Equihash (as used by ZCash) was intended to be memory-intensive, but turns out to not be nearly as much so as the original creators probably intended it to be - it's DEFINITELY not as memory-limited as the algo used in ETH mining.
In practice it wants a lot more core clock than memory clock when you're overclocking cards to mine it.
Your -60 core +625 memory would be a good starting point for ETH mining, if it's stable.
So an ASIC chip could be developed to mine ZEC as it has been the case for BTC?

equihash core intensive? I thought it was memory intensive, I have 1070 and have tried also 1080ti, and I leave core clock stock settings and memory as high as possible, also reducing power limit is not correct that?
no. memory plays a minimal role
so the overclock I did is wrong? I put -60 core clock +73% power limit and + 625 memory clock however, this could be valid for mining eth? which settings should be good for zcash and a gtx 1070? Hey guys, I have two gtx 1080. currently getting 481 and 489 sol/s each power limit is 53% and 66% Temp is 72C and 68C
Is it normal hash rate? or can I get higher hash rate?
Is equihash algorithm core intensive or memory intensive? what should i overclock?
Equihash is core intensive so to increase your hashrate you would need to overclock that. Depending on the GPU and your setup you might be stable at anywhere from +125 to +225 Core (in my experience). i typically leave the memory at stock, but some people underclock it abit. You will also get a little higher hashrate if you run at a higher power limit, but whether that's worth it for you depends on how difficult it is to keep them cool (and your power bill). equihash core intensive? I thought it was memory intensive, I have 1070 and have tried also 1080ti, and I leave core clock stock settings and memory as high as possible, also reducing power limit is not correct that? no. memory plays a minimal role Please state your source because from the begining of zcash I have read that it is memory intensive. https://z.cash/blog/why-equihash.htmlEquihash is a memory-oriented Proof-of-Work, which means how much mining you can do is mostly determined by how much RAM you have. We think it is unlikely that anyone will be able to build cost-effective custom hardware (ASICs) for mining in the foreseeable future.

hey guys, I need your help, just received my third gtx 1070 and a riser pci-e but no results of the card connected by that. why?!
the first 2 cards are connected normally to mobo, but this new card is connected with the riser.
maybe here is the problem? all graphic cards need to be run by risers?
thanks in advance!!
Did you power the riser and the card? Is the card detected in Device Manager?

Is EWBF Support R9 390x ? I have 1080ti, 1070 and R9 390X config already enable all gpu, but looks like R9 is not detected...
Anyone have the same problem ?
EWBF is a Nvidia miner.

|
It is working under both networks. Actually network needs only for the e-mail notifications it can be work "offline". The application needs to be placed on that computer where your ewbf cuda miner is running. If you start my app it will starting to check the miner's status in every few sec ( if api enabled in ewbf cuda miner ). If the miner is fails (including hanging GPU) it will restart the miner automatically. An email notif will be sent if the miner is stopped. There is also an e-mail notification in every 30 min about the status of your rig like power usage, speed, temperature, accepted shares rejected shares for each of your cards.
1. status notification's every 30 minutes/rig means a LOT of emails, is there a switch to adjust it ? I do not see any in the readme file. 2. I also have reserves about the 12 minutes mining at once. Should be distributed more evenly. I do not like to set dev fees to 0 because I think every worker deserves his retribution. OK, 12min/day is only 30 sec per hour but 12 min at once makes me unconfortable. (just saying)

Does your watchdog works under WiFi or Ethernet only?
|
|
|
Why am I getting hit with DEVFEES every other minute? I thought it was supposed to be every 10 minutes.
Unlike other devs EWBF collects fees every n...Cycles instead of every n....Minutes.

Hey guys, my first bigger problem with the miner: I have MSI armor 1080ti's (5 of them), and I tried running every card individually and they work fine, but when I plugin all 5 of them - "display driver crashed" and freezes.
- it aint the PSU, it is titanium Corsair top model with a lot of buffer left - it aint risers, cause they've been tested individually also - it aint MOBO, I guess? dont really know how to check that - but it's brand new. - it aint the miner, cause it works with my other 1080tis... - it aint the drivers, cause I tried the last 3 versions - it aint the heat, cause it's under AC - it aint the overclock, cause it isn't overclocked, all stock settings.
Please help me out here, I've spend the whole day tinkering about it with no results.
Anyone experienced this?
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/msi-bios-cryptocurrency-mining-performance,34972.htmlMSI has resolved this issue by adding a new "above 4G decoding" BIOS option that allows you to utilize up to six graphics cards on a 100-series motherboard. The company has released updated BIOS files that address PCI-E device recognition on several of its motherboards, including the Z170-A Pro, Z170 Krait Gaming , Z170A SLI Plus, Z170A Krait Gaming, Z170A Krait Gaming 3X, Z270-A Pro, and the H270-A Pro. Once the BIOS is updated, you can then navigate to the Settings\Advanced\PCI Subsystem Setting tab and set the “Above 4G memory / Crypto Currency mining” option to “enabled.” Given that this issue can be rectified with a BIOS update, we expect other manufacturers to follow MSI’s lead with updates of their own.

Do you have PCIe Gen 2 enabled on bios?
It's put on "auto". hey bulletdodger, so try this: update your motherboard BIOS to the latest version, It will have multi-gpu support. Also enable 4g encoding in your motherboard bios. Also, do this first: run DDU, uninstall in safe mode, then re-install drivers, but a different version (or latest). sometimes rigs just need a little bit of DDU love
hmmm, interesting, thanks for the advice, I'll try it. I bet it's a MSI mobo. I have one rig with that mobo and it occasionnaly hangs. (5 1070s + 1 1080 TI) I am installing most recent driver using clean install option right now. We'll see what happens.

Hi all,
Running this miner version 0.3.4b on Windows 10 family 64-bit.
Motherboard is ASUS PRIME Z270-P.
GPU's are all Gigabyte GTX 1070 WF OC edition.
For some reason, GPU0 runs slower than the others GPUs most of the time.
I actually have two exact same rigs with the exact same hardware, 5 cards in each one, and GPU1-4 are running at about the same speed (roughly 435 Sol/s each) on both rigs, but GPU0 misbehaves. Sometimes I get 350 Sol/s, sometimes 150. Sometimes "solver 2" is selected and it drops under 100 Sol/s.
The problem occurs on both rigs.
Power supply is 1200w. Rig drains about 950w out of it.
It actually also happens with 2 cards installed. Doesn't happen with 3 cards. Didn't test with 4. Did test with 6 but rig became unstable (I suspect not enough power supply).
I did try to switch cards around. Didn't help.
Tried PCIe Gen1 or Gen2. Didn't change anything.
Reinstalled the drivers 40,000 times.
Any ideas? This is quite frustrating.
Oh and the mobo bios is updated.
Select solver 0 in .bat file ? I would also check the riser.

Yes,I agree with you. But I count the devfee share today, its more than 2%......more than double ever..... I find sometime's file to count it, about 251 devfee share, and 5881 accepted share 251/5881=4.26%
Dev shares are rejected simply because some other miner submitted the solution before you.

INFO 00:13:26: GPUX devfee Accepted share
But sometimes show:
INFO 00:13:26: GPUX devfee rejected share
I don't konw what's wrong with my computer or software or my network?
PLS help me to fix.....
You can disable developer fee by adding "--fee 0" to your miner parameters
There is nothing to fix from your side. And it is not by not paying the developper's fee (yeah devfee) that you will help making a better miner. Please DO NOT follow advice from someone that knows less than you (by --fee 0).

need info guys. if i had 2 or 3 different card on my rig, how do i overclock each one of them? will afterburner detect all 3 and i can choose card A with "this" setting and card B with other oc setting?
i plan to get 3x 1050, and already had 1 980ti.
In MSI AfterBurner properties (gear icon) you can untick "Synchronize settings for similar graphics processsors"

Anyone here with knowledge of CPU's and PCIe channel utilization? I ask because @Blackhawk67 over at the z.cash forum is claiming that he is getting an extra 70-100 sol/s per gpu out of his 1080ti's when mining with both cpu and gpu. Based on his post it looks like he is getting about 830 sol/s per gpu, but when just mining with gpu's he's back down to normal range. I suspect it has something to do with cpu and pcie channel utilization, but my knowledge only goes so far.. EWBF uses only GPUs to mine. From the screen shots I see he is using nheqminer to mine on the computer's CPU. IMO. Is it worth it to use the CPU to mine? Maybe if you have a spare one handy for replacement to restart your machine ASAP so you dont lose too much hashing time. Having a machine down for 3 to five 5 days waiting for a replacement CPU can be costly. Direct link to external forum's are prohibited but an excerpt of @Blackhawk67's comment would have been useful to form an enlightened opinion.

hello bros,
i ve been posted before about another problem. today i woke up and i saw erros.
i checked log file and i saw them too much.
ERROR: Looks like GPU3 are stopped. Restart attempt. ERROR: Looks like GPU3 are stuck he not respond. ERROR: Looks like GPU1 are stopped. Restart attempt. ERROR: Looks like GPU1 are stuck he not respond. ERROR: Looks like GPU3 are stopped. Restart attempt. ERROR: Looks like GPU3 are stuck he not respond. ERROR: Looks like GPU0 are stopped. Restart attempt.
my hardware list ;
* 4x asus gtx 1070(stock, no oc) * 2x 750w power supply * 8gb ram * i3 processor * z270-p mo.bo. * 4x v006 risers
bios settings ;
4g decoding -> enabled changed speeds auto -> gen1
bios updated to the lastest version windows updated to the lastest version
how can i solve this problem permanently?
thank you for now.
My guess is either it is the driver or one of the card is causing a glitch. 1. I'd try to reseat the cards. or 2. Run the cards one at a time to identify the culprit. or 3. Uninstall/Reinstall the driver with no cards then reinstall the cards one at a time.
