I don't like it when miners are disrespected, but am having a little daydream here. If 100% of blocks were being generated by only masternodes... - There is a large barrier to entry which is one point in the "Centralized" column - This top pie chart at http://drk.poolhash.org/poolhash.html would rather than having 15 or so slices of pie, would have perfectly even 900, to possibly 3000 slices of pie. That's gotta be a mark in the "Decentralized" column. I'm pretty ignorant so if a smarter man or woman wants to jump in and tell me why this is stupid I would appreciate it. Isn't POW block mining sort of an inefficient way to process the info? I was reading a discussion about how POW is kind of silly, but it's just the absolute most secure way to go about supporting networks at the moment? </daydream>

so "dummy" question: can we run mining over masternodes and cut out the miners all together ? Is that technically possible ?
Not the miners, no, still need them, but if MNs acted as p2pool nodes and p2pool mining was enforced, we'd get rid of the 51% attack, ensure decentralisation, and have perfect MN payment compliance without any need for 'enforcement.' Crouton took all of the boxes everyone was thinking inside of today and fucking smashed them. His mental gears are well oiled.

Concerning Possible... I believe yes. But it brings up centralization issues. But there are centralization issues when you have massive pools mining as well. I think it is the question of the day! Certainly something to think about.

This is fascinating. The little rusty gears in my head are churning at full speed.

Continuing my darkcoin community research... ...using the forum extraction tool I am developing... ...here is how the title of this [ANN] thread changed over time, starting from day 1: January 18, 2014 (When darkcoin wasn't even called darkcoin yet... ) until today. If this has any value for you, and if you like to see more, consider a donation to help me further develop my tools: XtAdMy5nSxArut6rKKLQXxm84rpJNipXib
What is the next thing you want to see? 1) Do you want to know who of all the darkcoin users swears the most (using words like f**k etc..) then vote by donating any amount to this address: Xwz1utupG5LqWMsCeZqF3vo9xtiA7FXcjH2) If you would like to see a word cloud of all the comments evan duffield ever made, vote by donating to this address: Xn9b76yUZ5zGAcMvFv41ZSYn9XHMJpX833(I will eventually fulfill both tasks if they reach 5 DRK each, otherwise just the one that has more DRK) Have fun. FUCKING BUMP

Hello Everyone! Today, September 29, 2014 Darksend was completely open sourced. This means that we’re no longer going to be using the “release candidate” labels and we’re considering Darksend to be stable enough to leave beta. Also, the development community can come together to improve and refine Darksend, build backends that utilize it and enhance the Masternode technology adding even more functionality. We’ve been busy the last few weeks working on development plans for the next six to twelve months and we’re happy to announce these today. Masternode Hardening To build a network that can withstand attacks, the masternodes must not publish their IPs. To do this we’re going to utilize a new multipath communication technology. This will add another layer of privacy to the system as it will allow users to communicate with the network securely without exposing their IPs and will also hide the identity of the Darksend mixing nodes making it extremely difficult, if not impossible, for third parties to spy on users information. It uses multi-path routing so users can send more than one encrypted message using different routes on the mesh network for redundancy. This will allow us quick communication, robustness and anonymous two way communication. The diagram below shows the new system in action: We’re currently building the foundation for instant transactions and other secret projects that we’re not ready to announce yet. We’ll see you on testnet soon! The Darkcoin Development Team Lot's of respect to eduffield for setting the code free!! Thank you for all your hard work in the past and the future!

Just following a train of thought here.. We were discussing branding and even thinking of having a mascot type deal. For some reason whenever I see K Atlas' twitter handle i read it with the word mouse in there.. Anonymous... AnonyMOUSE... hear me out... He would basically have the personality of Jerry from tom and jerry, but might be black colored like Dark Link. And he would ALWAYS get out of trouble by using an ACME like product, but instead of ACME it would read DARKSEND. We could make a couple short animations and have them play as youtube commercials etc. Ex: His wife would be following his car and he would be on his way to the cabaret club, and he'd pull out his trusty bottle of darksend motor oil, pour it behind his car, causing her to swerve off the road and he gets away clean. I donno, I'm prepared for the avalanche of accusations of being stoned, which may or may not be well founded....

I understand I might be left standing alone on this but I liked the rc4 algo for determining payment to masternodes better.

Looks like Evan might be come Famous very soon.
Man, if there ever was person who was prepared for this conversation it is him.

Damn, you are right,... so why did it pop up today in my youtube feed... I hate it when they do that... Looks like the video was just put online today. It's a good speech man, thanks for sharing!

I'm starting to like this Kristov Atlas guy. Pity he failed to mention Darkcoin in any of that though, despite Darkcoin completely solving the Bitcoin problems he was mentioning. Centralised-browser-plugin-vapourware Dark Wallet got airtime instead... Maybe he's afraid that openly acknowledging DRK's superiority will get him cast out of the BTC zealots club? This speech was back in June.

Showing 1/3
Mangled where are you seeing 1/3

True but remember that there are 20% less coins for miners which goes to masternodes operators who are the holders mostly
Thanks!

Its always bad time to buy dark now, there is a lot of coin produced every day so there is sell pressure. U missed train long time ago when dark was 1000% cheeper
There is very little BTC worth of DRK produced a day in relation to other alts, this guy is actually totally wrong. So since there is less DRK produced every day compared to other altcoins, that means the price will go up? Thanks for your reply. Here is an example: Doge coin: Current block reward is about 62,500 doge 1 minute block time 1440 block per day * 62,500 doge = 90,000,000 New Doge coins mined per day 90,000,000 * .00000071(current price) = about 63.9 btc per day DarkCoin: Current block reward is about 5 DRK 2.5 Minute block time 576 Blocks per day * 5 drk = 2880 New drk per day 2880 - 20%(goes to MN operators) = 2304 New DRK per day to miners 2304 Drk * .0075(current price) = 17.28 BTC per day Someone check my numbers Edit per splawik21, thanks
