MagicalTux posted couple of days ago mentioning that they just hired someone: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=9808.0
Nice to hear that!  Now I am sorry for venting my frustration like this - I somehow missed this announcement.

It'll take a few more days until this lady is fully trained, and I got another one who may or may not join us Smiley
Can we know how is that job going?

Had to drop the lady since she had more troubles than expected for speaking english. Will hire another one later. In the meantime someone else is already helping Smiley

Moral of the story: time is money. other moral: sometimes a bargain is too expensive. other moral: whatever you do, INCLUDE your MTGOX ACCOUNT NUMBER in your Dwolla XFER!!!!!!!

+1, would allow us to spend less time on searching all those lost transactions and more time on doing bigger stuff Wink
403  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Dwolla = Fast on: June 02, 2011, 12:38:21 AM
Mtgox is a bit overwhelmed at the moment.  He's hiring staff, but it will take a while before they are all ups to speed.  I recommend purchasing MTGUSD via #bitcoin-otc next time.  There are plenty of people who send money to the exchange just to sell it.  There will be a small premium (a few percent), but it gets you bitcoins quicker.  Also, if you have funds in your Dwolla account, transfers done correctly only take a few minutes.
We still handle dwolla deposits within 10 minutes (best case, Japan working hours) to 12 hours (worst case, everyone sleeping).

Hello,

I just opened a MtGox account.

What happens now ist that I can't log in with my password

And the password shows up in the address bar.

I don't think that the passwd is wrong but I tried to get it sent to me. -> Nothing!

Anyone knows, what happened here?

Greetings
Fred

Hi,

Stop using IE and use a real browser like Chrome, Firefox, Opera or anything else than IE.

407  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Mtgox doesn't work? on: June 01, 2011, 03:47:16 AM
This happens for transactions below 1 BTC. Working on a resolution.
408  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Dwolla = Fast on: June 01, 2011, 03:43:30 AM
I xfered to dwolla on the 26th- just got in today. Immediately sent ot to Mt. Gox where it hasn't shown up 12 hrs later.
In this case send an email to info@mtgox.com with your Dwolla account number, the amount sent, and the message you have added so we can check.

Thanks

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /wiki/Securing_your_wallet on this server.

umm?

Will be back within <24 hours. In the meantime it would have been nice if we had some people using the dumps to provide mirrors (the wiki doesn't like the continual influx of users)
411  Other / Off-topic / Re: Proof-of-work wiki on: May 31, 2011, 01:14:53 PM
Just take one of the dumps and make a mirror:
http://dump.bitcoin.it/

(wiki will be back within <24 hours, trying to fix a few things to make it stronger)
412  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: selling drugs and money laundering: the potential downfall of bitcoin on: May 29, 2011, 01:08:09 AM
I really wouldn't worry about stores or businesses. They are blind and only follow the sound of coins going cha-ching.  So many didn't think the internet was good business, but they came.

They will follow the Mob irrespective of what the Mob is doing. The drug thing will always be there and with time only be the same percentage as in IRL. It can be no other way.

Plus once the Stores, realize some of the "TAX" benefits of BitCoin, it will out way the Bad.

IMO, the whole key to a monetary system (BitCoin) isn't the Money, it is the Resources that the money can buy. BitCoin needs resources. Unfortunately, Drugs seems to be one of those resources.

When you say "Tax benefits" you mean as in not paying tax or something else? I imagine most business will pay tax on btc like they pay tax on cash.

They probably won't pay tax on BTC until they convert it to cash. This really does underscore the problems with the tax system in the US though. You pay income tax AND sales tax.  They get you twice for every transaction.  One or the other if you ask me.  As it stands today, a business could not survive [or even start] if it involved only bitcoins, it must use the fiat currency to actually do business.  If bitcoin gets large enough, that could change, but at the same time, governments will come up with novel ways of getting their cut.

Here in Japan I pay taxes on bitcoin income based on the equivalent JPY value at date of sale.

I then pay taxes or deduct taxes when converting BTC to JPY if the price is different from the bitcoin price when the order happened (if I get more money, I pay taxes on the extra income. If I get less money, I can deduct this from paid taxes).

I think that using SEPA you can send EURO from one EU bank and receive non-EURO in other EU bank.

At least, my bank here (I live in EU but we do not have EURO) confirmed me that they can accept SEPA incoming transfer.

I did not transfer my MtGox funds yet here, but I hope it will work. Am I right?

Ask them how much they charge you for the exchange Smiley

The bank in France is acting up (they need to manually confirm any transfer we send after we have sent 3000 euro in one day) so we are looking for alternatives. In the meantime deposits and withdraws IN EUROs are still possible. Withdraws may be delayed by a few days.
Please remember that SEPA transfers are limited to 50000 EUR, sending more will be cheaper if sent to Japan.

why should the transfers be made only in euro? AFAIN, in Europe you can
do SEPA transfers from non-EUR  (e.g. Switzerland or UK) countries to EUR countries, and the conversion  to
EUR (or to the recepients currency in general) will be done automatically by the banks.

Am I missing something?

We'll be able to do that soon. The bank we use right now charges outrageous fees to keep non-EUR accounts (the EUR account is expensive enough as it is)

Pour info c'est via un compte entreprise... Cheesy

Sinon côté API, il faut compter ~15€ par virement émit (uh?) et ~2200 euro de setup, puis 550€/mois ... pas cool :p

I did include it. If you'd like it's 0210223b-511f-4fd5-bef3-c941d1f2cfb6

And I'm aware LR's merchant API has been fairly buggy this year. I figured that was likely the issue.  Smiley
Marked for retry. You'll probably get an email today or tomorrow from me when I finally read your mail confirming your funds were sent.
419  Economy / Marketplace / Re: mtgox.com and Liberty reserve on: May 26, 2011, 08:22:21 AM
I recently registered on Mt Gox to test it out so I sold 1 BTC and withdrew it to LR USD. This was on the 18th of May. It's now the 26th of May and I still haven't seen the money in my LR account. I've e-mailed their support 2 days ago and have yet to receive a reply.

Honestly I'm not sure whether to expect the money or not at this point. It really shouldn't take a week to send an LR payment. I hope it is simply a technical issue though.

Probably just means LR had network issues when we tried to push your LRUSD. Remember to provide the withdraw ref when making inquiries about a withdraw.

You know, if you told all that to the US embassy in Paris, I'm pretty sure they would help you get back to your country.
