401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core stopped connecting??? on: August 27, 2014, 08:04:15 PM
Shit is getting really weird. I managed to install bitcoin wallet on another computer and it won't connect either!

Just to make sure I haven't done anything wrong:
1. I download bitcoin.zip here https://bitcoin.org/en/download
2. I extract the bitcoin-qt.exe
3. I run it

402  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core stopped connecting??? on: August 27, 2014, 07:38:09 PM
The wallet can't connect to any nodes even without my wallet.dat file. So the problem must be elsewhere.

My windows installation is fresh and I don't have any crap on it and the firewall/antivirus is off and other wallets work fine so what the hell?

the error "An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host" seems to say the problem is on the other end.

try with another wallet data, sometime this has happened to me, i don't know why but some wallet.dat get corrupted with no reason

Wouldn't I lose my coins then?
405  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core stopped connecting??? on: August 27, 2014, 06:03:38 PM
Have you tried to run the wallet from another computer or virtual machine or live cd?

No, I'll try to get access to another computer soon
406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Bitcoin Core stopped connecting??? on: August 27, 2014, 05:29:42 PM
The client doesn't connect to any nodes. I'm using version v0.9.2.1 but the older version stopped working also. The last connection was from 11 weeks.

Firewalls are disabled. I even deleted everything related to bitcoin except wallet.dat and now the client is stuck behind five years.

This is some seriously fucked up shit. Any possible explanations how this can suddenly happen and how to fix it?
407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core 0.9.2.1 has been released on: August 27, 2014, 11:22:33 AM

So how exactly do I add the nodes? I tried to make bitcoin.conf file and I copied this code: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Running_Bitcoin#Sample_Bitcoin.conf

uncommented this:

 # Use as many addnode= settings as you like to connect to specific peers
 #addnode=69.164.218.197
 #addnode=10.0.0.2:8333

and added many nodes but shit doesn't work.

This is madness. How ever are "normal" people supposed to start using bitcoin if even just starting the client and accessing your funds needs advanced skills of whatever.

Also tried to add nodes through the command line

addnode "node" "add|remove|onetry"

Attempts add or remove a node from the addnode list.
Or try a connection to a node once.

Arguments:
1. "node" (string, required) The node (see getpeerinfo for nodes)
2. "command" (string, required) 'add' to add a node to the list, 'remove' to remove a node from the list, 'onetry' to try a connection to the node once

Examples:
> bitcoin-cli addnode "192.168.0.6:8333" "onetry"
> curl --user myusername --data-binary '{"jsonrpc": "1.0", "id":"curltest", "method": "addnode", "params": ["192.168.0.6:8333", "onetry"] }' -H 'content-type: text/plain;' http://127.0.0.1:8332/
(code -1)

but gives errors!!!

Cloakcoin Q & A posted on Cloaktalk.org

http://cloaktalk.org/t/cloak-development-q-a/275

Thanks for the update, must say though.. hate that forum software :/

I think the forum software is top notch. It has it all. Brings something fresh to the traditional ultra stale forum softwares. The categories make navigation much better than different sub forums etc. But tho colors are ugly.
409  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Haasonline Simple Trade Bot For BTCe and Bitstamp[Main topic] on: August 21, 2014, 12:23:45 PM
Can you explain the new safeties:
-  Last Buy Price Drop-Loss (sell based on your last buy price)
-  Last Buy Percentage Drop-Loss (sell based on your last buy price)

If the price goes 0.2% the bot will sell I guess. What about the Last Buy Price Drop-Loss? The default value is 10. 10 what? Satoshis?

In what situations would you need the forget last sell/buy price?

I asked earlier but didn't get an answer.

I tried to create a alias but the Qt complained error:
Error creating new alias: "Error, transaction creation failed "

Now I tried second time but still doesn't work. I've got two 1.002 transactions that are stuck. How can I cancel or remove them?

Did I do something wrong? I first made a syscoin address for receiving payments. Then I pressed the "new alias button" and I did put the alias there.

Have I understood wrong what aliases are (shortcuts for payment addresses?). There is no info of them on the OP or website.

Edit: these fees seem to be collecting confirmations forever. One has already 54 confirmations. Do they ever end? The sent to: is blank.

Isn't 2 billion coins quite a lot? Maybe that explains the low price...

See this is why I still feel max coins should be reduced to 1 billion over 20 some-odd years as opposed to 2 billion over 80 some-odd years. Won't change anything about the coin whatsoever, but at least it will make people stop bringing up this damn (false) criticism.

At least I thought about doge and the huge amount of cheap coins flooding from the huge amount of coins. I guess SYS  is then different (haven't mined it so don't know) but it isn't really explained in the OP.

Yea, it's tough to notice unless you take the time to look at the mining structure and do the calculations yourself. Basically, even after 15.5 years of mining there will only be 828,633,600 coins on the market. So unless you're worried about 2 billion coins 86 years into the future, there's nothing to be concerned about.

So SYS is currently criminally undervalued. Nice to know this.

If the client won't restart
use ctr + alt + del
and kill syscoin-Qt.exe
and try again

How do the aliases work?
I tried to create one alias but the Qt complained of some error. But the client sent 1 syscoin for fees and now the coin has been stuck for hours without any confirmation.

Could someone explain merged mining? Is there any requirements or drawbacks?

still don't understand this dump, DRK failed 3 times to deliver!
we just did one failure and nailed to the ground, i still believe in the Devs and the delivering of what they promising!

I think the difference is that DRK had technical difficulties/bugs....

Cloak is fundamentally flawed in their design from the grounds up.   It's like saying I don't understand why Leaning Tower of Pisa is so different from other buildings.

Is this true?
418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / zero active connections to the bitcoin network on: August 15, 2014, 12:36:16 AM
I get zero active connections to the bitcoin network. I've tried rescanning and deleting peers.dat. Nothing seems to be helping. My wallet is two months behind.

Where can I find a list of working nodes??
419  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CLOAK] Cloakcoin | No Premine | X13 | Decentralized Market and PoSA on: August 14, 2014, 09:59:55 PM
I think that the value of a coin comes from the possibility of buying things with that coin, right now you have to convert cloak to bitcoin to buy something in general terms, the same happens with every other alt, so i think that cloak's value won't get up again by natural means until that doors opens widely...

The onemarket should deal with that problem.

what does "Fork the coin, as 100% community-driven" mean in practice? What are the major drawbacks?
