I ended up going with this as a parlay; no guts, no glory:

NCAA basketball houston vs baylor o135.5
NBA Orlando ML or -7.5 if you really wanna gamble. Game vs Detroit who sucks balls

I do not guarantee a win, but these 2 games stick out like sore thumbs IMO. Good luck with whatever bet you make.

I got Orlando Magic @ -333 and Houston vs. Baylor O134 @ -112

This comes out to a combined Total Odds of +146, which puts me way over the minimum withdrawal amount. Don't worry yahoo, I won't blame you if I lose, lol.

Man, what a squeaker. Magic wins by 3 in the last few seconds of the game. So both bets won! Thanks @yahoo62278 you were spot on with these picks.

Good luck man. If it wins no need to tip me. If it loses, least the games will be more exciting if you're watching them.

Thanks again buddy. I tipped you merits instead. If you have a Counterparty wallet I'd like to send you a Bit Bowl team token of your choice.
402  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi - Sirius emails 2009-2011 on: February 25, 2024, 02:42:45 AM
I am surprised that someone has not thought to use readily available AI apps like EmmaIdentity (or something newer), to compared Satoshi's large amount of emails to other early Bitcoin advocates discussions to find out Satoshi's identity. I would think this would now be quite simple and fast to do.

There have been all sorts of linguistical analysis comparisons done over the years. For example, this is a thesis/dissertation that was posted in the BSV scam thread that compares Satoshi's writings to those by Craig Wright, Gavin Andresen, Hal Finney, Adam Back, Mike Hearn, and Nick Szabo. Spoiler alert: the only thing it definitively concluded was that Wright is farther away from being Satoshi than any of the others.
403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty - Pioneering Peer-to-Peer Finance - Official Thread on: February 25, 2024, 02:33:29 AM
Nobody's bothered to mention it here yet, which speaks more about the current popularity of the forum than anything else, but both Adam K. (Phantom Phreak) and Robby D. (xnova) have returned to Counterparty & have already contributed a lot to development (or re-development).

https://twitter.com/agkrellenstein/status/1756968626765058249

As a result, the price of XCP has surged from about $3 to $9.50. Wish I hadn't sold the rest of my bag at about $3.80  Cheesy  Cry

Still, I'm more bullish on the future of Counterparty than possibly ever. Excited to see what comes next.
404  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Loan defaulted by [lemipawa] on: February 25, 2024, 01:23:11 AM
I have supported your flag on lemipawa and issued an additional red tag on them as well.

I'm just curious how the others are connected as alt accounts as I don't see any links about that in their trust ratings.

3) Has there been a data leak on the BTT website? At least some years ago there was a warning on the page about "some hacking".   That was the reason, why I changed my email address in that time. But, I do not know, if the email addresses could have been leaked then?

There was a user data breach in 2015 - part of it was user email addresses - so likely what happened was somebody figured out that your email had expired and re-registered it. I see old accounts coming back to the forum all the time; many of them were probably obtained through this same method.

Just wish campaign managers would do 5 seconds of research before accepting them into their campaign  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes  by doing so they are only encouraging this kind of behavior.
407  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Nutildah's Double-Or-Nothing Sportsbook Challenge on: February 24, 2024, 05:42:28 PM
GERMANY: Bundesliga: Werder Bremen - Darmstadt  GG or over 2.5

ENGLAND: Premier League: Manchester Utd - Fulham 2-5 goals (multiple goals)

SPAIN: LaLiga: Barcelona - Getafe: Home win.

@nutildah,

If you did picked the predictions I offered then congratulations to you as I just checked the results of the games and found out they all played.

Results:
Werder Bremen - Darmstadt 1:1
Manchester Utd - Fulham 1:2
'Barcelona - Getafe 3:0

The Barcelona vs Getafe game is still ongoing but looking at the scores at 87 minutes to full-time Getafe doesn't stand a chance.

Cheers if you picked my prediction.

No I didn't but it appears you got 3/4 picks (just the "or over 2.5" of the 1st match was incorrect), so I'm sending you what I think is enough merits for you to rank up.
408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool Observer Topic on: February 24, 2024, 04:50:11 PM
So... What kind of game is MARA Pool playing in block 831802 ? Replacing all transactions for inscriptions.

This is kind of hilarious. It could be they were paid to do some kind of marketing maneuver for whatever this is:

In any case, great to see fees so low again. Wonder if it will stick this time.

(old post deleted and replaced with this one)

Apparently you have 0.0025 btc blocked. If you want, I can send you this amount, in return you will bet the money that is in your account on the sporting event that I indicate. If the match is victorious, you will be able to withdraw money and transfer the winnings to me.

Thanks for your offer, that's nice/brave of you. I was about to take you up on it but when I clicked on "Deposit" I saw this:

Quote
Due to network congestion, BTC deposits must be a minimum of 5 mBTC.

They must have implemented this rule after I made my last deposit, sometime around November of last year. Oh well.

I think I know which sportbook you are referring. It seems to be one of the casinos I have worked with. I have to check if they have tipping feature (on phone, so can't check and I can't remember either). If they have, feel free to DM me. I can get you LTC for BTC.

No, that's not the one, but thank you for your offer.

Thanks everyone else for your suggestions! Will be interesting to see how it goes.
410  Economy / Gambling discussion / Nutildah's Double-Or-Nothing Sportsbook Challenge on: February 24, 2024, 01:07:19 PM
So recently I won a small-ish bet on the Super Bowl, only to discover than I am still an entire 50% away from the minimum withdrawal amount for this particular bitcoin sportsbook. The sportsbook, which I won't name, is highly reputable, but they increased the withdrawal minimum to 0.005 BTC. This was back last year when tx fees were skyrocketing due to ordinals-mania, and I'm not counting on them to lower it any time soon.

So in light of this dilemma, I'd like to ask for the forum's gambling experts opinion on what is the most surefire way to double my balance with one or two solid sports bets.

Please let me know what sporting event bets you would make to make this happen in one or two bets maximum. If I end up taking your suggestion and win, I will send you $25 in BTC as a 'thanks'.

This particular sportsbook has a lot of events & leagues to choose from and tends to have relatively decent odds, so any suggestions not too out of the ordinary would probably work just fine.

Thanks!

Let 'em rip.

I sympathize with OP in this case: it is clear they are being unfairly hounded by someone with real mental and/or emotional problems.

As far as the licensing thing is concerned, I know that a casino's reputation for doing good by their customers completely outweighs whatever credibility a license can provide, and blackjack.fun seems to excel in this regard.

As far as what can be accomplished on the forum, the neutral rating I left for JackpotRacer almost four years ago now still adequately sums what anyone can expect when having to deal with him (and I truly sympathize for those that fall under his crosshairs):

nutildah    2020-03-02        While I do not trust users who allow themselves to be "scammed" so frequently, that in itself is not worthy of a negative trust. I do recommend avoiding engaging in any business with this user as they have an extremely poor attitude and tend to complain (a lot) if things don't go exactly as they hoped. Check previous feedback both given and received for examples.

Not sure what further action should be taken at the moment.
412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Updates from the COPA v Craig Wright trial on: February 24, 2024, 12:44:51 PM
I don't think he is charismatic, he just has sociopathic confidence and rarely gets rattled which is quite an impressive feat. Can you imagine sitting in court with your entire existence based upon lie after life and you have to think of more lies on the fly to cover up those lies and knowing all this behaviour could end up with you in prison.

No, I can't imagine it. Clearly he's no dummy, but he's going up against some of the smartest people in the world, and they have managed to poke sizable holes in his story since he first started telling it. By this point the fabric of the pseudo-reality he's woven is so tattered, its barely hanging together; who knows what it will take for it to finally fall all the way apart.

But you hit the nail on the head with the sociopath part. That is just one "ability" that most people can never achieve, because our brains are fully developed. It really is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by stunted growth of the prefrontal cortex, which is the most human part of the brain. Its the part that prevents us from simply bashing each other over the head with a rock when things don't go our way. Craig is unencumbered by this dilemma, which allows him to experience an utter detachment from morality, and therefore the rest of humanity.

Skimming through those makes me so nostalgic...

Next time somebody complains about the version of SMF on bitcointalk.org, I have a great excuse!

Hopefully the 1.1.x line is mature and updates are infrequent.  We
shouldn't upgrade to 2.0.  I made a ton of customisations that wouldn't
be compatible, and I kind of prefer the look of 1.1 over 2.0 anyway.

Frankly theymos I hope the look of the forum never changes. I can't help but think when people come here to read satoshi's old posts, they want to read them exactly the way they looked when he posted them.

Might be kind of weird or off-putting to see historical posts in a different, "modern" format.
415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Inverse Cramer Strikes Again on: February 24, 2024, 06:20:05 AM
Well folks, it was fun while it lasted. Sell everything, pack your bags, hug your wife and kids and say goodbye. Its time to head for the hills and wait out what is likely to be the most brutal bear market of this generation.

Gentle reminder that BTC is up over 20% since Cramer said it was your "chance to roll out of bitcoin" on Jan 25th.
416  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Privacy Protocols on: February 24, 2024, 05:22:37 AM
But my point is, Satoshi himself mentioned that "bitcoin should be used using Tor".

I'm not familiar with that quote, do you know where I can find it?

He made statements that were basically centered around that idea:

Bitcoin is still very new and has not been independently analysed.  If you're serious about privacy, TOR is an advisable precaution.

I have thought about eventually SSLing all the connections.  I assume anything short of SSL would be pointless against DPI.  Maybe a better more immediate solution is to connect through TOR, which will be possible with 0.2.
417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Updates from the COPA v Craig Wright trial on: February 24, 2024, 03:24:03 AM
The charisma of Craig is his primary strength.

LOL. Well in that case he is completely fucked.

I can't think of a more disgusting, detestable, deplorable human in the crypto scene, and the bar is very, very low.

Neither BitBoy, Richard Heart, nor Do Kwon hold a candle to what level of douchebag Craig is.

If he is charismatic, it is in the way cult leaders are charismatic: they appeal primarily to the lost, the dumb, and the soul-lessly greedy. Everyone else with a competent or moral mind can see them for who they truly are.
418  Other / Meta / Re: Icopress ' Merit Source Application 🚩 on: February 24, 2024, 02:38:08 AM
To me, a forum where tens of thousands of people are active posting very regularly like in here, should also be having an influx of new users that are able to contribute that is akin to its active userbase. That would be at least a few hundreds of new users becoming legendary every year. If we check https://bpip.org/Report?r=mostmerit there's only one legendary user in the top 1000 with a registration date of 2021 and 14 users from 2020. So in a little more than 3 years only 15 users reached the maximum rank. Also note that the bottom of the top 1000 have only a tiny bit merit above the required 1k to become legendary so I wouldn't guess that there's many more besides that.

To become a Legendary w/ a 2021 registration date by now would mean posting just about every day (or at least 14 times per 2 weeks) since then, along with accumulating an average of ~1 merit every day... No easy feat really. It requires a lot of commitment to going beyond shitposting, which is a step most accounts here aren't willing to take. They are here because its "easy money"... once you have to put effort into it its no longer "easy" anymore. So they will never get beyond Sr. Member or Hero and they don't care.

I think it took me at least 4 years to get to Legendary based on the speed of my posting, which was intermittent. I don't think merits would have been a factor but who knows.
419  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM: Bitcoin SV (BSV) - fake team member and plagiarized white paper on: February 23, 2024, 02:47:50 AM
Do me a favor and just do 1 reply at a time, or combine multiple thoughts into 1 post, otherwise your secondary posts may be deleted by moderators.

Fair enough, for now, but what happens after this upcoming halving or next halving when the BTC blockchain reward isn't large enough to convince financially savvy miners to continue hashing when their mining costs exceed their rewards?  Sooner than later it's going to happen.  Transaction fees must replace rewards as the means of sustaining the security model.  How large do these fees need to become on BTC at only 7 tps???

This doesn't have anything to do with BSV. But to answer your question, we'll have to wait and see as its an unprecedented issue. For the next couple of decades I think it will be a non-problem. The current hash rate for BTC is incredibly high. Its fine if it drops a couple orders of magnitude; Bitcoin will still be the most secure blockchain several times over. All other PoW coins combined don't come close to matching the security of its chain.
420  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM: Bitcoin SV (BSV) - fake team member and plagiarized white paper on: February 23, 2024, 02:18:57 AM
BSV Terranode is processing millions of TPS now.  That's scaling.

OK, setting aside the entire debate about the inherent centralization risks imposed by BSV's scaling model, what good does scaling do for a coin if nobody wants to use it?
