401  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: March 09, 2024, 01:58:34 PM
It is crucial that we speak with them at the beginning so that they are aware of our activities and the kinds of vices or hobbies we indulge in. After all, there are no secrets that should remain hidden. We shall know what will happen at the end, which is why there are always regrets. What will happen when we cross our boundaries and engage in undesirable behavior, such as getting debt from gambling, because we will become used to it? Even when we bring problems to ourselves, our family and loved ones are the ones who support us and help us find solutions. Sometimes, they even become involved as a result of our careless and dumb behavior.
This is the main reason I would never advise anyone to be ever ashamed, scared or for any other reasons keep any habits a secret especially gambling because when the state of addiction, desperation or any gambling bad habits is popping in, we can't see it earlier but others do.
Also I can't hide anything I love just because of Fear or being scared of speaking about it to those around me
If you are afraid that your gambling habit cannot be controlled, you need someone to remind you of this because after experiencing an addiction to gambling and you cannot control yourself from gambling, of course this will make you experience financial problems which can make you unable to fulfill your needs. about the needs you need and this really depends on a person's personality, but people who don't want their gambling habits to be known by other people certainly have different reasons to what you have mentioned.
actually those people who is addicted in gambling cannot control their gambling because they are fully addicted in gambling and in order for them to control it, it will take them out of time to understand the procedures that makes them to be addicted in gambling so what I want us to know is that to control gambling is when The Gambler does not have much fund to gamble any longer but the process whereby The Gambler have a funds in his situation I think that it will continue to gamble until problem from the family like the wife or the parents kick against gambling with violence that is when is mentality of being addicted in gambling will you reset
Not having funds to gamble doesn't stop a gambler from gambling once he/she is addicted or tending to the state of addiction because they can't really notice this changes themselves and even if they do, they may likely fail to control themselves since it has now become an addiction, While violence is not the key answer against gambling addiction or any kind of addiction though it may work but not for everyone, those who are victim of gambling addiction and now free from it majority of them came out not through violent means but rather support from those around them or families

404  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's the point of registering on a CEX if you don't trade? on: March 09, 2024, 07:16:52 AM
It is not only trading coin pairs that Makes people to use centralized exchanges but also the P2P trading of coins are one of them and the most important factor. If you look at the decentralized exchanges even though it is advisable to use them for privacy sake, Many lack the P2P feature for some lower currencies and that is why top centralized exchanges are still prioritized by the investors. Although this days the integration of P2P features is growing on Decentralized exchanges but they are still behind Centralized exchanges and that’s why people still use them

Do you need KYC for P2P on CEX?
Yes it's very much necessary in fact it's Kyc requirements maybe more advanced than that of trading. Few people are aware of decentralise p2p while others still used it  since they already have done Kyc on the exchanges long before knowing about DEX p2p  and they're familiar with it.
405  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigerian lawmakers raise concern on crackdown on cryptocurrency platforms on: March 08, 2024, 07:19:41 PM
To be Frank, the government is incompetent and not that I have much hope on this rep though they are literally right and all the same but let's see what Tinubu and  Cardross will have to say about their concerned.

Though I guess I can really say Fg was only interested in getting money from binance through fines but unfortunately it didn't go as planned, all the comment Cardoso ever spoken about binance, I have always seen a  harshness in it, they are only acting dumb just how they been acting. The best bet now is to take coins away from exchanges to good non-custodial wallets like bluewallet, Electrum and others for only bitcoin while Metamask for altcoins especially after this news: Nigerian Telcos Have Blocked Nigerians access to all crypto exchange websites

408  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: March 07, 2024, 10:31:10 PM
Qarabağ made a surprise by eliminating Braga in the previous round. Can Qarabağ make another surprise? Bayer Leverkusen earned a 2-2 draw in the Round of 16 first leg away to Qarabag. Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen are on course for a first Bundesliga title, 10 points clear of Bayern Munich at the top of the table.

Roma, Liverpool, Milan, Freiburg and Marseille ultimately managed to win today's first leg. Leverkusen, who were the favorites, actually drew against Qarabag, as did Atalanta. Liverpool and Roma don't seem to have any trouble expecting a quarter-final after big wins in the first leg, Milan and Marseille are no different.

I was a little surprised about the result of the Leverkusen match, but Qarabag was probably just lucky to be able to end the match with a score of 2-2. Leverkusen played well and had many opportunities, but unfortunately Leverkusen could only score 2 goals from 4 shots on target. There is still a second leg that Xabi can maximize, it is a home match that I think Leverkusen will dominate.
Bayern Leverkusen will definitely win if I can remember currently I don't think they have had any lost this season, only draw and wins while the match against Qarabag are not the first match we were expecting a win for them only for them to draw but we can say in the second leg they will be victorious since winning is needed to move to the next stage

De Zerbi got destroyed by Roma.
Wasn't he supposed to be the new Guardiola Roll Eyes
I can understand if De Zerbi could be destroyed by AS Roma.
The quality of his squad isn't as well as the AS Roma squad quality. And De Zerbi may use the wrong tactic in the match against AS Roma.
De Zerbi manages an average team like Brighton, it is different with Guardiola was managing a big team like Barcelona.
Anyway, I don't think De Zerbi needs to be the next Guardiola.  Cheesy
The fact that Brighton couldn't get a goal is dissappointing and we can't really call Brighton a small team base on stat in last 2 seasons, even if it was expected for Romans to win we were not expecting results like against Brighton.

Recap of European League Match Results Round of 16 Leg 1 of 2

Sporting CP 1 vs 1 Atalanta

AS Roma 4 vs 0 Brighton

Sparta Praha 1 vs 5 Liverpool

Qarabag 2 vs 2 Leverkusen

AC Milan 4 vs 2 Slavia Praha

Freiburg 1 vs 0 West Ham

Benfica 2 vs 2 Rangers

Marseille 4 vs 0 Villarreal

In my opinion, the most dramatic match was Qarabaq versus Leverkusen, where Xabi fleet almost suffered their first defeat of the day. However, before the match ended, they managed to equalize after being 2 goals behind in the first half.
Marseille, Iiverpool and As Romans have already qualified to the next round since they are leading with a goal difference of 4 against their respective opponents, Ac Milan ad less to worry about in comparison with the others. In the second leg west ham, bayern Leverkusen and benfica would be hoping to qualify for the next round though

If this is true then wouldn't this be a good thing because there's more in crypto exchanges than any other groups out there? What I'm trying to say is that don't we the retail investors outnumber these groups so any kind of plan to do with the price of the market?
50% of Bitcoin are actually held on non-custodial wallets and Apocollapse gave the full image but if you actually read my quoted text, you did notice that it was said there which is around 10.5m btc held there.

About the amount of bitcoin held on exchanges the fact remains the fact which is though you teach the truth only those who will listen will listen but in the end we know they are going to regret their ignorance though this is among what are held in ETFs spot
410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Every time a new Bitcoin Block is found, US prints $69 million!!! on: March 07, 2024, 09:55:51 PM
I think the phrase “hedge against inflation” which is a strong attribute of bitcoin is seriously downplayed or say under rated. One thing have found is that on paper or public the dollar doesn’t looks like something that has problem but it’s devaluing seriously and this doesn’t only affects dollar alone, most of the world countries suffering economic crises are associated to the devaluation of the fiat currency. The bitcoin adoption rate of developing countries tells why it is just a matter of time before bitcoin is fully embraced as an alternative to fiat. Not a financial advice but regardless of the volatility I will definitely save up on bitcoin than hoard any fiat at the moment and this doesn’t even have to do with ROI.

Soon it will be crystal clear that someday 1sat = $1 and even exceeds this

I am ambitious about the growth or potential of bitcoin but a sat to a dollar (I mean current value though because dollar go devalue in future who knows) seems too ambitious and not something I am seeing in a near future. Because for this to happen it means we have a bitcoin at $100 million.
I won't see it as an ambitious growth but though we probably won't be alive when this occurs but except there is a top stop dollar from devaluation and God bless you for using this phrase “hedge against inflation” which shows the possibility.

The reason that I locked my thread was the second post of the thread. That this thread we are posting currently was created before mine but I noticed it after I have created that thread. So we should further the discussion here so we would avoid repetitive posts.

Or do you think I should unlock it? If you people want that I can unlock it.

A wish every other person who made Spam post about binance and government issues was smart enough to lock their thread when they found out another thread with same information exit, it would have been better for the Local boards reputation. Anyway thanks for taking that smart move even after you know fully well that your thread is more informative you still locked it. I wouldn't ask that you reopen the thread, let's just leave it that way and keep the board from spam posting.
I guess that is among the main reason we need a local moderator here with the child boards

Or do you think I should unlock it? If you people want that I can unlock it.
I guess OP would be in a better position to answer this since in the end one of this thread as to be locked to avoid spamming, Though yours is more detail and does not necessarily needs anyone to click the link and read about this, to actually get the entire context while OP is quite the opposite but in the end it's stating same news.

@I_Anime your attention is needed on your thread, I advise you either make it more detailed or locked it in order for Charles-Tim to open his

Let's be Frank, the Leaders are bad but the coming leaders are nothing less the same (majority). We blame government on everything whereas we are no different, majority of us are self centered cares about themselves and some circle of their family, when given opportunity all they  want to do is to exploit others e.g PoS, Taxi drivers, business men and women.
Bribery and corruption is common with us all, finding means to cut our way to any opportunity or position even if it is clear we are ineligible for it.
Let's work on ourself show love to all, when given any position or opportunity do the right thing and even if the leaders are bad things won't be really this worst. Let's Love lead

https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-68434579

That's an interesting graph... and to be honest a nice read too.. after long time some facts and actual stuff that talks about bitcoin.

Bitcoins lost forever 2.4m (11%), according to report an estimate suggest between three million to as many as six million may be have been lost forever.
A loose estimate that's often agreed upon is 3.5 million.

In the same article while discussing Cryptocurrency exchanges its mentioned that exchanges act like banks and there's a warning too, leaving your coins on an exchange can go wrong though.

Most interesting is "Unknown whales",  A Bitcoin whale is someone who holds more than 10,000 bitcoins in their digital wallet.
A loose estimate is that large whales account for about 8% of all bitcoins.

8% that's far less what I used to think... and I remember how it was used to be reported that how whales control the price... this has been proved wrong.

Last coins "Yet to be mined", There are still only about 7% of coins yet to be mined.

People, 50% of all bitcoins are held by the general public about 10.5m bitcoins. River estimated that Bitcoin had 81.7 million users as of June 2023, or 1% of the global population.

Lastly there's a very important point, that this latest surge in the value of Bitcoin is not coming because individual retail investors , Analysts say whales like the big banks are pushing up price and demand. Yes that's true you can only imagine what happens when retail investors turns to bitcoin? Remember still on 1% of global population is holding bitcoin what if that percentage turns 10%?

I believe this would be helpful for you and anyone interested in this

[edited out]
My registration date is truly around that range but to be Frank I literally wasn't in to anything until last year when I literally started spending time on the forum, unlearning and learning since almost every knowledge I had about cryptocurrency were fallacy especially in relating to bitcoin, investment and privacy.

I did not accumulate enough bitcoin like I would have desire especially since I had some life expenses to deal with and wasn't thinking of taking loans don't really like that but I'm working on to an aggressive investment plan by adding additional skill that will fetch me good funds in taking care of expenses and having a constant DCA strategy aside using signature campaign for such

Well you have to stay within your own scope of abilities because it would not be good to overdo whatever you are doing and then not be able to continue to build your BTC stash... so you may well have a good 10 years of accumulation ahead of you, especially if you are just getting started investing.

When I mentioned front-loading in my post, I am not necessarily referring to loans, even though loans could be a form of front-loading that may or may not be reasonable depending on context - including your ability to service the loans apart from the price direction of the underlying investment (namely bitcoin in this case).  You can also front-load your investment into bitcoin by being overly aggressive in your DCA or even if you were to have lump sum funds that are available to you, whether transferring from another investments, some kind of payment for goods and/or services that you received or some other reason that you might come across some extra funds.. presumptively not from robbing banks or similar kinds of ways to come across extra funds.
I don't really like loans and I don't want to be having a urgency to sell even when the market is moving against all because I have to pay some silly debt when I know if I HODL I will get it back.
Yes I'm strengthening my programming skill in order to make better money and have a proper investment strategy. The dissappointing thing is that if only I had focused on a single language and masters it while building projects with it would have been better now but I was too picky, jumping from one to another at least Thank God I have accepted my foolishness and wants to do better, I guess with the 10 years works well
417  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 06, 2024, 09:25:23 AM
4k was exactly 4 years ago...
Time flies when you are having fun.

The last 4 years have been pretty good, relatively speaking, especially for any of us who had been in bitcoin and/or mostly established our position prior to 4 years ago.

On the other hand, anyone who might have had established their position at the top of the 2017 market and did not buy more BTC, those guys might have had suffered a bit in 2022, but if they continued to buy the whole time since 2017, they would be sitting quite pretty right now.

Even if a person from 2017 ONLY invested $100 per week over the last 7 years, he would have had invested right around $36,600 and he would have had accumulated right around 4.4623 bitcoin (currently valued at $306k, so profits on paper currently nearly 8.5x in profits).  Who's going to be complaining about those kinds of numbers for the BTC accumulator/HODLer?
Sometimes I wish If I could have been among those who knew the truth about bitcoin investment early around 2017  but I'm far from that and its quite unfortunate especially when you were holding onto some falsehood knowledge but I Thank God I can see things crystal clear now.

Though I can't accumulate more as you all but I hope in 20 years time I will be like you old folks speaking about bitcoin and I guess others will also view me as an earlier investor then

Well, your forum registration date is a year and a half, so there could be some possibilities that you could have come into bitcoin swinging and even front loaded your investment - but yeah, even with that, it would likely still be difficult to catch up to the earlier investors - which might be part of the legitimacy of the statement that "time in the market" is better than "timing the market."

So, you can choose your level of aggressiveness, and maybe it won't take 20 years for you to start to feel like an OG.  Many of us had started to feel somewhat like an OG after making it through 1 whole bitcoin cycle - and the more that you focus on BTC and don't get distracted by bullshit, then likely the better progress that you would be able to make within your own parameters.

Another thing is that you are likely your own best competitor in terms of figuring out ways to compete against yourself in terms of figuring out ways to help to make your own situation better without overly damaging yourself along the way.
My registration date is truly around that range but to be Frank I literally wasn't in to anything until last year when I literally started spending time on the forum, unlearning and learning since almost every knowledge I had about cryptocurrency were fallacy especially in relating to bitcoin, investment and privacy.

I did not accumulate enough bitcoin like I would have desire especially since I had some life expenses to deal with and wasn't thinking of taking loans don't really like that but I'm working on to an aggressive investment plan by adding additional skill that will fetch me good funds in taking care of expenses and having a constant DCA strategy aside using signature campaign for such
418  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Binance Will Discontinue Its Nigerian Naira Services After Government Scrutiny on: March 06, 2024, 08:14:56 AM
You see this statement right here
Quote
Binance reserves the right in its sole discretion to amend or cancel this announcement at any time and for any reasons without prior notice.

That statement right there is very risky and should be taken very seriously. Anyone who is using Binance for NGN and USDT trade should be very careful this period. If you must use them for trade, just don't have NGN on that exchange because anytime a hatch decision can be taken and your funds can just immediately be confiscated, and you will have nothing to do about it.
I don't think this is what they mean by saying they have total rights to cancel announcement without any notice, Binance exchange are no Saint but won't go this low in seizing customers funds, they will definitely affect their reputation globally. Another perceptive of this means that if they can come to an agreement with our government then this might be cancelled but I doubt ever happening now.

Instead of the government to look for ways to make Binance and all those other foreign exchanges to have offices in Nigeria so that they can regulate them and also be able to generate tax from Nigerians that are using the exchanges and also generating tax from Binance. Instead of that, they prefer to go the tough way of discouraging foreign businesses. If Binance do not provide the P2P services anymore, we can all see how those government officials handle the case like illiterates.
this was somehow excepted after our government detained 2 of their executives, which shows low level of human reasoning and made it clear that they were only care about giving Binance a fine and not thinking about proper regulations of these exchanges.

While Binance on the other hand will rather opt for this because after pleading guilty to US government charges and then this one, other countries government will definitely come for them and we know those governments will definitely see some issues like this also and then they will also want to milk from Binance.

But let's see how our government react to this news
419  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin price speculation (BTC/NGN) on: March 06, 2024, 07:12:14 AM
After hitting a new ATH against dollar (1BTC = $68,912.84) the new ATH against our naira is 1BTC = 107,573,639.129 NGN after which there was a significant dip to 95,004,969.151 ($60,861.22) NGN before retracing back to 103,612,355.538 NGN ($65,821.10).
source: Coingecko

The fall was from investors who were selling, as we could see that Mempool was congested at that time but I guess we might still see another ATH before halving since it is currently sitting against US Dollar at $65,821.10

420  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Binance Will Discontinue Its Nigerian Naira Services After Government Scrutiny on: March 05, 2024, 01:56:12 PM
After continuous scrutiny from the Nigerian government, it has become clear that Binance is not authorised to operate in Nigeria and so they have decided to stop every services they offer with our fiat currency (NGN).

Binance will delist every existing NGN pairs on Thursday and on Friday any accounts still having NGN, such NGN will converted to USDT with the ratio of 1 USDT = 1,515.13 NGN.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.coindesk.com/policy/2024/03/05/binance-will-discontinue-its-nigerian-naira-services-after-government-scrutiny/

Official binance news: https://www.binance.com/en/support/announcement/binance-to-discontinue-all-nigerian-naira-ngn-services-f9857dc2fea4448ba1fb8815d87d8144

There are other exchanges existing do well to move your funds there, which are offering NGN p2p like OKX, Bybit, Kucoin and others while if you consider not doing Kyc then you can pick from here:https://kycnot.me/ or can simply use {Active} BrainbossXchange Service {BTC/NGN Altcoins/Stablecoins/NGN} only.

We know Detaining Binance executives was so much uncalled for but will you entirely blame the government for this, since they never set any rules and regulations for the exchanges by which binance acted on before all these scrutiny all started?

Also do you think Binance failed on their attempt to find an agreement with our government or they afraid of another fine and so just opt for this method?
