Hey, is this website blocked in China or is 75.101.163.44 the wrong IP?  Huh
402  Economy / Services / Re: Cheap VPS Hosting - From 0.2 BTC to 1.1 BTC on: February 12, 2012, 04:09:34 PM
So basically i could use this service to wath US based online tv series and other stuff that need us based IP?

Yes, but it would require some setup. (A VPN setup would be needed. OpenVPN provides an extraordinarily easy to set up and connect "Easy Access" package that you could use. Perfect for newbies like me  Wink)

Firstly, I guess bravetheheat's on windows ...

List of known fixes for such and other similar problems (repeated here many times)

1) Read the README
or
2) just restart it over and over until it succeeds to generate the new *.bin
or
3) make sure you extracted all the files (including the new *.cl files)
or
4) Last resort: just rename the old *.bin files to the new names: replace 110817 with 120203 in the names

Edit: and the other repeated again and again info often need with problems:
the full output of 'cgminer -n' and some of 'cgminer -D -T' (obviously not all of it if cgminer is actually running ...)

First of all, I'm not on Windows Tongue I'm on Xubuntu 11.10 and I compiled both the source release and the git repo (so no fear of not extracting all the files). And I restarted over and over... AND I renamed the old .bin files. Still not working.  Sorry for not posting the output of the debug flags, though. That was something that I forgot to do.

Results of ./cgminer -D -T (with pool, user, and pass, of course) Might be a tad bit long:

EDIT 2: Copied over ./bin files in the AMD Stream 2.1 SDK to /bin/ I wonder why it wasn't documented and I only encountered it this time... Anyway, now there's a different error...

The new cgminer 2.2.4 doesn't seem to work with my discrete GPU + integrated GPU (though not used for mining) setup. It keeps giving me:
Code:

I think I'm getting the same issues as well... except it says that the Server Refused The Connection instead. Maybe the DNS record is stale and refers to a different IP? Or did you block the entirety of China...

Nvm, it seems that somebody has already inserted in the picture within your post for you.

Thanks for clearing up the issue Goat.  Smiley So what does this mean for your pool? Will we be expecting it to close?

I use "pool" because I know no other word to describe it.  Tongue

I know that I'm just one of the thousands of newbies around here, but I'd like to thank you for what you have done to help the bitcoin community. At the very least, I can see your post helping to promote p2pool.  Cheesy

I have all three cores now?  Shocked proc/cpuinfo shows me three amd cores at 3.86 GHz, and minerd gives me three threads at a full >4 khash each. What's going on? Huh

I believe 1 core is your allocation under full load; cores are split based on who is using them, so when no else is using them, you will receive all three. And, unless you're mining Litecoins, 4 Khash is way too slow, do you mean 4 Mhash?

After some more testing, it turns out that you might be right! Thanks for the clarification.  Cheesy

(Also i wouldn't worry about yours, I think you've been on one core sense boot....I'll change/doublecheck that after i add the RAM)

Thanks for the full core btw!  Grin I just noticed that after I checked /proc/cpuinfo. 3.86Ghz...  Wink What kind of cpu does the host have? It would have to be pretty new to have a (I'm assuming, since there are 2 "The Needy" and two "That One") four-core AMD processor clocked at 3.8...  Grin

3.9 Ghz Tri-core.... I have more CPU than a "The Needy" package? O_o

*Softcaps will change, progressively down to:
1/12(The Needy),
1/24(Special Sir), and
1/40(That One.) as the system gets more nodes on the system(It will never be loaded past 12GB for VPSes)

Question, will the softcaps go down for those who have already purchased a vps subscription?

Eveofwar, thank you also for the reply.  I was able to verify that I was running 11.10 on my old card.  I am running 11.10 on the new one, as well.  Is that what you're referring to when you say SDK?

Thanks,
WP

I think Eveofwar was referring to the AMD APP (or Stream) SDK, whereas you provided the versions of your AMD Catalyst.

Odd Undecided   I can't pull it up on my phone either. Thailand blocked it?

It's down for me too, but I'm in China. My miners, however, stopped working about 2 hours ago, I think.

EDIT: I fixed it by changing the DNS servers.

I just compiled the new cgminer direct from git using git clone and the steps recommended (./autogen.sh then CFLAGS="-O3 -Wall -march=native" ./configure)
I'm getting an incomprehensible bunch of data after a few minutes of mining (cgminer with -w 256 and --submit-stale shuts down and gives me this info):

419  Economy / Services / Re: Cheap VPS Hosting - From 0.2 BTC to 1.1 BTC on: February 06, 2012, 03:59:51 AM
These VPS' have the best 'bang for buck' value that I've seen on the web. I've been looking for a cheap VPS for ages, but I never did find one that would have enough resources to power what I want and still be cheap. These, though, are a clear exception! Where else can you get 2GHz of CPU, unlimited bandwidth, a decent amount of ram, and an awesome amount of HDD for such a low price?

Anyway, I've been testing the VPS for a while now, and I've got to say that I'm impressed! The connection speed is decent, it downloads from the ubuntu servers at around 600kbps. At the very least, the openvpn setup I ran on it is faster than the service that BTCLot provides (especially since I connect from China). The processing power is great! I have a dedicated athlon x2 3800+ rig that doesn't even catch up to what this vps can hash.  Wink

Tech support was also extremely fast, got replies and fixes within 10 minutes, most of the time only within 5. Overall, it's a great VPS service! Good job MrGaSp!!  Grin
