401  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Bitcoin 2014? on: August 23, 2013, 05:15:27 PM
There is still one more to go in 2013. It's in ATL.

Unfortunately I'll be unable to attend that one.
402  Bitcoin / Meetups / Bitcoin 2014? on: August 23, 2013, 01:04:09 PM
Is there any talk about the next major US bitcoin conference?  I'm interested in attending and would like to start making arrangements.  Any one have any word, or barring that a newsletter I can sign up for to get updates?  I believe the last one was in San Jose.
403  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 23, 2013, 10:59:58 AM
Yifu is communicating now as much as he did during the Batch #2 fulfillment period.  This cannot be a surprise.  These chips are late, but so was Batch #1 and Batch #2.  This knowledge was in front of you when you made the purchase.  Tell me what answer you will give to the judge when he says "Isn't that curious.  Tell me why you thought he would ship on time this time?"

This.

I for one fully expected some delay.  I am kind of surprised at the amount of venom oozing from this thread.  The delays are now getting kind of ridiculous and some good will compensation would be welcome from Yifu's side, but you all seem SO distraught by a delay that was pretty easily predicted.
404  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner USB group buy- orders closed, pay for extra! on: August 22, 2013, 08:19:44 PM
According to the spreadsheet there are a few laggers.

Pez: 4 extra, paid 0
digigami: 4 extra, paid 3
double.Cypher: 4 extra, paid 3
muyuu: 4 extra, paid 3

Line 58 says the user is "4", which I assume is a typo.

I've already got all I want for now (unless no one wants more, and then I guess I'd pay for extra), but if these are ready in a few days, you guys might want to get on the ball. Smiley
405  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner USB group buy- orders closed, pay for extra! on: August 22, 2013, 07:06:56 PM
ASICminer shares took a HUGE fall it's not even funny.

They peaked at what, 5 something? What's it down to? I haven't been watching. Might be worth taking a peak... I mean, hardware is solid, so what if they bungled this coupon thing.

The fall was because their dividend dropped this week.  Weak hands... weak hands.
406  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [REFUNDS PROCESSING] K1 Nanos - Big Picture Mining Cooperative on: August 22, 2013, 02:48:36 PM
Hey Bicknellski,

Are you getting any of the white K1 Nanos?  I'd be interested in purchasing one just for the LOLz.
407  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 2GH NinjaStick USB Miner powered by Bitfury on: August 22, 2013, 02:23:35 AM
0.5BTC/Gh/s in October?

Might be a fun toy ~1btc, but anyone paying 100BTC would be taking a huge risk in their ability to resell them for a profit, and they certainly wouldn't be very worthwhile to use in a big mining op.
ASICMINER has already Fucked people over 4 times and counting with their USB sticks... I think the suckers are getting wise...

Wait, you mean when they offered me a price and I agreed to pay it, they were actually fucking me over?  I didn't even realize...
408  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 21, 2013, 09:08:04 PM
I think trade-in and refunds refer to the Avalon units...
409  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner USB group buy REOPENED! (previous customers only!) .175 per unit! on: August 21, 2013, 08:22:44 PM
I've been in a few group buys for these.  Every other one has gone for "~30% of the users will get a coupon".  This one is the only one where 100% was stated.. but if you run the numbers, it's about 30% that shipped.

Time for mass refunds until if/when the next set becomes available?

M

i got confirmation from friedcat last night: original order is the limit, NOT 30%. 512 units available. everybody is welcome to order their original amount. you'll get it. more then that? we'll see how many are left. i don't think that the original buyers will all step forward, but as you can see from the spreadsheet, that hardly matters.
410  Economy / Securities / Re: [bitfunder] RentalStarter - A Midwest Real Estate Investment Company on: August 20, 2013, 12:56:16 AM
Can someone please explain to me how on earth you can get 20-30% rental yield in the united states? According to stats, the average yield is 3-7%.

Average yield is taken over a LARGE swath of statistics.  Some houses lie dormant, yielding 0%.  It has to be offset SOMEWHERE by higher yields.

And the US is fucking BIG.  So one house will not necessarily conform to statistics.

If anyone could get 20-30% yield than everyone on earth would buy houses in the US. I won't believe this until I see a tenant in the house, paying the rent that the OP claims for the expense incurred.

A lot of people DID buy houses in the US, which contributed to the enormous collapse in 2007.  The market is beginning to rebound, but even so, the glut in the housing market has made obtaining houses cheaper and demand for rentals higher.  It's not only plausible, but probable that a low income neighborhood can sustain those types of returns if the price is depressed enough.
411  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner USB group buy- orders closed, pay for extra! on: August 19, 2013, 10:15:01 PM
Argh is right.  I'm patient, but apparently some of these other folks aren't.  Wink

I'm betting that Friedcat is focused on getting the new blades out.  Hopefully he will get these USB miners out soon.

I have a vague feeling that I might be one "of these other folks" that you speak of! Smiley  Na, if Arklan can't do anything, he can't do anything.  I trust him and he's been good to me.  I just wish all of these ASIC suppliers would get their shit together and start delivering products on time.  I know the industry is new, but geez.
412  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: August 19, 2013, 08:18:34 PM
Hey Friedcat;

Not sure if you are actively monitoring this thread anymore, but you've got at least one group buy waiting on information regarding your Erupter sale.  Can you please PM arklan with info on when his order will be available?  I'm waiting (not so) patiently for you to fill his order so he can fill mine.  Can we get a time frame or something?

I just cleared my local cache and I'm still seeing a broken image...
414  Economy / Securities / Re: [bitfunder] RentalStarter - A Midwest Real Estate Investment Company on: August 19, 2013, 05:47:14 PM

What has this got to do with Bitcoins?

The assets, income, expenses and returns are all USD. This is a USD investment unrelated to the Bitcoin economy.

No shit sherlock!

"IPO" funds were raised by bitcoins seems related to me.

Thats all it has to do with Bitcoins.

Basically there are enough people who will invest in just about anything that says Bitcoin without any proper research, so it's good for the guys that raised the money and by the way I'm not in any way saying they don't have a great business model - they do.

The issue that people haven't realised that what they've done is in effect sell their precious BTC and buy USD and then invested in a USD real-estate fund. The fact that the USD will be then turned into BTC at future rates for payment is just a side-show.

Not quite a sideshow.  Anyone can buy in bitcoin (which lowers the barrier of entry for those who are out of the country) plus large investments via bitcoin don't have the same stringent requirements investments in dollars do.
415  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#1] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! Using JohnK as escrow! FINISHED! on: August 19, 2013, 02:42:36 PM
Hey guys,

I'm here right now, meeting with prodigits7 in Boston, MA. We're currently discussing NEO-ASICs logistics information and about shipping orders. The great news is that we can start shipping out right away, as soon as the chips arrive, so there's no lag time or delays in getting these units out to everybody that wants them. He's helping me get through everything right now, including this chip situation as well as my depression which has been very hard on me. So it's good to have support and somebody else that can help out as much as he can. Also JohnK or any other moderators can confirm my current location by checking the IP address of this post.

I'm sorry again for not getting back sooner but you will be hearing from me much more often and more frequently on here. I'm gonna try to post everyday on the Blog section of NEO-ASICs website as well. You can find that here: http://neo-asics.com/blog/

Already two days behind Raging.  Come ON man!
416  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 2GH NinjaStick USB Miner powered by Bitfury on: August 19, 2013, 02:14:13 PM
We're doing everything we can to get the price down as low as possible, but please have reasonable expectations as we can't sell them for less than the chips cost, plus theres a bunch of other parts, board, heatsink, and NRE costs that we have to recover.  These small units aren't going to have the world's best ROI, you can only get that promise when you buy $5k worth of vaporware.  Real things in hand cost more than powerpoint slides and renderings.

Anyhow we are trying to keep a sub $100 price point to give entry level miners some meaningful hashrate.

Hmm, I don't like your comment very much. ASICMINER USB sticks, a real product from a real competitor, is existing competition to your vaporware. Furthermore, and I can't believe this is not obvious, your production costs do not matter to the buyer and should not factor into their expectations.

At present asicminer USB sticks are 0.9BTC+ per GH.  At 0.5 this is a better deal.

However only time will tell whether roi is possible...

Right, if you have both options right now.  However, I guarantee that ASICMiner USB Erupters will drop to BTC.1 or less by October, especially in the secondary market.
417  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner USB group buy REOPENED! (previous customers only!) .175 per unit! on: August 19, 2013, 11:30:11 AM
I mistakenly thought (based on what i was told!) that I'd be getting the rest of the order shortly - like, several days ago. Thus i used the first batch of 154 to fill the bigger orders and the on from there. I am not sitting on any unshipped units right now. Like everyone waiting on USBs, i'm waiting on asicminer. I've read speculation that AM is focused on the mini blades, and that's the cause of the delay.

Make no mistake: i'm just sitting on the btc you've all sent me, waiting to be sent to fried cat.

Unfortunately, you fucked over the people who ordered in the first batch like me. I paid before you ordered the first batch and yet I have received nothing. Why did you decide to ship out of order and how did you decide that it was okay to fuck over your customers?

Can I have his? Smiley
418  Other / Meta / Black Box Theme "Ignore" button not showing up on: August 19, 2013, 11:22:21 AM
I just found out this morning that the "Ignore" button in classic skin gets darker the more people ignore a person.  This feature is not available in all skins.

Can this be addressed?  I'd prefer a black background but want to know if someone is widely seen in the community as a troll.
419  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: August 18, 2013, 12:45:37 AM
However, what happens if one of the batches never arrives at all, and Avalon never makes it right? In any scenario where at least one batch never arrives, then batch 6 buyers never gets their chips. Does that seem fair to you?

Most compelling point yet.

Except it DOES seem fair to me.  It's like saying "Do you think it's fair that the first 10 people at the Black Friday sale get the 10 $.99 TVs?"  Absolutely.
420  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 2GH NinjaStick USB Miner powered by Bitfury on: August 18, 2013, 12:25:49 AM
Guaranteed group buys will be interested.  I'd be up for organizing at least one.
EU or US?
If EU PM me when you do so please! thx

US.  It'll have to be after more details are announced.  It'll probably be for the October date and depends on the price and difficulty.  Right now Avalon K16s are 4.5 GH/s stock @ around $260 (hopefully delivered by September).  2BTC = around $230 for 2 GH/s so I'm not sure it'd be worth it for the September sticks.
