401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Doge coin is bad on: February 12, 2014, 04:01:31 PM
I said all this months ago.

dogecoin is a premeditated and well thought out attack on Bitcoin and all coins by those hoping to destroy them.
Since almost none of you see it, I believe it was a successful attack for phase 1.  Phase 2 was likely carried out with relative success over the past few days.

thousands of khs fraudsters conspiring to take down btc, such humor, much stupidity

Quote
thousands of hopeful entrepreneurs unknowingly helping a small group of conspirators attempt to trivialize and destroy BTC, such truth, much sad.

403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Fuck Cryptsy, Fuck Cryptsy, Fuck Cryptsy on: February 11, 2014, 09:45:12 PM
Guys the team is working very hard to get to every deposit issue. Why any one particular coin is taking longer could be numerous reasons. We are working on our end to speed things up and hope to have it all zippy soon. This is probably the most popular release coin we have had with massive numbers of deposits etc. Bare with us your coins will show up.

After no replies to my numerous PM's and tweets, I will ask here in a conspicuous way because:

A) I am annoyed with the lack of response from Vern and yourself.

2) Maybe you have just missed all of my and other requests and want to make sure you see it.

WHEN WILL EVERYONE ON YOUR SITE BE ABLE TO WITHDRAW THEIR YACOIN BALANCES?  EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT HAS YACOIN ON YOUR SITE HAS BEEN UNABLE TO WITHDRAW FOR THE PAST 2+ WEEKS. THIS EQUATES TO 10'S OF THOUSANDS OF YAC'S AT A MINIMUM AND IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. IF YOU ARE WAITING FOR THE FORK, WHICH SHOULD ACTIVATE TOMORROW, THEN LET US KNOW. IF NOT, RETURN EVERYONE'S YACOINS IMMEDIATELY
THANKS.

EDIT: Coins have been returned. Lack of communication during the process was still unacceptable.
404  Other / Off-topic / I just read on the internetz that a giant comet is heading for Earth on: February 11, 2014, 06:22:32 PM
and will DESTROY EVERYTHING including possibly Bitcoin and a portion of the moon as well.

Can someone confirm? In the meantime I will try to keep calm.
405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Proof of Stake Coin List on: February 10, 2014, 08:04:01 PM
Now everyone knows the big names - Peercoin and Novacoin.

YACoin is (I believe) the third proof of stake coin to be released (Peercoin->Novacoin->YACoin) and also the originator and first to implement the N parameter of Scrypt(N, 1, 1).
406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] YACoin ongoing development on: February 09, 2014, 08:05:27 PM
Cryptsy has held my Yacoin in limbo for months now. What a disappointment this coin has been now that Vertcoin is surging forward. Can't help but feel like somebody got screwed here. Seems like all the coins older than two months better rebrand themselves if they want to survive. Trying to wrap my head around the enormous disparity between the two coins and the massive amounts of posts in the forums. Seems to be a trend. Coins that have been around for 6 months to a year have about a tenth of the posts as coins from the last two months.

It's called "pump and dump".  Check back in 2 years. I'm pretty certain YACoin will still be around. I'm pretty certain many of the others will not.

I can't start wallet 0.4.2 on win 8.1 x64!!
Help and advice needed!
Thanks!

Error messages and other info would be helpful. Is this a new install, or are you upgrading? If upgrading from something other than 0.4.1, you'll need to backup everything to another folder, delete everything except for wallet and re-download the blockchain.

I have just moved wallet.dat from another pc, installed 0.4.2 and it starts, but as soon as it starts to load blockchain, it crashes!?!?

On the other PC, were you running version 0.4.1?

No. 0.4.2 and win 7. On this pc 3 other coin wallets working ok, but, Yac doesn't want to?!?

Update: It worked after few resets and deleting everything from the Roaming/YACoin folder.

Good to hear. I have a new win 7 partition that I am going to use for windows builds in the future, so hopefully that will help with stability on win 7 and 8?
408  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / I will give 100,000 YACoins... on: February 05, 2014, 09:35:55 PM
to the first person that can successfully mine a YAC block with an ASIC.  Wink

Good luck!

410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Biggest Pump in Crypto History is Coming.. on: February 04, 2014, 08:59:02 PM
Network change to prevent POS->POW block orphan issue is taking effect sometime around 2/10 for YAC. So, I am going to say YACoin. If not, it should be  Wink

Very cool. Maybe this can be tagged and added as a "release" @ https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin for archival purposes?

OK, let's try something different.

Also, 16 LTC bonus paid among the first 8 block finders!

Paid as follows:

block 1  = 10
block 2  = 0
block 3  = 0
block 4  = 0
block 5  = 1
block 6  = 2
block 7  = 1
block 8  = 2

OK, we have a few miners... finally  Wink  Yes, it will statistically take a bit before we find our first block, BUT you will get a bigger piece of it, so it should even out.
With the bonus, you should do better than your current pool.

Still waiting for our first block!

In order to get started, we are implementing 0% fees.  You will still have the option to donate and we ask that you do. Help secure the Litecoin network by spreading the hash rate among a bunch of pools, including our own, instead of just a few.   Cool

418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] yacoin: yet another altcoin. START is now. on: January 31, 2014, 07:56:31 PM
I have some hardware lying around that I've put Ubuntu 12.1 on and running the yacoind daemon.

This is the first time I'm trying to run any Linux-based crypto wallet.

Everything seems to work fine - it downloaded the blockchain etc., but I've set it to generate, and the hashespersec is staying at 0.

Any idea what can be going on? I'm using the ppa:yacoin/yacoin install.

Sometimes it takes a bit to update. Are you still having the issue?
419  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] yacoin: yet another altcoin. START is now. on: January 31, 2014, 07:38:33 PM
Just wait until Cryptsy returns the YAC trading pairs. If they don't have YAC up in the next couple days, I will be sending them some emails and I strongly urge others to do the same.

Please do - maybe if enough of us "bother" them for basic customer service and the decency of a reply, they will actually respond.    I've sent PM's and a bunch of requests through @cryptsy.   Still nothing.

BigVern and company, I understand you're busy, overwhelmed with all the new customers and probably way understaffed, but there are a lot of people with a lot of YAC on your site that have been waiting for a reply for weeks!

There were at least 2 tweets today already for some problem with DOGE,  so really WTF???
