401  Economy / Economics / Re: The cost of living is trying to kill the living on: March 08, 2023, 02:12:43 PM
~snip~

Everybody must learn to cut their cost of living by all means. Learning addition skills and securing extra jobs might be another means of overcoming this hard life. The government must also make policies that will help alleviate the suffering of the masses.

~snip~

I don't disagree with everything your said about cooperative. It is one of the potent solutions to the current food and other essential commodities crisis most people are facing due to this global economic problems. But currently, human needs has become very complex and might not be handled by cooperative. Human need more than food and other basic needs to live a comfortable life. And most of these essential commodities are controlled by big companies that are not willing to lose their influence on they have on the people. Data and airtime for internet and phone communication might not be basic needs but they are so essential that some people might not be able to survive without them.
Indeed, coz up to this day I can still see lots of co-ops in my own country. I am todays age when I learned that it was the purpose of co-ops. Before, I knew that it has a good purpose not knowing it has deep history related to economy. As what I can see here in my country, modern co-op has been used as a business propaganda for people in rural/urban cities.

I also agree that it would be dificult right now to let go of the convenience we experience, I don't know about other people but personally I can handle it slightly. This is also one of the downsides of having tech reliable economy, coz if things happen like that hopefully not, people are going to have a hard time.
402  Economy / Economics / Re: Twitter becoming Worlds biggest Financial Institution? on: March 08, 2023, 07:52:25 AM
Musk is diving into the world of dreams and wishful thinking. Grin He was dreaming about creating a cheap Tesla car(which won't happen).
Now, he wants to turn Twitter into a "financial institution"? How the hell does he plan to do this? Turning a Twitter into an online marketplace like eBay and Amazon? Letting the users send and receive payments between each other? What would be the incentive for them to use Twitter payments, instead of Paypal, Venmo, Zelle, Revolut or any other online payment provider(or cryptocurrencies)?
There's nothing wrong with being a dreamer, but you look ridiculous, when there's no possible way to achieve your dreams.
He is doing experiments on the platforms at the same time provoking other companies related or non related to his platform. As we could see clearly by his attitude, he is somewhat telling that he could offer or provide better services compared to those leading/pioneer payment system. As much as I hate it because of his nonchalant attitude, he also has a tendency of hyping things, and when he gets bored he will shift his attitude 180°. Although we cannot judge him due to his ability to stir up things and actually do it because of he is rich, he's like teaching younger generations to join trends just because it it hype. Even if we say it's none of our business, it will still have an impact on the economy. We'll just have to wait and see what he will do next.

404  Economy / Economics / Twitter becoming Worlds biggest Financial Institution? on: March 08, 2023, 04:39:00 AM
The owner of the social media platform Twitter said during his conference on March 7 Here, that he is optimistic for his company becoming cashflow positive. Although he didn't directly stated that he won't be integrating crypto currency, he wants his social media platform to offer powerful finance system that is more superior than PayPal.

On his interview last year, he said that he slowly shifted his focus from crypto to AI, and stated that blockchain based twitter isn't possible. Due to his inconsistent behavior and doing things on a whim, we are left here thinking what crazy things he will do next. As previously, he was the one hyping about cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Doge, and SHIB.

406  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Adoption To Grow 50% By 2025, This Report Claims on: March 08, 2023, 02:28:00 AM
It's as if he was declaring that it will become the next reserved currency. We are all aware that there is a heavy requirements to become a reserve currency. I may not be an expert when it comes to financial aspects on the global economy, but I know for sure that China is one of the candidates to be the center of economy and make yuan a reserved currency. In fact China isn't the only one to qualify as far as I can remember.

Maybe in some big global adjustment that will happen in 50 or 100 years, but in order for the Chinese to succeed in imposing their national currency, changes would have to take place that seem unrealistic from today's perspective. Countries like the US, UK, EU or Canada have business relations with China because it provides them with cheap labor and logistics, but politically they do not agree with Chinese politics, which is still full of communist doctrines.
That's also true. Realistically, it would be much more difficult for people like me who're living in a 3rd world country if it happens that China will become the global center of economy. Just like what's quoted above, communist economy is like a humane way of implementing dictatorship.
407  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Value till 2033? on: March 07, 2023, 03:57:01 PM
I'll throw out a random guess here.
10 years from now makes it impossible to make accurate estimates (accurate meaning +-50%) because:
- black swan events cannot be predicted  and could even account for things like almost total loss of BTC value or BTC becoming the world's reserve currency
- white swan events, including unexpected mass-adoption, big-corp and government support, mega-innovations that will integrate BTC into everything etc
- (hyper)-inflation, which would increase USD value, but not the real purchasing-power of bitcoin

However, without any of the above happening, I' give it a 85% chance to be (way above) $100k in 2033, valued up to $1,500k (if halving effect and legislation etc all work out perfectly).

Almost everyone who knows crypto from way back when it first started could literally say that bitcoin has risen up significantly, but if you asked us what will happen on the next 5 or 10 years? Of course there're people who will speculate about the price and the big events to come, but there will be people like me who would say that "we don't know what crypto has to offer us for the next 5 to 10 years but we know it'll rise".
408  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Adoption To Grow 50% By 2025, This Report Claims on: March 07, 2023, 01:07:05 PM
Quote
Around 97% of the respondents in the survey believe that crypto payments will have a major role in faster payments within the next three years. Over half of the surveyed leaders expect most merchants to adopt crypto payments within this period.

Although Bitcoin is mentioned here, it is obvious that the main focus is on something else - namely altcoins and CBDC, which leads to the conclusion that Bitcoin is just bait, and the average reader should swallow something completely different if they believe the story. If 97% of respondents have a positive opinion that "crypto" will play a major role in fast payment systems in the next three years, should we even doubt who they asked that question to?

If you asked that question to the technologically aware Chinese, what would they say? Well, a few years ago, an article appeared about an allegedly influential crypto miner from China who stated the following :

Chandler Guo was a pioneer in cryptocurrency, the digital currencies that can be created and used independently of national central banks and governments.
In 2014 he set up an operation to produce one of those currencies, Bitcoin, in a secret location in western China.
---
But now he sees a new force emerging - a payment system created by the Chinese state and known as Digital Currency Electronic Payment (DCEP). It's really a digital version of China's official currency, the yuan, and Mr Guo feels DCEP will become the dominant global currency. "One day everyone in the world will be using DCEP," he says.
409  Economy / Gambling / Re: I got frusted please help? on: March 07, 2023, 09:33:50 AM
For a long time, I have been searching for gambling sites with cheaper deposit so that I could afford to play mini games, and one thing I find during those times is that, there may be sites with lower deposit requirement, but there is no such thing as no wwithdrawal requirement. This'll make it easier for people to plot schemes if there is one, or it could also be a site that isn't legitimate.
410  Economy / Economics / Re: Money is for the important things on: March 07, 2023, 05:23:51 AM
Most of the time, people associate money as the root of all evil, but I don't think so. Most common debates amongst the crowd are with this topic which can be refute by saying " that depends on how you handle your money", which is actually TRUE. Ever since the beginning of humanity, we people are gathering resources in order to sustain ourselves, even right now what we still gather are resources, money which can be used to pay for our food and shelter and other needs.

Although we seek greater fortune in order to live our lives more comfortably, it is safe to say that we should still view money as money and use it for what it was intended.
411  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Importance of cryptocurrency to global economy on: March 07, 2023, 04:39:06 AM
The topic is not something new in this forum, it has been discussed several times, and we do understand that you are new to this so for the sake of it I'll provide some realistic answers.

As of now cryptocurrency is still too far from becoming a mainstream or even an alternate payment system;

1. Internet Connection - This alone is already a huge hurdle to tackle and up until now most of the 3rd world countries doesn't have stable access to internet.

2. Education - Even if we say that 70% or 80% of the population is financially literate, trying and implementing cryptocurrency to most of the people would also be a huge problem. As you have also known that in order to access cryptocurrency and use it, there are several steps like registering and knowing which and what kind of crypto they'd be doing transactions, and in short it is quite complicated to understand at the very beginning. It's true that it takes time to be able to understand those things, but as of now, there is not enough facility to accommodate those kinds of education and even if you are lucky enough to have one on your area, for sure there are only few people that are interested on those things (one reason is that they rely on the traditional payment system which much more easier to understand).

Summary: I could say this based on what's currently happening on my own country. Even if the benefits are great, crypto will always be far from those famous hype way back years ago which is "Cashless Society".

One of the first sites that actually gave me real satoshis back then. I have tried several faucets and such, but almost all of them are not the real, while some actually gives you satoshis, it'll take a long time for you accumulate enough satoshis to withdraw.

Back then I remembered, it was early 2017 that year when I won the pot money of the roulette, that was also the first time I have become a member of this forum. Although I have won only a couple of bucks around $10, it was sti helpful for me, coz it paved the way on my trading adventures. I made it my initial trading investment, and as far as I can remember that tiny bit of satoshi reached $500 after practicing trading with stratis and xrp. By the way I started my trading adventures on poloniex, cheers to those who knew that platform.
414  Economy / Economics / Re: How to spend money determines whether you can avoid unnecessary problems on: March 06, 2023, 10:00:13 PM
What the OP is talking about is someone who spends more money on fun or things that are not really needed. And of course this type of person is the type of person who is called a waste.

people who often commit extravagance are those who are not good at managing finances and those who tend to prioritize wants over needs. And. of course everyone who has mature and logical thinking will not do this without needing to be reminded by someone.

because if we think logically (common sense) then of course we will know how to spend our money to be more effective. Recognizing which types of needs and which types of desires are actually not needed is a basic thought that we must have.
It would always correlate with wants and needs. I once saw a video about how people couldn't save money due to increase of salary = change of lifetsyle. Like it or not, there will be people who will it this way, increase on income resulting to increase of expenses, which is not healthy and it would be a huge habitual problem. If you think about it carefully, there is no problem increasing expenses if those spendings are intended for a good cause (needs), but there're people who do this just to support their wants, and I've seen a lot of this people, from distant relatives to some of my acquintances, and of course I'd be hesitating telling them it's a bad habit, coz in the end, I'll become the antagonist they would just tell me to mind my own business.

416  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading as a newbie? on: March 06, 2023, 11:56:41 AM
Been watching lots of reviews and tips about trading few years ago, and I could say that, yes, you can gain a certain amount from that, but not all the time. I remembered way back, I have a trading mentor (privately), told me that it's much better for me buy and hold rather than doing quick trades, coz it'll benefit me in the long run. So, I did and luckily, I didn't regret it. Months ago, when I was looking for some youtube videos, I stumbled upon a video by Graham Stephan talking about investments and reviews about other people's lives as a trader. He mentioned that based on studies (I forgot what study that is) stated that those who bought, and hold are more profitable than doing quick trades. I've never really took quick trades seriously but based on my experience and several people, they found it more profitable to make it as an investment, buying whenever they have spare cash rather than making it as quick cash grab. Personally, I could only say that it depends on what method best applies to you since you are also making it for the sake of having a side hustle.
417  Economy / Gambling / Re: We NEED Bitcointalk Members Feedback on Casino Challenges! on: March 06, 2023, 11:17:01 AM
This'll be a great idea. Personally, as a casual player/gambler, I don't stick too much on the casino, but it will be different when this Casino Challenges will be introduced. Regarding the actual site, I really liked it since it is much easier to use and understand and there is no need to look for options or choices which game you are playing or betting. I know this is insignificant but in my country in which there are people who liked to gamble online but doesn't have much idea what Crypto is, you can recommend this site to them to explore. Additionally, on different platforms there are only limited events or games you can choose from, but we know that people not only those heavy gamblers, wants to gamble occasionally just to have fun or within their friend groups.

Search at your own risk parin mga kabayan.
420  Economy / Economics / Re: Money and education on: March 06, 2023, 06:47:07 AM
Here in my country, education is directly related to money. Years ago I was watching this anime HunterxHunter, and there is this particular scene on the show in which an aspiring hunter wants to become a hunter to continue his medical degree. I couldn't forget what he said on the specific scene where he shared that his childhood friend died to a disease which is curable but needs hefty sum of money for treatment. He said that "I was a fool for thinking that I could become a doctor and treat poor people and tell them it's free, but it turns ot in order for me to become a doctor I need more money" and so he says "Money is the most important thing in the world", although not that much but the reality we live nowadays is somehow close to what the show portrays.
