4041  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What role did drugs play in the ascendency of Bitcoin? on: February 26, 2014, 01:41:52 AM
The media probably invented most of the FUD to sell headlines so they could buy drugs with cash.
4042  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas Antonopolous and Stefan Molyneux - Interview on: February 26, 2014, 12:39:17 AM
Stefan has grown on me, at least with these discussions. These two are both brilliant and great speakers. It will be interesting to hear what they find to discuss as I think they are probably very like-minded.

MultiSig page: https://coinb.in/multisig/

Our P2P Fiat-BTC Exchange is based on 2of2 MultiSig and that game theoretical approach:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=462236

Basically the concept is sound, but there are a few weak points which are hard to solve:
- Blackmail
- Irrational attackers
- Unintended failure (hard disc crash, death,...)
- System attacker who does not care about costs

Reputation is probably inevitable as identity is leaked due the trade and will open up a blackmail attacks as well (defame other trader as scammer in forum,....).

Nice. I might try this first with a testnet client with test coins. I hope others will as well. Mostly I am concerned about the transaction size. I thought that was the limitation for only 3 signatures at the moment.

4045  Economy / Goods / Re: Bitcoins for Maserati or Second hand Honda? on: February 25, 2014, 12:52:06 AM
Rassah paid more for a Prius than Goat paid for a Lamborghini (or was it a Maserati?) a year later. Both were happy with their choices. Greed isn't going away and neither is Bitcoin. You have to decide what will make you happy.
4046  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2014-02-23 Mt. Gox CEO Resigns From Bitcoin Foundation on: February 24, 2014, 06:23:04 AM

^^^ I second that. Get rid of all of the so called reps of BTC. Bitcoin has reached another growth level where it can sustain itself on its own. It doesn't need the helping hands to keep it up. Hell, disolving the BTC Foundation would yield good in the end. The true reps of BTC are the markets themselves and the millions of transactions that are carried out via BTC. This is only grow with time. Gox going away along with BTC Foundation would have more good come out of it than bad. Better correct the big mistakes now before they become 'too-big-to-fail' problems and will have to loose an arm and leg. Nuff said Smiley
Yes. Get rid of them. I'll wait in the car.

I think Max does what Stacy tells him to do. He just says whatever crap comes out of his mouth, but sometimes he's right. Most of the time he's just a showman. I believe he is sincere. A rally is due and back to 1000 by spring, baby!

Where did all the volume on Mt Gox go?
4051  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2014-02-23 Mt. Gox CEO Resigns From Bitcoin Foundation on: February 24, 2014, 04:01:07 AM

I dont have problem with anyone starting such club.

But i do have problem if they deceivingly name it "Bitcoin Foundation"

Change the name and stop "representing" the community. Noone voted for them

Then call it "The Real Bitcoin Foundation." You could ask for dues and then allow due paying members to vote for officials.

That should free up some his time to work on more important issues.  Roll Eyes

That means either someone from foundation or Karpeles are selling coins.

Or anyone that bets on news.

I call it Wall of Intimidation. It will evaporate. Then the Tsunami: A big pump.

4058  Economy / Speculation / Re: Chinese corrupted officers will push Bitcoin price up 1000 times on: February 24, 2014, 02:24:18 AM
In China Bitcoin isn't a currency, it's a commodity (The central bank said so, I've been trolling them zealots with it for quite some time)

Why would a zealot care how you label it? I certainly don't.

Bitcoin's properties are it's properties and it can do what it does no matter what you call it.

You aren't the typical Bitcoin zealot. People who are hell bent on attributing Bitcoin to the currency category may even a good description of one. Grin
I love philosophical debates.

4060  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Who is working on Bitcoin3? on: February 24, 2014, 01:30:45 AM
With B2 level code there isn't going to be a network effect advantage as Mastercoin, Counterparty, and Colored Coin all use the same protocol layer. None of them will become universally accepted, but instead will compete as local currencies and derivatives. Bitcoin will be the SDR/Gold. B2 will be used by enterprises willing to back them either financially or by fiat.

People should be working on B3 software instead of re-inventing the wheel and muddying the waters with completely new coins  or they will have the same done to them as technology improves. nLockTime and m-of-n have so much potential when custom clients are designed that manage them. The next Excel type spreadsheet that incorporates triple entry accounting for a transparent corporate structure would revolutionize small business and cottage industries.

What can I say when it comes to real ambitious projects like Ethereum? The theory is that Ethereum would make secondary instruments much easier and versatile because there is increased functionality in the protocol. I am reminded of the KISS principle. Bitcoin's simplicity may be it's strength. If you screw up something built on top of it, at least you don't break the whole thing.

All of life is based on only four DNA letters. Sure it's messy and inefficient, but life's simplicity also makes it adaptable. Complex systems are parasitically joined to create new ecosystems. It's called emergent complexity. A simple system acts like a glue that allows very complex systems to evolve. Bitcoin is like DNA. Ethereum is likely to be too internally complex and won't be easy to adapt to future technological advances. It may end up that Ethereum functionality becomes just as deprecated as Bitcoin and that Bitcoin developers will solve the problems.

Wouldn't it just be better to develop closed sourced, trust-based, and proprietary B2 and B3 for private interests if you just want to develop cool new things for money? I am sure there is already plenty of that going on. Cryptocurrency speculators should be wary of B2 scamcoins. Let corporations develop them and pay for them. Bitcoin is the stock they will need as operating capital.

Finally, there will be a B4. I'm not saying it's aliens...
