4041  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Salary paid in crypto. Best practices/services/low fees? on: November 30, 2021, 12:33:22 PM
One possible direction would be something like Binance card, which you may top up with fiat whenever you want or top up with crypto (depending on what you expect on short time - increase or fall of the price). The fees related to the card are small, the conversion rate cannot be better
I second that, Binance card is a good way to spend your crypto for everyday needs, if you don't mind doing KYC on Binance. Deafault cashback (1%) basically covers the fees (0.9%) so from that point of view, you won't find a cheaper way to spend your crypto. On top of that, you can use it for ATM cashout but daily limit is pretty low, only 290 euro. The only problem with Binance card is that is not 100% reliable so every once in a while you card will get rejected for no obvious reason. Beside that, it serves me well as I got sick of paying 6-7% fee on BATM.

Solid alternative to Binance card is Coinbase-Revolut combo. It is not as easy to use as Binance card as you have to send money from Coinbase to Revolut (its basically instant but its still an xtra step) but Revolut card is far more reliable.
4042  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lack of NFT technology on: November 30, 2021, 08:22:08 AM
It must be killing bitcoin that it can't do NFTs.  Eth is so much more capable in some respects.   Wink
Yeah you are right, one look at bitcoin price and everything is obvious. What a bad troll attempt...

In a year or two NFT will be dead like ICO is now.
Wouldn't be so sure. True, heavily inflated and manipulated JPEG market will probably crumble but I think that NFTs will become an important part of for example  gaming industry as "play to earn" is becoming a thing now. And when you take into consideration that gaming is by far the biggest entertainment industry  (bigger than a whole movie and music industry combined), no wonder that games that are using NFTs are popping left and right. Vast majority of them are still browser-style crap, but soon AAA stuff will start coming out, when major game studios realize the potential to make even more money that way.
4043  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Mjesečna Analiza za Hrvatsku Lokalnu Zajednicu (Bitcointalk Croatian) on: November 29, 2021, 12:51:05 PM

Cisto brojcano, i dalje to izgleda sasvim ok

Lista aktivnih clanova naseg boarda u periodu 1.10-31.10.

Cheesy

4044  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 1xbit scam company? on: November 28, 2021, 03:23:42 PM
I am assuming you search about 1xbit after lost fund. So take a lesson from here. Whenever you move into a new gambling site, please research as much you can. So you might realize how they are behaving with the customer. Don't believe always online positive reviews, would be manipulated So visit multiple sources to a deep check.
Big part of the problem is that 1xbit is aggressively advertising all over the place, just take for example Coinmarketcap. For huge majority of newbies that's the place where they go to find about coin prices, mcaps and all the other info, so when 1xbit pops up, they think it's a legit site as they don't think that something as popular as CMC would advertise a scam gambling site. Of course, once they get scaammed they type "1xbit scam" or something along those lines and that's how they stumble upon bitcointalk.

Just take a look at this juicy 1xbit ad on CMC saying "get your 7 BTC here". I mean, who doesn't want 7 BTC?  No wonder that bunch of people swallow the bait and register there.

4045  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHEN DO YOU BUY BITCOIN? on: November 28, 2021, 03:03:05 PM
Haha. I think this is the most frequently asked question for us. I am in crypto since 2013. But most of the time I didn't HOLD my coins. I regret this.
Rare are those that managed to HODL since 2013 without selling anything so you shouldn't beat yourself about it. I enetered crypto at similar time (late 2013) and also had to sell some of my crypto from time to time, sometimes even when price was really low but that's just how it goes. Luckily, I only sold the bare minimum I had to due some unforeseen expenses so I managed to hodl majority

I don't know what is Dollar-cost average method is. But, As I mentioned before, I do this to buy BTC,
So, lets say that you want to buy BTC for 1200 USD, but you don't really feel like giving all the money at once so what you can do instead is to divide that money and buy let's say 100 USD worth of BTC each month, no matter the price. That way you are averaging your entry price and you reduce  impact of volatility. It takes some patience though, but in the long run it works 100% of the time. Well, when it comes to BTC at least, I would never use that method for any other cryptocurrency.
4046  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 1xbit scam company? on: November 28, 2021, 11:44:47 AM
Sorry to hear that you are yet again 1xbit customer that got scammed. I am not sure that much can be done as they have long history of such behavior without people getting their money out, and numerous similar topics made here on bitcointalk.

You can keep (I guess) trying to figure out way to get your money back, but considering who you are against in this case, I would simply forget about the money and take it as a lesson.
4047  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHEN DO YOU BUY BITCOIN? on: November 28, 2021, 11:37:32 AM
I was asked exactly this question by my next door neighbor, that know I am into crypto as we hang out from time to time and since he is IT guy, that topic eventually popped up.

Since he has regular income and decent salary but not much money saved as he had some big expenses recently, I suggested him to start buying bitcoin using dollar cost average method, investing basically as  much as he can afford without cutting something important. In the end he decided to invest like 100 euro on the bi-weekly basis. Worst of all, we had exactly the same convo like year and half ago when I told him to start slowly using DCA method, but many like him though that it's too late now (back then BTC was around $10k).

4049  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: November 26, 2021, 09:51:31 AM

Yes, you know, @Rikafip, this is something that happens when you rush to the update! Next time you’d better take your time  Grin
Haha yeah lesson learned, I won't rush next month.  Wink

I hope you didn't feel offended. I just wanted to let you know so that you can fix it. I appreciate your patience. This kind of research and analysis is really tough. I saw LoyceV Doing the same thing and he has few threads like this.
Of course I am not offended, no worries about that. Mistakes happen, I sorted it out and that's about it. Regarding the effort needed to make this, to be honest @DdmrDdmr and @TryNinja are the ones that are really putting a lot of effort and without their tools I wouldn't be able to do any of the stuff here. So they are the ones that are doing the heavy lifting, I am more like piggybanking.  Grin

Few questions, I am still a newbie learning every day. I am curious about how you got that data? Do have access to the database? I visited Loyce. club and saw he provided tons of data on his website. Are there any secret options? Don't laugh at me. 😇
As mentioned in my overview, I am using 2 great tools: @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard and @TryNinja Ninjastic.space.

Q2. What are DT-1 and DT-2? How to become a DT member? How can I know that the guy is a DT member? Does DT mean Default Trust?
For start, I recommend that you read LoyceV's Beginners guide to correct use of the Trust system].

Hehe. It's happened often with me. Whenever I try to do something faster, I made mistakes. xD
That was actually a joke because I really slacked (yet again) and made this overview much later, as I used to do it at the beginning of each month.

Thank you very much for Your Nice Stats.
But, Here I found something interesting. IDK if I am wrong. here it is
You are not wrong, I made a mistake. As you pointed out, I (out of laziness)  just copy/pasted that title from the previous month and forgot to change from "September" to "October", but table is correct.  Anyway, it's been sorted out now and thanks for letting me know.
4051  Other / Meta / Re: Disadvantages of non detectable early Plagiarism on: November 24, 2021, 11:49:55 AM
I usually just Google it:
Same thing here. I tried several different tools, but in the end I just stick to the simple Google search that proved to be the most effective way and more than in enough in 99.99% of the cases.

Google gives you raw result and you can only estimate the percent of plagiarism between original and plagiarized post.
I might be wrong here, but I don't think  that percentage of the plagiarized material makes any difference when it comes to deciding whether someone will get banned or not. At least I haven't noticed any difference.

4054  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: November 23, 2021, 09:05:34 PM

Unfortunately, a further decline in forum activity is evident and it is now an obviously unstoppable trend that will be very difficult to reverse.
Yeah I think that many of us (I certainly did) expected to see much bigger numbers and new members coming at the start of the bull run year ago. But as we can see, all this hype and news didn't bring many new people in local boards, and situation is not any better in the general part of the forum as well.

I still keep sending to bitcointalk all new people I met in RL that are interested in Bitcoin. I must admit that I didn't have much luck yet, but will keep doing the same.
4055  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Binance is advertising in Buenos Aires on: November 23, 2021, 02:53:03 PM
So a couple of days ago, I was walking in Buenos Aires and I saw a bunch of big Binance ads (pay with BTC, etc. The kind of ads aimed to the regular Joes, not to investors).
Is anybody else seeing that kind of advertising in their city?
I live in a pretty big city and I haven't seen anything like that yet, no exchanges are anything crypto related advertising here yet.  Argentina is a big market so I guess Binance is spreading there.

To be honest, I'm kinda worried they might wake up to cryptocurrencies and start taxing them...
That's just matter of time, whether we like it or not and no matter the country. All we can do is enjoy while it lasts as once crypot makret becomes big enough, all countries will want even bigger piece of cake than they are taking now.

4057  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Bot Recomendation??? on: November 23, 2021, 09:48:58 AM
..any point of view of suggestion that in your guys mind using about trading bot Wink
I tried using trading bot once couple of years ago (friend bought a bot so I also put some money into it and let it trade) and managed to lose like 90% of my money so yeah, so yeah that was the lesson for me not to do stuff I know nothing about/don't have enough time to figure it out properly and I would advise you to do the same as there is no way to earn money without some effort.

As @Bitcoin_Arena  said, this topic should be in trading discussion section but since you probably don't know how to move it there, I reported it do the mods so they will sort that out.

4058  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: November 23, 2021, 07:57:01 AM
Time for yet another brief monthly overview of the local board activity, and yet again I am late so apologies for that. All charts and tables are made with he help of two excellent tools: @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboardand @TryNinja Ninjastic.space

Communities that are marked with * don't have their own local boards. At least not yet, but hopefully that will change.

Post activity per local board during October 2021

With 20942 posts being written during October, local boards remained similar activity compared to September and 21454 posts being written, which is barely noticeable change.

When it comes to the most active boards, no change at the top; Russian board is far ahead the others with 7262 posts, followed by Turkish and German boards. Standarsd names are at the bottom too, which are usually reserved for Greek and Dutch boards.

For quite some time Turkish board has numbers very similar to Russian, but in the last month they had huge decrease of post activity, going down from 6099 in September to 3541 posts written in October, which is ~40% decrease. Amplitudes of that magnitude happen often on the smaller board, but very rarely on such a big board as theirs.

Merit shared per local board during October 2021

During October, 9332 merits were shared across 20 local boards ( to be more precise, 17 local boards+3 communities without) which is pretty decent increase (approximately 16%) compared to September and 6956 merits.

Like with the post activity, no changes at the top here either; Russian is far ahead, followed by German, Turkish and Italian boards.

Big (pleasant) surprise this month is German board with 1826 merits shared that makes it an incredible ~220% increase compared to September and only 571 merits shared. I have no idea what happened there, but it's nice to see German board recovering like that as they had negative trend for a long time. As a matter of fact, this is their by far the best result, as the closest one to October was December 2019 with 1373 merits shared.

When it comes to merit increase, it is also worth to mention Italian board that had almost 40% increase compared to September, making October their personal best month, merit-wise. Big surprise here is Pakistan community as well, with 60% increase compared to September and their 132 merits shared is an excellent number, considering that they don't even have their own local board.

Merit senders and receivers per local board during October 2021

Pretty straightforward chart that follows (more or less) the amount of merit shared, which makes sense.

Merit/Post ratio per local board for October 2021

It's nice to see this chart yet again being dominated by blue colour, meaning number of merits shared are increasing and all those recently added  merit sources are doing their job properly. Out of all local boards, only Dutch had lower monthly merit/post ratio shared compared to 12 months period, which is a very good result, probably the best so far.

The most active members per local board during October 2021

For the end of this overview, list of the top 10 most active members in each local board (and several communities without one).

4059  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many bitcoins are needed to buy a house in your country? on: November 22, 2021, 07:52:48 AM
It mainly depends where would I buy the house; if we are talking about buying a house my hometown, approximately 1-1.5 BTC would be more than enough modern ~200 square meters house. Then again, its a small town in less developed part of my country (Croatia) and if anything people are moving out of there.

If we are talking about town where I currently live, you would need at least 4 BTC for anything even remotely decent. My goal is house with a sea view, and for that I would need something like 8-10 BTC now, or hopefully 1  BTC in a couple of years. Cheesy

I don't know about that cause a year ago my fellow legendary countryman applying for merit source but sad to say didn't accepted. And I don't know also about this if low ranks applying for Merit Source got accepted. Anyways that's not the problems here we can Post in global section and get merit.
As far as I know, the lowest rank that got his merit source application accepted was Full Member, so it's not like you have to be Legendary member with thousands of merits earned to get accepted. But it makes sense that merit sources are usually higher ranks (Sr Member and up)  as it mean you already shared quite a lot of merit and have some experience with it, and you had time to build forum reputation which is also important I think.

There is no rank criteria to become merit source and the merit sources information isn't publicaly available so we also can't say that newbies can't be a merit source but the criteria from theymos is very clear collect 10 worthy post which deserve merits and you should be a recognised member in the community.
Those two things contradict really, being a newbie and a recognized member of the community. So it's safe to assume that no newbie has no chance of becoming a merit source.
