http://cryptosteel.com

most secure wallet I know of
I've never heard of this wallet.. first time I am seeing this website.. I don't think an unkown wallet can be safe compared to millions of peoples trusted wallets, like Electrum, Blaockchain etc.

think of it as a paper wallet made of metal.

i like it myself. may get one but then again may as well just engrave it on a plate of stainless steel and bury it or something.

phil, those heatsinks on the gpus, are they "standard" so to speak? like if you install new gpus you reuse the heatsinks. i would imagine they are as replaceable mobile gpus would kinda need to be standardized.

btw im a bit surprised you havent taken it apart yet (or have you?)
4044  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero, Dash, or Zcash? Let's argue about it. on: January 01, 2017, 02:22:46 PM
I cant discus how storing datas on SSD can  cause malfunctions. I am sure such disks should not be put on sale at all. And this is a matter of producer of those disks. If they give warranty then they should also repay all loss made by their product malfunction.  This is wrong place to question this, since no one can give you right answer here.

ssds are a blockchains best friend. of course its more money per gb but oh well.

just back em up. my chains (plus other important stuff of course) are automatically backed up to spinners in raid 5 nightly.

this is old.

i check 1st few, last few and something easy to spot in the middle. like say 16 chars total.

as was mentioned some have large addys they can pick from to best match the original addy.

Game changer miner indeed, great to see PandaMiner delivered this.  I can see a lot more applications beyond mining.

kinda a pity you cant just swap cpus to a more powerful one, might make a nice little scientific cruncher or renderer etc

Any Pc can be compromised.

Yes of course, the meaning was that Linux PCs (for home usage) seem to be less targeted by infections, or is this not the case?

vapourminer, you should go see a doctor so that your cough doesn't get worse and ask them on how you could actually write sentences to express your point of view, you seem to have trouble with that too ...

lol i work for MDs. ENTs to be more precise.

point taken however Smiley i do tend to post in a hurry..
4049  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where to Invest BTC? on: December 30, 2016, 03:38:35 PM
invest wherever you feel like losing btc.

No way mate, its not that you are going to invest your bitcoins and risk it for something that you feel losing it. That's why we are investing our bitcoins so that we can grow it and to get some profit. But if you are thinking that way, better to think on the opposite side and think for other types of investments that you think you have more chance of getting profit and can manage it well like trading.

hey ive invested. made some lost some. made more than i lost. did some research, dived in.

BUT what i mean is if you dont expect it back, kiss it goodby (invest only what you can lose with a smile), when it pays, sometime a little, sometimes a lot, it is Good.

we are all invested in btc when you get down to it.
I think you have mentioned a wrong statement. Maybe what you are saying is Invest wherever you think you are gaining. But it is not that easy before you make a move in investing your money on something  you must study it first you must know the risk involve and how much will you be gaining from it. After that you may know what is the best for your plan.
I agree with you Cheesy. Doing research and studying first about the investment can help you a lot because those simple steps can help you to lessen the risk of getting loss from an investment. Investments are made for investors to grow their money but some of the are used to scam people and stole money from their innocent investors and that is what we need to avoid "getting scammed" so better to study first and do a lot of research about the investment so if you will invest then it will be more comfortable because you are not worrying anymore.

i agree with both of you. DO YOUR HOMEWORK 1st. do NOT trust anyone elses judgement.

i indeed make misunderstood statements.

invest away. i did Smiley

@phil

yeah I am going to ship the psu to generalt

and send a few barrel type dc to debitme

I will list an xfx hd7970 that works
2 seasonic 400 watt fanless psu's gold not plat.   they work but have 0 wires

a ton of wires
fans
older ram sticks
dvi kvm switch
the house just has far too many parts.

Need to rest as I am tired after going through a ton of stuff.

I am going to see star wars tonight and I  do not want to sleep in the movie theater.

seems like yesterday  (1977)  when I saw the first one on Long Island,NY   with four of my cousins

how much for the kvm?

EDIT: i like fans and older ram too, chance to fill some old but somewhat modern (vista machines) boxen to somewhat decent specs so i can donate them to worthy folk.. when you get the chance snag some specs pls.

oh, and i like wires too:)

i have a full basement, unfinished, to put My Stuff (as opposed to Wifes Stuff). it is a mere 65% full but is due for a cleanout. you should see the 1993 rig parts i have. they run too. but those are for The Museum of Fond Memories, not others.  packrat? why thats my middle name.

even a ZX-81 with 16 kilobyte RAM cart and a sparky printer, and a Vectrex with two controllers and various carts. ahh, the memories!

4057  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My new ZEC + XMR+ ETH thread builds info links thoughts and photos. on: December 26, 2016, 10:48:03 PM

Anyone see anything wrong with this approach or have any suggestions?

i have found that once ALL gpus are in, reinstall the graphics driver. the reinstall seems to help all the cards, ie the driver install needs to see all installed gpus during the actual install. even if the driver is working and already installed with less cards in the rig.

works for me anyway.

do you deinstall the "old" driver with DDU or something? or do you just install again on top?!

try installing over the existing driver 1st. that worked for me on many occasions. if not then safe mode, ddu, then reinstall. that fixed most of the rest.

4059  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Wolf's XMR GPU Miner on: December 26, 2016, 07:38:36 PM

am i the only one who just lets the cards manage their own fan? i dont set anything in the miner as far as fans are concerned.

I've tried that too! Let the AMD drivers take care of fan speed adjustments. However, after a while, one of my cards will always randomly start spinning at 100% speed.

derp.. so much for my theory.

been lucky so far or maybe cuz the rig is in the basement some DO hit 100% and i dont notice.

390s and 380s with 15.12 in the basement. 470 with 16.10.1 upstairs that i would notice but only had it a few weeks.
4060  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Wolf's XMR GPU Miner on: December 26, 2016, 06:12:02 PM
running into problem , maybe someone have clue whats happening

miner is rock stable with superb power consumption, but from time to time one of cards (random) spins fans up to 100% , i can reset that crazy spinning in afterburner , but then auto speeds are left broken @0% fan speed , and temps are rapidly growing.

using 5x sapphire nitro+ 8gb , win10 , wolf-xmr-miner-v0.4
p.s. i switched from win7 to win10 cause of Error -1 when calling clGetDeviceIDs for number of devices plague , win10 solved issue with unavailable cards.

any ideas ?

I have exactly the same problem, and I've tried about every combination of auto fan/manual fan.

Conclusion: The miner is not rock stable, it is very unstable!

PS: This problem occurs both with wolf-xmr-miner-v0.4 and with sgminer-gm 5.5.4 under Win10 x64 with RX 480 rigs

actualy the same thing happening in Claymore CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.6 too , in claymore miner resets fan to 0% speed itself , wich is even more dangerous.

so it seems there is no reliable cryptonight miners out there unfortunately

That is not my experience.  I am running 11 different rigs with Claymore's CN GPU miner v 9.6 and I monitor them with his Dual Miner Manager 2.1.  I have not experienced what you describe.  Are you specifying a target temp for the GPUs?

am i the only one who just lets the cards manage their own fan? i dont set anything in the miner as far as fans are concerned.
