Thank you mprep for sending me the thread in pm.

I believe I was showing an investment strategy I learned from experts in the stock market and penny stocks.

I was willing to elaborate on the points I was making in the post, as some of it did need to be elaborated,

in order to not offend some people, but once elaborated there shouldn't have been any offence on my part.

There is room for more than one investment strategy, but it seems this particular strategy I pointed out,

is being oppressed in the altcoin discussion forum.

I am not impressed by alot of the new coins, and miner pumped coins, I know that doesn't make me popular,
coins that begin too high priced, and for the most part investors/traders should stay away from those,
althouth I did mention that one or more of those might go up hugely long term, the vast majority will not is what I was saying.

I was discussing how to invest so as to increase the chances of your investment going up hugely.
But also how to decrease the amount that you invest at the same time.

I think people should find that very interesting.

But it does exclude the majority of miner pumped new coins, and in fact, I believe those are amongs the most speculative and most expensive to invest into to try and do this.

I believe investors and traders got offended since december 2013, and lost alot of money to the miner pumped new coins.

The investment strategy I discussed in that thread shows investors and traders how to avoid being sucked into that and losing alot of money.

The miner pumped new coins are also not good for crypto, because of offending the investors traders who are not miners.

The truth is, that those coins are only ok for miners only, but not for the traders and investors at this time, almost always.

For traders or investors, the strategy I discussed in that thread is much more sound and can make them lots of money.
Explaining investment strategies is all well and good, however, the content that you written in your deleted thread could be summed up in a short post on the Smartcoin main thread. For example:

Quote
It's not worth investing in pump and dump coins as most of them will disappear, nor into established coins, like Bitcoin, where the profit was already made. However, coins like <insert several coin names here> with an already high value have a tendency to rise in price and that is why I've chosen <insert invested coin name here>

See? 2 sentences. Much more fitting for a post thatn a thread in my opinion.

this is the location at trashcan where my post was put
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1028212.0

I understand there are people who are trying to oppress other people on these forums.
Maybe the accuser should have his accusation thrown into the trashcan.

Hi. I would like to have access to my post that was thrown into the trashcan, I did alot of writing in numerous answers to other posters in that thread, and several people commented and said my post was quite good.
I told the truth as I see it. There were several topics I mentioned in the op, but people who commented focused on my mention of smartcoin, so I discussed smartcoin in a couple of my replies to explain to them, and I am using smartcoin as an example of practically 'any coin'. I intended to elaborate more on the other topics mentioned in the op too.

I wrote a good post about how I am not excited about bitcoins, but the dramatic rise in price of bitcoin does excite me,

for unknown and unmerited reasons, my post was put in the trashcan by mprep (mod of the altcoin discussion forum.

How come I see multiple threads about this 'monero' coin, that are obviously Pointless promotion / Ad spam

and yet, I write a good post, and somehow my good post gets put in the trash can?

It's not an accusation, it's a notification of why your thread was deleted.

The thread itself consisted of nothing more than abstract phrases. That would be borderline acceptable if it wasn't structured and mainly used as an advertising. The thread was basically saying that Smartcoin is the new Bitcoin, because the price of both rose immensively. Which is an advertisement as it doesn't include any kind of constructive and noteworthy information except promotion and abstract opinion.

I will PM the contents of the thread to you, however, reposting it as a thread is still not allowed. You can adapt, remix and restructure your work to use elsewhere.

I checked and there are 3 threads on the first page, all of which provide some sort of purpose (technological analysis, price speculation and highlight noteworthy members of the monero community as well as organize rewards for them). However, if you find a thread that is ad spam, just use the "Report to moderator" button at the bottom right side of the OP.

No, it's based on time. It sends out Coins as TX Fees at set intervals with a random amount of drift time, it's like a range where there is a minimum amount of time (say 2 minutes) with a random amount of time (1 second to 4 minutes) for an average of 3 minutes. When you Stake during this week, you have a chance to hit some of these Blocks and in order to Stake when you want you could hold back some of Your Stake for the days you want, or let it Stake and manage the sizes of your Blocks to be a bit larger for higher weight in each Block. It is recommended to have Blocks of around 500 Coins each.

wow, very cool, thanks

oh, and please move this to a different forum if this is the wrong place.
My understanding is that the above is exactly what you had posted. If this is the case then you were essentially writing a "+1" post which is not allowed as these kinds of posts do not add anything to the conversation. Yes you did write about potentially moving the thread, however the thread being moved is a given if it is filed in the incorrect section (moderators do not need permission for this).

It would be acceptable to write "+1" or "wow, very cool, thanks" and then add something above that, for example you could say why you agree or add additional points to what was said....or you could ask a question for clarification.

But if people can't respond then how do you know they are part of the thread or understand what's being said?

This seems like too heavy moderation, other people have had their posts deleted in the thread as well and have complained, atleast 5-6 people. This sets the tone that you might be scared to post anything because you fear it will be deleted by mods.
People can respond as long as they are adding something to the conversation. If they are simply agreeing with the OP (or another post) then there is no reason for them to post

I disagree with this because it hinders freedom of speech.
This is a privately owned forum (by theymos of course) and although it's based on quite liberal views, there are still rules in place which have to be followed. I'll just leave this xkcd.com comic here and let it explain the rest:

Why does BTCJam forum name verification in Games and Rounds? Shouldn't it be in Services?
Might be due to the fact that they generate a lot of low value posts, just like giveaways in Games and rounds.

It is possible. I reported it one or two times but report was probably ignored or marked as bad. So want to know the reason. Thank you!

Also, when new faucets and faucet rotators are released, they spam in Beginners and Help. It doesn't look right IMHO. Any reason why no action is taken?
I, at least, handle such reports and move the threada but other moderators might think otherwise.

LOL discussion about CLAM services are not off topic in the CLAM thread  Roll Eyes
It is if the original post is gone, due to breaking other rules, namely ad spam. It's allowed to talk about services if they come up in a discussion, not if they were advertised.

Yep the first post sure did.... how about the rest of the posts you removed & Doogs post  Roll Eyes
For the last time: ad spam and off-topic. I can repeat it hundreds of times but you'll be deaf to each and every one.
The service has to be brought up to the community in order to decide if it makes the OP.  ALSO this service doesn't have it's own individual thread that I've seen anywhere in the alt section.
Then create a dedicated thread for it in Service discussion (Altcoins) and talk about it there. If you want to talk about it with the OP, PM him.

I believe that rule Blackbear made...
Check your auto-correct.
...is more for creating whole new topics (like a gambling service with 5 different threads and a ref link in each one... not some dude posting a brand new service and includes a ref link that is pointed out....)
It's for any kind of promotion postings in coin and other threads. This has been confirmed throughout the thread (as well as via PM to me) and even a solution regarding the listing of services was given:

<...>

And yes, you guys are right when listing the problems inherent with using this forum as the sole source of information about an altcoin, along with a thousand other coins. Which is the reason people spam in the first place, because there is no specific board for mining a particular coin, or for services for a coin, or whatever else. The only real answer is to setup coin specific forums, any serious coin will do this. The rest are pump and dumps, or scams that won't be around long enough, and we aren't going to cater to them. We won't setup coin specific boards here either. Spamming is a crutch people have used to get around these limitations, and it's getting out of hand.

Obviously you can remove self-moderated threads if you can do so by moving threads to Meta.
You mean moving where they belong?

It's cool though... that was a little shitty of me to make a self modded one anyways.
Yeah, I'm seeing a pattern in your behavior here.

My post was constructive for our community (Doogs for sure was that you removed) and there was no spam... it was a SINGLE POST.

A CLAM services belongs in the CLAM thread.    Roll Eyes
The CLAM community should decide what's constructive in their own forums, while the Bitcointalk will decided what's constructive in their own.

No I mean you.

Lets do a little test... Which is spam A, B or C?

A: Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi,

1 post is not spam
A, B, C are all spam  Cheesy. They, in fact break rule 1. This shows how poorly you know the rules as you don't even know the main rule for which posts get deleted Roll Eyes :

1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads. [1][e]

1. Tell you what, how about instead of bickering amongst each other, you PM administrator BadBear (who in fact handles a lot of tasks with little appreciation, props to him for the great work) for him to allow you to repost the posts. If he agrees and PMs me with the agreement, you can repost it and it won't be deleted.

2: Fully on the topic of CLAMS.  This is obvious.
Discussion if certain services are legit or not isn't on-topic expecially when the discussion relates to a post that has already been deleted.

4: There are no ref codes or clickable links (except the youtube link) in the post above  Roll Eyes
Your first post was deleted for ref spam.

24. If you think that post is a advertisement then LOL. More reason for you to get shit canned.
From the administrator BadBear's thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=718124.0), stickied in the Announcements (Altcoins) board:

Advertising spam is not allowed, this includes mining pools, gambling services, exchanges, shops, etc. Mining pool ops should make a thread within the Mining section of Alt Currencies. Most OP's already link to pools available so advertising your pool is unnecessary and leads to too much spam. Exchanges, shops, gambling sites, etc, should make a thread in the Marketplace section of Alt Currencies.

I don't make the policies, buddy, and what I think really differs from how I moderate. I follow the rules, you don't and feel that you are supposed to reign free because you don't like the regulations put in place in a privately owned forum.

Also, thanks for force editing my post to not be self modded so you could voice your opinion.  Roll Eyes
I didn't. I don't think anyone except for administrators have the ability to remove self-moderation. Just that all Meta threads are non-self-moderated so your thread got converted when I moved it to the appropriate location.

Officer Mprep...
I'm more of a janitor than anything else.

Bitcoin is about freedom...
And Bitcointalk.org is about anything theymos has chosen. So far he has given freedom to constructiveness and a ban hammer to spam and he does not like people breaking the rules and advertising services where they don't belong.

I'd rather have the NSA praying over my posts...
I bet they already are.

...than some scrub who is so over worked they can't tell the difference between spam and a conversation.

Moved to Meta. The fact that you can't post a thread in the appropriate board should signal about that you should read up on the rules before you complain.

There are rules. In fact, you broke one that was instated by BadBear, not me and which I managed to soften after a discussion with him so how about you complain to him.

I've deleted the futher discussion due to the fact that it was connected to the ref spam you posted and thus was off-topic if the original post was removed.

Also, here's the small list of rules you broke from my thread that was stickied by SaltySpitoon in the Meta section:

Quote
2. No off-topic posts.
4. No referral code (ref link) spam. [1]
24. Advertisements in posts aren't allowed unless the post is in a thread you started and is really substantial and useful.[9][e]

I'd suggest reading through them all to make sure you know what is allowed and what isn't: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0

I am voting yes, simply because any asshole who figures he can remove posts that aren't spam is a dickhead.
I'd suggest getting acquinted with thw rulea before you call out spam.

Copy of this thread has been sent to Theymos (even though he has better shit to do I'm sure, but this shit is important!)

A lot of people disagree with the mprep moderation, maybe theymos should remove his "right" here on bitcointalk.org and choose another moderator.
He evaluates every mod's performance monthly. So far I've received no complaints from him.

I seriously think and hope Theymos makes that call...

We have a fan boy who doesn't know what spam is running around with a ban hammer tormenting self modded communities... Fuck this guy frankly.

It isn't very Crypto of him regardless.
I can only ban newbies. I request BadBear for bans just like other board moderators, however, so far, most of the requested have been issued. "Tormenting seld modded communities"? You mean stopping you from spamming and thus preventing you from making a quick buck?

I vote yes.  This guy is an asshole and should not be moderating anything.
Such a compelling argument with so many valid reasons. Roll Eyes

I vote yes.  This guy is an asshole and should not be moderating anything.

He's the cop who shoots the unarmed black kid.

Shoot and threaten first... ask question later.

I hope my OP shows how we were having a conversation and this dude come in then kills it.

I could understand if modding is wearing on him... happens to me in Just-dice all the time, but at that point he needs to walk away from the computer or Theymos & friends needs to find him a replacement.

I miss Salty Sad!
Here's a better example: I get a report that there is someome shitting on theymos' carpet at his home. As his janitor, I go to the location, see that it's true, kick him out and then he complains that he was kicked out for decorating the carpet and that it is a free country.

Oh, and it is wearing on me: because of self-entitled people like you, who believe that they know the rules in and oiut when they can't even pick a correct board for posting a complaint.

If the whole thing is based on freedom of speech then the community deserves to at least know and be informed.  It's a positive thing CLAM is being picked up even if in negative ways.

Sorry if you don't feel that way, but it is as simple as that.

I think it's a positive sign that CLAM is valued highly enough that thieves want to steal it. We see the Serbian scammer on IRC trying to scam people out of their CLAMs and now this Ponzi scheme is trying to steal it too.

I think if I was you I would have mentioned it in that light: "good news for CLAM : even lowlife scammers want a piece of the action!" or something.

What I wouldn't have done is signed up and posted a fucking referral link to the scam!

Perhaps wise dooglus. Tongue

Without the context, it would've been off-tooic and confusing.

1K a week, serious?
Divide that by 8 and you are closer to what I get for spending around 2 hours daily, 7 days a week. Nevertheless, I'm thankful for anything I get as there are moderators in other forums whose only reward for their hard work is a big "fuck you".

Perhaps wise dooglus. Tongue

4059  Other / Meta / Re: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ on: April 16, 2015, 12:19:31 PM
I found something whilst reading some old topics which I do from time to time and discovered a title naming guide by theymos. Might be worth mentioning in the original post. Pretty helpful. Somethings I'm guilty of not doing some of the recommendations.

Moderators here typically don't require you to use good titles for topics, but I thought I'd post some guidelines for anyone wondering how best to write a title.

Include enough info in the title so that readers can mostly guess what your topic is about. Try to condense your topic's main idea into a few sentences. Ideally, people should be able to write useful, on-topic replies by just reading the title (though this sometimes isn't possible).

Terrible titles include:
- "A question"
- "I was wondering..."
- "Someone help me"
These titles are better, though still not great:
- "A question about Bitcoin-Qt"
- "Survey of the community"
- "I have a problem with the forum"
These titles are good:
- "Bitcoin-Qt takes too long to start. How can I speed it up?"
- "Poll: What is your gender?"
- "Whenever I try to send a PM, the forum gives me an error"

When asking a question, never use a title like "How to send BTC"; it makes the topic look like a guide on how to do something instead of a question about how to do it.

Some people like to put "tags" in the title within brackets. Like "[GLBSE] [ANNOUNCE] ASDF: Generic asset". I personally don't like this style. I prefer to include the tag info within the sentence, like "Announcing ASDF, a generic asset on GLBSE". When tags are really necessary, it may indicate that a new subforum should be created.

Use normal capitalization, not "newspaper capitalization". "Thread title style guide" instead of "Thread Title Style Guide". Capitalize the first letter of the title unless it a trademark like "eMachines".

Omit unimportant leading words. "Selling $100" instead of "I'm selling $100". Other than that, it's best to write a grammatically correct sentence if doing so does not make the title annoyingly long.

If the title is composed of only one sentence, don't include a period at the end. If it contains two or more sentences, put a period after each sentence, including the last. Questions must end with a question mark.
Added to the FAQ, thanks:
