4081  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: FTX or Binance? on: November 03, 2021, 02:52:57 PM
I actually only use their app Blockfolio for tracking but never use their investment function or trading function.
I won't trade on FTX if you compared them with Binance(Never heard FTX exchange before just now) so I will choose Binance for safety. I know Blockfolio is known safe but it doesn't mean that using their own trading platform will be also safe.
It's actually the other way around, as FTX exchange bought Blockfolio app back in may 2020 for $150M and then recently renamed  it to FTX. Another interesting info; Binance was among early FTX investors but their CEO Sam Bankman-Fried decided to buyback the shares and distance himself from Binance. Smart move imho.

FTX simply because I think it's the exchange that is safer from the authorities compared to Binance which is pretty much always in the legally grey area. Not to mention the significantly lower(or sometimes free) withdrawal fees on FTX.
Yep, pretty much this. I still mostly use Binance though, but with all the current restrictions I am starting to have some doubts about them so I think it's a good idea to have contingency plan, which in my case is FTX.

Really guys? FTX is quite famous even they are a young exchange and need to grow up more to catch up with Binance. Do you know Solana project and its blockchain?
I am also surprised that so many people here don't know about FTX. They remind me of Binance from those early days several years ago. On top of that, people keep forgetting that Binance is not that old as well.

I am in translations, marketing and PR from so long and guerilla marketing is great if done properly of course.
Yeah I know, guerrila marketing works. After all, that's why they use it in crypto as well, but I just wanted to point it that ppl shouldn't fool themselves that is totally unrecognizable, because it is. Then again, their target audience are newbies who are completely unaware of that marketing technique, and not experienced investors so that probably doesn't even matter.
4083  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto influencers be like on: November 02, 2021, 12:20:51 PM
I think I'm not confused about John of being offered with money for promotion. I also knew that Andreas has been offered with that amount. Maybe I was confused about the exact amount that was offered to John before.
If John was offered 10 BTC to promote HEX. I am sure that he would do it. I just don't understand what was the guy (probably Heart) who offered Andreas Antonopoulos that amount of money thinking, that he would sell his reputation for that amount? It was really shot in the foot.
4084  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another (same old) reason to avoid centralized exchanges on: November 02, 2021, 08:08:26 AM
Hey, I haven't insulted any trader still using Binance and haven't been fucked up by them yet, if that's how you might have interpreted it. All I am saying is that it's about time traders who are aware of the direction things are headed in binance start looking past it.
I am a long term Binance user, never had any big issues with them but still I think it is a good thing to look at the alternatives, and to be prepared. Not so long time ago Bittrex was top and well respected exchange and we can see how that ended up, and considering the way Binance is doing the business, sooner or later they might find themselves in a lot of trouble.

My alternative to Binance when it comes to centralized exchanges is FTX, and plan is to migrate to that one completely.
4085  Economy / Services / Re: P2P vs popular exchanges on: November 02, 2021, 07:27:31 AM
Are there other reasons? P2P is certainly not necessarily cheaper, so why do people use it?

Mainly because they want to avoid stuff like this that happened yesterday. You may say it's not a big deal, I can wait later to get my money out, but it may happen when you need the money asap, like it happened to one of my friends yesterday. He planned to pay for some service which was important for his business, but he couldn't do it for hours, delaying the work for a whole day.

So yeah, not a smart thing to use Coinbase/Binance or any other centralized exchange to store your crypto. At least not a big amount, and especially not for too long.
4086  Other / Meta / Re: LETTER OF APPEAL FOR PERMANENT BAN LIFT on: November 02, 2021, 06:15:14 AM
Just yesterday I saw that you were warned that you are doing an incorrect quotation.
https://loyce.club/archive/posts/5830/58306914.html
Yeah I warned him that what he is doing is not the right way. Looking now at his post history, seems like he did use quotations properly from time to time, so I guess he either became lazier, or simply wanted to appear more knowledgeable than he really is and squeeze more merit.

I'm very interested in this case as well, is the ban plagiarism or because of too much low quality posts (links from article).
Wouldn't he first get temporary ban, if its because of low quality posts? Since he got perma banned, I guess he forgot to include links for some of his topics

My problem with people copying article and posting on the forum frequently is that they become addicted to doing so just because one or two topics were merited and when this continues, they end up always delivery very low quality posts which isn't hygienic to the forum.
Pretty much this; they get merit couple of times, and then they start doing all kind of shady work, skipping using proper quotes because then it would be obvious they just copypasted majority of the text.

One of the examples of that is his topic Privacy while making use of Bitcoin for which he got ~40 merits. At first look it seems like he wrote that topic using his own words as there are no quotation marks whatsoever, while there are some reference link at the bottom.  If you check it bit more thoroughly, it is obvious that topic is a combination of his own words, paraphrasing and direct copy/paste, but it's mixed up all together in a way that it looks like his own words. So no wonder that he continued with that practice as he saw it works and brought him tons of merit for not too much work.

edit: @lovesmayfamilis thanks, sorted.
4087  Economy / Reputation / Re: Support for Tags (Negative Trust) - Cheaters Bounty on: November 01, 2021, 05:27:45 PM
I mean, previously the ETNA project was managed by @BountyDetective and then the Bounty Manager @Murat also managed the ETNA project. My guess is that Bounty
It's funny that those two are among most popular bounty managers. It makes you think how competent other bounty hunters are when those two  are creme de la creme of bounty world. It's no surprise that bar is set so low as that has been the the case for the whole altcoin scene, from the top and creators of shitcoin projects to lowest in the chain, bounty hunters.

Then again, it's maybe just a case of zero fucks given as they are not paid enough to work hard, or they know that if they eliminate bounty cheaters client might be unsatisfied with the numbers.
4088  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Mjesečna Analiza za Hrvatsku Lokalnu Zajednicu (Bitcointalk Croatian) on: November 01, 2021, 05:08:51 PM

4089  Economy / Reputation / Re: Support for Tags (Negative Trust) - Cheaters Bounty on: November 01, 2021, 04:02:54 PM
Managers, when choosing participants for their bounty programs, can still look at your evidence and decide on the participation of certain accounts.
Talking about managers, this is just another example of their negligence, at the expense of their client and all the bounty hunters who invested their time and made videos. Out of curiosity I took a look at the videos submitted by this bounty cheater, and it took me exactly 5 seconds to realize that all videos have been made by using voice generator, in various languages.

Few examples:
Name of the video in Russian, English voice generator. Nothing suspicious for our diligent bounty manager https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ci0rz3owIDk
Name of the video in Portuguese, voice generator of some Asian language https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvtsafPMykY

It baffles me that @Murat decided to gave tokens to such a lazy attempts, and just proves that it doesn't pay off to do bounty campaigns as you will be screwed by cheaters, managers, or project owners. And in some cases by all previously mentioned.
4090  Economy / Services / Re: The best advertising team - you have ever known. We can advertise you. on: November 01, 2021, 07:01:38 AM
We have a lot of experience and the needed know how, we have worked and actually work with few well-known projects and can provide the highest quality possible, our influencers are experienced in trading and crypto, they will engage in discussions and advertise your project everywhere organically, nobody will ever think they are paid.
I don't know whether you are fooling yourself (or trying to fool potential clients) but those shills are pretty obvious to everyone that has more crypto experience. I pop up occasionally in some of the Telegram groups that you mentioned and they are full of fake conversations in which various altcoins are promoted.

I mean, I have no doubt that you tactic can work on newbies (if done properly) the same way noobs listen to twitter influencers and random people telling them what to buy/check out, but it's far from unrecognizable compared to non-paid conversations.
4091  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investors desire on meme coins are insane on: October 31, 2021, 09:48:32 AM
First to ask you; did you take the profits, or you are still in those memecoins? I am asking because unrealized profits are not profits at all, and many fail at that part. I had the same issue couple of years ago, I simply didn't know when to exit shitcoin and take the profit, so I stopped with that practice.

I don't check the price chart, but so far only DOGE comes close to outperform BTC/ETH.
If we are looking at last ~12 months or so, DOGE oupterfomed both BTC and ETH, but I think that will last only until bear market. Once we hit that, I expect it go below, as in  last few months DOGE lost 50% value compared to BTC and that trend will probably continue.

4092  Local / Off-topic (Hrvatski) / Re: Kutak za kulturni trenutak on: October 31, 2021, 08:15:16 AM

4093  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto influencers be like on: October 31, 2021, 07:55:56 AM
I just remember the good old John (RIP) that has said he's been asked to shill some new projects and he's going to get paid more than 10 btc. I barely remember the price of bitcoin by that time, IIRC, it was on the range of $10k-$20k.
McAfee  was wiling to shill just about any shitcoin that offered him enough money. Iirc, he even had something like "altcoin of the day" series of tweets in which he shilled one altcoin each day. So if someone offered him 10 BTC (when price was in 10-20k range) I am pretty sure that he would accepted no matter what kind of scammy shitcoin it is.

By the way, are you sure that you didn't confuse McAfee and Antonopoulos? I am asking because because he is the one that was offered 10 BTC to promote that ponzi scheme HEX and to help them appear more legit, which he refused of course.

That's how they roll on twitter. Most influencers are paid for posting some stuff there. Imagine they got some big allocation on the supply, when those token got value, they can easily dump the price on the market. They also help in popularizing the tokens and that's their compensation.
Not just on Twitter, it's the same situation everywhere, but Twitter is probably the most popular (and efficient) way to promote. And basically everyone is doing it, both legit and scammy projects, that's just how it goes on the crypto market. The only difference is that legit project will give tokens that are locked, and released periodically (6-9 months) they  can't be dumped instantly, while shitcoins like in the OP example don't care much about that and will give their tokens under any circumstances.

In short, trust no one.
4094  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas' current use of BTC on: October 30, 2021, 04:01:53 PM
He was talking about living on Bitcoin and he said that he HODLs his BTC and basically spends only USD. He gets paid in all different fiat, and he spends this fiat for his daily life. When he can, he buys more BTC and HODL.
I don't see anything wrong with it, what is he supposed to do since he is paid in fiat? Take that fiat and buy BTC, and then do KYC on some of 3rd party service to be able to use their card and pay for groceries, utility bills and all other everyday expenses? He wouldn't accomplish anything beside loosing percentage of that money through various fees.

Second, if everyone HODL and nobody spends BTC, isn't this becoming just a pyramid scheme?
Using that logic, anything you buy as an investment is pyramid scheme, which is not true of course.
4095  Other / Off-topic / Re: Facebook Plan To Rebrand Name To Meta on: October 30, 2021, 03:11:50 PM
The Facebook app in my country is mostly used by people aged 35 years and over or housewives, while Instagram is dominated by young people 15-35.
It's pretty much the same thing everywhere when it comes to the average age of Facebook user.

I don't really understand whether they will launch a new platform specifically for Metaverse or the Facebook app itself will be developed.
There won't be any big changes in that regard; Facebook app will still be called Facebook, it's just that parent company is changing name. So from now on parent company of Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp will be called Meta (instead of Facebook) and that's about it. At least for now.
4096  Other / Off-topic / Re: Facebook Plan To Rebrand Name To Meta on: October 30, 2021, 02:42:00 PM
The umbrella company of Google is technically still Alphabet Inc. It's just that saying "Google" is far more easier and the fact that you don't need to explain to the normies "oh what's Alphabet? It's the parent company of Google", and the fact that their stock tickers are $GOOG(class A) and $GOOGL(class B).
Yeah I know, hence my comparison with Facebook as I expect people to stick to that name, instead of Meta. Unless they push it hard and invest shit load of money into marketing, something that Google didn't do (as far as I know).

Talking about changes, I heard that they already implemented some changes, as if you "Facebook" set as a workplace (for whatever reason) in profile bio, its changed to Meta. I tried to do the same, and it seems like its true; you can't set "Facebook" as a workplace anymore, you get message saying that name is not supported.
4097  Other / Off-topic / Re: Facebook Plan To Rebrand Name To Meta on: October 30, 2021, 09:05:45 AM

Pretty much. Everyone's speculating that it's to sort of clean their name's bad reputation or something; I think everyone's just overthinking it. It's simply just a re-brand due to their main umbrella company now having multiple(and increasing number) of brands.
+1

Pretty much the same thing (AFAIK) happened in 2015 when Google changed the name to Alphabet as they were expanding the business. That name didn't stick though (at least I never heard anyone calling parent company "Alphabet) and I guess it might be the same thing with Facebook.
4098  Other / Meta / Re: Application For Merit Source [Philippines Local Board] on: October 30, 2021, 07:31:01 AM
That's been my plan for the past year or two [refer to my "Merit source application folder in this screenshot"], but I always had and still have a hard time finding ten posts that would fall under the "theymos's" criteria [that's probably also the case with other Filipino users].
Dunno, maybe you are overthinking it, or setting standards way too high. If you have troubles finding good posts that don't have enough merit, you might wanna check your board's most merited posts and topics via @DdmrDdmr Merit dashboard, so maybe you can find some good posts that can be used for application. It's set at the last ~8 months, but you can adjust it as you see fit.

4100  Economy / Reputation / Re: [LIST] ANN threads that are using bumping services on: October 29, 2021, 07:08:16 AM

Hey Rikafip, I've found a few more threads to add to your list that use bumping services:

Since I have a rule that I am not adding threads retroactively (and I see that those two threads are not active anymore), I won't add them to the list. Reason is simple; there are so many threads that were being bumped in the past and if I add each and every I ever come across, list would probably be five times bigger than it is now.

These are just a couple of accounts, but they were registered at the same period, and they just woke up to bump and ANN. I think they are just getting started

ANN - IXFI (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5366808.0)

Yep, that's how it starts and we can expect more shitposts soon.
