4101  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Happy Thanks-giving if you live in tthe US. on: November 27, 2015, 01:20:11 AM
What you guys exactly doing dueing this occasion? Im not from US but this black Friday across too here in my country.

I'm in the US and I avoid black Friday like the plague.  Ever since the internet I have been finding deals on what i need (for the most part) that are better then black friday deals for the most part.  For example PSU's for a while I was into I watched for months and found great deals.

I so far have not found a deal I needed yet... that is a first normally there is a item or two.  But this year nothing I needed yet.  The kindle was only thing close... but I really don't need it with all my other tablets.
4102  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: bitcoin mining looking for partners for my idea on: November 27, 2015, 01:16:56 AM
Must have missed your reply, I agree though.  Thankfully it wouldn't be fruitful, because it's a pretty shitty thing to do.

Not a problem at all.  At one time when CPU mining was profitable I could see someone using a botnet.  But at this point I think everyone would notice a PC running slow from mining.

So between people noticing slow CPU and possibly removing botnet software due to it.  Amount that each CPU will bring in tiny amounts I dont think to many botnets will be doing it at this point.  I think they are being used for other purposes.  And your right it is a shitty thing to do, the good news is eventually a lot of the botnet creators/users get caught.
4103  Other / Meta / Re: Trust system and moderation action. on: November 26, 2015, 09:57:04 PM
Wish it would be put to a stop once and for all. theirs loads people neg rating just for stupid things and some people do like to have some sort of trust rating to show some sort of trust to prove their trust worthy. Even without people can trust but it is harder to go off o trust ratings trades or activity. Winds me up when I get neg rating and I have a few for doing gambling and promoting stuff but to be honest neg rating for that is kind stupid and they are doing exactly the same thing. Maybe an idea would be to remove the rating system and introduce a full new system with moderation and approval system needed to be sent to mods team and see if worthy might create work, but least this way systems do not get abused.
The site is looking like a joke. Sad We need to do something quick. Not only is trust abuse happening, somebody is reportedly giving out death threats but never got banned!

You have gotten multiple threads at this point off track.  If you have a credible death threat and not a troll again.. contact police.  As I suggested before you need to stop hijacking threads with this.   Open your own thread in meta to talk about it.  It has nothing to do with trust.

On trust it is all up to the person which is good and bad.  Good thing is if misunderstanding you can go to person and possibly work it out to remove it.  Bad thing some will put it there for no reason.  The ones who do it for no reason tend not to carry much weight.  You will see I have 1 that the person just called me a name ... but since it carried no weight it does not really matter.
4104  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d on: November 26, 2015, 09:51:03 PM
Firmware questions:

1) As shown in Notlist3d's screen shots, the current delivered A6 firmware rev is: 601510-afa837a0. This is also the rev in the unit I have.

2) As pointed out by Mr. Ma, there are at least 2 firmware rev's beyond this one: https://ehash.com/

Question for the distributors, are A6 owners out of warranty if we don't have the latest firmware rev on our machines?

You would need to contact BlockC or Ehash depending on where you got it.  But I cannot imagine not having latest firmware effecting warranty.

Reading through warranty it's actually much better then most.  They even are still valid if sold to someone else as long as it's in the timeframe for warranty.  Bitmain if you sell it the warranty is gone it does not transfer.
4105  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: bitcoin mining looking for partners for my idea on: November 26, 2015, 09:48:48 PM
If I had to wager a guess, I would say that OP is referring to using a botnet for CPU mining, which isn't a good idea by any stretch.

I mentioned this above it seems to be what he was hinting at.  But OP has not been here for a while so the thread really should be left dead.

I think it was mostly talk I dont think someone would have "100k" machines..... and not know about cpu mining.
4106  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud Mining - Please help a newbie on: November 26, 2015, 08:20:21 PM
You can use links in my signature for cloud mining. I have found Genesis Mining very reliable & transparent in their dealings. There ROI time is a bit long but i will better be safe than sorry. I have been using there service for 6-7 months now and fully satisfied.

I am also trying gigahash.com with small amounts & no problems until now. both have daily payouts. All the best

Regards

Sam Smiley

What I don't llike about genesis is the name "Lifetime Bitcoin plan" on buying contracts.  No miner cloud or hardware is lifetime there a a point they are just too inefficient to run.  So it's kinda a shady name in my eyes.

What are you saying ROI time is for them?  I would remind people ROI is not guaranteed.  Past ROI does not promise future ROI.  Just look at what difficulty is doing right now, its kinda crazy.
4107  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Doing a Paper on Cloud Mining... on: November 26, 2015, 08:17:03 PM
Hey guys,

I'm doing a paper on cloud mining and I'm in the research stage.  Could you give me some links to which ones are the best in the industry.  I've started research on Genesis Mining and I was wondering which other ones are among the top.

Thanks.

How indepth is this paper need to be?  Bit-x was suggested the good thing about it is you can point to Bitfury hardware so gives you some more info you can add to paper, depending if  you need filler.

If you really need even more info or filler on paper Hashnest you could do all the way down to specific miner.  So even more detail depending on what part you show.

But I think the how indepth and what you need to show is going to be key to what is a good or bad site to show.
4108  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ Discussion and Support Thread on: November 26, 2015, 08:12:56 PM
Has any one thought of combining a couple of s3's together sort of like the C1 but not changing over the heat sink. I mean Sort of like how the s5 is done. Would it be worth it? I mean have one controller controlling all 3 s3 instead of three separate units?

I think the problem will be getting the controllers.  I doubt bitmain has C1 controllers in stock anymore (I could be wrong, they may surprise me).

But if you do I think if I remember right will allow 4 blades so I think you could hook up two S3's.  But by the time you add this I think it's just not worth it. S3 are getting dated I would try to use separate and squeeze out more profit instead of buying the new controller, unless your doing it for sake of modding and not based on ROI.
4109  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Mining on Rapberry PI on: November 26, 2015, 08:08:21 PM

what freq are you running the sticks at ?

I had the same troubles whether i try to run at 150Mhz or 200 Mhz.

have you tried just unplugging the hub ?(power+usb) ?

Yes, but it didn't solve the problem...

It could be a crappy USB on amout of power.  Have you tried running 1 instead of three?

That's what I would do is reduce amount of them and test it.  See what happens.  All usb hubs are not equal.
4110  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: News of a mini RasPi for 5$ How could this change bitcoin mining? on: November 26, 2015, 08:05:33 PM
I've seen reports of the new Pi ZERO being sold by authorised resellers for EURO 12+ plus shipping ...
But yes, volume purchases normally result in lower pricing, but notwithstanding the Pi ZERO using the "older" processor, I am not sure how far below the listed price the price can go. Are they getting the processor for free? The footprint of the PCB would itself cost about $2 at a dirt cheap PCB fabricator (OK given that would not be for volumes)!

I looked into ordering one it appears what a lot are doing is bundling it with cheap items.  This allows them to sell the 5 dollar item for much greater profit.  They include cheap accessories... and double the price if not more it seems.

So could be a bit till truly can get just the pi zero for 5 bucks.  It's kinda scummy of so many to add accessories to get greater profit... but guess that is buisness.
4111  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: News of a mini RasPi for 5$ How could this change bitcoin mining? on: November 26, 2015, 05:38:15 PM
This version of RasPI has no ethernet connectivity; just an USB data port and GPIO.

Could you not use a USB ethernet adapter or wifi?  I missed the part if you truly can have no Ethernet that would be a big issue if so.

In terms of changing the controller-scape, Avalon can only be mentioned as a detail to Bitmaintech, for all the good things Avalon that may be. I can not see the appeal of a Pi ZERO over Bitmaintech's chosen BB derivative, not even price (and not to mention connectivity, or the lack of it - USB to ethernet considered).

How many Bitmain miners have you had?   Wait till one day you have trouble with one or brick it.... sadly it can happen. With RPI you can go to local store and buy one quick and if you have backup flash it and be up in no time.  But with custom bitmain controllers you have to wait for it to be shipped to you through RMA process, unless they are nice and let you buy it without sending back.

RPI has lots of advantages.
4112  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud Mining - Please help a newbie on: November 26, 2015, 05:27:16 PM
I have been reading this thread for about an hours now and I am wondering if it is worth the risk to try this cloud mining.  When you are mining, is there a way that the fees will rise after you pay for your month?  I am not understanding.

Fees should not rise ...  if legit there should be something showing on the site the cost.  Normally they take it out of BTC before you ever get it.  But fees do become a bigger portion of miner's earnings over time.  With difficulty raising at some point the miner will cost more to run then it's making.

Ass far as risk being worth it with cloud or normal hardware it's very individual decision.  Just make sure not to invest more then you can lose. Be a cautious investor.
4113  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: News of a mini RasPi for 5$ How could this change bitcoin mining? on: November 26, 2015, 05:21:12 PM
It does change the miner controller-scape only as far as the manufacturers are willing to embrace it. Bitmain walked away from the ar9331 modules (which would have cost them about the same) to the BB which, with their volumes, costs them about the same.

The Pi ZERO, though, is quite limited in terms of connectivity, aka ethernet and / or wifi, without further spending on enabling it, thus the $5 would end up being more like $15+ in medium volumes, even $30+ in small volumes. I can not see it below $10 with the connectivity added (to say the conrol board).

That said, the Pi ZERO will only change the controller-scape if an independent developer can fashion a drop in replacement controller board that it can host but most importantly, can run bitmain boards.

Some miners like Avalon have a chance as it's close to B/B+ number's.   They use RPI as controller, so I would disagree with just independent devloper can use RPI's.

I do agree bitmain will not work due to using custom controllers.  I still hope one day they switch over to RPI's.  But it seems unlikely at this point they will ever do that.
4114  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d on: November 26, 2015, 05:16:45 PM
Question : to anyone that gets just miner does it come with all the plugs needed to plug into my own PI or do i need to buy one of there USB converters when i buy this miner ? .i have three PI's one banana pi and cubieboard pi . why spend 75 $ for another kit, when i have all i need but the miner Smiley .

The spending would be if you need a Raspberry PI model B or B+.  It is a very nice plug and play if you don't have a RPI.  BlockC did a great job on the fresh image with dhcp making it easy to setup.

If you already have the Raspberry PI model B or B+ then you are set.  I uploaded the image so you can load it and have a very quick install.  With miner comes the usb adapter that connects to the Avalon6.  And if you are running more then one you can use the wire to go from one Avalon 6 to the next.  So it essentially can make a chain of them which is a nice option.

Will it work with the pi 2 ?

Out of curosity how many pages did you skip did you read the front page?

But it is Thanksgiving so I wont make you read the review... the most important part of thread.. but currently RPI 2 is not supported.  Model's B and B+ are supported.
4115  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Some help here please !! on: November 26, 2015, 05:13:56 PM
Hello everyone i glad to meet all of you im new on bitcoin world and i would like to buy some "machine" to create my bitcoins what i really need is some help about getting me any page who sell a good mining machine i would like to start buying from 1THB and up so please can u help me getting any website which i can order and why not to have any good price thank you !

I hope that you understand what are you getting into here. I also hope that you understand that if you don't have a free electricity or nearly free electricity you will just lose money as a lone miner and even if your electricity is nearly free, you might take a while to ROI!

Also you need to think about space to put your miners in, colling, etc!

I don't kno if it's fair to say if you don't have free electricity you will lose money.  I have bought and ROI'ed over many different machines in the past, and I have decent electricity nos steal.

But you really cannot make generalizations with one size fits all comments when it comes to miners. Also with winter coming up or her for some mining is easier for a lot of home miners.
4116  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Any real Antminer S7 competitor out there ? on: November 26, 2015, 05:10:44 PM
Avalon 6 would be your closest match.  Not as efficient but in the ballpark and that is still good enough.

Spondoolies Tech has the SP 50
http://www.spondoolies-tech.com/products/sp50

It outforms the antminer on every front. Check the specs. The Antminer S7 is a baby if you look to the power of this baby:
0.15W/GH/s

Effective Hash Rate 110 TH/s ± 10%

Have you actually tried to get your hands on them?  You can't just buy one according to my customers that have inquired.  I was referring to miners that the average can get their hands on.

I think they will be pretty secretive once it does launch.  I predict they look for big buyers over a certain number of dollars on sales to work with. Maybe later on down the road they work with buying a few.  But I think they will go for data center customers wanting a lot first.

The hard part is I have a feeling a lot of it including price will be under a NDA.  So it's likely we will not know much about the SP-50 unless someone leaks it.  And either way I think they just have a case as of now.... so we really have no idea how long till it hits the market.
4117  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining good idea? on: November 26, 2015, 05:07:20 PM
Good evening ! anyone there ever mined in Scrypt cc ? I only have trouble getting .... Huh
There are many complaints about Scrypt cc not paying recently. I would not invest with them until the issue is resolved.

I still think their calculator looks to good to be true.  ROI in less than 2 months... seems impossible in current market.

What is real ROI time?  Has anyone tried mining with them, I'm curious if it's even close to 2 months?
4118  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer U4??? on: November 26, 2015, 05:05:56 PM
I don't see why anyone would be interested in the Antminer U4 at the price BITMAIN is selling them.

Its almost impossible to make an ROI on those devices.

I think you mean U3.  U4 still does not exist it seems, or at least to my knowledge no press release of it.

But the reason is for lotto mining.  I have some U3's and compacs.  I  run them knowing chances are I will not get my money back.  But it is fun to do and does not cost a ton.
4119  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Nov 23 to Dec 7 Set up stage- Picks Not Open Yet on: November 26, 2015, 05:04:00 PM
Price is still heading up which is good.  Currently around $341.61 on coinbase.   So price is moving with difficulty some it seems.

As long as price rises with nasty changes guess we will not be hurting as bad.  Will be interesting to see what price does in relation to difficulty change over coming weeks.

Big price move 357 on coinbase!  Oh happy T-day to those that celebrate it.

Looks like we lost a little ground currently: 344.69.  Hopefully we can get over 350 again today.  If we do that I would consider it a win.

Bitwisdom still has scary high numbers.  I hope it's wrong by a decent amount.

the numbers are too high but if people keep adding gear they will become true.

yesterday we made about 154 blocks  today we made 141 with an hour to go.  so in two days  we will be at 302 vs 288 or  only 6%.

It is a USA holiday tomorrow my we only do 140 blocks.

I am thinking after 3 days say 10pm New York East coast time on Thurs we are about 4 or 5% (I hope)
