4101  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambled against Biden - funniest instance on: November 08, 2020, 05:33:30 PM
In fact I didn't bet anything on these two candidate, but it's true that these two candidate got the big gambler pretty excited. I think there are quite a few gambler who have to accept defeat because they believe Trump will win the election again, but actually Biden came out the winner and silenced Trump fans.

I'm not sure if the Hungarian president meant gamble like betting money against Biden. I think what he meant is that he was hoping that Trump will win.
After all, I'm pretty sure this is one of the reason that made him bet there was Trump.
4102  Economy / Economics / Re: Biggest threats to the price of Bitcoin. on: November 08, 2020, 04:49:36 PM
The threat in its market value I think is total prohibition of its usage for some reason if there is any. This is more likely something that will ruin its price.
And I never thought this kind of ban would apply to bitcoin. Some countries may be able to prohibit its circulation and also prohibit market activities in that country for various reason. But absolutely don't think a mass ban will happen to bitcoin in the future. Still very unlikely, mate.

In my opinion, the biggest threat to the price of bitcoin is the whale, because their activity in the market often bring disaster to the price of bitcoin even though it is only temporary until the price finally recover. Then I thought, if the bitcoin we are currently using is still in the testing phase then I think it's possible to have a new, bigger idea with better improvement. This can affect the price of bitcoin, but it's not a threat as long as the idea isn't born.
4103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you use bitcoin? on: November 08, 2020, 04:24:30 PM
Bitcoin cant be used as a currency to pay for anything legally in my country, because until now the use of bitcoin as a mean of payment is still illegal by law. But fortunately we are still able to use bitcoin and other crypto to legally trade on various exchange that have received permission from the government. Adoption of bitcoin as a currency is still very difficult to achieve due to these regulation, so we can only use it as a tradable asset. Secretly, we can still use it as a mean of payment between user but this is still a prohibited action.
4104  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: November 07, 2020, 05:47:42 PM
Atlast we got to see a good game from Barcelona. They could even score more than 5 goals if Griemann didn't miss those simple chances. Atlast messi scored from a open goal rather than penalty in this season. If this form continues of Barcelona than they could easily win the league. And as a Real Madrid supporter I don't want that. Tongue
Hoping Real Madrid will win the tomorrow's match.
LOL, do not be afraid because Barcelona are now very inconsistent in the league. I won't say much about their win today because that's how it should be. But I'm still amazed by Messi who is still passionate and make a difference to the team. Without him, perhap Barcelona would have been very easy to beat because there was no goalscorer like him in the team so fewer goal were scored at the end of the season. But whatever Barcelona's current condition is, in fact Real Madrid fans are still too afraid to see them return to consistency.  Cheesy
4105  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: November 07, 2020, 05:32:32 PM
Chelsea vs Sheffield United
This is another kind of doggy match for the blues as Havertz and and Pulisic are still out due to health issues, this gives room to a kovasic and Ziyech start it wont be an easy test for the blues as they need to take advantage of Everton lost to Manchester United and top up to a top 4 position.

I tip Chelsea win
I don't want to say that Chelsea will 100% win this match but 80% chance of winning rest with Chelsea just because Sheffield United are the last place holder of the standing at the moment. The 1 point they have accumulated in 7 matche is a very poor result and not at all competitive. But in football we never know how the game will go, sometime we also have unexpected surprise. But not for this match.
4106  Other / Meta / Re: Red Trust Account on: November 07, 2020, 05:21:56 PM
I personally feel that we should use this weapon very carefully and give red trust after giving at least 1 warning to a member.
I don't think we should have any more warning before the red tag is given. The reason is because If I'm not mistaken then we already have the previous 33 warning point as a forum rule. If a user break this rule then it is possible that DT member can mark their account with a red tag as the reason for breaking the rule. The 33 point that I mentioned must always be remembered and read so as not to make mistake in making decision that will later become habit. As in one example, someone complained and continued to complain about the unfairness of staff and the merit source in distributing merit to user. If the person keep complaining and complaining, eventually there will be hate speech thrown at the staff and the merit source so that the person will be marked as a troll.

In addition, there are many thing that get a person get red tag and clearly all wrong that have been breached, especially there are warning for that.
4107  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: November 07, 2020, 02:58:23 PM
As usual, it is never acceptable when our favorite team lose to their opponent and this is a natural thing. But I never believed Everton would be one of the potential candidate for the EPL title this season from the start. Even though they look quite strong and managed to come up with a few surprise, I agree that they will not be in the top 4 this season.

All Manchester United fans should applaud Bruno this evening as his contribution led them to victory. Two goal and one assist is a pretty good achievement and finally I congratulate all of you who bet to Manchester United with the victory.

ManU is not a predictable team for me... I was confident in the victory of Everton! Grin
Of course, I think the main reason is their consistency.
4108  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: One year on the forum -encouragement- on: November 07, 2020, 08:36:12 AM
First, happy first birthday to you on the bitcointalk forum. You look really excited and this is great for you.

I will probably no longer tell you that there were so many other user who failed to grow like you in a year, but you did well. There have been some big achievement in the last year for your account and it started with a rise in rank and also a good reputation. You are another proof that every user always has the potential to get better if they want to. Effort and consistency are two thing that can really have a positive impact on your accomplishment and they are very important. To be honest, taking a little time to study will open up opportunities for us to do our best for the forum and the community. It's just that sometime they're quite comfortable with worthless habit.
4109  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie But Not Beginner on: November 06, 2020, 06:15:15 PM
I am not going to say what the OP said was 100% true and I would not say that it was 100% wrong either. I will only think of it as a perspective that is known from experience, observation and so on. You are really not a newbie, because you have the ability to talk more than just that.

I am aware that all bitcointalk user are those who are governed by the system, and the rule that apply. The goal is to achieve the final target better as expected. No system is perfect and that is normal for all system because not everyone has the same perspective. The prevailing system doesn't work for us but we have to work under the system and this is called loyalty. When you and I can work well under a system, then we will be useful user with a lot of knowledge.

But one thing you have to realize here is that everyone involved in forums is human, and nobody is perfect and we all have our own egos. If you find something wrong with the system as well as the user running the system then use a reputation board for a much better answer and provide some concrete evidence that it is the wrong thing.
4110  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN] Bitsburg Signature Campaign | Sr. Member+ up to 0.006 BTC/week. on: November 06, 2020, 04:41:32 PM
I have seen some applicant ignore the rule set in the OP regarding the amount of merit they have earned in the last 120 days.

⬤ You must have earned 10 merits in the last 120 days to join this campaign.

As far as I know, if the applicant ignores the campaign rules it will not increase the chances of being accepted into the campaign. Even though the manager can still consider your application, but understanding and obeying the rule that apply is much better in my opinion. A little bit of advice might be helpful, just come back to apply if you actually qualify for the campaign as it's the best way to get hired. Don't rush into applying, as there will always be better opportunities for those who qualify.

4111  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you received a call/text recently from a friend/fam asking about Bitcoin? on: November 06, 2020, 04:25:39 PM
Of course, I have been asked several time about bitcoin by colleagues. But none of them were interested in learning bitcoin be it how it works, why bitcoin is valuable because they just wanted to know how to make money from bitcoin. From this I can conclude that the bitcoin they know is an asset that can give them an advantage regardless of how they get it including trading, working in bounty campaign and so on. Therefore, I am not interested in teaching them too many detail because I would not dare recommend any mean if they really didn't know how bitcoin and crypto work. Trading is very risky for them, also bounty campaign will be a waste of time though not all.
4112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think is the biggest disadvantage of bitcoin? on: November 05, 2020, 09:58:00 PM
-High transaction fees
-Long Confirmation time, the time is not fast enough for a direct transaction like for example if your buying in a physical store.
-Volatility, market price could go pump or dump in just a small amount of time giving a big risk to every investor.
-Adaptation? not yet adopt in most of the countries so pretty much you cant use it directly or needs to convert it first.
-decentralized, not really a disadvantage but this is the reason why bitcoin can only be an alternative to fiat money because in a certain country they can only trust a currency that they can regulate.

Still, bitcoin is under the adaptation process so we don't know what's gonna happened in the future, it might adopt or something could happen affecting it.
Behind all the advantage there must be drawback. Everyone know that bitcoin is not completely without its drawback. Bitcoin still need development and will continue to grow over time.

A little explanation from me for your point.
  • High transaction fees are only felt when bitcoin price and transaction increase, a problem that has been raised dozen of time by user. The scalability problem must be resolved and LN may be the solution.
  • Volatility, this shouldn't be a problem if bitcoin is a tradable asset. Without volatility, trader will lose potential profit.
  • Adobsi, there has been a lot of increasing adoption of bitcoin as a mean of payment but it still need improvement. You can find more product from store that accept bitcoin as a mean of payment here.
  • Regulation, this must be a drawback from bitcoin that must be taken into account. Not all countries accept bitcoin as a legal mean of payment because the government legally prohibit it. Adobsize will affect many of these thing and regulation will hinder the growth rate of bitcoin adoption in a country.
4113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I guess bounty hunters really kill projects on: November 01, 2020, 07:35:59 PM
Few of the bounty hunter cared about the project they were promoting. After distribution we will see the market will burn because most of them throw away their token just because they want to enjoy the result of their work. On the other hand, trader take advantage of the situation as soon as distribution is made just to get more token from the seller. Trader charge a lower purchase price, and bounty hunter sell because they want to enjoy the result. So it's not entirely bounty hunter to blame, because trader also have sneaky trick in seeking profit. So if you believe the price will recover soon, then hold on and sell once you see that the pay is up to your job on the bounty.
4114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which is more important bitcoin or fiat? on: November 01, 2020, 07:22:28 PM
Meanwhile, I still need both because of regulation. I cant use bitcoin as an official payment system because it is legally prohibited by the government. I can only trade bitcoin as a commodity asset in the market. Fiat is needed to measure my profits and spend it as the official currency.
Bitcoin still need more adoption in various countries as a payment system. To replace fiat globally, I think Bitcoin is still not able to because of many factor. Regulation, knowledge are two thing that continue to influence bitcoin as a legal payment system.

Due to regulation, I have to accept the fact that fiat will still be used as a payment system in many countries for a long time, especially in my country. I don't see any pressing issue at this point that fiat should be replaced by cryptocurrency as soon as possible. I believe people think differently than me and I have to understand that.
4115  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: November 01, 2020, 07:02:50 PM
Yeah, Arsenal tonight is ahead of Man U and it's possible to have sad end. Arsenal is still have more pass accuracy, possession. I have placed bet for Man U to win and both team to score but it seems like none of them will come true.
In the end, Manchester United had to lose through Aubameyang penalty kick. Very painful because MU was unable to perform better in the last 20 minute. Manchester United's inconsistency has raised doubt on many side, to be honest I firmly believe they won this game. But I lost and had to give up on the luck factor.

Meanwhile, we still have a match left today between Tottenham vs Brighton. I wish me luck here with Tottenham.
4116  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to get merits? on: November 01, 2020, 06:47:49 PM
I have been searching here for how to get merits but the most common answer I found was by posting useful information.
In general, merit are given to post that are of good quality, constructive and also useful. This is the point.

But I wondered how people give merits.
Each user has their own way of distributing their merit and that is very subjective. You and I have different point of view when it come to assessing the quality of a post. Sooner or later you will find out how the merit system work.

So I have a question in my mind that how posting useful info get merits and how people give merits? Can merits be shared with each other?
My advice for you.
1. Explore the potential that you have today and do well without having to push.
2. Post naturally and regularly.
3. Take a little time to study something that matche your interest on the forum.
4. Do it consistently without begging.
5. Try to engage in interesting and useful discussion, this will force you to gain more knowledge when you want to post.
6. Don't burden yourself just for merit.

There are many previously suggested ways to earn merit, and you deserve to try them. If other people can do it well, so can you. Don't imitate but learn.
4117  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How far will you go when you sent btc to a site with high fee but... on: November 01, 2020, 06:11:31 PM
In fact I have never had a problem like the OP asked me when I wanted to gamble. I often make transaction at the suggested fees and it doesn't make me have to wait for confirmation any longer. But for some reason, lately I've been using altcoin instead of bitcoin to prevent high fee. If I did, I would probably wait until my bitcoin were credited to the account. Just wanted to look a little relaxed without rushing to make a bet.

Rest use wallets like samourai since you will have more options. You have fee options there like :
Urgent
Normal
Low
Yes, the cost options are helpful enough to get fast confirmation. I rarely use high fees and I usually prefer normal or slow fees as long as it's not in an urgent situation.

4118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: November 01, 2020, 05:32:33 PM
Manchester United - Arsenal

this is a good game, I bet that Manchester United will win, I hope I don't lose money, before I wanted to make a Multibet added tottenham, but due to the inconsistency of manchester united and tottenham Is another team that sometimes behaves with manchester united so i preferred to make simple bet

edit: The arsenal almost scored Shocked
The first half ended goalless, but Arsenal almost took me by surprise. If you choose Manchester United tonight then you are not alone, I think Manchester United are the more favored although it is difficult to say they are consistent.

Don't know how things would play on second half.
Of course, we don't have a good crystal ball to predict all the game with the right result. There is hope that MU will come out as a winner.
4119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Escrowed very important for bounty? on: November 01, 2020, 05:11:52 PM
I think this suggestion is all too often cited as an attempt to secure campaign fund for bounty hunter. But in fact there are still quite a lot of manager who haven't implemented it because in my opinion they don't have enough fund to guarantee payment via escrow.

1. Reputable bounty managers
2. High quality bounty projects
1. The manager does not guarantee that the bounty will be successful and that the payment will be made according to the procedure. There are several manager who want to be responsible for paying bounty participant and the rest only manage bounty and receive payment. A quality manager is highly recommended as it will be easy to identify good potential project.
2. It is the responsibility of all bounty participant, taking some time to analyze project detail is the recommended way when joining the bounty. Joining blindly would be a waste of time without getting paid accordingly.
4120  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Facebook has banned Bitcoin hashtag on: November 01, 2020, 02:53:28 PM
As usual, Facebook has again started anti Bitcoin activity at this time of the year once again. I was trying to do some searches on Facebook using the #bitcoin and I was welcomed with this page.
But not for me. 226 Post found when I searched using #Bitcoin. What's wrong with you?

Very much disappointed with Facebook once again.
Try to relax a little, because you can still find relevant post if you use other #. In my opinion this is not anti-bitcoin activity by Facebook and it is possible that you have been banned from posting because it is irrelevant to you.
