There is customs duty to add as well surely. VAT is to do with Bitmain.  Below a certain price, no VAT or Duty is payable.

I buy lots of stuff from China and never pay any duty or VAT because I keep the cost and weight below certain amounts and perhaps because the vendors lie about the price I paid. Of course this is not possible with a minimum order quantity of 20.  Perhaps Bitmain should team up with some of the vendors in Shenzhen that one can find on aliexpress.com

... You can't complain that Bitmain isn't illegally underdeclaring the value of goods, that's not a valid expectation. Pay your taxes.

I'm complaining that a DIY device is not being marketed and that the order quantity is ridiculous.  There would be no power supply included and it would be up to the recipient to bolt on a heatsink and cooling.  I've got plenty of heatsinks and cooling fans from defunct processors.  With the cost of VAT and duty and the mark up of middle men, these are being marketed to the naive.  How is that for ethical company behaviour ?

Additionally I pay all the taxes that I'm asked to pay so I resent your allegation that I'm not.

1) This is NOT a DIY device
2) Don't buy it if you don't want to
3) I resent that you're resenting that I resented that you were asking Bitmain to underdeclare the value of imported goods in order to avoid you having to pay taxes.
4122  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S3 Setup [HD] on: October 28, 2014, 04:50:55 PM
Thanks Dogie

one more question: does the latest firmware have a option to disable the beeper completely? or is setting to false and use padded tape on the speaker the only method still?

It does but I don't think it entirely works. I put a screw into mine from the case to shut it up. If you don't want to hear it at all you can screw further and physically remove its ability to vibrate.
4123  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: RigWarz.com Mining Hardware Comparison on: October 28, 2014, 05:57:14 AM
You're ranking preorders and in hand hardware on the same scale, doesn't make much sense.
4124  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: October 28, 2014, 04:55:24 AM
Bitmain has released a second firmware update for the S4:

  Antminer S4 - Firmware

initramfs.bin.SD-20141016.tar.gz          fix a bug of share committing.
                                            modify miner status web page.
                                        MD5: BF5AB5F21AED999146800AB206A0CDA0

Flashed fine for me. Note it resets settings again. Seems to be a small hash rate boost.

Will a Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold 1000w work for 2?

It's what I currently have to use but its 2 x 6 pin pci-e per cable, they aren't individual cables so I am bit worried abut the cable temp, will it still be safe if I leave them at stock settings when doing it this way? (it would be 8 plugs to 2 units on 4 cables)

http://www.coolermaster.com/powersupply/silent-pro-gold/silent-pro-gold-1000w/

Should be fine

check the exif header - my phone records lat & lon on all pics...

LOL

I wasn't talking to you, I was criticising google image search.

LOL

I searched for similar images and this came up. Not today google.

4129  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN‘s Liquid Cooled Miner C1: It is not only cool, but it is cool on: October 27, 2014, 12:35:44 PM
I can't get any information about the dimensions of C1 miner. Does it have the same chassis as the S3 miner? If not, what are the exact external dimensions of this miner? For the S3 miner the Bitmain's web page says "Size:  331 mm x 137 mm x 160 mm", but there is no Size information for the C1 miner?

Very similar. I'll let you know in a few days.
4130  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer U3: Decentralization continued. Order now, Ship on Nov. 5th on: October 27, 2014, 12:32:26 PM

Also MOQ is down to 20 for those wanting to purchase directly now. Its still quite a few but better than 60. You could probably share 10 and 10 with a friend.

I give up.
Shipping to my location in EU still 543.85 USD
27,19 USD per piece + 20% VAT = 32,63 USD per piece for shipping.

Item cost 1120 USD +20% VAT = 1344 USD : 20= 67,2 USD per piece

Thats because Estonia is expensive to ship to, you can take that up with UPS. Shipping to UK is $230.

PS, VAT is nothing to do with shipping prices or Bitmain, its your government charging that.
4131  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Tube Setup [HD] on: October 27, 2014, 11:47:47 AM
Dogie, Do you have any info on the USB adapters that could be used with the Tube ?

I will not buy a Prisma, but I would like to use the USB adapter + Cubieboard with my two tubes.

Potentially in my Prisma guide if it comes with a USB adapter.
4132  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Technobit 2HEX4M Setup [HD] on: October 27, 2014, 11:39:01 AM
As always: Very nice guide.
Do you have more infos about the hashrate in "power saving mode" technobit is talking about on their site (" 0.58 W/GHs ")?
Thanks

I'm trying to test it now, but its hard without knowing the appropriate voltages for each hash rate. I have no doubt though that lower clock rates will have significant power savings though, as the Minion is pretty decent in that respect.

Thanks!
Any news about that?

Its too subjective to give actual numbers to be honest, but there are significant power savings to be had at the cost of hash rate.
4133  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN‘s Liquid Cooled Miner C1: It is not only cool, but it is cool on: October 27, 2014, 08:07:00 AM
C1 is shipping in the order it was placed and the cooling kits are shipping, too!!!

If for some reasons, if your units are not shipping, please contact info@bitmiantech.com or PM BITMAIN or PM us

Any news if C1 is actually shipping as stated or going to be delayed?
Anyone received the cooling kit yet ?

Sounds Good!  Have the C1's started shipping?

Yep, from last Friday. Bitmain is working its way through the order queue now.
4134  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive RockMiner New R-Box Setup [HD] on: October 27, 2014, 07:55:54 AM
Well, i have one of these "New R-box" all im getting is 80-90GH/s off BFGMiner with a 45-50% error rate, that's expected since the software is not up to standards with the hardware, but following the configuration :

Quote

Download the latest version of Custom Rockminer CGMiner.
Extract, and run the zadig application.
"Select CP21202 USB to UART Bridge Controller" and then click "Replace Driver". You only have to do this once per computer.
Right click the file "start.bat" and click "Edit". Enter your pool information as below
Run the bat file to start mining.

Ran Zadig as admin, successfully added the new drivers, (thanks to once owning 10 USB Block Eruptors, the drivers were already there).

But it fails:
Quote
[2014-10-27 17:43:18] USB init, open device failed, err -12,
[2014-10-27 17:43:18] You need to install a WinUSB driver for - AMU device 6:2
[2014-10-27 17:43:18] And associate - AMU device 6:2 with WinUSB using zadig
[2014-10-27 17:43:18] See README.txt file included for help
[2014-10-27 17:43:18] Icarus detect (6:2) failed to initialise (incorrect device?)

should I just wait a few weeks for BFGminer to work out the bugs? or is there something Im missing?

none the less, Dogie, Great look at the miner, and all the others too (I Had to look though them all, its the eye candy)

You know what? i attempted to do the one thing that everyone says is what makes people insane: attempt to do the exact same thing, for a different result.. its working flawlessly now on CGminer 4.7.0 getting ~107GH/s

You did one thing different, cgminer. People seem to have a better experience on it for BE200 based devices.
4135  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer U3: Decentralization continued. Order now, Ship on Nov. 5th on: October 27, 2014, 07:54:08 AM
The "retailers" will jack the price up wiping out any ROI potential that ever existed unfortunately.  Sad

I don't believe these are designed for ROI.. I believe these are designed to just be slick miners for people who wish to just mine and not spend a lot.  The prices won't be that expensive IMO.   Eyeboot.com for example has very reasonable prices.

Also MOQ is down to 20 for those wanting to purchase directly now. Its still quite a few but better than 60. You could probably share 10 and 10 with a friend.
4136  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer U3: Decentralization continued. Order now, Ship on Nov. 5th on: October 26, 2014, 10:36:29 PM
1) no its not, it's an external brick like the BFL jalapeño had.
2) it probably is. Likely about 15% the weight of the final package

1) That's what I said :/
2) Its probably not even 15% due to the heftiness of the U3 and the packaging. But even at 15%, its not going to make a huge difference to the shipping.

As I've said above, we evaluated adding a second SKU and determined it wasn't worthwhile. Now if several people were to come together and show that they'd order a few 100 of that SKU, then Bitmain can reconsider it. But again, its not going to have the cost benefits you're expecting.
4137  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 6.6TH miners for immediate shipping on: October 26, 2014, 07:25:37 PM
Can we "print" our own label and send it to you.  I really would not want to spend BTC on shipping.  Just name your carrier and give package details.

For me, this would make your equipment much more attractive pricewise.

Yeah I guess so, then I just call them to book a collection? I'm not sure how its going to work out any different in cost though.
4138  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer U3: Decentralization continued. Order now, Ship on Nov. 5th on: October 26, 2014, 10:03:38 AM
The point and what you said are valid, i've seen too many power supplies come from China which can only be called an electrical death trap and/or an EMC compliance nightmare.

Seriously, anyone can get power supplies that can kick out 6A, we don't need power supplies that will either throw out too much RFI or burn someones house to the ground, after all, anyone reselling these in Europe (and I assume other countries, but I wouldn't know) will be liable for it.

These are the same PSUs you buy in the US and EU from Amazon - it all comes from China. We looked at making a no PSU SKU and the price wouldn't make a lot of sense so everyone would buy the with PSU SKU.

1. Pieh0 is right, there is a big internal difference between a well designed quality psu and a cheap firestarter...
You are welcome to post a full CE check report and PICs from the internal design

2. It make no sense to pay high air freight cost for a PSU

So please offer them without PSU and let customer decide (if anybody want to buy them ;-))

We're talking about AC/DC PSUs, not ATX PSUs.

The non AC/DC package fundamentally didn't make any sense.

1) The U3 packaging includes the PSU internally and so its not as simple as not including the PSU in the first place. The PSUs would have to be actively removed.
2) The PSU's weight isn't significant at all compared to the miner.
3) The price difference was too small to make it worth creating another SKU.

Use to shipping Royal Mail services. Aren’t postal charges exempt from VAT? Postal services provided by the Post Office are exempt from VAT,...

Yes they are, but there are two sides to VAT. On one side you collect 20% of all sales revenue in the region for the government, and on the other side you can reclaim VAT paid on some expenses. Royal Mail's services not including VAT makes them more expensive.

Say I collect £12 for a customer for postage, and Royal Mail costs £12. I have to pay £2 to the government, and can reclaim £0.

But anyway, I don't use Royal Mail due to cost / VAT / speed for the UK stuff, and they don't do larger shipments to the EU. I also don't charge postage for people in the UK, except on the cheaper stuff.
