4122  Other / Meta / Re: Bug in the activity system? on: April 13, 2020, 01:24:21 PM
I think I finally understood. The key is here:

Quote
If your post count eclipses your activity by 14 or more [...]

Which means (I suppose), that while the posts number is not greater by 14 or more compared with the activity (meaning while posts number is still equal with the activity, or greater by 10 or by 13 and so on), the activity number increases "live" (where live means an amount of ~1h).

Is this correct?

Even if your post count is only 1 more than your activity, you must wait until the next two-week period starts and make a post to increase your activity.

Let's say your post count is now 253 and your activity is 252. Your activity cannot increase unless a new two-week period starts and you make a new post in the new period.
You make your 254th post in the next period. your activity will become 254. Every new post will increase your activity. But it cannot exceed 268 (252+14).
If your first post in the next period is your 269th (or higher) post, your activity will become 268 (252+14) and cannot increase until another two-week period starts.

Do you mean that the address shown in the "receive" tab has changed?

If yes, every time you receive a transaction, the address shown in "receive" tab changes. But you can still see all your addresses in "addresses" tab.

If the "addresses" tab in not available, click on "View" on top of the window and select "show addresses"
4124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BCH sent to BTC wallet on: April 13, 2020, 12:16:56 PM
If you have sent your BCH to a segwit address, then all that is needed to move those BCH is the public key of that address, and not the private key. If you spend the BTC on the corresponding address on the BTC chain, you expose the public key of that address, meaning anyone can then steal your BCH.
Can you please explain how it is possible to move BCH sent to BTC segwit address only with public key?
4125  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Is Bitcoin Blockchain Different From Altcoin Blockchains? on: April 13, 2020, 11:46:28 AM
I don't know whether we can have a site that has all stats on total hashrates of each cryptocurrency network.
You can use the link below to see the total hashrate of different altcoins.

No, the chance of hitting 0 and 10,000 is half of the chance of hitting other numbers.
For determining the outcome, some calculations is made and a hex string is obtained and is converted to a decimal number. Then, the decimal number is divided by 429496.7295. As the output is a decimal number, it needs to be rounded off to an integer.
Since only decimal numbers between 9999.51 and 9999.99 can be rounded off to 10,000, the chance of hitting 10,000 is half of chance of hitting other numbers.
There's a same thing for zero. Only decimal numbers between 0 and 0.50 can be rounded off to zero.
Ah I see, thank you for that explanation, seriously, I had no idea this was the case! So you mean hitting 10,000 is actually, (roughly estimated as) 1 in 20,000 chance and not 1 in 10,000?

Exactly, the chance of hitting 10,000 is 1 in 20,000

The chance of hitting 0 = 0.005 %
The chance of hitting 1 = 0.01 %
The chance of hitting 2 = 0.01 %
....
....
....
The chance of hitting 9998 = 0.01 %
The chance of hitting 9999 = 0.01 %
The chance of hitting 10,000 = 0.005%

Yeah, every number should have an equal chance of being hit,

No, the chance of hitting 0 and 10,000 is half of the chance of hitting other numbers.

4128  Other / Meta / Re: "Show new topics since last visit" possible? on: April 12, 2020, 04:00:26 PM
You can sort topics by their creation time. Then it will be easy to find topics created after your last visit in any board.
Add ;sort=first_post;desc after the URL of any board.

For example you can use the link below to sort the topics by their creation time in Meta.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=24.0;sort=first_post;desc

May I ask if there are people who are hitting the lucky number between 9998 - 9999 and the exact number 10000.
Yes, there are many people hit those amounts. Visit the link below to see posts some users have made to report winning 20 and 200 dollar.
Big wins at FreeBitco.in

Are there any ways to increase my probability win those amounts?
Since the game is provably fair, there is no way to change your chance of winning.
Every time you play the free roll or multiply game, some provably fair mathematical calculations is made to determine the outcome. These calculations can be verified and no one can change them.
4130  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why reward halving instead of doubling? on: April 11, 2020, 09:57:57 PM
1.
New generated coins are reduced, so the inflation rate is reduced.
Now the inflation rate is 3.7%. After halving, it will decrease to 1.8%.
After 2024 halving, the inflation rate will be lower than 1% which is lower than the inflation rate in almost all developed countries.

If new generated coins were to increase every four year, the inflation rate would increase. Reducing annual inflation rate is one of the main advantages of bitcoin comparing to fiat which is being printed all the times.

2.
In the first 210,000 blocks, 50 BTC/block were generated. This rate will decrease to 1 satoshi in 2136 (the exact year can be different)
Let's assume in the first 210,000 blocks, 1 satoshi/block were to be generated and this rate will increase to 50 BTC/block in 2136.
We are now on block number 1000. There are only 1000 satoshi. How can people trade while the supply is only 1000 satoshi and there is no unit smaller than satoshi?

The block reward started from 50 BTC and it converges to zero over time. It cannot start from zero, increase to 50 over time and drop to zero suddenly.
4131  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Looking for Bitcoin / ETH wallet that shows USD value on sent/received on: April 11, 2020, 09:18:05 PM
If you want to have both Bitcoin and Ethereum in one wallet, you can use Exodus.
If you click on each of transactions, two prices are displayed. One of them is the current price and another one is the price on the date of transaction.

Note that Exodus is not open-source. Although, I haven't heard any complaint about its security, I don't recommend it for storing large amounts.
(Exodus give you the private key. But we don't know if they have access to our private keys.)

Some other users of the forum may come with better suggestions.

Thanks already in advance, first to reply with a good one gets $20
No need.
4132  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum no receiving my bitcoins on: April 10, 2020, 09:26:35 PM
1. Bitcoin Core which is the real bitcoin
2. Bitcoin Cash which is the fake bitcoin.
There are nothing as Bitcoin Core. It's a made up name given by Roger Ver to separate Bitcoin from his shitcoin.

Yes, I know that.
I just tried to understand what OP did.
Thanks for clarification. I edited that post to not make any confusion.

To OP:

In order to recover your bitcoin Cash, you can also use Electron Cash. (Download it from https://electroncash.org/)

It works same as Electrum.
You will be able to recover your coins even using your seed phrase.

4133  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum no receiving my bitcoins on: April 10, 2020, 09:00:27 PM
I have the latest version of Electrum 3.3.8

If you have downloaded Electrum from official website which is https://electrum.org, there is no problem with your wallet.

As BitcoinGirl.Club said, you might have bought Bitcoin Cash instead of bitcoin.

Bitcoin.com has two kinds of bitcoin.
1. Bitcoin Core which is the real bitcoin
2. Bitcoin Cash which is the fake bitcoin.

Edit: In reality, we don't have any cryptocurrency called Bitcoin Core. That's the name only used in bitcoin.com.
Thank you BitcoinGirl.Club for clarification.

Which one did you buy?
How much did you pay for one bitcoin?
Every bitcoin now costs about 6,900 dollar, while the fake bitcoin (Bitcoin Cash) costs about 230 dollar.

4134  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's longest time have you been without 'deleted post' message? on: April 10, 2020, 05:47:05 PM
The most recent related entry I’ve managed to find in my Inbox is dated April 1st 2019, kidding on some thread related to April Fools day, although I never understood why my post got deleted. Others have surely been deleted, but most likely alongside a whole thread.

I managed to gleam more informtion on why a lot of posts were deleted on April 1st here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5237204.msg54138698#msg54138698

DdmrDdmr is talking about a deleted post on April 01, 2019 not 2020.
A lot of posts were deleted on April 1, 2020 in two self-moderated threads by the topic starter for a reason that makes it completely different from DdmrDdmr's deleted post.
4135  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's longest time have you been without 'deleted post' message? on: April 10, 2020, 04:28:47 PM
Although, I am pretty sure I have had my posts deleted, but I just didn't get a message notification about it.
If your post get deleted and you don't receive any message regarding the deletion, it means that your post hasn't directly been deleted. The topic you posted in has likely been trashed.
4136  Other / Meta / Re: POLL: Initial merit provided to older established accounts on: April 10, 2020, 01:04:50 PM
Some users deserve it and some don't deserve it.
The merit system was implemented about two years ago. A user who has received many merits in these two years, deserve those airdropped merits as well.

A user who hasn't earned a single merit in these two years, couldn't earn any merit even if the merit system had been implemented 10 years ago. So, this user don't deserve to be a legendary member.
There are some users in the forum who deserve even much more airdropped merit.
Assume that a user has earned 4000 merit in these two years and is active in the forum since 2014. If the merit system had been implemented in 2014, this user could earn 8000 merit before 2018.
So, this user deserve even more than 1000 airdropped merit.

Guys, tell me who plays multiply btc, how many times in a row can a number fall, for example, more than 50 based on your experience?
By "a number fall", do you mean lose or stays at a low range?
For example, I bet 1 satoshi on <50, then how many times can there be winning numbers >50? I bet <50 and after each loss, I doubled the bet, a total of 11 times the winning numbers were >50 and I lost most of my funds

Bets are independent from each other. It means that whenever you bet, the outcome doesn't depend on previous bets. So, it is even possible to have millions of loss in a row.
If you think that you can double your bet amount whenever you lose, so you finally win a bet and cover all your previous losses, you are completely wrong.
Finally, your balance will decrease to an amount which makes it impossible to continue the game.
Note that if you lose 100 bets, your chance to win the 101st bet is same as the first bet because bets are independent from each other.

Already checking the team also the same, went we compare with "CSGO - ESL PRO LEAGUE SEASON 11" both of these matches have different team. Since the team is still the same for DOTA 2 Matches why they split the prize pool match instance make them one match then more prize pool on the match.
There are a few differences between the teams.
One of them has M5.Academy and PulaNaVilet while the other one doesn't have them. But I still believe that the admin has made a mistake and added two bets for a single event.
4139  Other / Meta / Re: SUGGESTION, hide report to moderator button for your own posts and account! on: April 09, 2020, 12:32:01 AM
I reported my own post once and it was marked as good.  Grin
I was writing a new topic which was a bit long. After two or three lines, I posted that by mistake. Since it could take more than an hour to make the whole post, I edited the post to "please delete" or something like that, locked it and reported it to get trashed. Then I opened a new topic.
4140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recovering old wallet.dat on: April 09, 2020, 12:00:27 AM
If that were the case, and you wanted to load the wallet from there withouth downloading the 200+GB of blockchain, you could use the "prune" command and limit the size of the blockchain stored locally.
Even if prune mode is enabled, the whole blockchain must be downloaded. The purpose of prune mode is only decreasing the storage size.
In prune mode, while new data is downloaded, old data get deleted. It doesn't mean that old blocks don't need to be downloaded.

To OP:

You don't need to download the blockchain. You can export your private keys and import them to another wallet like Electrum. But I recommend you to first check if you have any received transaction.
Use listreceivedbyaddress command. It will show you addresses that have received transactions.

If there was received transaction for any of addresses, use the command below to export the private key of that address (addresses)

Code:
dumpprivkey "your bitcoin address"

You can also export all your private keys using dumpwallet command.

Note that if the wallet is locked, you should add the command below before other commands.

Code:
walletpassphrase "your password" "timeout"
timeout is in seconds and is the time wallet keeps your password. In other words, your wallet will be locked after timeout ends.

After you exported private keys of addresses that have balance, go to Electrum. (Download Electrum only from https://electrum.org)

Create a new wallet and select "Import bitcoin addresses and private keys"

Enter your private keys. Then you will have access to your bitcoins if there is any.
