for the drama.
gox, crypsy, pirateat40, GAW, BFL, sooo many others. cant keep track any more.
one in a thousand posts has a nugget of information.
sarcasm aside, the are some good folks here that provide humor, games, tips, services, hardware, software, firmware, and general good info.
for me, making money is a side effect, although its a really really good one.
EDIT: also to be in on part of a history making event.. "yes young padawan, i was there when BTC was $2 USD and mined on GPUs.."

Anyone else seen Bitcoin ATM in random places?
closest one to me is in boston ma, 85 miles away. long way just to see one and buy some coin might have to do a long weekend trip there sometime to see the sites and that btc atm would definitely be on the list.

board arrived today. sleeving looks fantastic. gonna put it on the basement rig that has usb risers; it will allow a cleaner setup as i can pull the 4 pin string off the psu and tuck this board behind the rig.

The 2GB cards should work till January 2017 or so....
Unfortunately, in many cases OpenCL application cannot allocate entire GPU memory, for example, drivers can reserve some memory for desktop (200-300MB usually). Also, if miner generates DAG on GPU, it must allocate additional buffer for it (about 30MB). same here with my 2 gb 380itx (for my htpc) it was on ubuntu 15.10 amd 15.12 driver. it was not the desktop card - ie not using it for the desktop display my 8 gb 390 card was driving the display. no workie..

If 1% of defvee is too much for you, there is a choice, just use some other miner and save some coins. In fact, you won't see any additional profit even if I make devfee twice less, I doubt you can feel 0.5% difference in profit. And lowering devfee just because you think that I earn "too much" is not a good reason for me.
i use your eth miner because its easy and convenient and earns me money. if you do a zcash miner my one percent -or whatever you chose- is gladly yours

my 5 compacs run on a rpi model b, stock rasbian image, with a superbpag 70 watt hub and an artic cooling usb fan on them. cgminer-gekko version, compiled from source.
i run root on the rpi and ssh into it. once in a while from cold boot all the compacs do not come up running, i just warm boot the rpi again and they usually come right up. never had to "hot plug" them.
compacs run at 300 mhz with 0.70 volts set on my mulimeter.. thats from recollection, might be wrong on that voltage though.
just listing what works for me. ymmv of course.
EDIT removed some unneeded stuff.

They show that they already have more than 110,000 users using their software on their PCs, but who knows the truth behind???
if that number is only for the f@h clients its most likely correct. the concept is about the same as mining, you run your cpu/gpus flat out 24/7 to do workunits that represent protein folding. i did it a few years ago but it wasnt for any coins, it was purely a donation of cpu/gpu time to their cause.

risers for my gpu bitcoin miner video cards. back then only ribbon risers were around and i modded them to put a molex on one of the wires so it didnt draw power from the pci socket.

AFAIK you should not be running Bitcoin Core on a SDD due to the intense stress on IOPS (if you have to run reindex or something). They aren't as durable as HDDs (yet).
ssds are the actually best option for keeping the blockchain because of the iops. when you need to reindex or whateverit flies compared to a spinner. ssds have so many rewrites you dont need to worry. so that ssd used for the blockchain will only last 6 years instead of 9. so what. your hard drive will be outdated in the same time period.

Neuroticfish , congrats !
Phil thanks so much for running this, i always looked forward to these, not for the reward, it was for the fun of the guessing and watching the difficultly jump around and come near your guess towards the end. lent some suspense and fun as opposed the regular FUD that is everywhere else on the forum..

yeah that initial download is a killer. i have a 1.5 gigabit connection, yes gigabit, not gigabyte. downloading it from scratch at this size is not realistic for me. only reason i have it at all is because i started in 2013 or so when the size wasnt too bad and kept with it every day.
my bandwidth is so bad that i regularly backup the blockchain to several places so i dont have to download it again if it gets corrupted, just start from last backup which is about every week or so.
