We have a cap of only 21 million bitcoin but this doesn't mean that it can't be increased. The rules of bitcoin can be changed with Hard Fork.

You also need consensus for this kind of move, else the hard fork will end up in just another useless shitcoin like you BCH, BSV and all their lesser known cousins.
And you won't ever get consensus for that since it would make all the existing coins less valuable (so the voters are already bribed to keep the current situation).
4182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you even helped anyone with bitcoin? on: March 23, 2022, 07:43:41 PM
I have; it was somebody who comes now and then to this forum and was in need for real. It was not an overly big amount, still, from what I know it was of pretty good help.
But, as I said, it was all through this forum. I would not be so eager to send bitcoin to somebody I know personally, because "he has Bitcoin" together with "he affords to donate" can easily make people jump to wrong conclusions.
4183  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin Mixer services be trusted? on: March 23, 2022, 07:33:50 PM
1) Mixer knows BTC address from which you send and knows the address to which you receive. Is information about the connection of the sending address with the receiving address saved? If this info is stored on their server, having access to this info, you can unravel the entire chain of transactions?

They can indeed do such connections if they want to, and even sell to chain analysis companies. In theory.
In reality I'd expect that they erase as much information as they can (and as early as they can) to avoid headaches from authorities (and also boast about this to their potential customers).

2) If the mixing service provider is a website, then it can get various information, such as an IP address and location? What can the mixer learn about its customers in this way?

It has been proven that clearnet websites of the mixers are pretty much under constant attacks. Putting them into the protection of cloudflare and such is something I've seen done by some of the mixer businesses, but it's wrong, exactly because then (also) cloudflare can get (some of) this information.
So the solution is simple: use the mixers that offer TOR addresses. This way you protect yourself from this (valid!) situation.

3) What information about users can generally be stored on bitcoin mixing service servers? If attackers / hackers get access to them, then this can be used to the detriment of users, right?

I am not that "advanced" in this, but I expect that the best mixers keep only the minimum information to ensure customers' money is not lost because of various mistakes.
But source transactions (and obviously source addresses) and also the resulted funded addresses should be there, together with some unique ID or session information the user may receive before starting the process.
Of course, as you stated, IPs can also be stored, but only on clearnet.

4) How can minimize the collection of personal information by mixers?

Access them only under TOR, be careful to not make mistakes (which can reveal more info about you when you ask about them), withdraw the mixed coins to your wallet (obviously to different addresses), never mix from or to centralized service (exchange)... I don't know of anything else. Don't mix overly big amounts in one step.

5) What other weaknesses and vulnerabilities are there in the scheme "your address 1 - mixer - your address 2"?

Make sure the mixer you use is known, has a good reputation and it's highly professional. Because if they're not, you may face "vulnerabilities" (intentional or not) you may not like (and the service provider may or may not be aware of that).
4184  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How secure are my funds Trust wallet? on: March 23, 2022, 07:14:45 PM
I feel or used to feel it was the safest wallet to use because of the seed phrase feature it has.

As said it's closed source. Even more, while you are on the right track by choosing a wallet where you do have the seed, you should read about the dangers of hot wallets too.
(If your device is stolen or you install by mistake a malicious software, you can lose your funds, hence this kind of solution is only for small funds. For larger funds learn about hardware wallets and cold storage.)

I have my private keys on paper somewhere safe. [...] If apple can take them down, android play store can do the same. What happens then?

Since you have the seed, you should be able to recover your wallet with another wallet software; but I've never used Trust wallet and I don't know if it's a standard seed, compatible with other wallets or not.
On the other hand you can act from now and:

1. Install a more widely compatible wallet to your device. I'll assume it's an Android phone and there the best choice is Electrum[1] (reputed, open source). Generate safely a new wallet onto Electrum and make sure you save the new seed carefully.
2. Send your bitcoin from Trust wallet to Electrum (and make sure you double check the recipient address is correct!)

---
[1] For installing go to https://Electrum.org , download page, and click there the google play link to make sure you don't install a malicious clone.
4185  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't accept bribe to do KYC, it doesn't worth it on: March 23, 2022, 06:47:00 PM
There could be a data leak from an exchange

It's a rather complicated matter.
One important thing is that data leak is not even necessary, a warrant may just do. Even more, I would not be surprised to hear that this or that exchange has sold certain user data to other companies.
Another important thing is that while way too many send (full) KYC information to get airdrop of whatever 100% worthless shitcoin or shittoken, getting 5$ may look appealing to some and 20$ will look appealing to (far too) many.
And some of those, after years, will realize how stupid they were. (It has happened to me too, so I know.)

So while you are completely right, I fear that unfortunately the target audience for this kind of offers will most probably ignore your warning for now.
4186  Local / Romānă (Romanian) / Re: Cumpara Bitcoin fara KYC: ATM-urile Bitcoin Romania care respecta anonimitatea on: March 23, 2022, 06:34:23 PM

4187  Local / Romānă (Romanian) / Re: Cumpara Bitcoin fara KYC: ATM-urile Bitcoin Romania care respecta anonimitatea on: March 23, 2022, 03:29:44 PM

Adica in lumea mea "Available Balance" inseamna "Sold Disponibil" si nu "Balanță Disponibilă".

sursa: antic-shop.ro

2. La cel putin o locatie afiseaza suma negativa la Available Balance. Desi inteleg de unde poate sa vina, nu arata tocmai profesional (sa nu spun mai urat).

Am sa fac si un thread nou imediat ce imi va permite timpul Smiley

Normal, ca n-or intra zilele-n sac. Cand o sa fie timp, o sa fie. Ideea era sa stii.
4188  Economy / Speculation / Re: $500 for Bitcoin - 2030 on: March 23, 2022, 03:07:41 PM
I don't want to miss the train a second time on bitcoin. little picture of my bad analysis for the price of bitcoin for the next 5 years. I could be wrong but I want to leave my mark here by starting to invest in bitcoin $500 and main target by 2030.

Bitcoin historically was a very good investment if the investor did hold for at least 3-4 years. Of course, the more the merrier.
On the other hand, please decide for yourself what you do with your money. On a Bitcoin forum clearly the main trend will be "good, go for it, invest" Cheesy

I will touch other topics too:
1. Be careful where you buy from, go for reputable platforms.
2. Be careful with the fees. And especially if you buy from a centralized exchange, be careful at the withdrawal fees, which tend to be big. This is important especially if you decide to DCA or, anyway, buy more batches.
3. Learn how to safely configure and use a wallet (since keeping the coins at exchange for long time is not advised - not your keys, not your coins). Consider buying a hardware wallet. Learn how to safely store your wallet's seed.

You search and/or can ask around for all these topics. No matter if Bitcoin turns to be a life changing investment if you find out in the worse moment that you've made a mistake and your coins are gone.

Would be better off investing on some other coins in the top 20 after you do some thorough research about the best coins.

No. For a newbie this is a bad advice.
While I don't deny that altcoins can bring very good gains at times, this happens seldom, for short periods. Overall, on long periods of time, one betting on altcoins will most probably end up either with smaller gains than with Bitcoin, either completely at a loss.

I was, like you, some years ago, for half bitcoin, half altcoins investments. But the passing years have proven that the altcoins side was just an ever-decreasing bag.
4189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Prince Philip of Serbia: "only way around inflation is Bitcoin" on: March 23, 2022, 02:57:43 PM
I am only writing here about the opinion of a good deed of the population.
long to explain, but to try to simplify. the opinion of pro-Russian Serbs - all the states that support Ukrajina at the moment, in the '99s were with NATO, and against Serbia.
About history, Russia's influence in Serbia dates back a long time, unfortunately, it did not bring much good. it is a big burden that pulls the state backwards.

Thanks for clearing up. And I'm sorry to hear that it's such a wide opinion. I really hoped for better...

I have not yet met a Serb (from Serbia) who will admit that they as a people have done anything wrong

Denial is common in human kind history. And I can easily guess that state propaganda encourages that.
In these times the information travels so easy it's sad to see people choose to believe what comforts them instead of what real.
But yeah, if @examplens tells the same, having "insider" information.. I cannot deny that.

The Royal family of Serbia is almost as important as a gin salesman in Iran.

I laughed on this, but you're not completely correct/accurate.
He has a small chance to influence the people. It's not the government so it clearly won't do much, but it can be a start, especially as people tend to be more receptive to their own public personalities.

Mersi! Cumva acesta a reusit sa imi eludeze vigilenta Smiley  De fapt sunt un pic mai ocupat decat de obicei si probabil de aia...
Am intrat si eu.

Bafta sa avem! Amandoi! Cheesy

4192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Prince Philip of Serbia: "only way around inflation is Bitcoin" on: March 23, 2022, 10:37:32 AM
Serbia is in a big dilemma here, in 1999 experienced similarly what is happening in Ukraine, bombing and destroying civilian infrastructure. So we certainly sympathize with the people of Ukraine, we know very well what they are going through. On the other hand, the attack on Serbia was by NATO, so it's hard to give support to someone who tore down your bridges, factories etc...

You've mixed up apples and oranges very badly. I won't be as straight as Lucius, but I tend to agree with him.
Also Ukraine is not part of NATO, so your analogy doesn't stand.
No offense, but I hope that the average Serbian doesn't have this... distorted... view over the history.
4193  Other / Meta / Re: What happened to the forum plagiarism rules? on: March 23, 2022, 10:25:04 AM
For an account to be banned, you need to give several examples of plagiarism.

I have the feeling that's not (only) about how many examples of plagiarism are presented, it may be also related to the number of reports (and maybe reporters).
One of my (few, sorry) plagiarism reports stayed there for quite a while (more than 2 weeks) until that account was banned, although he has made plenty of plagiarized posts.

On the other hand, checking properly such an user requires more time than removing a spam/shitpost and the overall damage is big, hence the mods do have to pay proper attention. So I can understand that they may not always be "in the mood" for such a job.

So have the rules against plagiarism become laxer or not?

I would surely not count on that!
4194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russian individuals are using crypto to bypass sanctions on: March 22, 2022, 07:29:18 PM
European central bank is now understanding the implications of cryptocurrency and decentralization.

Actually Lagarde pretty much knows what Bitcoin is for and what it can do. But her declaration is rather "political" and what she's trying to do is to find as much ammo as she can against bitcoin.

The number of Russians using bitcoin to avoid sanctions is most probably insignificant and the big fish they want to sanction can easily buy whatever they want using others' names where needed. As few examples have shown, fiat (her so dear Euro and Dollars) is still transported abroad in suitcases when not stored in 1001 banks around the globe under 101 names.

So what Bitcoin does now for Russians is a drop in the ocean and she knows that. Just she is afraid of Bitcoin and its power if it's left to grow freely.
4195  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Incompatibility v4.1.5 and v4.2 on: March 22, 2022, 05:44:18 PM
A wallet backup running on the older version 4.1.5, let me export the labels (menu option). I then imported these labels into the wallet running on the new version 4.2

I now have what I want - wallet on newest version, and labels too.

Shame on me, I managed to miss that feature, although I'm using Electrum for quite some years. Thanks for sharing.
4196  Other / Meta / Re: A question about reposting my own content on: March 22, 2022, 03:49:27 PM
I just don't want to trip any spam rules (again, not that any of my mailing list content is low-quality!)

If the content is useful/informative, I don't see any problem.
I consider spam only if the only real reason for the post is the back link to the website: overly often posted weak articles (or too short fragments of those). I think that it won't be the case.

Even more: if you'd start getting some of those posts removed, then you could start worrying. But not before Wink
4197  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: HitBTC scam on: March 22, 2022, 03:36:30 PM
Scammers disguise themselves as a stock exchange. When you deposit your money, they block your account, ostensibly to check documents, while any documents sent are answered with "photo changed".
In the support service, there are most likely robots who always answer either "you still need to wait" or "you sent the modified photos." I believe that such an "exchange" should be blocked on all resources, such as Coinmarketcap.

Most platforms ask nowadays for KYC. Some are legit, some are scam. Some of the legit ones have badly configured system for handling KYC and in most cases the support answers slow (if at all).
I don't know which is the case for HitBTC. They are pretty old on the market and I don't think that they could have been surviving if would scam for so many years.

My advises would be:
1. If you indeed want to use a (any!) KYC platform, you better ensure you have passed the minimum KYC for withdrawing funds before depositing anything.
2. If you have problems with them, learn to have patience. It's nice that you've warned us (and I do appreciate that), but only their support can help you for real.

If you've used only their chat, you should try to open a ticket. If you've got automated answers on tickets ask farther until you get clear answers on what to do next. And keep in mind that unfortunately not all support employees are smart and helpful.

If indeed it's getting proven that they withhold user funds without good reason, then they'll get - sooner or later - delisted from the various platforms. But for now (and sorry if it sounds harsh) your only "proof" can be read as "your papers are not 100% right and you don't have the patience needed for this".

PS. I've had account on HitBTC many years ago, I didn't like the platform to stay, but I've withdrawn my money easily. Just it was before the KYC days.
4198  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Incompatibility v4.1.5 and v4.2 on: March 22, 2022, 03:17:04 PM
Is this an expected behaviour? Am I now forced to use 4.2 forever? I didn't see any warnings about this.

I could recreate the wallet for 4.1.5 using the seed phrase, but that loses the transaction descriptions.

Well, the release notes don't seem to tell anything specific about it, but normally, if one wants to keep everything untouched at an upgrade test, he can backup everything before updating.

I didn't see that message (I also didn't get to update yet), but it seems that yes, the only choices seem to be that you either keep using 4.2 (I see no real reason for going back, actually) and keep your labels, either go back to 4.1.5 by recovering from seed and lose those labels.

As a rule of thumb, I would not get too "attached" to those labels, there's always a chance that something goes wrong and you have to recover from seed. Not a big chance, but still...
4199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Prince Philip of Serbia: "only way around inflation is Bitcoin" on: March 22, 2022, 01:50:01 PM
Well. First things first.. Is Serbia a country?? Isn't it like a part of Russia??

Ohh ohh..Thats Siberiaaaa! LOL

I wanted to say that your knowledge of geography sux, but then I had a second thought:
with so much cheering in Serbia about Putin's war, you may not be that wrong actually...
(Yeah, I know, I know, most Serbians are OK and what the media shows may hurt them as well...)

All well as the Prince seems to be pretty sincere and open with his thoughts about Bitcoin having the ability to free people and take us to hard money. The quote about "We need to take money back from the state" is quite revolutionary. We need more of you Prince.

Well, he's just a public figure with good views about Bitcoin. While I clearly don't mind more of those, unfortunately he cannot make much of a change. He may convince a few more give Bitcoin a chance, but that's all.
4200  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Pretending as me on telegram on: March 22, 2022, 01:33:11 PM
Dang bro! That's my bad. I was going to get fu**d up. I was searching for Shasan32 on telegram and I saw the Name says Shasan (Lending service) which you provide. But, I didn't notice that there is another additional 1 after shasan32. But, You are clever enough and you have saved me, bro. I would like to suggest to you one thing if you don't mind. Your Telegram Name is different than your username. It would be better if you changed your name and keep it as Shasan instead.

In-forum names cannot be changed (under normal circumstances) and I would guess that the desired telegram handler is probably taken by somebody else.
You should never count on the fact that the same username on different platforms means the same user; don't assume anything if you want to avoid (bad) surprises.
