421  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Samourai wallet website seized by DOJ, developers arrested on: April 27, 2024, 06:45:58 AM
Incidentally, Sparrow Wallet removed all of its samurai-whirlpool-related features right after that incident,
in this commit: github.com/sparrowwallet/sparrow/commit/1676676e06d8e7774d9eddc2f08663b1a2c49e3a

And even if an older version with whirlpool is used, there'll be no Samurai Whirlpool Coordinator to process it.
The Samurai team released a decentralized Soroban whirlpool at the beginning of April. Wouldn't it be possible to switch to a different coordinator using Soroban? From the little I read about it, Soroban was working and had decent traffic. I wonder if the government-friendly Wasabi wallet will ever get targeted. It probably never will.
422  Economy / Services / Re: LoyceV's Signature for Rent [available July 1, 2023] on: April 26, 2024, 05:54:02 PM
Since CM was taken down, I stopped advertising mixers. And since 2 days ago, the Netherlands no longer allows advertising for gambling sites (including affilates), unless they can prove less than 5% of the players are under 24 years old. I don't like this level of government involvement, but it applies nonetheless.
I am sorry if I sound like a douchebag, but why do you care about what your parasitic government thinks about your involvement or non-involvement in a signature campaign for a crypto casino? We have Bitcoin, so they don't have to know. Do they know the real name behind the LoyceV username or were you contacted by one of their parasites agents?
423  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Foundation Passport Official Thread on: April 26, 2024, 03:55:23 PM
So sorry, we like to play things pretty close to the vest and don't want to give away too much! Suffice it to say we're going to break this space open with something new in two directions  Cheesy
Hmm, that sounded pretty similar to what your marketing head said in the YouTube video I watched. Are you the same guy?

Unfortunately it seems that the effort has mostly stalled, but we're in communication with some Monero devs and trying to see how we can assist.
That's too bad. I know that whatever they are building is unofficial, but it would still be cool to see a privacy coin like Monero working within an airgapped solution like that of the Passport hardware wallet.

An excellent new review of Passport + Envoy just dropped, thought it was worth sharing for anyone on the fence:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9EPXCJWTB0
I hoped it would be Ben Sessions. A pretty popular channel when it comes to these types of software/hardware wallet reviews. But I have come across the work of Crypto Guide as well. Decent lad.
424  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Play a browser game Earn Bitcoin/Etherum and MMOrpg stuff on: April 26, 2024, 03:41:12 PM
It's like you are suffering from a Multiple Personality Disorder. First you announce a big update and changes on the site, and then a few hours later you inform everyone that you have abandoned the project.
If you have given up on the idea of creating the game, there is a lock button at the bottom of the page. Click on it and the thread will be locked, stopping any further discussion.
425  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: OrangeFren.com - instant, KYC-free, exchange comparison on: April 26, 2024, 03:35:46 PM
The OrangeFren Guarantee works through the exchange providing us with a deposit that we hold onto. Then in the event of a dispute with a specific exchange, we are able to, under previously agreed terms, to refund the user directly using the exchange's deposit. ChangeHero has not decided to to provide us with such a deposit, however they have assured us that they will issue a refund in the event of a refusal of undergoing KYC.
Nothing against you or your honesty, but I trust a centralized exchange or swap service to do the right thing as much as I trust any government that the tax revenues they collect will be put to good use. In other words, I don't trust them one bit!

But I have had several positive experiences with eXch, and can only recommend the service to others.

I noticed that your website doesn't have a FAQ or Help section. It might be worth creating one. For instance, I wanted to check which exchanges have an OrangeFren Guarantee, but the information is nowhere to be found on the site. I can complete a search and see it in the results, but there really should be something better.

Thumbs up for the giveaway!
426  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How does clogged mempool affect your crypto business? on: April 26, 2024, 03:23:45 PM
...but it is impossible to find a coin like BTC which has the kind of utilities it has.
That's true, but don't forget that many people will gladly give up on security and decentralization if you offer them a more cost-effective and convenient way to pay with crypto. When you try to introduce Bitcoin to anyone and talk about all its strengths and benefits, the inevitable question from their side is, "how much is this going to cost me?" We currently don't have that big of an argument to onboard them. Sad
427  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Table] Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos on: April 26, 2024, 03:16:38 PM
I was wondering how those casinos are taking care of the situation who doesn't charge anything for Bitcoin withdrawal. There are 8 casinos in the table with no fee for withdrawal, only Gamdom has increased their min withdrawal limit to $800. Perhaps, they will reduce it when things will be normal again.
My respect goes out to them, especially in times like the ones we are experiencing right now. Some casinos are very greedy and charge way more than they have to, just to pocket the difference. And that difference ends up being a big one. And then there are those who cover everything from their pockets. They deserve some love.

One way to mitigate the problem could be to do what Gamdom did and increase the minimum withdrawal amount. That way, there wouldn't be as many withdrawals during times of high congestion where the casinos waste big amounts on paying for mining fees.
428  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Table] Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos on: April 25, 2024, 04:03:40 PM
Fees were about 40sat vB a few hours ago.

I think they will be back to the "normal " 20-30 sat vB at any time in the next days.
I think we checked the mempool conditions around the same time today because I also remember seeing recommended fees at around 40 sat/vByte. Sadly, they are now around 100 sats/vByte right now. The block time is below 10 minutes. The difficulty adjustment played out in our favor, which is one of the reasons we are seeing quicker block confirmations at the start of the new interval.

(At least we will have a single UTXO when we withdrawal blackjack.fun campaign earnings Smiley )
Yeah, that's true.
429  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How does clogged mempool affect your crypto business? on: April 25, 2024, 03:55:25 PM
...I can't buy anything with my Bitcoins, I can't deposit and gamble in casinos via BTC, I can't buy a VPN via BTC, I can't send someone money abroad via BTC.
We can still do all these things, but it's not worth it, considering that mining fees will be too high for the BTC transaction to make sense from an economic viewpoint. I feel sorry for all legitimate users who now have to press the pause button because spammers have infected the chain. Worst case scenario, many turn their backs on Bitcoin completely ad embrace other coins/tokens that aren't affected by this spam exploit.
430  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: YoMix Service Status on: April 25, 2024, 03:42:19 PM
They are also not banned (I think) so they can still communicate with others via PM.
I remember that theymos said that representatives of mixing services will only be banned from posting at first. So you are right. They can receive and send PMs. However, that is only a temporary solution, and since we are now 4 months in the mixers being banned on Bitcointalk era, theymos might have changed his mind and banned them for good.
431  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Table] Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos on: April 25, 2024, 03:24:32 PM
Please expect high withdrawal fees in all crypto casinos ever since the halving due to the on-chain spam being created with the Runes exploit.
I haven't checked or made any updates to the fees in the table, but I don't doubt that they are much higher than what is currently written there.

If you are not in a hurry to get your winnings, wait for the situation to calm down (if it does) before requesting withdrawals.
432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Important reminders on: April 25, 2024, 03:11:59 PM
I guarantee these are still just passing fads though and nobody will care nearly as much about them a year from now. They will have just left a lot of blockchain bloat in their wake, and there's no way to stop it.
I wish you were right, but I don't think you are. Ordinals spam didn't stop. It slowed down, but it's still here. There is now a new form of spamming. When the spammers get tired of Runes, they will invent Corks, Hooks, Queens, or whatever other bullshit they can come up with. In the meantime, legitimate developers are being arrested and their websites taken down by three-letter agencies of the United States of Genocide. Oh, I meant America. Not that it has anything to do with the Runes garbage, I am just thinking it aloud.
433  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Aqua wallet - Bitcoin, Lightning, Liquid on: April 24, 2024, 07:00:49 PM
This isn't directly related to the Aqua wallet, but then again, it could be in the future. Boltz exchange has drastically lowered the network fees for swaps between Lightning and Liquid Bitcoin. The fees have dropped from around 400 sats to 40 sats. They explain this change by saying that they are beta testing a liquid protocol upgrade which makes it possible to send transactions with fees of 0.01 sat/vByte instead of 0.1 sat/vByte.

There are some comments and discussions about it here:

434  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Seed phrase backup against natural disaster areas on: April 24, 2024, 06:48:57 PM
Those who use or have heard of airgapped hardware wallets know what a SeedQR is. The standard backup method is, of course, on paper, but Stamp Seed has now created a titanium plate for SeedQRs.

It's an interesting concept. I just wonder what would happen if the stamped and finished plate would be damaged by a high temperature fire or strong acid, and would camera's still be able to recover the keys from the code. I leave this to Jameson Lopp to test.

435  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Important reminders on: April 24, 2024, 04:24:52 PM
Question: what should we do if instead of Ordinal users there were "legitimate users" who used Bitcoin as cash? Censor a percentage of those, or work on scaling?
Of course there should be no censoring of anyone using Bitcoin as digital cash, and I have never thought of saying something like that. I wish the situation post-halving was the result of legitimate use, but sadly it isn't. If it wasn't spam, but a genuine onboarding process of new users, these discussions and ideas wouldn't need to exist. The only ideas that would be valid would be ways of scaling.
436  Economy / Gambling / Re: My betting strategies on: April 24, 2024, 04:11:04 PM
<Snip>
If you are a football/soccer fan, you have probably heard about the stadium where the Bolivian national team plays its matches. The national stadium is located at a sea level of over 3500 meters. When other teams come to play Bolivia who aren't used to the height, they get into all sorts of problems and issues like breathing normally. Bolivia used to beat all its rivals playing at home because of that. It wasn't even easy for Argentina and Brazil.
437  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Foundation Passport Official Thread on: April 23, 2024, 07:58:58 PM
I just came across a video of your marketing head talking with the Bitfinex team, and I heard some interesting things I wanted to mention them and ask you about it.

  • He was pretty secretive but said that Foundation is working on multiple new hardware devices, with plans to release them this year. Can you say something more, exclusively for the Bitcointalk community? Wink We already know there won't be a pre-sale stage.
  • How is the development going with Lightning being added to Envoy? When do you expect that to be finished, and have you thought about liquid BTC, for example?
  • How far ahead is the Monero community with introducing their forked version of the Passport firmware to support the coin?
438  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Important reminders on: April 23, 2024, 05:01:45 PM
Absolutely disagree. Bitcoin doesn't censor for the simple reason that it is the right thing to do. If you don't like censorship-resistant always-no-matter-what cash, there's a host variety of cryptocurrencies I can direct you to.
It's not cash. Again, my opinion. Anyone is free to agree or disagree.

According to you. According to someone else, they might pose a threat to the P2P cash model.
Then, that someone is free to suggest what should be done to change/stop the threat and the community will decide the course of action.

If you want the system to scale, work on scaling. Not on censorship. That's the appropriate response.
I don't disagree. But how good has that done us? We don't have a solution for scaling on L1 that wouldn't affect the decentralized nature of Bitcoin and which wouldn't require much more storage at the same time.

I would very much would like to ignore Inscriptions but sadly I can't - Every now and then I am faced with 100 sat/vB fees if I want to make a payment of a couple of dollars to any kind of service. How can I choose to ignore them when they have a huge impact on the core functionality of Bitcoin?
It's already been ignored, thus Ordinals led to Runes. Tomorrow Runes will lead to something new, and then we can all enjoy our censorship-resistant Bitcoin at 500-700 sat/vByte.
439  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: OrangeFren.com - instant, KYC-free, exchange comparison on: April 23, 2024, 04:41:10 PM
What does it mean where there is no notification or guarantee from your side? For instance, just for testing purposes, I did a BTC to ETH search, and the second result is for ChangeHero. Your page doesn't show the OrangeFren Guarantee (like with eXch), but there is also no warning that funds may be frozen.

When I go to ChangeHero's website, the first thing I see is this:

Quote
Please note that ChangeHero uses a risk-scoring automated system aimed to spot suspicious activity during operations. In case your transaction is flagged by this system, ChangeHero reserves the right to conduct the KYC procedure and process the transaction in accordance with our AML/KYC policy and our Terms of Use (paragraph 3.6).
https://changehero.io/

The site's TOS also states the following:

Quote
To be able to avail the services, we require you to consent to pass through AML/KYC procedures that may be implemented on you according to our internal AML/KYC policies. During these procedures, ChangeHero reserves the right to request additional information and documents which are intended without limitation to identify our User and to prove the source of the funds.

440  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN] BlackJack.Fun | Signature Campaign | Up to $90/W on: April 23, 2024, 04:06:21 PM
I can not send coins to my private wallet.

i have a balance of 1.416 mBTC or in uBTC 1,416.4

if i try to withdraw 1000 mBTC i get the message --> amount insufficient funds
if i try to withdraw 500 mBTC i get the message --> amount insufficient funds
if i try to withdraw 1.000 mBTC (with a point) i get the message --> the amount is too small

What is my failure?
Have you taken into account the withdrawal fees? Check the withdrawal tab and the fees that apply. Subtract the sum from your total balance and what is left is approximately what you can withdraw. It could be that.
