How did everyone do reselling Neptunes? Has anyone used the reseller portal yet?
422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 13, 2013, 01:36:03 PM
Might sound like a really daft question, but when I RMA a board, do i include the full board with the heat stink attached, or separate it and send?

Just the board and nothing else Wink

Thanks, so i take the heat sink off the top and just mail the board? Any tips for what to package it in so it is secure?

424  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Satoshi linked to MTGOX? on: December 12, 2013, 09:26:07 PM
I'm starting to believe Satoshi is Mark from MTGOX.

No way! He'd have blown all his BTC on hookers and coke by now if it was.

MtGox was registered in 2007, just 2 years before Bitcoin came into light.
Bitcoin is a mastermind's masterpiece.
Many years of planning and plotting is involved.

Mtgox was actually originally a Magic The Gathering trading site, that is probably why it was registered 2 years before Bitcoin.

Is anyone stacking their units?? If so, what are you using as spacers between them?

The rubber feet each Jupiter has?

Is that going to be enough? the cases are pretty warm, i would like something that raised them up a little bit more.

How warm?
Mine are in a room, that is quite hot, yet the metal surface of the lid is slightly warm.
I don't think it would be a problem to stack them directly Wink

Not boiling hot, but a little bit warm. Thanks for the tip, I need to do something about them, my basement is a mess!

So just write the image to the SD card, pop it in and power it on.  The unit just knows to boot off the card not internal memory automatically?

wait this an october image, no?

D&T you do have a November jup, right?

Correct.  If the issue is that the BBB is corrupting the internal memory for some reason (which given that settings are all trashed on reboot kinda makes sense) then this might work if there was a Nov img file available.  It at least would be worth trying as I have nothing to lose at this point.

I think your having the same issue as me. This is what I was told. I just woke up and have not tested it yet though.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/6yk2eu62lmna0dq/SD_image_0.99-E.zip

1) Copy the ZIP file to an SD card and unzip the content of the archive on to the micro SD card formatted with FAT file system.

2) Turn the miner off via the power supply off switch and disconnect from the wall.

3) Open the case of the miner.

4) Insert the micro SD with the recovery files on it in to the SD card slot on the controller board

Note: to insert the micro SD card into the slot it might be necessary to unplug the flat cables which connect the ASIC boards to the controller board.

5)   Reconnect the power supply and turn the power on.

6)   Please wait while internal MMC flash memory is reprogrammed there will be a sequence of LED as follows:

1,2,3,4 blue LEDs on the BeagleBone will turn on, then bright white LED inside the case turns on for several seconds and then the red + green LEDs on the control board are on this means that the programming is in progress. When only the green LED is on for 5 seconds this means that the recovery was successful then all LEDs should go off and it means that the procedure completed.

7) Turn the miner off again and disconnect from the wall.

Cool Eject the micro SD card from the controller board.

9) Plug in all the cables that were unplugged and ensure that they are secured.

10) Reconnect the power supply and power on. The miner should then start from the on-board MMC flash with the software revision 0.9.9-E

Nice! Did you get this info from KNC?

What size SD card would I need?

Thanks

Looking to buy a single rail 1200W PSU to run a KNCminer Jupiter.

Please PM me if you have one available to sell, preferably in the UK.

Thanks for the advice.
I gave it a go to no success, then powered it on with no boards attached and it detected the IP.. Weird!

When i then add the boards gradually it then freaks out and turns off.

Received my 4 Jupiter and 1 Saturn this morning.
I can't find the IP for one of the Jupiters. The green light is showing, but cant pick anything up on my router. Any tips?
switch off miner, wait 30 seconds or more and restart it.
reboot or power cycle your router.
try different network cable.

If the aforementioned hasn't worked for you, try popping off the cover and check that the network card inside is properly seated. I've found this to be the source of problems for more than a few others including one unit I resold that was working before shipment.

Cheers, where abouts is this located ?? Sorry, i am new to this.

Received my 4 Jupiter and 1 Saturn this morning.

So, so pleased.

Just about set them all up, just need to tidy everything up.

try these tips if you've haven't already:

switch off miner, wait 30 seconds or more and restart it.
reboot or power cycle your router.
try different network cable.

is the router showing LED on when network cable plugged in?

if you've got other devices connected to the router that aren't the miner's or your PC, then shut them down and try steps above again.

see what happens and post back results.

MEGA TIP: if all else fails, then try phoenix1969's voodoo dance trick  Grin joke  Cheesy

Thanks, I have tried everything and nothing Sad Is there anyway to reinstall the firmware via the Beagleboard on a November model?

I really think the metal shields inside the unit need to go. The beagleboard shouldn't get hot at all, I've run those things stuffed into little plastic enclosures in my car dashboard and never had one overheat. The shield in the back makes even less sense. Cyper, any update on what you are doing to manage temps?

Miner in between 2 open windows + Open case + side fan.

I'm currently building this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_F83SbHMyg
So when it is ready I will have to move all the units to it and do something about the overheating board.

Nice! You should sell these. I for one would buy.

Just got my shipping notification for my bonus units. Should be with me tomorrow/Monday I reckon.

"bonus unit" ?

Stuff i earned through the reseller system.

The deal is you sell 10 through your reseller account, once those 10 have shipped, you get yours.

My 3 bonus Jupiters and Saturns now have an order number and are showing as paid! Looks like they'll probably arrive at some point this week.  Cheesy

You surely mean 2018?  Grin

Had to double take for a second when I first saw that there was even a prototype, I thought John Titor had visited us!
