In crypto confidimus or in crypto speramus
Credimus means we believe

Classics geek here... Yes, the verb should be "confidere" = "to put faith/trust in". But "crypto" would be a third-declension noun and needs to be in the dative case. So it should be:

Cryptoni confidimus (Classical Latin)

If you want to be a bit closer to modern languages, you could use Medieval Latin, which would use "in" plus a noun in the ablative case:

In cryptone confidimus (Medieval Latin)

I do like "In crypto we believe" so "In cryptone credimus" would make sens ? Not sure I want to use it as a noun tho.

Hi,

I want to translate "In crypto we trust" to Latin.

I'm not trusting Google Translation, so I have to ask you if "In Crypto Credimus" make sens ?

Also I would like to know if you like it as a motto, or if you don't and why.

If you have any suggestion, go ahead, it will be really appreciated ! Smiley

Thanks guys !

426  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "In cryptography we trust" (yet another Bitcoin icon) on: January 04, 2014, 06:55:58 AM
Sorry to bring that from the grave.

But my question is directly related to the topic of this tread.

I would like to know if "In cryptography we trust" would be translated correctly to "In Crypto Credimus" in Latin.

I would also like to know if you think it's a good motto for Cryptocurrency in your opinion.

Thank you in advance for your inputs !

More on bitcoins.com

http://www.domaininvesting.com/story-behind-bitcoins-com-domain-name/

I believe the story goes that Satoshi gave bitcoin.org/com to Sirius or Theymos but it is all kept under privacy so it cannot be verified.

I just acquired bitcoin.me which I think is the next best alternative.  I have hired a professional ad agency to assist me with setting it up.  coming soon...

Out of curiosity, what will be the purpose of the site ?

The basic idea is "Bitcoin Me" is an introduction to new users who have not used Bitcoin and want to get started.

The overall strategy is to help decentralize some of things that are going on in Bitcoin.  Namely, a small group of people are controlling bitcoin.org/bitcointalk.org, and the Github repositories.  I think some of these people are irresponsible for a number of reasons and I think there is too much control centered around this small group.  Nobody involved with bitcointalk.org/bitcoin.org will have any say whatsoever and I purposely chose people outside of Bitcoin to work on the project so they have an objective view.  I view Bitcoin as a technical solution that can be used by anyone of any political persuasion or for any reason.  I do not agree with the people who have political motives, have attached themselves to Bitcoin, and claim that people who use Bitcoin agree with their political view.

That sound great !

Wish you luck in yor project ! Smiley

433  Economy / Economics / Re: volatility, can it really be overcome? on: December 27, 2013, 04:52:29 PM
I think it will get more stable when it will be more widespread. We are a really small percentage of the global population that have bitcoins. When more people will have some, I do believe that the price will stabilize. Can't be sure tho, it's just my thought.
434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thank you, Bitcoin! on: December 27, 2013, 04:48:59 PM
Made over $46,000 so far. How I missed out on opportunities like this for so long is just hilarious.

Obtaining BTC has changed the way I look at business. Special thanks go to the insular community - make a "good name", pull a few jobs, repeat. God, I love you people.

That's a good return on investment ! Happy for you ! Smiley

436  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Casascius coins lose its BTC value as prices increase? on: December 24, 2013, 03:52:29 AM
Casascius coins have always had a pretty hefty premium above its sticker price.  1 BTC coin roughly went for around 1.3-1.4 btc each.

Its funny you ask that, because the dude selling physical litecoins has more than a double-value markup.  I always thought Casascius marked up his items pretty fairly since he was selling them basically "at cost" (value of the load on the bitcoin).  The Litecoin dude is just raping people to death for profit.

-B-
Lealana price is high but the quality is high also, with the presentation box, the high quality hologram, the fact they are fine silver .999, the price to make the die for minting the coins. All in all if you add up all those cost, it's not that bad of a price.
437  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Casascius coins lose its BTC value as prices increase? on: December 24, 2013, 03:49:30 AM
Casascius coins have always had a pretty hefty premium above its sticker price. Do you guys think the premium will drop as the price per bitcoin with USD increases?

1 BTC coin roughly went for around 1.3-1.4 btc each. Once bitcoin reaches 5k+ will people really be willing to pay 1500-$2000 additional for the coin? Or do you think 1BTC coins will drop in value to something like 1.05BTC etc?

If the latter is true, wouldn't it be best to exchange/sell casascius coins if you are long term holder? Especially if you own larger coins like 10BTC/25BTC versions.

I think it will adjust as Bitcoin get higher, it can't always be 25% to 50% premium. The fact that Casascius stopped selling them (For now) may make them worth more tho.

Everything is possible nowadays Cheesy

True ! Tongue

No.  It is not possible to create or destroy energy.  It is not possible to survive naked in space.  It is not possible for one person to eat the entire world's supply of chocolate.

...

And apparently, it's not possible to read the bitcoin forums without drowning in hyperbole.

LOL, yeah, I retract, you are right ! Tongue
439  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best encryption for wallet.dat storage and backup? on: December 23, 2013, 01:21:02 AM
I would like to encrypt my wallet.dat file on my PC and flash drive, etc.  What is the best encryption to use for it?  I have PGP Desktop Encryption and know about TrueCrypt as well.  I guess I could use both of these together or are there other ideas.  Thanks.

(And I am not considering a paper wallet, so please don't go off on a tangent about those.)

Out of curiosity, why don't you go with cold storage options ?
