421  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cloudthink's New Imperator 8TH bitcoin miner. on: August 03, 2015, 04:36:48 PM
Applied for a review unit. Lets see. Any pics of what's inside the unit?

I dont think anything has been released yet on the hardware
422  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CloudThink NEW 8TH/s Imperator Bitcoin Miner - Apply for a FREE test unit on: August 03, 2015, 04:27:24 PM
I've also been selected to write a review of the unit.  I'll be running it in a controlled temp server room, so I dont see any issues with the heat.  but we'll see when the unit comes how they've engineered it to dissipate.

we need philipma to get in on this also, if a handful of us trusted members receive test units that would surely dispel some of the skepticism surrounding this thing
423  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cloudthink's New Imperator 8TH bitcoin miner. on: August 03, 2015, 04:20:57 PM
I've also applied, hopefully I'll be selected

edit:  looks like Prelude and I will both be giving some detailed reviews on this Imperator!

It seems like a good value for an 8TH unit

426  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [BitAffNet] How we're the #1 Bitcoin Mining Pool In The World (or so we thought) on: July 30, 2015, 08:33:09 PM
I ran my gear on this pool when they first started til shortly after their s3 giveaways (which some say were staged)

to me they were great while I was here, they constantly paid more than avg and any issues were promptly resolved.  any discrepancies in pay and sobr was quick to fix the issues and even pay extra on top of what was owed.  I know there were a couple times when they paid me more than what I should have received as a way to apologize or be nice about their downtime.

I think their biz model just got the best of them, I honestly dont think they were shady, just got caught up trying to overpay people to stick around and be a top pool
427  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: OMG, Butterfly Labs refunded me and I made ROI!! on: July 30, 2015, 08:26:46 PM
Wow this is pretty good news, I'd hate to think its random and want to believe the refunds will be showing up more and more to other people

431  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain Antminer S6 and S7 Speculation on: July 27, 2015, 05:42:31 AM
There wont be an S6. They jump to the S7and we are around 2 month before launch.
Thats what they told me.

They are selling used S5 miners right now (I assume from their own mines). Naturally, they are probably replacing those miners with new (S7), otherwise why bother.
In two months they might start sales, but I have no doubt that during these two months they will be delivering from factory to themselves and mining with unannounced New miners-that 80PH jump in hashing speed very nicely coincided with used S5 sales announcement-don't you think?.
After 1-2 mo, they will sell to us, probably a mixture of brand new and from their mine.

That's a pretty good assumption, however I think in 1-2 months they won't be selling mixture, it'll all be used and the new gear they rotate out to their personal farm to "test" for later batches
432  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: new to mining, what hardware do i need on: July 27, 2015, 05:39:58 AM
I think your best bet is to find a cheap S3 around $80 and start mining with that.  It's a lot more profitable than a usb stick miner.

If you are set on a stick miner than sidehack has a really good device coming out you can grab and mess around with
433  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S5 - HW Errors and ASIC (x)'s on: July 24, 2015, 08:12:11 PM
so you have two cables coming from PSU that have 2 PCIE connectors on the end of each cable?

if you have more, try to plug all 4 PCIE connectors with individual cables, reboot the s5 by power cycling your PSU and let us know how it goes
434  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How to mine over Network Cable with S1? on: July 24, 2015, 08:06:38 PM
plug a network cable into your laptop and straight into the s1

set your laptops network ipv4 to a 192.168.1.59 or similar IP

log into the s1 via 192.168.1.99 (i think that was default)

set your S1 to DHCP on WAN and LAN under the network tab

unplug the network cable from your laptop and into the router

reboot the s1

change laptops network ipv4 setting back to DHCP

log into your home router and find 'antminer' and see what the IP is

log into that IP and config your pools

done Smiley
435  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BUYING hardware from hashnest on: July 24, 2015, 08:00:45 PM
It sucks if you're in US, it's 50$ per miner as a handling fee on their end and then to ship it around 50$ again, so 100$ after unprofitable on their end. Seems like it is a big screwy thing since they tacked on the 50$ handling fee.

at that point, with the fees and unprofitable-ness, people would likely only take advantage of the shipping of they either had free power or just for nostalgia purpose.
436  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: S2 still profiatble after BTC halving? on: July 24, 2015, 07:52:01 PM
I think as long as diff keeps rising the same % the S2 would be profitable under very rare circumstances (cheap or free power) unless Bitmain comes out with an upgrade path like they said they would initially.
437  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTT] My Ant S5 for your SP10 on: July 24, 2015, 06:21:43 AM
Just want to see if anyone has an SP10 they want to swap for better efficiency?

My S5 works flawlessly, I'd just rather have the higher GH as my power situation is free and I'd rather have the 1U rackable unit
438  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: LKETC 5T 1000W is it real? on: July 21, 2015, 02:58:08 PM
Most miners even from the start were overpriced but thats what you had to pay to have the newest thing.  Some of it payed off some of it not.  Only just recently did we see hardware affordable enough for most.
The only real question is if they will sell to the public or is it another large buy in.

The dragon 1T i got from them ran forever.   I must have ran it a year before I finally sold it.  Still have a 1.5 T dragon.

They build solid machines.   Were just waiting on chips.

Yeah the dragon was super solid.  Was even a major player is the big china farms until more efficient gear came out.  I bet there are still a ton of dragon's that are still functional sitting around in a heap somewhere collecting dust
439  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: S4 Hardware Mod Bounty on: July 21, 2015, 02:47:57 PM
yeah 580w for 1t on the s4 would be pushing it
440  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Quick question please answer, if any one knows on: July 21, 2015, 02:46:20 PM
Haven't seen a S5 under $420ish WITH shipping for almost a month now, since BitMain started jacking up the price on new ones in responce to the BTC price runup

For that matter, they're getting thin PERIOD on eBay, and haven't seen ANY on Amazon since I bought out all the cheap ones early this month (except some new ones at even more than BitMain prices).

like i said you should look more in the market place, there are good deals some times, i saw one guy selling at 300 1-2 months ago, so if you keep looking you will eventually find someone

With the constant raises Bitmain did it raised the price of old gear.  It may seem weird that older gear went up in value.... but bitmain caused this on S5's.

You won't get one for 420ish with shipping.   Only way is if you find a local one and don't need shipping since local pickup.

Yeah local or he could get lucky on ebay, most of the ebay prices are severly inflated occationally you can find good deals.  last week I picked up an S5 for 300 shipped (seller accepted my best offer)

So it is definitely possible.

OP - If you are still looking, others have mentioned the S3 is your best gh/$... however.. they will be noticeable if you sit them on your desk, you'll need to underclock them and keep them under your desk.  unless noise is of no concern
