how does the network know my wallet address? (qt)
roughly the same way bitcoin does. it doesn't. coins are sent to addresses with no verification that they can be spent. See 1BitcoinEaterAddressDontSendf59kuE. Spending involves proving that you have a key which is allowed to spend that address. Since addresses are generated from keys via one way function, it's practically impossible to spend an address unless that address was in fact generated from a key you already possess. sorry - my question was not clear. i mean when i start mining in the QT debug console, it starts to mine, but i dont even have a wallet address yet. If it's anything like core Bitcoin client, then you already have 100 keys by default. You can just start mining directly in console, it automatically credits to an address in your wallet. thank you. in that case, if i successfully solve a block, then i would see an incoming transaction and a a positive balance? nevermind, looks like its working! i see transactions coming in!

@Primitive Go Help, Debug, type 'setgenerate true -1'
thanks! that seems to be working (no errors). is there a way to monitor to see if there is actually anything happening? also do i need to have created an address first or any other steps?

can mining be started via the QT GUI?

|

i think im just going to have to buy on an exchange lol. as much as i'd like to help support the network.

im making some progress! Keep in mind you're using cryptonited, you should download cryptonite-qt if you want to use the GUI. im unable to get QT running, but at least i have cryptonited up appears that mining is also working. however, currently i am getting Bans

what is downloaded is called win64_cryptonited_14072614.exe. its on my desktop. I also have some content that was created in /Roaming/Cryptonite (presumably when i ran the .exe?)

what is clearing house, cant find a good description on it are you familiar with Counterparty? www.counterparty.co. they are building on top of the Bitcoin blockchain. but the Bitcoin blockchain was not designed for applications that piggy back on it. the Bitcoin blockchain suffers from bloat and slow block times. Clearing House will run on top of the VIA blockchain, which has architecture specifically designed to provide support for it. devs can provide better answer but that's super broad strokes.

you have to run with -testnet switch. either by running command line or setting up a shortcut
where does cryptonited live on Windows?

how many total BTC were sold during phase 1?
465 BTC was sold during the early bird phase. with zero rollover across the deadline into phase 2? seems remarkable that the cap would have been hit so exactly. perhaps i misunderstand the timing / mechanics of the phase one cap.

is there any hope for someone non-technical to mine this coin?
I think you should be able to manage. I'm assuming you've mined other coins before? The M7 is a new algo but it shouldn't be that hard for you to set up your CPU to mine XCN. Maybe the dev or someone else could include a mining guide for newbies in the wiki at some point i have only a very small amount of experience. but i have time to set up, test etc. also, since XCN is cpu, doesn that mean it is vulnerable to botnets? (which also will make it harder for a regular guy just mining with a cpu?) i like this coin, but i think i probably will just have to buy from miners at high $$
