421  Economy / Speculation / Re: Tom Lee, from bitcoin bull to bitcoin bagholder on: October 03, 2018, 05:34:20 PM
~
In any case, in that situation if bitcoin has stablized, I reckon that there would be more dumping and/or more speculation in altcoins.

i think you meant more "pump and" dump in altcoins because so far it has always been like this. when bitcoin price stabilizes (even for a short period of time) the traders start looking elsewhere to make profit since it becomes hard to make profit in bitcoin that is moving 1% up and down. so this migration starts some pump and dumps in altcoins.
this is also the reason why altcoins are always dumped when bitcoin starts some sort of movement up or down. traders dump altcoins to come back to bitcoin.
Yeah, and most especially looking for a market that has already bottomed out to start their new round of speculation anyway and then we just see the same rinse and repeat process over and over again, from  btc to alt and back to btc. This is the reason why until we start seeing real life adoption and usage, speculation will simply always be the norm of the day and there is nothing we can do about it.

As far as I am concerned, altcoins are just simply there for that P&D purpose which larger traders and the smart small traders have only be using to increase their stash, which is why I have always believed altcoins to just be a distraction.
422  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you have to make big investment before you can make profit in crypto? on: October 03, 2018, 10:29:35 AM
I have seen quite a number of topics here where people have been selling or asking for advice whether to sell their properties to invest them in bitcoin. Am surprised some people forget that crypto investment is not always a win affairs. You either lose or win. You can as well make profit in crypto with small capital if only you have the patience to hold and wait for the time when the market is booming. Do not be a greedy investor. Always invest with an amount you can afford to lose. Have a nice day.
I agree with you

The virtual currency is still unstable elements are large.
Because the system such as limit down and limit up is not in place, it is possible that it will become as good as worthless at a stroke.
Investment participants are few, and volatility is large. Price may fluctuate at a stretch due to large orders etc. In the long run, the price rises to the right, but it is said that the probability of losing in the short term is large.

If  make an investment of an amount that is too big , it often becomes impossible to make calm judgments.
"Managing funds" "Managing risk" "Controlling emotions" If you can not do these three, investment will likely be more likely to fail
Even if it is stable, it is still a normal thing for any investor to never go all in on a single investment as that can jeopardize a lot if things should go wrong and it is not even a right move at all for any experienced and smart investor. Volatility is just one part of the market, and then we have the idea that it is still young, and even though there is a lot of promise in the future, nothing is certainly guaranteed and the best thing to ever do is to at least try as much as possible to put in only what you know you can afford to lose even though you know this is something worth taking a risk on.
423  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hodl or sell right now ? on: October 02, 2018, 08:40:35 PM
For now there is no reason to sell, why would you sell when the price is stagnant and looks so close to dip prices.

If you sell right now you will miss out on the next bull run coming. Best case scenario the price will go high crazy like people kept saying to 25k-50k or whatever fairy price stuff they made up or worse case it will go to 7.2k which is still decent considering thats almost %10 increase in price. In usa the interest rate is like what %0.5 or something ?

Insanely low, however you make %10 with this. So I think it would be wise to hold or even buy more at this price so selling would be silly.
424  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Main reason behind crypto currencies red market in 2018 on: October 01, 2018, 10:40:51 AM
For real cryptocurrency activity has great potential for great development, no need to put a cross, to carefully consider their choice in your investment portfolio.
When considering an investment, I want to believe it is just a normal thing to focus on the long term. Even if I start a business today, it will take time to even start gaining ground, expanding and getting something substantial from it.

But in any case, the rate at which people get greedy these days and are looking for a way to get rich is the reason why they do not even know how to be patient enough even when there is a red market and to even know they should be taking advantage of it. Well, like I always say, not everyone can be smart.
425  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Increased Number of Scammers on: October 01, 2018, 08:03:02 AM
Due to the increased popularity of cryptocurrencies, there has been an increased number of scammers both in terms of ICOs and in social media. You would find "official" representatives that would "propose lucrative deals" in the name of the legit company. There is only one result as a consequence - you losing your assets.
Thus, always keep in mind that real official channels of communications work. Also, if you see those posts in social media promising returns without a legit background (a.k.a. a full-blown platform) is a sure way to lose money. Creating bots on Facebook, Twitter, and Telegram is quite easy these days. Make sure not to repeat mistakes that others made before you https://www.cryptocointrade.com/
Not to mention mining pools and app scams going on right now. Some of the Facebook groups that were excellent in terms of trading discussions now turned into scam marketing sites.

No suprises for this one since we all know cryptocurrency are been popular all over the world so expect a huge number of scammer that waiting to scam people that new in this cryptoworld thats why you need to be careful in any situation dont trust people that offering a fastest way to earn money.
Cryptocurrency is getting people, more gullible and ignorant people about security who are not ready to really learn are entering the market, and it is more like the schemers seeing a potential market for their scams and fraudulent activities.

There have always been scammers since inception and it is not something new at all. before internet, we have seen people being duped for one reasons or the other out of greed most times, and then internet came, and scamming goes digital and now that we are getting to have digital money, it even makes it so easy to target the gullible and greedy ones most of the time.
426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will ripple cross $5 this year ? on: September 29, 2018, 01:34:57 PM
Based on the current market conditions, the possibility of XRP crossing five dollars this year is very small. Although the possibility is small, there is nothing impossible in the crypto market.
Highest I feel we might reach is to go test the previous ATH around $3 and that would still be some pretty good one anyway, if we get to see it happen.

For now, I would not want to bank on seeing more than that. However, like you said, even the impossible has happened in this market several times and we cannot simply say there could not be a possibility, but however it is, I want to believe that it is better not to get too greedy expecting the most, when the market generally can quickly take the bad shape and better to always get out when you still can.

If it goes to $5, we will slightly experience a short term correction after hitting the previous ATH and then a continuation, so there will still always be room to get in on little if that becomes a reality.
427  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Futures on: September 29, 2018, 12:41:23 PM
Keeping in mind the SECs verdict due in a couple of days, I really wish to understand how Bitcoin Futures stand to assuage any negative impact from the SECs decision.

Quoted from the article-

Quote
The physical crypto futures is designed to attract investment from institutional investors, who have so far stayed away from the market. Bakkt, notwithstanding, promises a “regulated ecosystem” where investors can invest in cryptocurrency product.

The thing is that I would not expect so much to happen regardless of whatever the outcome would end up being. So far, they already made an announcement to move the date forward, so I still believe whatever it is, the market is still acting pretty good the way it wants to act even after the news.

Before we would be able to get any final decision, I would say we will wait for next year, as I do not expect anything serious at all this year. Based on the institutions staying out, they may not be that much yet, or some may still be skeptical, but believe me, institutions have always been present in this space.
428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BER MONTHS, still legit? on: September 28, 2018, 12:46:50 PM
Actually the 1st week of this month was strong wherein I thought that what they call "ghost month" (August)  is totally over however it seems like the market is still bleeding. I still believe that the bull run will start in Q4 (fingers crossed) but there's also a chance that bearish market will continue until EOY (I hope not).
The market is not bleeding and obviously by now everyone should have seen the market is trying to gear up for another bullish momentum as the case may be, but that is left for those who can really see it.

Normally, for this month, we have seen some sideways movement and consolidation across board with the bulls trying to make some statement and then before you know it, we will start seeing participation and once again FOMO. You should not expect that the market should just start moving up all of a sudden as things don't happen like that. We are still in Q4 and it has not ended yet, but from the look of things, there is still hope to see some good movement.
429  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will touch 20K USD end of 2018. What you think ? on: September 28, 2018, 12:04:23 PM
That's still possible if we set last year as an example of what is happening now. Bitcoin is also down last September and it starts to rise again in October until December where it recorded its all time high. But no matter what's gonna be the price of bitcoin this year, i am not giving more attention to it because i am holding my portfolio including bitcoin for a long term.
Setting last year as an example is actually the first mistake you are going to be making here. Last year, was a bull year throughout and we are having exactly the opposite this year. Now, in case like this when the market tend to move downwards faster, as long as the bears are still in play, it is always very easy to see things go quickly downwards that upwards.

See it like you have really gone down the ditch and now you have to face some obstacles on your way up, it would only take a miracle to get the market to fly the way you want in this scenario, because, technically, it would take time before we start seeing any serious move.
430  Economy / Economics / Re: what are the causes of the continuous plunge in Bitcoin? on: September 25, 2018, 11:55:21 AM
there are so many causes of falling bitcoin prices, I think those who managed to buy bitcoin at low prices and sell them at high prices and hackers who managed to steal bitcoin on bitcoin mining sites and cryptocurrency markets
There could be any reason at all, but nothing changes the fact that no one knows. It is a market, there will always be fluctuations between supply and demand and as long as one is greater than the other, market will always shift towards the ones with the larger levels.

There is no much real demand for bitcoin at this stage and let's face it, whatever happened in the past with all the skyrocketing of prices, are all just plain manipulations, and a way for some whales to just cash out real big. What we are seeing now is just the corrective effect of it.
431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: cheap coin nubits (NBT) on: September 22, 2018, 09:52:44 AM
what's happening now in the market, the NBT is down, is there a chance to rise in price?
I have always use Nubit as a very good means of holding some little stash and getting some pretty good increase in a short period of time. The whole market is down generally and NBT has been consolidating for a while now, which makes it look like a very good period for any smart individual to be taking advantage of buying the dips now.

It has potential, but we all know that altcoins are more like a short term thing. As long as it is a good project, then you really should have nothing to worry about.
432  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: what kind of news or information effect THE PRICE OF COINE on: September 22, 2018, 07:36:14 AM
Hacking example when there's a news that binance got hacked the bitcoin price would go down. Hype news also effects the price Ex. the HOT last week it's been hype by news so the price pumps.
Most times, I have always had this feeling that there are just some people somewhere who certainly want you to believe that news can be driving the market. Sure, there is no doubt that news is one major and necessary part of the market fundamentals, but I have seen how news have acted in the previous months, especially positive news not being so effective based on the current nature of the market. Nevertheless, there are so many complexities to this market movement than just news.
433  Economy / Speculation / Re: We're all Schrödinger's cats in the short term on: September 17, 2018, 11:07:19 AM
We won't know where the price will be at any given time until we check it!

or maybe we're Schrodinger's investors.

I'm not saying I don't believe in the fundamentals, I believe there is a huge future for bitcoin, but we don't truly know what the future may hold. Past performance not indicating future outcomes and what not.

This is one applicable thing in any market and for what it is worth, even though the future is bright, the fact remains that anything that happens in between now and the future is not certain and all that would end up happening between this period will certainly affect the future in some way.

We are just like a puppet directed in the way the market tends to at this stage, as nothing is certain for anyone. All we can do at any point in time is to blend with the trend as much as we can.
434  Economy / Speculation / Re: How do you think Bitcoin & Crypto would look like in 10 years? on: September 15, 2018, 09:50:10 AM
I see a lot of people claims that crypto is the currency of the future and in few years the value of one BTC would be around 70-100k
How do you think this industry will evolve in the future and what would really happen?

Remember the date, 10 years from now we can come back and see if we right XD

Is there really any point trying to see what the price would be in ten years. Probably since we have been able to see some huge increase over the years and let's just say we are able to get as high as this over the years within a short period of less than 10 years, then I would say within the range of $100k is quite realistic enough in 10 years.

The market could go more than that, we might get to start testing a higher low in a longer time frame as a good support, but however it is going to be, time will absolutely tell.
435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why Altcoin prices often follow Bitcoin price on: September 14, 2018, 05:30:33 PM
Do they really? I often encounter this statement. And i have no idea as to why. This past few days, bitcoin is on the rise and most certainly than not altcoin's price surely follows. I am not saying this is bad but altcoins have very little in common with bitcoin. And they are certainly not carbon copies of bitcoin either. Why the heck is their price so closely connected despite being so fundamentally different?
Yes, they follow the flow of bitcoin even in the market. I think because of coin are pair with the bitcoin so they depends in bitcoin price.
Not every time as there could still be some exceptions somehow. At least, we have seen a lot of altcoins resisting such movements in the case where bitcoin is not bringing a favorable condition for them. For instance, doge really gave a huge push recently, despite the market tending to move down hugely but still tried to test the previous high few months back. Generally though, we all know that altcoins are just some sort of distraction from the real deal and as long as they will keep being there, they will certainly be tied to the movement of bitcoin.
436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best undervalued coins for 2018 on: September 12, 2018, 12:55:37 PM
There are many coins that are now undervalued because most of them are down 70% to 90% from there all time high. You can pick on the coins under the top 50 of the coinmarketcap. But my personal choice I would prefer, NEO, ADA , Stellar (XLM) and Pundi (NPXS) to name a few.
A whole lot of them are undervalued and seems like a very good time to be picking some of them when the chances are still available now before a recovery starts which I feel would happen soon.

Picking from the top 50 still does not mean one should not do some due diligence though, since a lot of them are based on their market cap value which I believe some may not have been worth it anyway. However, you have some few personal choices which I also believe would be a good catch for the long run for those who are smart enough.
437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A good investment option? ICO's pitched on a PRODUCT, not a White Paper on: September 11, 2018, 01:23:45 PM
Your opinion is not 100% correct, ICO with working product does not mean it'll become success, some project raised a lot of fund without working product, how do you explain this situation? Whitepaper just a way to let investor know more about the project, 2018 not a good year for ICO, anyway I still believe lCO investments
This is not about the success, it is about at least investing in something you can see which as far as I am concerned, a whitepaper without a product is far worse than a project with both unless we want to lie to ourselves. Like you said, whitepaper is just a way to give you the idea of what the project is practically based on and make you understand the product.

However, in the absence of a product, you will only be investing in empty promises, and the last time I checked, I thought investors are already smart enough to know that investing in empty promises is like taking a huge risk.
438  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Careful with Social Media Tips on: September 11, 2018, 12:52:20 PM
Social media are the things we should not believe the most. The news is uncertain and sometimes it does not affect our portfolio too much. We should not listen to the words of journalists say, we have to design their own strategies to play with the market. That's the best way.
The thing with social media is that it gives room for certainly every single person and animal to do and say whatever they like as long as they derive benefit from it or NOT. So many people do certain things for different reasons, and for some, it is usually to just find a way to increase their followers at the detriment of those following them, or even at times, feeding on them by calling crazy tips for their benefit.

There is nothing as good as having the knowledge and practicing to get better on your own, and for those who are too lazy to do so, they will keep being a victim to these social media tips.
439  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN towards 24000 USD!!! on: September 10, 2018, 10:00:16 AM
Iran has recently announced that they will begin to treat cryptocurrency mining as an industry. This comes after increased pressure on the country enforced by changing economic sanctions imposed by the United States. Amidst this bullish news, the price of Bitcoin BTC was reportedly around $24000 [converted] on some Iranian exchanges.
Good days are coming.
Good days are coming indeed and for what it is worth, at least we can get to see people realizing that a decentralized market is actually a safe haven to storing their funds which would even preach the news to the whole world. At first, it all started with Zimbabwe, even though their government is trying to prove a hard one, and now we have Iran embracing it and seeing it as a way to relax their economic situation. Good thing for them!
440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can Cardano Price Reach $ 10 in 5 Years? on: September 10, 2018, 07:59:30 AM
ADA is a really promising coin and has a brilliant future for me. I am holding few ADA and will not sell until it hits 10$. But also i think it can go over 10$ in 5 years too.

As for me, I would not be so much optimistic. ADA is a very cool cryptocurrency but it is too cheap now. How can it reach $10 so fast? Maybe, it will happen a bit later.
It is the crypto market, so I would not say nothing is impossible. It might not be this year, but we have surely seen projects that have done far more than ADA reaching $10 in a very short little space and time.

We all know how FOMO is one thing in this market that can really cause the price of a cryptocurrency to surge than you would even expect. Like you said, ADA is one coin with a very great team, which I believe over time and within a short period, is capable of attaining such heights.
