5850 should run stable with a 900MHz gpu clock, providing ~375-380mh.

Is your computer a laptop of desktop? If it is a desktop, given your hashrate/s, I would assume you have a Radeon HD 6670 card? If you are mining with an nVidia card, you should stop, as it's costing you more in electricity than it would if you just bought the coins outright from an exchange. If it's a laptop, I wouldn't advise mining due to heat related issues; you don't want to kill your laptop due to overheating.

If both cards are reference, there are very few differences between them. If I had to pick one, I would probably choose the Sapphire model. Why? Sapphire has more experience with making ATI/AMD cards. Also, Asus has been known to alter card circuitry locking in voltage settings, causing problems for hardcore overclockers. Go with Sapphire, they've been making Radeon cards since, well, Radeon existed as a 32MB AGP card circa 1999. Go with the ~13 years of experience, IMO.

There is no way to confirm a user's age over the Bitcoin network. Just make sure you have a "yes/no" button option where the end-user is forced to click yes before downloading the file(s). The question to the "yes/no" being "are you legally allowed to be subjected to adult content in your country of residence?" or something along those lines. PS/edit: Be sure to advertise your services here once you're all set up, you have a huge market for obvious reasons

A Bitcoin Union makes more sense. Unions are founded in an attempt to keep corporate entities in check. The Foundation appointed themselves, they were not nominated by the majority, even though they suggest some kind of political structure to their Foundation. Instead, we got an announcement about an announcement, which is almost laughable. Is there room for impeachment in the bylaws? If not, there should be. Anything short of total transparency on behalf of the Foundation would be grounds for it, IMHO. Keeping the majority "out of the loop" breeds distrust. Distrust breeds fear. Fear, when instilled in the majority of a community, breeds a moral-driven will against tyranny. If Bitcoin should ever succeed, trust is essential. I for one doubt that the Foundation can be trusted.
Oh, and who would I appoint to this Union...? Anyone whom the majority of the community believes should be there. The Bitcoin Foundation "tax" of 2.5 Bitcoins for annual membership seems unreasonable, because they do not reasonably represent the majority.

I'll take a D bust redhead from Ireland/Scotland for BTC. Make it happen.

I doubt any dispensary would accept BTC unless it were somehow taxed. Taxes are the only reason dispensaries are still open, and don't get raided by the feds every 2 seconds.

The "Foundation" has been met with so much skepticism since the announcement of its conception. I believe the reason for this is simply that the community as a whole was not made aware of its existence until it had already become a full blown entity, complete with boards members and so on. I believe the community would've had a much more positive outlook on the whole thing if Gavin had come outright with the idea as a proposal. What we got instead was a vague announcement about an announcement(lol?), and many of the people in this community feel like Gavin and others went behind the backs of the majority. Those who would automatically assume that it aims the community towards centralization are going to believe so with good reason, albeit for the wrong reasons. The "Foundation" is a double edged sword, in that while you give the press and general media a face to attach the word "Bitcoin" to, you also paint a bullseye target on the whole "experiment". You have provided Luke Skywalker with the air duct needed to blow up the Deathstar.

I know a few retailers/merchants who were considering using Bitcoin. They've backed out since the "foundation" was announced. Sad.

850w should be fine for powering a 7770, 6990, quad-core CPU, mechanical hard drive, and you should still have some wattage to spare. One of my rigs is an i7-920 130W cpu, 6950 2gb with unlocked shaders, and a 5830. Running perfectly fine on a Corsair 750w 80+ bronze PSU for over a year now.

Gambling is often regarded as a horrible addiction, similar to that of alcoholism.
But of course that only goes for the guy who's lost a bunch. They don't say that about the people who win.
I guess mainly because the people who "win" are the ones who end up with more than they started with, and knew when to quit?
So... know when to quit.

I'll ask yet again. Who is Peter Vessenes and why does he get to represent the Bitcoin community? Was Gavin instructed by the CIA to make this "foundation"?
I'll give it 4-5 years tops before Gavin finds himself on the wrong end of a .50 cal dragonov's crosshairs, unless he's working with/for "the man" now.

localbitcoins.com may be your salvation for this venture if you intend to sustain yourself using nothing but bitcoins. Maybe make a map of reputable local exchanges that'd be willing to help you out on your journey? Kinda like plotting a route on a map. Having global users who are willing to trade in BTC will make or break the trip. Most people who use BTC are good and friendly people, here's to hoping you have couches to crash on throughout the duration.
Good luck!

Gavin has been replaced by a CIA look-a-like.
Not really, but what would stop the CIA from doing this?
The problem with "putting a face" on Bitcoin..? it's like painting a bullseye on your face and saying "hey, I'm here, shoot me".

Who the fuck is Peter Vessenes and what gives him the right to represent this community/economy?
|
|

Most people were waiting anxiously for the September announcement regarding Bitcoin thinking it'd be a good thing. Sucks that it isn't. Who wants to bet that this is the result of Gavin meeting up with the CIA and discussing it with them? Who the fuck is Peter Vessenes and why is he the CEO? What makes him qualified to represent the bitcoin community(nobody should have this ability save for Nakamoto him/her self)? I don't see Peter Vessenes on these forums. I'm glad I haven't implemented the 0.7 official client. My trust in the core development team is rapidly diminishing.

Typically temps that get into 90C+ range will cause the card to throttle; it'll continue mining but hashrate will drop to about half every few seconds. Since your 6990 isn't being used to drive any displays, you should lower the memory clocks of those cores. Like 400MHz memory clocks at the most, as low as is stable pretty much. This will reduce heat/electricity use. I use 5830's mainly, 950MHz GPU clock and 325MHz memory clock. Also, fan is only at 30% in that screenshot? Run your fan at like 75%. It'll be loud, but it'll save your card from fiery death.

A core foundation like this would only take away from the decentralized attractiveness of the network as a whole. Fuck paying for membership. Membership should be open to anybody who actively participates in the project via mining, developing, or even simply sending and receiving coins. Gavin and other core developers will be paid for the hard work they do to ensure a reasonably stable system for everyone in the community to use; this is the only part I agree with.
Do not exclude the lifeblood(community) of the network from making decisions which directly affect the network.

Mine through the winter since GPUs will serve a 2nd purpose(space warmers) which is what made it so cool to begin with(gaming). When 2013 begins to warm up, I'll stop. Possibly buy an ASIC if production at that point doesn't require a multiple month waiting period for delivery.
