421  Economy / Economics / Re: My survival strategies in this harsh economic conditions on: March 05, 2023, 08:16:52 AM
You forget to add/ or have you considered doing side jobs for extra income.  Investment is a good thing but it will take some time to yield profit, a regular one takes years so what would we do to meet our daily needs if our main job is enough for bills and basic needs.  Finding a side job plays an important role to meet our plans and ease out the situation especially if we plan to have savings for investment.
We could add this but it wont work on us all meaning other people tend have hard time finding side jobs even if they want too like they don't posses those skills need or just they cant find one as most of those employers wants fulltime.

How could it not work when the purpose of looking for a side-job or other called it side-line is to increae the financial capability of a person?  I know others are having a hard time finding jobs or task that can give them extra money,  but still, it will be a great help if one can find one.

Also even though you have side jobs but still not enough then you need to follow those strategy by OP provided to save some money and that is the possibility that youll invest into something.

See in the scenario you are saying, it does not suffice even though a person has a side job, what more if he doesn't have it?  I don't think the importance of having an extra job or business as a source of extra money is debatable. In a situation where a family is lacking, it is one of the most important things aside from the strategies cited by @OP.  After all, the reason why @OP is doing those strategies is because of a shortage of finances, and having one or more sources of income will make the situation easier.  As I stated, investment is good but it takes time to profit, worst, when a person's budget is short, they might pull out the investment immaturely so having another source of funds to spend for the family is always better.
Personally, everyone has different circumstances and situation which they have to deal with. People like us who are on the lower spectrum of wages on the economy but has ambitions and want to change their situations needed to think for more conventional ways to earn extra income. We could always hear or see people telling us everyday that investment will be the foundation to have a better life, but as I've said people like us firstly needed to find ways to have an extra income before doing such moves.
422  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which company will be next to accept Bitcoin? on: March 04, 2023, 10:29:18 AM
There are infinite possibilities for bitcoin, same as the ones who will adopt it. It doesn't really matter to me which company adopts first, coz in the end lots of companies will follow the modern technology which includes cryptocurrency. Nowadays pepple are speculating what crypto needs to be adopted by various levels in economy, but I think as of now there is no exact answer since crypto as of now is on it's development stage.

424  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in Bitcoin by selling wife's jewelry on: March 03, 2023, 02:58:18 PM
I wholeheartedly agree with other people here saying, that it isn't a wise decision to sell your wife's belonging just to invest. We know how much volatile bitcoin can be, and although her property is considered yours too by law, it's not enough reason to sell an investment for another investment. I also have few friends' way back 2020-2021 who planned to sell their properties to invest in crypto (that time axie is very popular), and so I told them to make their own research first and if they don't understand something they can ask me or just google it away. That time also they are being tempted with their emotions. After several days of research and asking bunch of questions, they have decided to sell their property to invest in another NFT game (I forgot the name but it's something similar to axie), but I told them if they are really sure about their decision, and since they are still hesitating, it's enough answer for me that they are not yet ready to gamble. I may be not a financial adviser, but I advised them to just wait and don't let their emotions run through them, and if they have more questions, they'll have to seek professional counsel not me once they've decided. In the end the new project failed, and they didn't lose either their property or their money. The lesson is not to rush things if you are undecided and if ever the same thing comes into the future, it would be much better to earn a separate money to use for another investment.

And here I am having a hard time earning merits and trying to make my posts as good quality as possible. Cry I was just wondering how these kinds of people had such high merits and some scammers even have trusts on their accounts while people like me who are just doing things within the rules are sometimes having a hard time joining campaigns due to high requirements.

If you were more careful, you would see that this account has not earned a single merit in its entire history: https://bpip.org/smerit.aspx?to=farlack The account has 1000 merit due to the fact that they were given to him by airdrop, after the introduction of the merit system in 2018, the airdrop was accrued based on the rank that the user had in January 2018. farlack has been Legendary for quite some time now, so it received an airdrop of 1000 merits, which was in line with the new Legendary rank rules.
I didn't know that. Coz honestly, when the merit system was implemented I seldomly posted here due to being busy at school. I have only merited few people as far as I can remember. Although he has a high rank, I admire his tenacity claiming to be an admin hahaha. If that was me, I wouldn't waste my time doing such things but instead focus on joining campaigns, coz it's just a waste of account.

You should do research about merit because you want to get some if you want something you have to do research on what it is how it affects you and what it means to your status, checking your post you just got active a few months but since you are on a senior status you know where to look and how to look for it, you're lucky you got a senior account without going through merits requirements.
I just recently came back from a long period due to busy schedule on my classes. To be honest when I first came here I never really took it seriously or even focus on ranking up coz all I read from the past is to maintain a good quality of posts, and yes, it's true that I know what to do here to get merits or even trusts, but only know of all the times that I took it seriously. Just like before I only did it just to pass time while earning a little bit. My mind was wholly focused on finishing my education.
426  Economy / Economics / Re: How we survive food shortages on: March 03, 2023, 10:33:51 AM
I have a bit of land so I can grow my own food mostly during summer. Basically, I do not have to buy vegies unless I want something very specific or I feel too lazy to plant my own. Meat and eggs I can get them from my neighbour if I want to, albeit a bit expensive I rekon. Otherwise, food shortages require a good store in the good years, there is no other way round. Buy stuff when cheap and find a way to store it.
My personal reasons why I chose to grow my own vegetable is not due to the rise of prices, but because I can assure the quality of the plant that isn't sprayed, coz there was a time in my area where there're lots of people who're poisoned on eating crops they bought from the market. I know it sounds funny coz I could have advised them to wash their crops multiple times if possible before cooking or eating, but regardless it doesn't changed the fact that they were poisoned and even those who did the proper hygiene and clean them thoroughly suffers the same fate. We also didn't know the cause, while some are speculating it could be hugely related to how they store the harvests, that pushed me to plant my very own crops without usinh artificial fertilizers.
427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a Mainstream payment method on: March 02, 2023, 11:01:56 AM
As the title implies, we all know that, almost the whole world knows about the existence of bitcoin and cryptocurrency, the problem is although more and more people are becoming aware of it, there're still barriers preventing them on using crypto.

Do you think that's true? Well, half of the people in the world don't even have access to the Internet, and even if they heard about Bitcoin, how should they use it if they don't have the basics for it? The barriers you are talking about are primarily infrastructural, although of course there are also those mental barriers for most people who understand economics and finance only to the extent that they know what a bank card and a 4-digit PIN are for.

"What does BTCitcoin needed in order to become a mainstream payment system? "
---
I know some of you would say improvements of Security, Scalability, and User Experience, but aside from that, What is the most needed for BTCitcoin right now?

Forget any mainstream payment method in the sense that you will be able to pay with Bitcoin in every store and for every service, because that will probably never be achievable, especially in countries that strictly control their financial system, and besides, they are among the most populous countries in the world. Bitcoin will always be an alternative, and by no means some kind of coercion that should be imposed by any state or individual.
You mean half of the world doesn't have proper access to internet? It's true that there're people who chose to rely on the traditional system we already have and it is also their choice to believe or use what they want as long as it benefits them. I do get your point coz personally the main reason for me  why it's never unachievable is because of its volatility. That reason alone is enough for people to be hesitant/against on using or implementing it as a mainstream payment system.

As the title implies, we all know that, almost the whole world knows about the existence of bitcoin and cryptocurrency, the problem is although more and more people are becoming aware of it, there're still barriers preventing them on using crypto. I have been into this social app called MEEFF(recommended by a friend of mine), and some of the people there dislike the idea of bitcoin and crypto. So, I was wondering why, but didn't bother to ask them since it's their own preference, and so it cross into my mind that "What does BTCitcoin needed in order to become a mainstream payment system? "

431  Economy / Economics / Re: Is renting an inevitable waste of money? on: March 02, 2023, 05:27:53 AM
If there is no other choice, then we are obliged to rent housing. Sometimes I think that maybe it's for the better, things have changed a lot in the last year and I've seen a lot of people have to leave their homes and move to other cities where they rent housing. If I have not spent the money to buy a home, then I will have reserves that will allow me to rent a home for a long time. For now, this is the best option for me, it may change in the future, but for now I will only rent an apartment.
Here in our country there's a rent to own condos that you can try if you want to have property but you only have a certain amount. Renting is not really an expense if that rent will be beneficial for your work and source of income as well as for your peace of mind then why not right? I am renting in a small apartment last year because I need to protect my peace of mind, but this year I went back home but next time if I will rent again it could be a rent to own that time.
Here in my country too, we have a similar running business that is what you called rent to own condos or properties. Personally, I think that depends on person's situation coz there are also times that renting is beneficial if you and your family is working very far from your home, then you could actually choose to rent, just like our family's situation now. It might be temporary for now but maybe in the future we would decide to find a place where we could rent to own and also a place which is accessible and beneficial for us in the long run.
432  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin's age of legal competence on: March 01, 2023, 08:16:01 AM
You can't mine with bitcoin core. You'd have to purchase or rent electricity and hardware which could be refunded the same way (from the conpany they bought them off).

Can children under 18 work there and be paid?.if so that's probably how a lot of ways to come across crypto are treated.

I'm from the UK and started here when I was about 14, it was hard to get crypto aside from using faucets and then my sig space on here because of the restrictions (I merely wanted to test how it worked). We don't have the same restrictions on buying things though, I remember first using a debit card when I was 13 to buy a game for my DS.

Can children purchase things from abroad there, how is that handled?
Same here, I started using faucets when I was merely 16 yrs. old out of curiosity. Here in my country too, it is forbidden to do transactions below 18 years old. I remembered using my mother's bank account way back years ago to receive the money I earned working here on signature campaigns. IDK from other countries but, as what I have noticed from today's world is that, mobile phones are easily accessible for teens nowadays, so I think some are already doing transactions with minors.
433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can the exact date of the next Bitcoin halving be determined accurately? on: February 27, 2023, 05:23:33 AM
There have been rumors of people claiming that they can accurately predict the next events on crypto and the next halving, but none of them are proven to be true. Most of them based their analysis from the previous Datas and records or the history of crypto events specially bitcoin halving. Personally, I no longer believe on those self-claims, but it also doesn't hurt the fact that you read and be aware because what if it'll happen? At least I was aware before it happened.

My condolences there mate. We understand your grief and yes treasure every moment you have to the person who keeps supporting you through and through. One of the best things in the world is to have someone who supports you unconditionally or someone who wont question you for every decision you'll make in life as long as it is always good for you. Crypto or non crypto related it is always assuring to have someone like that in your life, how much more when it comes to financial decisions? You can be more confident when taking risks or you can their second opinion when deciding things.

436  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your reasons for holding bitcoins? on: February 26, 2023, 10:42:37 AM
At first I was attracted due to its exclusivity, since only a few people are able to obtain or holding bitcoin. The second reason is because of its price. That time it is only around $200, although it is low compared to the price today, it is still quiet a large sum. The third reason is due to people saying that it could be an investment on par with stocks are real estate. I was shocked to learn it at first and at the same time doubtful coz how could an ordinary individual could participate with global economic investment with not that much money? And then here's crypto that actually disrupt our tradional views on finance. When I first encountered bitcoin I was not yet at legal age at the moment but, I want to earn money for me and also to have a litlt bit savings. At that time there are no opportunities available for me due to my age, then I found bitcoin that opens a lot of possibilities for me.
437  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin Disrupting our Financial Landscape? on: February 26, 2023, 07:03:14 AM
Please do take note that I'm not questioning your belief towards crypto and bitcoin, either you guys believe that bitcoin will bring a huge change or not. I'm doing this to provoke conversation and to know what your thoughts regarding changes towards our traditional financial structure, and the involvement of bitcoin, it's effects on your lives and or your financial decisions/approach.
438  Economy / Economics / Is Bitcoin Disrupting our Financial Landscape? on: February 25, 2023, 09:59:20 AM
As we all know that Bitcoin is firstly introduced to us for it's convenience and numerous benefits. Being banked or underbanked, we can still enjoy the benefits and the accessibility of transactions as long as we have access to internet. Another benefit also is the anonimity it gives to people(although some would probably say not totally). By this, it is only right to say that Bitcoin has the potential to completely transform the way we think about money and finance. Compared to what we traditionally knew about finance, cryptocurrencies and bitcoin allows an individual to participate on the global economy without much requirement that otherwise it would be impossible. Although this is beneficial for developing countries, where traditional banking services may not be available or accessible, we couldn't deny the fact that it is slowly changing or disrupting the financial structure that we knew.

what do you guys think?
439  Economy / Economics / Re: The Rise of GPT AI. Crypto is at risk? on: February 20, 2023, 04:34:30 PM
Over the recent years, technology has improved leaps and bounds, and one notable development is the rise of GPT AI, an artificial intelligence that allows machine to interact with humans in a more natural and conversational way. We cannot ignore the fact that it lessens the amount of work needed in some areas in our economy and society, thanks to the advancements of machine learning, natural language processing and deep learning, as a result GPT AI has become a powerful tool for businesses. Although we could say it gives us benefit, we can't still be so sure with the risks involved that maybe can outweighed or may potentially ruin the economy.

"GPT AI has also been used to develop trading bots that can automatically execute trades based on pre-programmed rules and conditions. These bots can monitor the market 24/7 and make trades based on real-time data, which can lead to more profitable trades and reduced risk."

Based on that statement alone, we can conclude that there will be potential risks such as trading bots that could manipulate the market which could lead to significant losses.

How about you, what are your thoughts regarding this one?

even when AI trading is not good for me, because after all it is no different from a trading bot, that's true. Then never or in the future AI will not be perfect compared to real human.

The method of people like us is still different compared to AI that they will only say or do what is programmed, that's how easy it is to understand.
I hate to say this but there's no actual source for that one, and to be honest at first I was also skeptical on posting it here coz maybe some of ya'll would think it is not a reliable information but, I chose to post it here knowing that coz it is also possible  for bots to be developed that way and I think it is only appropriate for members here to share their different opinions as a way to provoke their imagination and share their unbiased opinions.
440  Economy / Economics / Re: The Rise of GPT AI. Crypto is at risk? on: February 20, 2023, 12:44:08 PM
AI technology is still far from perfection. Just look at the newly launched Bing search engine by Microsoft and OpenAI. The AI bot is making mistakes. I know that there's a lot of room for improvement, when in comes to AI, but it's kinda early to expect the crypto industry to get destroyed by AI bots. Grin
Crypto trading bots exist way before AI was a thing. Did the cryptocurrency market collapse because of the trading bots? Nope.
It's theoretically possible for multiple trading bots to manipulate the cryptocurrency prices, but the costs of implementing such price manipulation would be pretty high. It's way easier to spread FUD on the social media and cause panic selling.
Precisely. That's a good point out there and its also true that it's much easier to spread rumors than pay to use bots for manipulation. It's always effective on causing massive panic when you're using the most conventional way which is through FUD. I'm not saying this for bad purposes but mostly this happens a lot before and based from that it was effective although it's used in a bad way. Right now bots are still far from completion and it still needs a lot of improvements but, we couldn't deny that it slowly shows how much opportunities and benefits it could bring to our day to day tasks.
