Well I think studying first is the best way to start trading. If you think that you've learned enough, then try it but brace yourself for the possible loss you must have a fortified emotion before going to warzone. That's the problem of most ICOs. They seem to be scams because they don't offer any prototype. Most of them look like a dream that needs money to be true. Really good projects offer prototype and clear roadmap and have to have some proofs of trust.

most of coins from airdrop are shitcoin . i prefer to sell that coins fastly when i receive it. this is a way to get profit. if i hold that coin long term, iam worried the price of that coin will be zero. it is just my opinion friend.  But sometimes most airdrop coin can be boom in the market I have a lot of airdrop coin and I dont want to sell them all because the price now are so cheap waiting for some big pump up or new exchange site. I can't name any other coin/token, which failed more times than ETH. It's not about loving or hating it, it's all about people losing money, because of situations which can be avoided. I would care less if these ETH based projects were not asking money from the masses, but that's not the case. And believe me when I'm saying that Ethereum has some powerful lobbyists. Otherwise its price would be probably 1/5 from the current one.
