How can anyone state this while providing intelligent examples of why they believe this to be true? I would love to hear them...
I think the answer is simple - Trump has managed to convince people to give him blind, unconditional loyalty. They will attack whoever attacks him or whoever he signals for them to attack. Doesn't matter why or who. They will agree with and defend whatever he says, even when he contradicts himself. And they will always pick Trump on a "who do you think is better" poll. The other options are irrelevant. Of course, these people aren't really Republicans. They are part of the Trump party and Trump just happened to run as a Republican.

Lincoln didn't free a single slave, it just made all US citizens equally enslaved as chattel property. My argument is that Abraham Lincoln cared about slaves. Whether or not he actually freed any depends on your opinion of what freeing a slave actually consists of. Abraham Lincoln was a tyrant who didn't care about slavery. I actually included that quote in my post because I had a feeling you would use it out of context. But then you did anyway. Did you read my post? Lincoln was explaining that he would keep is official duty (saving the Union) separate from his "oft-expressed wish that all men everywhere could be free".

Abraham Lincoln was a tyrant who didn't care about slavery.
If you only focus on the compromises he made along the path to abolishing slavery, it would seem he didn't care, but if you look at his actions as a whole I think it's pretty obvious he cared a ton about ending slavery and deserves a lot of credit for making it happen. I think this is the quote people use to attack him: If there be those who would not save the Union, unless they could at the same time save slavery, I do not agree with them. If there be those who would not save the Union unless they could at the same time destroy slavery, I do not agree with them. My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that. But leave off the next sentence: I have here stated my purpose according to my view of official duty; and I intend no modification of my oft-expressed personal wish that all men everywhere could be free. Before he was elected he was a well known anti-slavery activist. While he was running he was attacked politically as an abolitionist (although it's debatable whether he actually was one or not). He signed the Emancipation Proclamation (basically an executive order that freed millions of slaves), worked to help 13 Amendment get ratified, supported recolonizing Liberia so that freed slaves had access to a safe place to live, I could go on and on.

Dean,
You are responsible for the situation you're in right now. Not JollyGood or TMAN or RHaver or the "hackers" or anyone else. Just you.
If your goal is to make everyone whole, I suggest putting more time into that instead of trying to play the victim while being a dick all the time. It's just not working.

They posted the official complaint (It seems like the actual indictment is still sealed and they are calling this indictment looking thing a press release...kind of weird I think?). https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/press-release/file/1222646/downloadOnly charge: Seems kind of like he didn't actually cause any harm: Also mentioned that someone else is expected to get arrested very soon. Maybe he just pissed of the wrong FBI field office at the wrong time and they convinced SDNY to make an example of him. It's either that or we are still missing a lot of the story. He was in the process of denouncing his citizenship also - not sure which argument that supports more though.
Why does the government suck so much at making pdfs? It's like they just upgraded from typewriters to whatever the first word processor was and then had an intern scan it.

1. Administer entrance exams to each school and each program. Accept only the top 100 students per program. Offer full scholarships to the top 10 students in each program.
2. Eliminate non-academic scholarships.
3. Eliminate all other bullshit/noise: recommendation letters, volunteer work letters, high-school averages, essays, participation in sports and other hobbies, racial and social profiles, etc.
Good ideas. All leaning towards what American Post-Grad school is like today.

End federal subsidies and loans. For every dollar a school accepts of federal funds they are required to maintain a certain percentage of private funding. Since a very big portion of this funding ends up coming from federal sources, the end result is they are constantly required to jack up tuition prices to meet the minimal private funding level. Once this is changed so many other issues will begin solving themselves.
Too many people who don't belong in college are burning vast resources to get degrees in underwater lesbian basket weaving and then doing nothing with the degree and ending up in massive debt. The current educational system is one big lesson in inflation.
I really don't think the federal loan program is that big of a factor, and isn't it a profitable program overall anyway? The loans aren't that big, and even if the student gets buried in private loans they can't make payments on the government loans will still get paid. I think the max an undergrad student can get in subsidized loans is $5k a year for 4 years and they have to be enrolled as a full time student. If the kid ends up making even 10% more over the period of an average life with an average income, that's a great return when you add up all the extra income tax. Unfortunately what you think is irrelevant, the fact is federal loans and grants with accompanying private funding requirements have been proven to drive up tuition costs. Of course you would have to have a basic understanding of economics and bother to look first instead of just assuming to be correct to understand this. https://www.forbes.com/sites/prestoncooper2/2017/02/22/how-unlimited-student-loans-drive-up-tuition/https://slate.com/business/2015/09/student-loans-drive-up-college-costs-what-should-we-do-about-it.htmlhttps://www.newyorkfed.org/medialibrary/media/research/staff_reports/sr733.pdfYeah, I wasn't saying that student loans don't drive up the costs. They obviously do. I don't think getting rid of the federally funded loans, especially the subsidized ones would solve much, at least not for the public schools. I guess limiting them to only non-private schools might be a good idea though. Interesting Report there:

Are you guys saying the federal government makes private lenders offer loans without any sort of discrimination? I was always under the impression that when it came to loans they (the private companies) could pick and choose however they liked.
(Hey Squatz you just got your legendary)

Really, what difference would there be in graduating from an "high ranking" college or a much more affordable, perhaps even state college? I think that academic knowledge and experience couldn't be all that different if we were to judge by that. Personal skills and employability in the end depend highly on personal efforts in my opinion other than just the piece of paper you're handed.
Graduating from a prestigious school definitely counts for something, but I think it's counting less and less in the recent years. Of course it depends on your area of study, but Companies often partner with Universities with internship or mentor programs that often lead to pre-graduation job offers pending eventual Graduation and GPA. The highest paying companies partner only with the most prestigious school. I think things are changing though, mostly because of the Student Loan issues and the ever growing access to online material, much of it free. The only thing that Harvard offers their undergrads that they can't get for free is the "college experience" and a handful of specialized courses depending on their major. All those huge lecture classes that only require you take a midterm and final are already on the internet. In the 70s and 80s, going to college was a huge deal here, something your whole family would be proud of. Now everyone goes to college and any 18 year old can rack up 200k in debt while getting high and being an idiot for a couple years. Convincing 18yo idiots to rack up massive debt while not capable of actually learning anything is just cruel. I'm all for higher education, but that's just not what Undergraduate programs are anymore. We've just added 4 more years to what one is expected to spend on their education, the private universities are the only real winners in the big picture.

Speaking of tax plans: This article from Motherjones includes a nice visualization. Amazing how Biden, out of the Democrat candidates, would have a tax plan so close to Trump's. However, I think that plans that lower taxes for the biggest majority are more bitcoin friendly ones, as they'd live more cash in the hands of more people (hence more chances of people to feel comfortable joining). In that regard I think warren wins. That graph seems way off. Am I reading it wrong or is it saying that Warren and Sanders are going to tax the top ~1% around 35%, just 2-5% more than 99% of the country?

So yeah, he not only gave the talk but had been formulating plans to facilitate the exchange of crypto between NK and other nations while knowing that this would violate international and US sanctions.
Guy is going to be in a lot of trouble.
Could he really be so smart that North Korea couldn't figure out whatever it is his talk was about on their own? Maybe that doesn't matter I guess, and it's just the principle. Wonder if any North Koreans browse BitcoinTalk to look for new ways to launder money and scam crypto for their Dear Leader. Whats up guys, come say hi.

Smoked for ~7 years, bought a $30 Juul almost 2 years ago and haven't touched a cig ever since. Haven't even had to replace the Juul and don't feel any motivation to buy one of those crazy kits where you mix the juices and can fill up a room with a cloud.
I feel like it's definitely more healthy less unhealthy. I used to get colds and have a sore throat pretty often, especially during the winter. That seems to have gotten much better. Plus I was always very self conscious about my hands and breath smelling.
Hopefully they don't figure out the vapers are killing themselves faster than the smokers, that would suck. I'd still want to know though.
I think it's good they are putting a lot of effort into discouraging kids from trying it. I imagine it's a lot easier to get addicted since it's much more convenient to sneak a puff throughout the day and the nicotine content is much higher. I know nicotine doesn't kill people but no good reason to get addicted to it.

The office of the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and the FBI announced today that it has arrested and charged Virgil Griffith for violating the U.S. sanctions laws and traveling to North Korea to "deliver a presentation and technical advice on using cryptocurrency and blockchain technology to evade sanctions."
“As alleged, Virgil Griffith provided highly technical information to North Korea, knowing that this information could be used to help North Korea launder money and evade sanctions," U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman said in a statement. "In allegedly doing so, Griffith jeopardized the sanctions that both Congress and the president have enacted to place maximum pressure on North Korea’s dangerous regime."

I guess they warned him not to go, and he did anyway. Definitely seems like there is more to this story than just talking at a NK Conference... The fact that he's being charged by the Southern District of NY is very bad news for him, unless he has something that they want he could get a few years (I think it's 20 max, which seems out of the question). Been down a bit of a rabbit hole reading about this guy, he is clearly a brilliant programmer. Like insanely smart. TMAN makes vulgarity a fine art. It would be a real shame if he wasn't allowed to share his art with us.

I never attacked you, you blatant lying piece of shit!
GP, you are the piece of shit - not her. Go crawl back into the hole you came from and stop preying on vulnerable casino victims.
Thank you for your update. I am of course sorry that nothing could be done on your behalf, but glad to hear you are out of gambling (as ironic as it may sound given my avatar). My honest advice to you is to not post further on this forum under your current ID as game-protect has been threatening to dox customers who complain or file lawsuits against them for "defamation." Of course, he/she has not actually filed such a lawsuit to date, but you certainly don't need that on your mind as a possibility. Perhaps the lawyer you have engaged with is more honest than game-protect themselves and will see your case through independent of their involvement. In any case, good luck in your future endeavors.
I think you should thank her for sharing her story, the forum didn't have many cases of actual experience with GP, and in my opinion it's truly sad to see a customer being treated like this ... being called a piece of **** - maybe she wasn't the one making the deposit (aka donation), I did it, but I did it as an investment and far as I was concerned Jenni should have been treated with professionalism and with respect just as if she made the deposit (aka donation) by herself. I think the forum should thank her for being honest, I also thank her, I also thanked Game Protect for helping me in the past, I would always appreciate it but nonetheless I am very disappointed to see how things are now ... very sad ... He did thank her. And I thank her as well. Sharing personal experience with these kind of services is always good for the community.

Judiciary Committee just announced they will have a public hearing next Wednesday, Dec 4th. ^^^ Right! As someone said in a different post, by the time impeachment process of the Donald gets moving (provided there really is one), it will be a long time after the election before Trump actually gets impeached. And by then He will be in his second term, and things will have changed drastically for the country.
There's a very good chance Trump will be impeached by mid January, maybe even before Christmas. Trump will likely be impeached at the worst possible time for the Dems running for president who currently are in the Senate, as the trial will interfere with their ability to campaign, possible, for over a month. Possibly? The Republicans could drag it out as long as they wanted. The only way left for sane Democrats (if there are any left) is for them to vote to impeach and NOT REACH A MAJORITY. I think the Chief Justice will run the trial, not Mitch. I could be wrong though. It might be a combination of them both. Mitch has made it clear he wants the trial to be quick as possible. He could be lying I guess. Making the trial run into February primaries would help Pete and Biden and hurt Bernie and Warren. Could be wrong, but I assume the Republicans would prefer Bernie or Warren got the nomination.

Ivanka isn't qualified, or she's another criminal?
Yes. Read the article. Shut down for charity fraud. Kinda crazy she can't even run a legit non-profit yet people think she can run a country. Amazing that people are so blind. A bunch of sheep. It's a stretch to call Ivanka a criminal. The Trump foundation was obviously a fraudulently run charity though.
