Mining for profit with a low budget is nil or negative, even with free electricity.
If you want to mine as a hobby, to learn the technology, or just to say you're "Bitcoin mining", be my guest.
The hobby or for fun approach is best for a low budget. If you think you're trying to get rich without a few TH/s farm, cheap or free electricity, in a colo data center facility with extra cooling, keep dreaming...

They claimed there was no need for independent verification because they were shipping to customers and customers would prove the miners. The last 4 times this has happened, its not ended well.
Dogie, you didnt receive unit? I think it expplains all, close the thread and ppl will not be scammed anymore. Its not about receiving a unit, its the attitude which doesn't make sense. Every single post for 15 pages across their 4 threads has been about 'we dont think you're real', yet they don't believe they need verification. It doesn't make sense unless they have nothing. Don't worry, you can always go to their booth at Inside Bitcoins in Hong Kong to check them out! Show us a working miner with real world proof. Nope. But advertise their presence at a major Bitcoin conference, and they're all over it. They'll never pass up an opportunity for self-promotion, that's for sure.

@Mining-Asics-Technologies
Why don't you just show us the inside of the miner (not just the outside case), a link to the miner hashing away at Eligius or BTCGuild, and a video of CGMiner hashing away?
It's not that hard.

This guy isn't serious, is he? 4.2 BTC is more than an Antminer S2, and that's overpriced as it is!

I have to agree with Xukanik to an extent. The "mob mentality" in this thread is getting just stupid ridiculous. For two reasons:
1) We all knew (or at least should have known) that by placing a pre-order we could easily end up in this situation. I mean, it's not like this has never happened before with pre-order ASICs... Enough people waded through these waters way before the Prospero/Minion was even announced that every single one of us knew the pitfalls. Now everyone's just mad they took the gamble and lost. It's the same reaction I've seen at blackjack tables. Someone goes all in to double-down on an 11, gets a 2, looses everything. Then they storm off like they're mad at the dealer/casino for taking their money, forgetting they put the cash on the table to begin with. I'm not saying BA is in the clear and has no responsibility, but we can't honestly act totally surprised either.
2) Nobody, especially BA, cares what you have to say in your angry rant post. They say they care, and maybe they do a little, but demanding 6TH or else, talking about getting "the police" involved, etc will more than likely go ignored like the white noise it has become.
Again, I'm not taking up for BA. Just pointing out that over half of this thread is an exercise in futility. The really interesting thing is the contrast between BA's thread and other ASIC manufacturers' threads. Have you looked at the BFL Monarch threads? Sure, there's people who are impatient and some who are downright angry, but it's nowhere near as hostile as this thread or the ecointalk thread. And they've been strung out twice as long as us. Either BFL's customers are just more patient, or BFL is better at getting people to drink the Koolaid than BA.
Koolaid. They want to believe in the miracle that is the Monarch. That, and BFL's threads are heavily moderated, so they'll delete any critical and negative posts yesterday!

Thanks ChuckBuck. I'll read up on your suggestions and see the limits, account info etc. Many thanks for the suggestions.
No problem. If you find the right reputable buyer, shouldn't be any limits on LocalBitcoins. For Coinbase, the following limits apply: http://blog.coinbase.com/post/74631122841/a-change-in-limits-and-denominationsSoon we will be changing some of the daily buy and sell limits on Coinbase, as well as changing the way they are counted. Instead of setting limits in bitcoin, they will be set in dollars.
For example, a level 2 user will have a purchase limit of $50,000/day instead of 50 BTC. Right now that’s equivalent to about 60 BTC, but as the price of bitcoin changes, the BTC equivalent will vary.
When we originally created the transfer limits on Coinbase, the price of bitcoin was much lower. A limit of 50 BTC/day in August was only equivalent to $5,000. Today, it’s equivalent to over $40,000.
We are also taking the time to reduce some limits that have become too high: Level 1 buy and sell. These are both being reduced to $3,000/day (equivalent to the 10 BTC/day limit when bitcoin reached $300 in early November).
Remember: If you need to buy or sell more than $3,000 USD worth of bitcoin in a day, that is still possible by upgrading to level 2 which has a $50k/day limit.
We hope these changes will make buying and selling on Coinbase an easier process for those more familiar with USD denominations, and also be a more stable solution to purchase limits as bitcoin continues to grow into the future.

No more questions, just do it. Bitcoin may be trustless, but you can trust the good honest folks on this forum. Except the ones trying to sell you gambling shit in their sigs, those guys are aholes.Hey, I take offense to that! My sig is purty and shiny. I'm Mister Asshole to you.

I think they should reach 51% mining and seriously screw up BTC, at least temporarily, because this will happen:
1. BTC price will take a huge lumpkin dive.
2. Then while the price is low low low, I will buy lots of BTC and hold.
3. Then when the price recovers, I will cash out for a huge profit.
This is a great plan! 51% BTC, Ghash pool!
What country is an .io name extension from?
British Indian Ocean territory, or also used by Internet Startups and IT organizations because it's an abbreviation for Input/Output.

Isn't MrTeal selling it new for $850 though or roughly 1.4 BTC?
What's with the upsell for 2 BTC?
It's in Australia. As I said earlier, that's how much it cost for me to get it here. I'd like to get my money back, and it's not as though it's old tech - it's not even 24 hours old Understood, well maybe you can sell for even more on eBay, as it's hard to upsell(I know shipping and all) here in BCT. Either way, good luck with your sale!

I have 35 AntMiner S1s happily hashing away. Need to make way for bigger miners since I've maxxed out my electrical supply. I've added a second fan with M3 screws and nylon spacers as an exhaust. They're all clocked at 375 and configured for MultiMiner 3.2.2. B0.41 includes USPS Priority Mail 2-Day shipping in the 50 states. What's the trick to getting an image viewable here Photo: http://imgur.com/sS2bMkdIf you're using imgur, you have to use the link under BBCode (message boards & forums).

Love the design of these miners, so dense with asic chips, but the board arrangement of the heatsinks and fans are just perfect. These guys just know what they're doing. Wish I had $5k to throw at that August SP30 Group buy.... You mean $4,500 My bad, glossed over that 10% off offer in the group buy thread. Either way, very good deal I missed...
