Probably just a lot of heavy traffic or ddos-ing, though the forum has just recently switched to Cloudflare so maybe there's some transitional issues with that because it's been on and off and laggy all day for me as well (as have a lot of bitcoin related websites/exchanges).

Roll Eyes I doubt they're trying to scam anyone but they're obviously having growing pains right now and are struggling under the weight of all the traffic of users trying to desperately buy/sell.

I am out of my words, how can a site like kraken run so extremly poorly? I regret using them, If I only knew before... I use kraken as entry gateway to get my hands on some bitcoins. My play is to transfer a few of them so I can trade some alt coins on another platform. Guess what, after finally managing to get bitcoins I can not transfer them to another bitcoin wallet.

I can't say how much frustrated I am. It seems they have disabled the option to withdrawal bitcoins? Can some1 confirm? And also how can I get my bitcoins now to another wallet? It is fucking ridiculous ppl should stop trading there alltogether, they run an overall shitty service and ppl are losing effectively money.

They just can't handle the traffic unfortunately. Most exchanges have similar problems. Coinbase seemingly don't even have any customer support at all and their bank verification system never worked for me. I haven't found a perfect exchange yet but up until recently I haven't had any issues with Kraken and hopefully they're working on it behind the scenes and will get sorted soon because they probably will lose a lot of customers if they don't. I'm probably just going to start selling coins for either cash or straight bank transfer with people to be honest though cos with fees and all the hassle it's not really worth it to be honest.

*Noob alert* If I posted once a day, how long would it take to become jn member?

You will need 30 activity to become a Junior Member, so 30 posts over three activity periods which will be about a month. You can work it out exactly by checking the activity period start dates on the spreadsheet here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=582736.0
4225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forum moderation policy on: December 08, 2017, 12:11:16 PM
and who will define, an interesting post or not... this opinion is subjective. a lot of things it is interesting to me, but also it is a lot of not. here so then also it turns out that ban for anything...

Staff decide, but of course it is subjective. Staff aren't going to remove posts just for the fun of it though so it really needs to be a worthless contribution for it to be considered for removal. Lots of people report posts that they think are pointless and sometimes the staff agree and sometimes they don't, but users here aren't banned just for 'anything' and are done so for breaking a serious rule. This forum is probably one of the most liberal on the internet and in fact many would and have argued that moderation here is too lax.

Yes, agree. We really Appreciated and we thank for consideration. Sometimes our post  has been deleted even though it is related to the topic.

Just because it is related to the topic doesn't make it relevant or important. Stating an answer that has already been given is pointless and should be removed even if you put some effort into the answer.

And also to those account that has been banned, We lost our activity that we've been working, can retrieve our accounts? Thanks! Smiley

Not if it's permabanned. However, you can create a thread in Meta requesting unbanning on specific accounts.

That's amazing COPPER member, where is silver and gold?

Hilariousandco is a Gold Member and Mprep is a Diamond Member. They are only available if you perform certain sexual favours to an admin.

Silver and Gold Memberships may or may not become available for regular users. Theymos has stated that he may or may not add more ranks in the future but I for one hope he does as the benefits are numerous.
4227  Other / Meta / Re: How to know Potential Activity? on: December 08, 2017, 11:45:34 AM
I described exactly how you can do it in the very post you just quoted. If you can't be bothered to work it out manually just wait for the site to be up and running again but I doubt this is something that is that urgent.

Uggh, finally managed to load the bitcoin deposit page up and it's now saying:

This action is not available for tier level 3

Your current funding tier level (3) is insufficient for this functionality. Please further verify your account to increase your tier level and funding limits.

What the hell? I've had no issues before.

This is what Kraken has been for many users for months now. And yes, it is ridiculous.

You need to try and try and try again, as mentioned in other posts.

We did a little test on Kraken today to see whether things have improved for API users. Guess what....a total error percentage of 94% for placement calls. Tested with 100 small limit orders (API answers such as Eservice uavailable, Eservice Busy, and other answer NOT containing a correct answer with order ID etc are counted as errors).

This just to quantify the horrible users experience happening for months now (At least in our case, leading to the choice to stop trading on Kraken, expect for these little test now and then.)

This site is just a joke. Unfortunately on the cost of its users.

Yeah, I finally managed to get an address up, but there's so many backlogged transactions it wouldn't surprise me if it takes a day or more to go though and the price looks to be falling as people panic that they can't sell. Had to pay a £30 fee on a £2k transaction as well. I guess these are just the growing pains of bitcoin and are something we'll have to learn to deal with but hopefully these exchanges will plow some money into making their services more efficient because it'll only get worse as more users get involved.

Hello Mods and Members,
I was reading about Activity algo on forum recently. There is an interesting concept of 14-days pot activity.
Is there anyway from which I can check mine or others potential activity? Like what is their pot rank, etc?

You can use this site:

https://www.bctalkaccountpricer.info/

Or just work out how many two week periods you've posted in since you signed up (which could be tedious and time consuming Grin). check  this spreadsheet for dates: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12saLhlUoqIdairxzuSPu6EYGrt7FN2lOstO1yDjCEbA

Let me in. Wink

I'll add you to the op but looking at your feedback I hope you're serious and not just trolling. If anyone else is still interested please let me know. Not long before the end of the year but hopefully we can get 20 users involved for at least a couple of decent prizes.

I finally just made it to the page where I can choose SEPA etc., and in red at the top : Service is currently disabled. Please try again later

Is it really disabled or should I continue to frantically refresh ?

edit : now another red message : There was a problem completing your request. Please wait a couple minutes before checking on the status of the request and retry the request if necessary.

It's not disabled. You just have to try again. I've literally just spent 24h (well I did sleep and eat in between tries) making two withdrawals. I've seen every code 5xx page error and all sorts of 'Service disabled' and 'Tier 3 cannot withdraw' errors. It's just ridiculous. 24h for something that should take a couple of minutes.

I couldn't even get through to sell my coins due to cloudflare errors never mind make any withdrawals. I'm guessing it's going to be quite difficult to make any successful transactions until everything calms down which could be a while as there must be lots of users desperately trying to cash out continuously.
4233  Other / Meta / Re: New PM limits on: December 08, 2017, 09:59:38 AM
I suspect part of the reason for the very low limits for 0 (and <15 activity) users is to combat PM spam, however one solution to this might be to force these users to solve a captcha when sending a PM.

ICO scammers have been botting the forum spamming users en masse trying to promote their crapcoins. Staff were getting hundreds of reports of unsolicited spam so it was a necessary step unfortunately. This is why we can't have nice things.
4234  Other / Meta / Re: Newbies can now pay a small fee to enable images on: December 08, 2017, 09:50:42 AM
I am not sure but isn't the price already adjusted (by theymos)? I checked it in preev and it is ~$29

It doesn't automatically adjust, but I update it every now and then. Same for the evil-IP registration fee.

Would it not be possible to peg it to fiat (out of fairness and so we don't have another vip/donator rank situation)?

Are there any plans to implement more ranks yet as the Copper one seems to have been fairly popular and higher ranks with bigger and better perks I'm sure would be even more so?

Is the btc address linked to my account? I thought it's shared for all users.

The address given is unique to you, hence how we know you've paid.
4235  Other / Meta / Re: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ on: December 08, 2017, 09:45:14 AM
i want to ask,
if my post is deleted continuously will i get banned??
is there a maximum post deleted ??

There's certainly a chance if you repeatedly break rules, but there's no number of posts deleted equals a ban rule. I'd suggest you read the rules and work out what you're doing wrong though to minimise the risk of any bans.

If anyone post more than 25+ Ann thread daily then bitcointalk will banned him???

If they're spammy/pointless posts then there's certainly a chance. Posting 'joined airdrop' or 'interesting project' etc are good ways to get yourself banned though.
4236  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Hassleless Exchanges on: December 08, 2017, 07:28:24 AM
You won't really find a decent/legal exchange that doesn't require some forms of ID verification. I've had success with Kraken and would recommend it, though their site is a little laggy at the moment due to obvious increased traffic.

If you want to use a visa I recommend using coinbase. It is easy to set up an account and you don’t need to verify via ID to use your visa, you are limited in how much You can buy without verifying your account. They do charge a fee though. That’s the only place I know of that you can use a credit card but I’m sure there are other exchanges out there I just don’t know of any.

Ok mate, thank you very much for the input, much appreciated!

I'll check that one out!

Coinbase is terrible. You'll likely never get verified at all. I had money stuck on there for months with no answers  to dozens of emails to support, though I was selling coins so maybe it's easier buying.
4237  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] KRAKEN.COM - Exchange with USD EUR GBP JPY CAD BTC LTC XRP NMC XDG STR ETH on: December 07, 2017, 07:09:08 PM
Yeah, site has become pretty unusable to me. Shame, because it's the only exchange I've had any success with and Coinbase was an absolute nightmare and I really don't even want to attempt to sell there again.

Congratulations are in order to hilarious, who's been stringing us all along with silly predictions until this week.

What's silly about them? I've been pretty consistent overall and been hovering around the top five for quite some time.

I'm predicting a lot of draws this week. A lot of very evenly matched games.
