42261  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: I want a Gambling Pool on: July 14, 2014, 09:57:46 PM
Isnt this exactly what you want?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=262712.0

Not exactly.
OP still wants to have half of the usual revenue when he doesn't find the block lol. Smiley

Well, OP just needs to split half his hashrate to solopool and half to a more usual pool. Over time it'll average out to the same thing.

yeah that is the best solution for him.  I do 1.5 % to bitsolo.net and 99 % to btcguild.

Please share this method for achieving 100.5% of your hashrate? Wink
auto correct  ? rounding error?       Wink

  15gh   and 1020gh    hmm  lets not be lazy 15/1035 = 1.45 percent     1020/1035 = 98.55 percent

I am getting 2 or 3 s-3's .

I plan to  use one at solo and the other one or 2 at merged pool like bitminter.

I would then be  at 500gh  solo   1500 gh merged

Ack, it's been weeks now and you're still using the word "merged" wrong!

There is either solo mining or pool mining*. Some pools also merge mine alt coins. "Merged" and "pool" mean different things. The words are not interchangeable.

* there are also solo "pools" but they aren't technically real pools since you aren't actually "pooling" your resources. They are really more like solo mining gateways.

I coined merged pools to be  differential  from solo pools.

I do understand  you, but if bitsolo.net and solopool.net call their selves solo pools I don't I  know what to call the 'normal' pools.

using solopool.net or bitsolo.net   we are using a pooled server  that rewards blocks to the block maker only.

I did 510 so far.  I will put in 400.
42263  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 Strange Problems on: July 14, 2014, 09:24:33 PM
Hadn't thought of trying via ssh

Just tried via putty, and no joy. It says that the connection is refused

How do you mean by hacked and power cycle?

I've rebooted at the PSU every time it goes idle now as I can't reboot via the web gui
Silly question: are you sure you used the correct port for the SSH connection when trying to hit it with putty?  It seems odd that you can't get to that miner by either the web UI or putty.

Do you have it set to DHCP?  Has it picked up a different IP address?

I have to think the setting got corrupted just a bit.  say 192.168.1 .155   and it was 192.168.1.156    if the only change was 155 to 156 it would mine and he would not be able to find it.  he should scan his network. looking for an unknown address.
42264  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Hopefully starting up, have questions about hardware. on: July 14, 2014, 09:18:42 PM
Hello all, so I've created an account and ended my bitcointalk surfing. Anyways, my father is interested in mining from a investment standpoint. I will post in "Mining Speculation" about the ROI and profitability in our new side project so keep your comments hardware based please.

We are doing our research but I have always found the best answers are from those with the most experience. We want to create a revenue stream from mining with an initial investment of $30,000 USD. The parts need to be able to scale to a higher mining capacity once things start up and running with success. Of course, we need to be realistic here and make sure this will be worth our while.

I'd love to hear your perspective on the situation and any advice on different hardware we can use.

Thanks,
Alex

First question  what is your power price?
Second question what is your power capability?
Third question is what type of place will you do your mining in?

okay I am set at 0.1

do you want it to be lower?

I can set at .05 >

by your request I will do that.

I made it .05 for btc and .2 for nmc
42266  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.414 BTC for 180GH/s on: July 14, 2014, 08:50:38 PM
For those who don't have cheap power, how long do you think these S1 are going to stay on for?

The clock v. power curve would be interesting

remember down clock under volt  gets you 140gh and 180 watts  that adds 2 diff or 3 diff jumps of life.
42267  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 Strange Problems on: July 14, 2014, 08:46:08 PM
look into all your miners use a scanner

http://www.advanced-ip-scanner.com/

find every address you have.  then try to get into the miner.

also try a different cat 5/6 cable to it.

aslo try a different jack in your ethernet switch
42268  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Next diff increase 3% (in 50 minutes) on: July 14, 2014, 08:23:02 PM
Huge jump coming soon, 20% at least... Rockbox and s3 is coming..
They already have them running as they are testing them so it will probably be way lower Wink

No manufacturer can burn-in test their entire production batch at once. They would need access to a massive, massive datacenter just to temporarily test the new ASICs before shipping.

More likely they simply fill a smaller datacenter the machines that first come out of production, test them for a period of time, then ship them out when the next batch arrives for testing.

So when you think you're seeing jumps in network hashrate due to ASIC production, you're only seeing a small part of the total production that arrives for testing and then ships to customers in waves.

Or it could all just be lady luck.  3 days of 20% luck could have lead to the 25% increase and a week of bad lucky could have lead to the minimal increase.  Certain pools are not willing to release it's hashing data so it's difficult to asses this.

luck could cause +- 10%  so a 13% true  jump could be 15%  for the high end and 11% for the low end.

along with  the summer's heat and power hungry gear being shut down.  I just don't see  diff jumps above 18% avg.  my guess is 10-15% avg for the next 5 jumps.
42269  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How high do you think the S3's will clock to? on: July 14, 2014, 07:58:13 PM
Well, with Bitmain coming out today and stating that the anticipated hashing rate of 478GH/s caused problems, I doubt there will be much success in over clocking these at all - at least batch 1/2/3.

I'm actually going to go the other route, as philipma1957 alluded to.  If these can be under clocked to get 400GH/s at about 275W, I'll throw 4 of them on and EVGA G2 1300.  Now, with Bitmain also offering coupons/discounts for those of us that ordered the first batch, I'll most likely grab a few more depending on the under clocking results.

yeah 400gh in the 250-275 watts range  make them very quiet and cool.  I have 2 evga 1300's I my end up with  6 of them 3 in my home and 3 at my friends office.

it would be 2.4th along with the 1th  hosted in china. gives me 3.4th   push 0.4th at bitsolo.net and the rest at btcguild and bitminter.
42270  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Hosted Gridseed G-Blades or other HOSTED Scrypt Miners on: July 14, 2014, 07:52:15 PM
I am running 11 gridseed blades in house.

I have been around a while.

I would be willing to run 2 at your pool  with your worker settings.

Make an offer.

Thanks for the offer philipma1957.

How would that work?

Would you be selling me the 2 Blades and hosting them for me?
If so what kind of price are you looking for?

or

Are you offering me a Cloud Hosting type service on 2 of your Blades without me owning the hardware?
I wouldn't be so interested in this but may change my mind if the price is right Smiley

What I am really looking for is Hosted Hardware that I can have shipped to me when the time is right, I hope that makes sense Smiley

All the best
Deja

I could do Hosted Hardware that I sold to you. Or cloud.

If you are in the 50 states  shipping in the future while hosting in the short run is easy.

If you are out of the USA  cloud  only is easier.  Due to high overseas shipping.

Let me know where you would want them shipped.

I can try to figure a cloud only price and I can try to figure  a host then ship later deal.

Best regards Phil

Cheers Phil,

I am UK and SE Asia based so I guess the shipping would cost quite a bit.

Although that being said, I wouldn't mind paying the extra for shipping at the time if it's not too expensive and the price of the hardware is reasonable, I hope this makes sense  Smiley

Let me know your best price for both and we can go from there Wink

All the best

give me  a few hours to mull over a price.

No problem.

I'll check back in the morning, it's getting late here now Wink

All the best

well the other person is offering you a black widow at .9 btc

that is better then I can do. two gridseeds hosted for 90 days is about 70 usd in power at the 15 cents a k watt that i pay. not minding labor  the labor.  etc.  the best prices I have paid are 400 a unit x 2 = 800 plus the 70  so at 870 usd for 90 days.  my profit is zero.

now I mined the two newest for about 11 days that would have been 12 ltc  or about 102 usd - 6 for power = so  96 profit

So if I ask for 870 for 90 days of hosting  and you own them.  I make 96 .once I ship the two they will be about 96 to ship

the other guy is giving you a better deal with the black widow.

If we can get the more thz running only 1,5 or 2 weeks after the x-3 delivers then I would say yes. Of course I hoped personaly to already run in feb.

yeah but maybe pretty soon.  and with the antminer s-3 looking a bit less then is was advertised maybe out huge bust here becomes a medium bust.
42272  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How high do you think the S3's will clock to? on: July 14, 2014, 05:47:31 PM
looks more like how low is the better option.

say 400gh and 280 watts  buy an extra set. with your coupons.

I am looking at this option over any other option.
42273  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which ASICs are least loud? on: July 14, 2014, 04:10:08 PM
if you under volt and under clock the s-1's  to 140 gh and 180 watts they are really quiet.

fans drop down to under 1800 rpm .  you can find used ones cheap.

links to help you decide if you want 50 of them

42274  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: AntMiner S3 - [Kind of A] Group Buy - Credit Cards Accepted! on: July 14, 2014, 03:16:50 PM
I have an E-mail in to BitMain to see how the coupon can be redeemed, and go from there. I can't really make a decision until I have an option to utilize with their company. For example, I have no clue when Batch 4 would commence to apply a coupon towards, so there's a potential gamble for my company there. But as soon as I get word from BitMain on how I am to proceed, I will contact everyone that's ordered, and make a decision on future sales/ect.

LIKELY, what I will do is give the full 10% discount to everyone that has ordered by the end of the day, assuming BitMain informs me of the coupon options by EoD. So I would suggest to order now, as I am near-certain that unless BM screws me over (which is unlikely), I will drop the price to $450 for everyone that has already paid.. But likely keep the price @ $500 for new customers as I am still selling them at a reasonable speed.

An understandable move.  Most likely I will end up buying two in batch 4 and use the coupons from them.  I had preferred only 3 pieces two from them and one from you.  But with them giving me coupons I will end up buying two from them.

Good luck with your remaining units on sale.
42275  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 14, 2014, 03:12:14 PM
Hello everyone,

When we were doing the first mass production, we found that not all of the S3’s DC/DC module could be stable enough to support the 478GH/s speed. After long time testing, all of the S3 run stably at 441GH/s, which however is 7.7% less than the 478GH/s we have announced.

So we decide the final specification of ANTMINER S3 here:

Hash Rate: 441 GH/s or more
Power Consumption: about 340 Watt at the wall when running at 441GH/s
Power Efficiency: 0.77 J/GH on wall
Power Supply: 12V DC
Size:  331 mm x 137 mm x 160 mm
Fans: Two 14038 fans mounted on both front and back ends.
Operating Temperature: 0 °C to 35 °C
Complied with: FCC / CE
Network Connection: Ethernet

Many of the customers may be lucky to find that their S3 can be overclocked to 478GH/s.

We apologize for this incident. We offer two options for customers:

1)   10.0% worth of coupon for the B1~B3 customers. This is the default option. (10% based on what you have paid for the B1~B3)
2)   7.7% worth of refund. We will release a function on our official website for application of this option. If you have bought from our resellers, please contact them and provide your Bitcoin address.

Shipping schedule updated:

Batch 1: The shipping will be finished in 14th and 17th.
Batch 2: It will be shipping out between 18th and 19th.
Batch 3: It will be shipping out between 19th and 22nd.

Anyone able to explain the bold text above?
What was causing the DC-DC module to become unstable and stable in some?
Anyone capable of pouring some technical or theoretical explanation for this phenomenon?

sure chips and most caps resistors whatever are -+ 5%  so the modules built had a lot of -5 % parts in them.

happens in the best companies.  INTEL has been making cpu chips that vary as much as 10% for overclocking.  why not the dc to dc module here have a larger then desired variance.

I am all the more likely to run mine at 400gh and hope for 280 watts.

okay now that bitmaintech has announced the gear will not hash at 478 it will hash at 441.  and they offer a 7.7% refund or a 10% coupon  what does your 500 usd price turn into?

Note I have not purchased one from you as of yet.

So  will you drop  5% to 475  keeping a piece of the cash refund for your self

or do you drop    7% to 465    keeping a very small part of the refund for your self

or lastly do you go to 450 giving the full total coupon discount.

Not to fault you this is why preorders suck.

I have 2 on order with bitmaintech.  I ordered them in the first 20 minutes of batch 1.

I need to know your plans  for the refund/coupon  that bitmaintech is giving to you .  I then need to figure do I order 1 from you at a better then 500 usd price.

Or do I take 2 coupons from bitmaintech and buy in batch 4.

Thanks for your reply.

phil

Hi,

I was unaware of this. Let me contact BitMain to see what can be done, as we wired the money to them a few days ago. If they can give me a 10% discount on what we ordered (and, say, throw in extra units to me), then I will try to drop the price to you as well.

thanks for reply.  It happened last night bitmain's post is here:

C'mon haven't you learned anything? It's an obvious scam. Shipping in July, but only rendered photos? It's so obvious.

Edit: No team, no real address, no real demo etc. SCAM!

I figured as much. But I was looking for more opinions. The paypal option made it a bit tempting, but most likely I would tie up 4500 for a month before I get a refund.
42279  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: I stumbled upon a minerscube website the deal appears to good to be true. on: July 14, 2014, 01:13:16 PM
If you believe they have come out with 5 TH/s units at 825 Watts, I have some lovely ocean front property in Nebraska I would like to show you. Joking aside, there is no way that is true and is most likely a scam.

My feelings exactly as the btc price is 6.5  which is 4100 usd much less then the paypal price of 4500

They get 20 or 30 fools dumping btc at them and they do okay.
42280  Bitcoin / Hardware / I stumbled upon a minerscube website the deal appears too good to be true. on: July 14, 2014, 01:03:54 PM
Okay minersbox  offers minerscube  a 5th unit with 825 watts of power.

They offer shipping the end of july and they offer paypal.

price is 4500 usd

who the fuck are they?  scammers?

I do not even want to put the link as I fail to see why they would sell it  if it gets .165 watts per hash.

hell just mine it.  I also struggle to believe a 20nm chip would be as low as .165 watts a hash

Anyone know anything about this.

It truly appears to be too good to be true.

Please don't buy into them because you read my post.

I was tempted to buy one  due to the paypal offer.

If I wait until the 20th of July and place an order my payment would not be due until sept 12th.
If they fail to ship by august 1st I would put a claim in against them.

They offer it for 6.5btc  =  4100usd

I guess they just need   20 btc buyers to make the scam worth it.
