If this x-3 ever ships I could see a small return.  maybe 400 or so on the 650.  Waiting
"small return" - how it works? It is not possible. Mathematic (b)asics are so smart.

For me to turn a profit or a small profit .  It needs to be 500gh and 800usd a coin and start to hash on JULY 7 = No way.

I purchased 200gh and have been promised 300gh so I am far short here.

________________---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------____________

###################################################################################
_______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________

I think you misunderstand me.    Or maybe I should have been more clear.   I will write this a different way.

If they ever hash for me for my 650 put in I could get back 400.  That is a loss of 250, but I still had 400 of the 650 returned.

I do not hope for more then 400 of the 650 at this point in time.

I hope to have a loss of 250 rather then have a loss of 650.

As for basic math it does not apply yet.  It can't be applied until the gear is hashing.  I spent 650 usd to purchase coins to buy the gear.
So my numbers are all in usd.
I ordered 200gh. Which has been promised to be at least 300gh.

We both know 300gh hashing today does not earn much usd  (remember I am all usd )

but if the gear starts to hash July 7th  and if btc is at 800usd  I will get about 400 usd returned to me.  thus a small return and not a profitable one at that.

this is really optimistic  and get me 400 returned a negative at best.

other cases all come out bad. say they give me 500gh vs 300gh  that still does not work.

another   500 gh not 300gh but coins stay at 600 usd  I get back 470 of 650

42542  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: June 29, 2014, 03:22:36 PM
dosn´t matter,
they have mined already 330BTC with own pool.

so if it costs them .5 million usd to design new chip and new pcb.

then  they built 10,000 of them to get that 4.6ph pool. the 10000 built = 125 usd each or 1.25 mill

that means they are on the hook for 1.75 mill for the first 10,000 units  .  I would think I am under with that not over.

say they earned   330 btc = 200,000  usd.   Spent some power

That means 1.55 mill for 10,000 units   or   the absolute lowest is 155 usd   say 45 to ship =

200 usd  and they break even

my guess is more like 300 usd to break even.

 So   sell  at 600 usd  (not 1 btc)   = 100% profit  and they crush Am's Rk-box .

Is Any thing above  600 usd  pure greed on their part  ?  no  and why is that   ?

They will   price higher to see how many of us feel Froggy enough to jump at it.

Ie market testing at no cost  (since if we don't buy they mine at a profit).

This is a very interesting time for BTC……..

Here is a number  game you can do with a calculator.

pretend there are 126ph hashing   that would be 1000 1th machines for each ph   or 126,000  1th machines

convert to these .5th machine and you get  252,000  with no other hashing gear.

if they were 1 btc each  the price for the gear hashing would be   252,000 x 600 = 151,200,000  usd

 they would burn 252,000 x 390 watts or 98,280,000  or 98,280 k watts

we all know  that the gear on the market is not all these alone and is  far more costly then the 151 mill above.

we also know the gear right now is worse then .78 watts   much more like 1.5 watts on average

so 2x the power = 200,000 kwatts

hurry  up and lets get these sold out.  Bitmaintech is not going to sell any s-3's  until these are gone.  We need these to get purchased.

Thanks newar! So DrH, which needs updating - the pools list or the Bitminter first post?

I thought Bitminter was listed with merged mining already.

Looks like the pools list needs updating. Bitminter is merged mining namecoins.

I have been getting them from you since I joined here in Aug 2012

Anyone want to trade a BA pre order for a BFL pre order??

WOW  Shocked  That's what I call irony  Cheesy  Not much difference, cept that BA is actually shipping & BFL still have at least "2 weeks™",er......2 months  Cheesy

Pretty funny when you think about it.

I actually was fully refunded by BFL  14 months after the fact.

I now await some action here as I have a small amount of usd tied up 650 usd.

In the Dz coop round 17.   If this x-3 ever ships I could see a small return.  maybe 400 or so on the 650.  Waiting
42546  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Why do Difficulty increases feel like being ass raped?? on: June 29, 2014, 08:14:16 AM
soon prices will rise to account for the rise in difficulty, just hold on tight.  Cool

Ridiculous. There is absolutely no correlation between mining difficulty and BTC exchange rate.

you can believe that if you choose to .  Many don't think you are correct. I think you could be correct.    So I will toss this one out.

No  30 year fed bonds that pay 8% are for sale.

8% interest is no longer available .

The entire BTC/ Alt coin  creation was a reaction to the worldwide lowered interest rates.

Since these coins offer a chance to get better return rates as long as interest rates are very low  these coins have the potential to jump back up to 1k and beyond.

Since the market cap for BTC is well under 10 billion  3 or 4 large speculators can push the price over 1k pretty easily.

42548  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Best Share with an Antminer U2 on: June 29, 2014, 04:17:45 AM
I was just wondering if anyone ever found a BTC block with less than 10 GH/s.
I know that's nearly impossible to find a BTC block. It's like playin the lottery Wink
Have I found a block with my U2s?  Nope.  Am I trying?  You bet.  I solo mine with my 5 U2s.  Running on a Raspberry Pi, there's virtually no cost.

Best share I've seen on one of them?  98 million.
johnnybravo0311 - Did I read correctly?  You Solo Mine with a Raspberry Pi?
/..
I am looking for info on Solo Mining with a Raspberry Pi - But all I seem to be able to find is "Pool Mining".
How do you set yours up for "solo Mining"??

he may just use bitsolo.net    easy to do.  it is a pool that gives the block maker the entire block   ..    they have paid one block so far.

http://bitsolo.net/

http://bitsolo.net/pool-stats/

up side easy to do

down side  === the pool operator may be able to rob you if you hit a block.

Note :  most any pool operator can do a no payout of coins.

if bitsolo does that  and the person that hit the block talked about it here it may kill off the pool.
42549  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Could Bitmain be driving the latest spike in hashing growth with Antminer S3s? on: June 29, 2014, 04:00:16 AM
I don't see how upgrading an S1 would be cost effective. I guess it depends on the chip cost and work required to replace the existing chips vs selling the S1.

you would not replace the chips - you would replace the two PCBs and keep the fan/frame/heatsink.

Its not viable until the S1 is worthless (another 2 months if you undervolt or have cheap power), but would save about $20 in raw materials ($7 fan, $13 aluminum), maybe $5 worth of assembly time, and about $40-60 on shipping. Overall it would be a savings for bitmain of about $60-80 and probably passed on to buyers as a $40-60 discount over an assembled S3.
IT would be cool it the upgrade was a new controller and two new s3 boards with the controller able to control all four boards. 2 x s1 boards undervolted and underclocked plus two s3 board. giving you around 600-700gh/s@approximately 600watts

won't be that. it will be 2 pcb boards no more no less.  pull the heat sink and run.

but if you buy a kit and use a board on one s-1 and the second board on a second s-1 it may be a better move.

  the  2 underclocked pair of s-1s at 140 gh each and 180 gh watts .    = 280gh and 360 watts  1.28 watts a gh

 become     320gh   and 285 watts  each  .   or                                      640gh and 570 watts   .89 watts a gh

you only buy 1 kit not 2 kits

  A  pretty good boost for   ? 500?

I have 3 s-1's  running in a low cost   spot    if this works  it is cheaper then any option especially if I can sell the 2 pulled boards on ebay.

my spot is using 3 units at 420gh and 560 watts.

the one  kit   would jump me to  780gh  and 750 watts.

I could do that   same sound not louder big hash boost to keep up. Waiting for a kit price.

Hey everyone buy those s-2 out   now!

Done a quick calculation on ROI and   Undecided

"yep  it is tough ain't it"

mining gets dead spots like this.

so  buying some coins .  maybe 100 LTC  and 2 btc  may be better.

I rarely push buying coin over mining.  I do both.  but just saying  coins look better then mining does today.  in a week ?

It's like a roller coaster Smiley
Mining BTC will be viable only for big players who can buy cheap equipment or people with cheap/free electricity. Only money I have made with mining was on LTC and that was 1 1/2 year ago. Past 7 months I'm more mining BTC but I'm still in red numbers and with current difficulty increase I think I might as well call it a day.
It would not be that bad if scamer didn't rip me off with simple trick (dot behind the user name) Sad Lost 4 BTC that way.

4 btc is a lot.

So far  I have been clipped 0.4 btc  by bips

.01btc by an exchange forgot which one.  and   still waiting on about 650 usd worth of black arrow gear.

but I hit the sept 2013 to nov 2013   100 usd to 1000 usd run up really well.  and I hit the march 2013 to april 2013 run up really well.  hoping for one more run-up.

my deal with lee a 1th  dragon was timed well.  i should make 500-600 on a 2800 out lay  which is  about 20% in 5 months.
42551  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: June 29, 2014, 03:21:37 AM
I noticed today that GAWminers is now selling the Rocket Box on their site for $699.95 with a ship date of July 7th.  I don't see them listed on the rockminer agent list though.  I'm considering buying one since I have $250 credit with GAW; yes, no? I've purchased a Black Widow from GAW before, I'm wondering if that's worth buying or waiting on the S3 price.

thank you, kiss kiss

so 350 net?

that is pretty good for 450gh.

do you have a psu that will power it?

do you have a decent usb hub?

If yes to those questions I would do it.

Gawminers still allows cc to pay so you have a nice safe order.

I did the above with my 250 credit but I got an s-1 about 2 weeks ago. it was 300 -250 = 50 bucks net.  I sold it on ebay for 350 as I included a psu and a second fan.

bitminter has my bitcoins/namecoins and site staff/ owner is ignoring me

I was a little behind on support messages.

I wasn't ignoring you or trying to steal your coins. Don't you think it was a little early to assume so?

Happens we have all pushed that button once in a while when it comes to BTC/ Alt coins.  Myself included.

Don't use any of the scripts that were pointed to download from dropbox as it will leave your S1 without an asic-freq file.  Dropbox will re-direct the S1 during download to https which the S1 wget does not support.

There is no more "easy way" method of copy and paste.  I can probably create another one, using another site that supports http or ftp; but it's not worth the effort (imho) as 90% of the S1's are already overclocked, and there's the good ol' fashioned way which is to edit via   vi editor.

I'm planning to turn off my S1's in the next 2 months.  I think many people are in the same situation.

Please see this thread for overclocking to different frequencies:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=589429.msg6460009#msg6460009

Just pencil mod and underclock your S1's and you will get a bit more life out of them. I was getting 120 Gh/s @ 140 Watts and I was able to mod each S1 and tune the freq in under 5 minutes each (after the first one).

I can manually change an S1 freq under 60 seconds  Grin

this is true   my 3 at 420gh total and 560 watts total   will out earn my power cost until Jan of 2014

( I have about 800 watts available for about 3 cents a kwatt)

but even at 15 cents a kwatt these s-1s will out earn  power until sept.

23% diff jump 15 cents a k-watt 600 a coin

15% diff jump 15 cents a kwatt 600 a coin

yeah  this used to happen to me when I would sell fullsized pc's  …

Perfect boxing on the outside just like yours.

Then when some one would drop the box 5 to 8 feet the shock would tear the gpus loose , tear the heat sink off the cpu  maybe bend the psu

out of its brackets.

I found I needed to use a few rolls of pink bubble wrap inside the case.  Typically an extra 10 dollars a pc.  Just for the bubble wrap to

pack the gpu's the  cpu and the psu so that  they could not tear loose.

I also had to pull the motherboards cable loose so no one would start the machines filled with the bubble wrap.

(you would think a guy buying a 2k pc would know better)

needless to say  I stopped selling the bigger pieces of gear.

so if my 500 mh  at 1000 watts  turns into 400mh at 2000 watts I am fucked hard and dry.

I am not into that.

good one

btw I just an email from gawminers with an offer for 15% off.   came on friday  with a 2 hour window to use the 15% coupon

S5J8L4HVEPS  code for the 250mh model

H82NV6X5ZF code for the 500mh model

and two hours to use the codes which expired when I went to see if they work.

So you rush me to buy a piece of gear that can come as late as OCT and not be late.  Good luck with that promo

42558  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Historical mining calculator? on: June 28, 2014, 02:32:23 PM
Is there any software/site where you can enter two dates in the past + hashrate, and get the result how many BTC was mined in the period between these two dates?

yes but not exactly .  You can go to bitcoin wisdom calculator  and play around with settings.

Lets say you want Jan 1 to March 1 2014 .

An antminer s-1  set at 200gh.  you do this.

go to this link.

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

determine the diff on jan 1 2014.

 it was  1,180,923,000 for 1 day jan 1                                 1 day 200gh earned .08517  x 1 = .08517

it was   1,418,481,000 for 11 days jan 2 to jan 12                1 day 200gh earned  .07091 x 11 = .78001

it was   1,789,546,951 for 11 days jan 13 to jan 23               1 day 200gh earned .05621 x 11 = .61831

it was  2,193,847,870 for  12 days jan  24 to feb 4                1 day 200gh earned .04586 x 12 = .55032

it was  2,621,404,453 for   12 days feb 5 to  feb 16                1 day 200gh earned .03837 x 12 = .46044

it was  3,129,573, 175 for  11 days feb 16 to feb 28               1 day 200gh earned .03214 x 11 = .35354

TOTAL------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.84779 btc for jan 1 to mar 1 not including mar 1

A shit load of math for someone that wants to get an idea of what the gear earned

Thanks for the replies.  I guess I will try it again another day or something.  Just sort of intimidating for me (like the first time you change a spark plug or something, your afraid your going to break everything.)

the key to it is do not muscle the pencil  .  2 or 3 medium pressure strokes  on each of the 8 resistors. the ohm's should drop from 4.47k to 3.2k or so

then set freq at 325 300 or 275 or 250.

check the freq got set  at one of the above.  then check your hashing make sure the hw are pretty low    1 out of 80 or better is good.  make sure no x just o   on the two asic lines.  if there are a lot of x  try a freq lower..

I started with 325 on all three and it sucked.

Then 300 and only 1 was good no x's 1 out of 75-80 errors.

Then 275 on the other 2 they were good no x's and 1 out of 110 errors.

well it would be funny if we get the 100gh and coins go back to 900-1.1k.  we would actually turn a usd/fiat profit
