4281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Big Vern Thanks You on: June 11, 2016, 05:56:37 PM
So did he ever relase the funds that got verned?

I still have some bitcoin and other coins in the exchange. When can we get hold of our own money?

The American courts have appointed some administrators, and they have seized what has remained on Cryptsy's servers. But it will take time for them to find the keys and return a portion of it to customers.
4282  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why we do not need a woman president. on: June 11, 2016, 05:48:41 PM

I have said this since 2007 and will til I die. Think about every woman boss or supervisor you have ever had. Some friendly some not regardless of personality the fact is your day was dictated by her mood. If she was in a bad mood you knew it and if she in a great mood you knew it. She would make it a hard day or a kick back day her call she's boss. Do you really want this in a president.
Get mad if you want to ladies. Facts are what they are

What a load of bunk. In Britain, our best ever periods have been when a woman was in charge. Think Elizabeth I, under whose leadership the Empire was born, the Spanish Armada defeated and Shakespeare, Ben Jonson and Christopher Marlowe thrived.

Or think Margaret Thatcher, who revived Britain from a sorry state by force of will and by hand-bagging silly people who hindered Britain's growth. She too won a war decisively, the Falklands war, which is pretty much the last war a western power has been seen to actually win.

Women leaders are great.

Thatcher destroyed the unions, Unions that paved the way for better wages, she sold many UK business to private enterprise.
Fuckin witch needs to be dug up and her bones scattered to the four winds.

If you watch this video you will not only learn a few things, you will be quite disgusted as to what has happened to this country.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYO8Dx1Lmi8

I still fume what she did to the miners, the dockers and everyone else she put out of work.

Thatcher saved the UK. The unions had trashed the country so badly that Britain went bankrupt in the 1970's and the markets wouldn't lend to it, and the then Labour govt had to go crawling to the IMF for a loan. The IMF then imposed the most crushing austerity Britain has ever known - and that all took place under a Labour govt.

By contrast the Thatcher era was one of plenty, especially after 1985 when her reforms started to take effect. As for the miners - they were doomed - global warming made coal use dangerous, and of course we first found out about global warming in the 80's.
4283  Economy / Speculation / Re: BREXIT. What will happen to Bitcoin if Britain leave/ stay in EU? on: June 11, 2016, 05:43:54 PM
Has there ever been anything approaching an 80% turnout? General elections are rather important and don't get that much. I think the exit fans will be more committed to voting too.

For the Scottish Referendum numbers hit 85%. In parts of Scotland it was 92%. I feel turnout for this referendum will be just as high.

"Bitcoin is actually unchanged since many years ago: What is different is the focus of the media," says Peter Leeds, the author of "Penny Stocks for Dummies." In it, Leeds mentions bitcoin as an example of what he calls "an investor stampede."

"Much – almost all – of bitcoin's rise in value was driven by the standard media cycle," Leeds says. "And as the story became old news, coverage levels diminished and the currency faded into the background."

4286  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you still trust this rally? on: June 11, 2016, 11:44:53 AM
It seams to me that push is exhausting itself and there is no real steam to break $600. It looks increasingly possible that we go back to the $400 range shortly. Thoughts?

I agree. Basically every time the price moves to $600 the blocks get full and the speculators then start fretting about the backlog and taking profits.
4287  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Germany is crying! "PLEASE DONT GO!" boo hoo! boo hoo! on: June 11, 2016, 11:29:34 AM
Well they should have been more open to the renegotiation. I think most Brits were like "we'll stay if there is serious renegotiation", but it was so pathetic that people feel the EU is beyond reform and it's pointless continuing.
4288  Other / Politics & Society / Re: London's mayor is a muslim! on: June 10, 2016, 04:38:50 PM
So much for the people saying that Britain shall leave the EU for fear of a muslim invasion from the continent. The muslims are already inside, and they are winning elections. But considering the British have caused so much havoc in the Middle East, creating the Iraki kingdom with a foreign Sunni king no local wanted, creating Israel against the Palestinians, I guess it's only justice that muslims conquer London today, and the whole of the UK tomorrow.

The UK is doomed, and I certainly won't cry for it. My worry is that the EU is being caught in a squeeze between muslim Britain and muslim Turkey.

I think you are mixing up the UK with the US.  People don't really care too much what religion you are in the UK, they just want to be able to control the number of people who come in as we are pretty overpopulated already!

I don't think a British mayor has any power of control regarding immigration, but I see the mayor of London as a lighthouse for all muslims everywhere in the world. They've seen it's possible to be successful in Britain, and they will all want to immigrate to the UK, now. Algeria or Morocco aren't democracies. There's a ruling class there, and by seeing how open (to foreign cultures, ideas and people) the British society, all young men in North Africa will be even more willing to move to the UK.

But how would they get in, if we're leaving the EU? We're an island with a nice deep moat.
4289  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoin supported/backed by militia on: June 10, 2016, 03:03:31 PM
The answer is a flat NO. In order to have a militia you need a centralised org controlling the militia - and that's the exact opposite of the purpose of bitcoin.
4290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPal Stops Operating in Turkey, Online Payment Sector Turns to Bitcoin on: June 10, 2016, 02:14:45 PM
Well a Turkish bitcoin exchange has been set up:

So they're good to go!
4291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we still say that BTC transactions are faster? on: June 10, 2016, 02:12:48 PM
Everytime the price rises, there is a backlog of transactions - I'm pretty sure this is the reason the price drops back down again. Bitcoin will continue to struggle until this is resolved, and I'm amazed it hasn't already.
4292  Economy / Speculation / Re: What was the cause of recent price dump? on: June 10, 2016, 11:02:12 AM
What is that like $5?  Sweet dump...

like $14

apparently it is a different world in bitcoin-cny market!
you see the topic saying dump and we check the market and see the price is almost the same $570 as it was before so maybe it is because of the difference of price (according to google 3875 cny is ~ $590)

That's true. USD amount is now meaningless.

over 90% BTC is traded in CNY.. I think..

if it was meaningless the price of bitcoin in USD would have gone up to match the price in CNY not the other way around.

besides it is not 90% of the market and the high volume there is because of the zero fees which lets them trade easier. and the rest of the world is trading USD.

You guys know that the Chinese yuan isn't free-floating but instead is pegged to a basket of currencies (dollar, pound, euro, yen and swiss franc). That's why the movement was so closely correlated.
4293  Economy / Gambling / Bitcoin Sportsbook Operator Sportsbet.io is Ready for the Big Euro 2016 Kick Off on: June 10, 2016, 10:25:30 AM

4294  Economy / Speculation / Re: BREXIT. What will happen to Bitcoin if Britain leave/ stay in EU? on: June 10, 2016, 09:50:01 AM

Gov  is silently counting for brexit to scrap HUMAN ACT right and they looking to exchange with british bill of rights. And trust me you dont wont that to happen.

Do you have any more information about that ?

There isn't any information about it because a) the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) is SEPARATE from the EU and not affected by countries joining or leaving the EU  and b) in order to remove the Human Rights Act the govt has to pass a bill in Parliament, and they don't have the numbers for that, their majority is very small and a number of Tory backbenchers will rebel.

The Remainers are either deliberately spreading FUD or they are confusing the referendum with a general election and genuinely believe that on Brexit the Conservative majority will triple and all sorts of magical bills will suddenly get waived through Parliament.

4296  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Drug That Killed Prince Is Making Mexican Cartels Richer, U.S. Says on: June 10, 2016, 09:16:52 AM
Well, until more of these drugs are legalised and taxed the cartels will continue to make money. The war on drugs, is essentially America fighting a war against itself. If the demand is there, people will find a way to buy these drugs while jumping through all sorts of hoops to get it.

If it was legalised it could be taxed too. Nice source of revenue for govts. Plus all the attraction that comes from doing something illegal would go away and users would drop.
4297  Economy / Economics / Re: What Country Has Most Of The Bitcoins? on: June 10, 2016, 07:36:44 AM
If Satoshi is really Craig Wright, then the answer is Australia. And the Winklevii are sitting on a lot of bitcoins (they are Americans).

Traders don't count because they buy and sell within a day, so a lot of churn.
4298  Economy / Speculation / Re: What was the cause of recent price dump? on: June 10, 2016, 07:34:28 AM
Plain old profit taking. Bitcoin is up 155% since Jan - that's bubble territory. So some people in profit crystallized those profits. As the Rockerfellers used to say, no-one ever got poor by taking profits.
4299  Economy / Speculation / Re: Nasdaq: "U.S. Election Puts $1,000 Bitcoin Within Reach" on: June 10, 2016, 06:41:02 AM
More importantly, George Soros, who made his billions shorting the financial markets, is now putting his money on another global depression:

http://www.wsj.com/articles/a-bearish-george-soros-is-trading-again-1465429163

Yeah, that would make BTC more valuable, and as much as I want that to happen, I hope it doesn't happen because millions of people are negatively affected by a global recession. Still, BTC should be a safe haven. If you want untraceable currency, get Monero.

Soros is putting his money in gold. I hate to bring this up, but bitcoin won't hit $1000 without a blocksize increase. The idea that millions of people will rush to bitcoin, put up with massive transaction delays, and won't complain to the press and media about it, is pie in the sky. As soon as the masses can't send transactions, "bitcoin is broken" stories will appear - and yeah I know it's not really broken but delayed, but customers who are used to stuff happening instantly won't want to go old school and wait for a few days for transactions to clear like in the pre-electronic days. Bitcoin simply isn't ready for the masses, I think the opportunity has been lost.
