4321  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Dragon 1TH blade directly to RPi on: November 19, 2015, 04:42:22 PM
first off, thank you all for helping me on this!

1.  I just took another good look @ the controller card and I would say that its the 1.5Th model (has connection for 2 PSU and 6 serial inputs)

2.  We have swapped several PS's but currently have 2 blades on a CX750 and the 3rd blade is on a 400W Dell server PS.

3.  Just identified one of the serial ports on the controller as bad, when ever a blade is plugged into it, the system will crash within 15 minutes.

4.  Just to make sure I'm not "chasing my tail", but I should be able to run just 3 blades, correct?  Or do I need to run them in pairs?  I was also told that it did not matter what serial ports i used (since this one has 6).

5.  Wareck made me Minera build to try.  Had been using the default version I downloaded from manufactures site.  I will try the Minera build later today.

If it's a 1.5T from lketc you will know it it was roughly 50 pounds to pick up... they but a ton of material in heatsink.   I think whoever you got it from though would have marked 1.5T if it really is to get extra money.

But yes you can run with any number of blades 1,2,3,4 (more on some).  But it makes no difference on odd or even number.  You can do 3 blades only.
4322  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: can this cause a miner to malfunction? on: November 19, 2015, 03:38:01 PM
Not sure if these nasty programs can load anything, but maybe disrupt your connections/mining while trying to connect to the miner that it would perceive as one of your devices:
http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2015/11/beware-of-ads-that-use-inaudible-sound-to-link-your-phone-tv-tablet-and-pc/

Miners should be immune to this. All of the ones I have had do not have a Mic.  So that makes it impossible to receive that sound.

I you used a windows machine to power a miner or a RPI with mic plugged in... maybe they don't release much details so hard to say.  But I doubt they do a miner variant to say switch pools, etc.
4323  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best bitcoin wallet on: November 19, 2015, 02:43:15 PM
Bitcoin wallets is where you store your bitcoins. Without them, you cannot use bitcoins. But, selecting a secure wallet is important. In fact, most important.. Because, losing bitcoins means burning cash.
Now, according to my usage and researches and what I have found. These are the wallets which i found trusted and useful.
(1) Coinbase- they provide more privacy as they have their own privacy team separately. Best thing is that transactions are completely tax free.
(2) Blockchain- It has got the most number of usets. So no doubt on security. It's trusted most by miners too.
(3) Mycelium wallet- It's git very low transaction fees and provides the best backup system for private keys. You can use multiple wallets at once.

What are you meaning by tax free?   As far as taxes any wallet should not be charging taxes.

It would be a government doing that info likely from exchange or such.  But there is not link between a BTC address and taxes, you really need a exchange and to sell and have a profit to worry if it's enough to be taxable.
4324  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Shouldnt we wait for Halving before buying new miners? on: November 19, 2015, 02:30:12 PM
yeah im thinking of picking up 2k worth of coins pre halving instead of spending that money on equipment. Hopefully that pays of better in the long run and btc soars

If that is your plan I would do it sooner then later.   You want as much pre-having  mining as you can get.   If you wait close to having it's hard to say what it will look like then, just to far away to speculate.

But I still think buying mine with them, and at having if you have to sell do it.... this for a lot will make ROI (I believe).  And the selling at end could be a important part on getting ROI as we approach having.
4325  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Nov 11 to Dec 11 SIDEHACK compac stick pool club. New run. on: November 19, 2015, 02:17:20 PM
Mine will have a little down time.  I have had a RPI2 sitting in it's box and was using a RPI model B.   I figure why not give it the upgrade.  So going to install it all over and should end up with a even better compac setup.  The old RPI model B has done a good job though.

It has kept it up for long periods of time without any issue.  I need to see if I also can get a modded HUB.   I'm not sure I will be much of a contender on OC unless I do.  I did add a fan and fan controller for fun incase I do compete in OC comp.   The fan controller was overkill but kinda fun controlling the airflow of my solo miner area.
4326  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 6 Vs Antminer S7, which one you will choose? on: November 19, 2015, 01:26:43 PM
My only issues with Zoomhash are that their warrentees tend to be crazy-short, and they tend to be pricey....

seems like you loose factory warranty?
Could be a downfall if this is so. ...

Actually Avalon is a lot nicer then bitmain on their warranty.  Bitmain a sale through 3rd party kills warranty.

Here is from blockc -

4. Warranty Registration and Transferability:

A. If still within the Warranty Period, Avalon Manufacturer’s Warranty will transfer to the buyer, upon equipment resale provided that the buyer contacts Avalon or BlockC.co to register as the new equipment owner.
B. In order to receive Manufacturer’s Warranty coverage, you must notify Reseller with your contact information, the equipment you are operating, and a description of your operating environment.

So just make sure to contact when buying a machine is how I read it.  I imagine you would need order number (proves it's still in warranty) and other info from original buyer, but most I think would be ok giving it i they are selling you a unit.
4327  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: need help. planning to have $40,000 worth of investment to start Farm on: November 19, 2015, 07:50:10 AM
As the title says. We're planning to invest $40,000 for bitcoin Farm and we're starting from scratch.

We would love to know what will fit for our budget. What Hardware do we choose to start, what will be the in and output, do we need to stick to Bitcoin other than altcoins. Whats other things we should know before my team start building.

We really do hope your kind response and what you have in mind if you had given $40,000 for a Bitcoin Farm.

Thanks,

PS. we have a minor experience in mining. a year ago we started script mining so we know the terms, electric cost, pools and btc trading.

You are asking for someone to plan your entire operation?  I highly suggest a lot more research before spending anywhere near this amount.   You need to have a good grasp a lot of things.

One huge thing is if you have a place with cheap electricity? Do you plan paying a hosting center?  What is building like, where is it at some cooling systems such as evaporation only work in certain areas.   The list kinda goes on.   My best advice is to do some serious research and come back with more specific questions.
4328  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 21.co bitcoin computer/miner on: November 19, 2015, 07:35:54 AM
Overall - I think the author of the article was a little jaded and biased (for whatever reason). This unit is kind of like one of those chemistry kits you may have had as a kid (without a good instruction book).  It's an interesting unit to experiment with and if anything it's a free mining faucet for satoshi to use for whatever you want to do with it. Like everything else in life, it is what you make it. I'm having fun with my unit, but I have no delusions that it will make me a bitcoin billionaire.

I agree it was one sided on it's writing.  But I think the reason is the 399 price tag most likely.  For that a lot were expecting something different.

I think for what you paid the software would have to be almost revolutionary like they made it sound.  So far all the things coming out sound like it was pretty weak as and they used a RPI ... they did not put into a device like they talk about so much.   It sounds like you can reproduce most of it here - https://np.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/3tcvb9/balaji_srinivasan_how_21_mining_works/cx59gaj?context=1 .  I have not tried it but if I can reproduce all of that on equipment I have laying in my project stash... it's not that impressive.

To be honest I not in support of DRM or closed sourced as far as bitcoin software.   But I think being able to reproduce so much for so much cheaper will keep sales low which the price tag already did.
4329  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud Mining - Please help a newbie on: November 19, 2015, 04:55:59 AM
The big problem I see with calculator is it does not mention difficulty's change and how big of a effect it will have.   Sure... it looks amazing when you calculate a year without any increase in hashrate.  But that is unrealistic they should add difficulty change to calculator I would suggest.  Anyone investing anywhere on mining make sure to use one like - https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator where diffficulty is being factored in.

Just like this week difficulty will play a bit role it's shaping up to be  - https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty .  A lot of new gear being pumped out.  And it's almost scary on this change.

Ofcourse it is problem, because for new users it is information about service.

Now i know that this information is useless, but over year ago i thought that it is information about mining capability of this service.

Other words for what is there this calculator? To mislead people!

It all depends the one I linked to is pretty good at giving accurate info, but you have to input data.  Things such as difficulty you cannot know for sure so that is where speculation comes in place.  And some speculation can be off quite a bit.  There is no guarentee of ROI, that is part of mining but also why I like to get hardware myself most of tiime where I own the miner.

As far as https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty it really is not to mislead people.  You just need to learn about bitcoin before using it.  I can see what you mean about being new.  But really if you are new you should read about mining before jumping into it, you have to understand things like difficulty... if not you are not really to point to make good decisions.

I agree if a site uses current difficulty and times it by days .... chances are it's meant to mislead or be used just for this difficulty period. Coinwarz is a good example of one that is not meant to mislead but just does current calculation on mining.  A cloud mining site that uses current mining difficulty and bases a weeks/months/year off of it chances are is trying to mislead.

You have 100% right but i'm not talking about ROI.
When i buy contract there i know enought about mining and difficulty. Wink
At the beginning CM.W was mining approximately like their calculator shows. Everything was ok.

Now shows that 10ghs can mine around 7000 satoshi (like shows before) - i don't have even half with 130ghs.

This can mislead people. Ofcourse they have:
"Note: Calculated statistical throughput is a theoretical amount. ..."
Ok, "theoretical amount" but if difference is 2000% there is something wrong..  Roll Eyes

Just please don't tell me that their rewards are possible because of difficult increasing Cheesy

Please re-read it again I am saying the opposite.  Difficulty increasing is going to push it down.  The site you mention specifically investing in has bashed me before as I don't like the graph they post sometimes showing ROI over 100 percent like it guarantees future.  I think we are thinking the same thing.

I just listed some better tools for calculating that are not linked to any sales.  So they have no reason to mislead.
4330  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best bitcoin wallet on: November 19, 2015, 04:51:19 AM
for me the best is blockchain.info as i dont hold big amounts of bitcoins and its usually online so i can use it whenever i want

if you have backup of your private keys then you will be a problem on your coins being stucked there if they got an issue again, and blockchain.info wallet always have issues, i myself experienced it in the past just in time when i needed to sell some of my coins but i can transfer it coz of blockchain.info is down

In advanced I believe you can get the private keys on blockchain.  So there are way's of sending even if online wallet is down.  But keep in mind even if you do paper wallet from it it's a hot wallet.  So it's not as good as security.  But make sure you use 2fa on it that helps some.

Cold storage is what you want for storing any sizable amount.  Paper wallet if done right really is one of best ones out there.  Assuming you have it stored safely.
4331  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Earning BTC in a 3rd world country on: November 19, 2015, 04:47:53 AM
I live in a 3rd world country i am fairly new to the bitcoin scene but i do earn a small amount of btc by designing avatar and logos some tip for my work others not that polite.
I also earn a small amount of bitcoin.
I don't know what should I need to do to earn more.

You should join signature campaign everybody here in the forum is doing it.

At current level it won't be a huge profit for him.  It's really at full member he will see a good bump in pay for signature campaigns.  I suggest use the first few ranks to learn and make sure to be constructive on posts.  It later on will lead to you getting into better signature campaigns.

Also your posts will not be judged as hard as your learning by waiting.  If you add signature if your posts are very short, one liners, or other things it can lead to a temp ban. So just know that before you jump over. Look at meta they are doing a pretty good job of showing examples in a few threads of some that post just for higher post count.

as i promised i share
Shocked  Shocked  Shocked J7 Chain1 Problem Solving Procedure - TURK isi - By Turgan  Shocked  Shocked  Shocked

You can see pic12F1822 mcu purpose is adjusting I2C voltage tree from the controller FPGA serial data,
but our FPGA program is buggy and it cant send voltage data to J7 connected board.
Now we make a trick and we take it a clean data from right board and put it on to left board.
Using P1 ICSP connector pin 5. Remove R25 jumper resistor on left board then make a jumper wire between P1 pin5.
Connect Left board to J7. Others not important. this is simple.
Finally we can controll all of hash boards and we make s4's profitable (look at my oldest s4 posts for voltage settings)

Have a nice day Smiley

Thanks for sharing! Wish I would have known this when I still had S4s.  Smiley

Same here something like this and the price going up on BTC would have made a decent difference.   I cannot be to sad as I ROI'ed and ultimatly that is the goal of every miner.

But if I would have done this and not sold when BTC was around 230 I could have squeezed a little bit more out of it.  And we always want a little more Smiley.
4333  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What are the most popular miners? on: November 19, 2015, 04:38:37 AM
Mostly any miner from Bitmain or Spondoolies-Tech.

I would not forget about Avalon as they had past miners and have the 6 shipping now.  So they are current aswell.  SP .... they are not really looking for home/hobby buyers currently.

As far as "popular" it's in no way the newest or best efficiency but there are a heck of a lot of A1 chip miners out there.  They come in all forms, shapes, and speeds. So I'm guessing A1 miners rank up there as so many companies were using them at one point.
4334  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Airsoft Gun on: November 19, 2015, 04:31:18 AM
How powerful are these things, like in layman terms? Would the bullet go through a telephone book? A record album? One inch of wood? Like if you shot me in the leg from across the room would the pellet go right in or just leave a welt?
I used to have a pump action air rifle and it was weak as hell. We'd play war and shoot each other with it. So long as you only got hit where you were covered with denim you'd be fine

It can very greatly depending on quality.  Traditionally highest quality airsoft that use gas use like the green gas and stuff, C02 normally follows those.  And if you get into the very high quality they make some very high quality full rifles that are electric.  Me and my friends played paintball and airsoft what seems long ago.  Don't expect paintball like the blood if turned up super high velocity.  But the rifle I paid a few hundred dollars at the time (cant remember was 400-600 range been a long time) it was electric and would leave welts... so they get up there.

I would think this is medium as far as quality with CO2 and no blow-back.  Biggest thing I see is mailing it with the black tip.  Most high end ones come with 2 tips (or they did when I was into it).  They would ship with orange tip on and have black you could put on after receiving it if you wanted.  That is biggest problem I see is no orange tip for transport.

This is a good replica it just with black tip looks a lot like a Beretta 92 with the accessory rail ( http://www.beretta.com/en-us/92-a1/ ). So with black tip most people who know about guns if not close are going to assume it's real and a gun like linked to.... which could lead to problems.   But I guess that might be what some are wanting.  I would just be careful as it is a pretty good clone as far as pictures shown.
4335  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Miners should Start a Union on: November 18, 2015, 11:29:24 PM
A don't oppose the idea, but think of the concept of bitcoin, anonymous. Having unions means regular meetings etc. Not sure if most miners would agree on that mate.

But who are you going to have negotiations with?   A union goes up against a company or such and with a big percent of workforce try to get a certain goal.

With BTC there is no big boss setting the price of coins.  It is set by a open market.   Unless you control the vast majority of bitcoin mining... which would defeat bitcoin.. it would be impossible to do.  A union just does not fit.
4336  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: AntMiner u3 stop working after a few hours on: November 18, 2015, 09:47:13 PM
i set up a time switcher. every 4h 1minute. no problems since 16h..

thanks for your help

Interesting idea I've heard of someone mention it before but never seen it tried.  Please let us know as that is a nice and cheap way of doing it.

I'm currently using software and a R1 to do it.   Its nice and quick to fix zombies but did cost be more then a timer switch.

But if you already own an R1, i guess the timer switch i proposed is a lesser sollution.
From what i heared, the R1 costs a bit of money, but works like a charm. Can you confirm this for the OP, so he know if it's worthwile to buy an R1?

I can confirm if you get from CrazyGuy in thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1197152.0 it works "like a charm" for me.  But he put in a decent amount of time making a custom firmware that his customers can select when buying.   It's this custom firmware that add's the magic, as of now the R1 from bitmain without the custom firmware is not a fix.

But I got lucky and ordered from crazyguy (was trying to save shipping vs buying unit and adapter day one, but adapter turned out not needed for US plugs).  It has saved my time I was wasting with 3 U3's resetting so much.
4337  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newbie help on: November 18, 2015, 09:42:17 PM
What you guys think of a second hand S3 for 250 euro. Are these easier to set up than the USBs

No! Bad. 250 euros is the price of a Antminer S5. Find a way to get a S3 for under 100USD. If you pay more, i understand it might be hard if you pay VAT but its not worth it. At all.

If you can get a S5 for 250euros, that would be a good pick, however.

A S3 under 100 usd is quite hard to find tbh. I search and asked at several places.

I agree 100USD is too much, but it is the market which determines the price.

Also consider the 100 price was with BTC around 230.   With it going up to around 330's it is bound to go up with it.  Just the way the system works.  Miners are worth more when BTC has a higher value.

So at this point it is much harder to get 100 dollar S3, but at 230 you could easily find it some with shipping even.
4338  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is there an up-to-date overview over bitcoin mining hardware? on: November 18, 2015, 09:30:22 PM
Just regularily check the main bitmain site.
They will update it to sell their hardware. I really don't suggest Spondoolies Tech at the moment, their machines are a bit wobbly in the last few batches put out.
Also, I think you just made this thread to spam your site, which is a dick move. If you didn't make this thread just to show off your site then where are you getting your *up do date* info that you couldn't find before this thread.
Another thing, how do you know how to create a website but not find simple up to date mining hardware?

It's not only bitmain.  There are a few options.  Really two main miners shipping the Bitmain S7, and Avalon 6. There are many  miners from previous generations.  There are some smaller lotto miners... but I consider them in a different category myself.

SP gear really unless they change will not be for individual use it's going to take a huge investment.   And no sign they have a working prototype yet.  Also waiting on the B-11 miner but again no sign of working prototype.
4339  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 21.co bitcoin computer/miner on: November 18, 2015, 09:18:54 PM
Ist is possible to mine normal with this hardware to normal Mining Pool?
How much cost the device and what is the Main solution from the device?

to me at 400 bucks go buy a real miner, but that's me and some have said they can build one for around 99 US Smiley .

then again, I'm not a Developer so can't say for sure if that's even a good price for Developers gear .

one other thought  i can see maybe were it would be very useful once this goes live

https://openbazaar.org/

which i hope is soon .!!!

I think the price kills it from  being anything usefull as far as device.  I think they did it to prove they have chips and as prototype.  As far as chips compare this to traditional big miner.... a LOT less chips are used and they get to say they have a product now.  But it's going to be a massive profit for them on any sell.

I have not read anything yet to get me to spend the 400 on it.  I think they could have done better.  I mean to be the company that talks about having mining chips in other things... then comes out with a RPI with top is not all that impressive to me.
4340  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Shouldnt we wait for Halving before buying new miners? on: November 18, 2015, 09:12:51 PM
IMHO a bitcoin price rise due to the reward halving (which halvens the daily output of mined BTC from 3600 to 1800) could compensate for loss of mining gains. But it's risky, that's beyond dispute.

It stayed at 230 a pretty long time on floor.  I don't think you can completely give credit to only having on increase.  It's still a while away in mining terms I still say that far cannot be very  accurately speculated.

But I would love to be wrong and someone have a good speculation.  But i think just to many unknowns.
