I can do 30 with a payback of 33 after 5 days.  What address do I send to?
4322  Other / Off-topic / Re: 1GH/s, 20w, $700 (was $500) — Butterflylabs, is it for real? (Part 2) on: February 14, 2012, 08:21:58 PM
I think it works like that:

1) You promise a great product of great performance at a good price to attract buyers.
2) You let the pre-order list build on, that way, you receive money to build your product. It also give you the option of starting without any money.
3) With the money, you build the product you advertise, using what competitors already offer. From what I see, it's probably this board (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=49180) four times in a nice box.
4) The cost of building the product is probably a lot higher than his sale price. In that case, it cost around 1600$ and sells at 599$.
5) When you build your first batch, you ship them so the first buyers can give feedback.
6) Shipping MUST be slow. It's important later on.
7) The first buyers are indirectly a part of the scam. They are honest people who are going to say to others :"Hey, this thing WORKS! It's awesome, blablabla". The feedback is almost garanteed to be positive.
Cool In the meantime, you can adjust the price if you want. It let you get more money without problems because of the feedback.
9) People who didn't bought into the first batch want to be a part of it now. The price is good, the performance is great, and looking at the feedback of the first buyers, everything is as promised. So, they pre-order too on the next batch.
10) First buyers, getting their promise fulfilled (this box is awesome!) will probably buy another one too.
11) The shipping took a long time the first time, so, on the second time, people will accept the long delay between payment and the reception of their product. People waited two months the first time, they can wait another two months.
12) Wait for the pre-orders, take the money and run. The longer the "shipping" takes, the more time you have to GTFO.

Alternate version:
- You can redo the scam multiple times. You simply need to redo the steps 7 to 11. The second batch buyers will also give great feedback, creating a new wave of batch buyers.
- The scammer will be able to create multiple waves of buyers and increasing his revenue. It's more risky though, because he could find it hard to stop, and it's better if he can control when the scam stop (instead of being discovered). When he decides when to stop, he can use his "shipping" delay more effectively to get out and hide.

Well, I'm interested to see how this will end. Have fun!

Interesting theory.  Though it would be more lucrative for BFL to push the "Rig Box" after basking in the glow of initial positive reviews of the single.

Makes perfect sense Brunic !

Now, where the heck is my RIG BOX Huh

Getting FPGAs that cost $4000 and selling them for $700 ? Rig box getting 1.5x performance compared to 32 singles ? Rejected business license ? Something definitely stinks here.

Why only Inaba gets a device ? Is he VIP ? Part of the "gang". Who knows but I am not buying their BS ...

I wanna see shipping numbers guys and not only Inaba or members of the "gang" from Kansas etc.

B-b-but the grapes... they really are sour.  Why oh why won't anyone believe me???
4323  Economy / Goods / Re: iPod Touch 32GB 4th Gen. on: February 08, 2012, 09:18:49 PM
Scammers can be the buyers too. I've heard plenty of horror stories on eBay people getting chargebacks and having their paypal frozen because of a negative balance.

I can ask someone to use escrow and claim to escrow they sent me a brick and easily get all my money back. I am a honest person but so any random person can claim to be on the internet. I really hope someone lives in Chicago, bitcoins but craigslist style at a chase bank. redeemable MtGox code might be handy. Even cash for all I care. Just a college student that wants to get rid of shit to buy a Samsung Galaxy Prime. Also don't want to have to check more than one bag when this semester ends.

So basically you don't want to use an Escrow.  Got it.  100% scam.  Nothing more to see here, folks.
4324  Economy / Goods / Re: iPod Touch 32GB 4th Gen. on: February 08, 2012, 05:39:03 PM
Anybody who buys this is an idiot.  16 posts, selling an Apple product.  That's a cookie cutter scam.  Dude isn't going to escrow shit.
4325  Economy / Lending / Re: [Found]130 Bit Coin Loan Request! on: February 07, 2012, 05:30:19 AM
This is not the first PM I've received regarding gurg2.0 so I'm going to respond publicly since I'm listed in his signature as a reference. He bought Magic: The Gathering cards from me, and paid up front. The problem is that this was a 0.15 BTC transaction, as I told the previous people who PM'd me about gurg2.0. Can a 0.15 BTC transaction really warrant a a reference?

I do have his address (assuming the address he gave me was correct, he never confirmed that he received the cards) but I don't plan on giving it out publicly. If the people who have been stiffed want to PM me, I'd be happy to give the information he gave me.

In my opinion, it's very possible he accrued a handful of tiny transactions in order to get just enough trust required to get your BTC and run.

Please do not post his address.  We as a community must stand together and enable these people to keep running their scams over and over with absolutely zero threat of repercussion.
4326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: February 07, 2012, 05:04:48 AM
LTCs are a bargain right now considering they're trading for less than what it costs to mine them... at least for my system anyway.  Sometimes I wish I still worked in a computer lab with access to a few dozen desktop machines.

Who do you think was the one that made the original screen cap?  Notice how they blocked out my original URL watermark (the black box, upper left), plus the additional URL watermark (red box below it) from whatever site tried to claim that cap as their own.  So the final pic, the one you linked, is actually the 3rd generation... and the original screen cap is actually older than that, but it's been so long I can't even remember when I made it.  I can't really say what the original URL watermark was, since that would probably give away who I am Tongue

Your kind loving actions are duly noted and the ass kissers are out in force small shock there. BTW the same pyramid scheme you talk about can be applied to bitcoin as well, so stones and glass houses...

SAC, you're on my list of cool people, so don't take this as a slam, but I think you're on the wrong side of the argument here.  ArtForz did the exact same thing with i0coin when it was released.  BitcoinExpress did the exact same thing with SC (or at least BCX was the public face with high likelihood someone else did the actual heavy lifting).  And now Luke did it with CLC.  The first two examples lead to more secure implementations of the alt-coins and gave us a glimpse of what real-world impact a 51% attack has.

The sweet isn't as sweet without the sour.
4337  Economy / Speculation / Re: $7 today, in my opinion on: January 05, 2012, 10:57:16 PM
I predict spikes awfully accurately, don't I... Wink

I'm still waiting on the correction back to $2.5-$3.0 that you claimed was going to happen by this weekend: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=55563.0

There's been a rally for an entire month... time for a correction.  I'm going to predict a target of around $2.5-3 for this correction, but definitely not <$2.  The correction will probably come in the next week or two.

Hi, my name is ineededausername, and today I predict that the price of a Bitcoin will go up.  I also predict that the price of a Bitcoin will go down.

Stay tuned for my spot on technical analysis where I post the exact same thing tomorrow.  That is all.
