4321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your Opinion for the cbitcoin Logo. on: November 19, 2012, 04:16:02 PM
All of the ones in the OP are horrible to the point of unusability.

SubSTRATA's idea is wonderful.

It just needs a hash in front to make it "C".

4322  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: CryptoXChange wait time on: November 19, 2012, 04:07:47 PM
so whats my next step? AFP, ACCC? I'm owed over $1600.

Seems like these guys have run off with the money. I always knew bitcoin was a high risk venture, and I only put in what I could afford to lose, but it's never nice to be caught out by scammers who looked pretty legit to me.

This is why bitcoin will never get off the ground in any meaningful way, there just isn't any reasonable recourse to be had

They have shut down. Seems to me you should contact your lawyer.

October, November, December, January, February...

...and March comes afterwards...

We should do a BFL song.

Like this maybe:

Mama, just bought a rig, sent my bitcoins, half a ton,
pressed a button, now they're gone, mama
Wealth had just begun, but now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mama, ooo, didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not rich again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters

[...]

I see a little silhouetto of a rig
BFL, BFL - will you do the fandango
Electricity costs rising very very frightening me
BFL_Josh, BFL_Josh, BFL_Josh, BFL_Josh,
BFL_Josh imbroglio magnifico

4325  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: scammer tag request on: November 19, 2012, 03:12:40 PM
[Joel Katz] Now, we have to look at both sides of this equation. On one hand one could give the scammer tag to lurk, so that he stops asking for money for gambling. On the other hand lurk not asking for money would eventually lead to satoshidice going broke, which again might not be desirable for everyone. [/Joel Katz]

From what I read this is just pseudo-intellectualese for "Wanna learn language x? Read stuff, watch movies, talk!" which is what they advised us to do in any of the four languages I learned thus far and should be pretty much common sense.

They DO sell coffee for bitcoins now.  Cheesy

But with BTC track records, one wouldn't know if it ever arrives, or when it arrives, if it's not really coffee but cute little pebbles painted brown.
4328  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Very overlooked detail that could catch us off guard. on: November 19, 2012, 02:53:09 PM

Maybe he's deliberately changing his MO so he isn't caught so quick.

Nah. Say what you may about Atlas, he's annoying, he's clueless about a lot of nonBTC stuff while talking with an air of authority, he doesn't know when to shut up, all that, but he wouldn't make a mistake like ignoring the block halving.
4329  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: This is an ex-change (cryptoxchange closes shop) on: November 19, 2012, 02:47:46 PM
Where did you see they are six figures under (as in a net loss of $100K)?

It was a Monty Python Parrot Sketch reference.

They are also really six figures under, or rather one of their victims is: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=85977.0

This is hopefully not what you intend to end up in your book. You should employ an editor or at least invest in a spell checker or something.

Giving out 100 chip buy-ins to the upcoming 5 bitcoin guaranteed tourney in about 2 hours.  Just post a seals username on the thread listed below on my poker forum / podcast site Donkdown: (it can be a burner for all I care) and post on DD, I'll ship the 100 chips, you play the tourney / don't need to send anything back to me / no catch:

what a guy?!?!  Why the generosity?

Always gotta spread the bitcoin love.  Every now and then when I have a good week playing on Seals I'll toss out some coin, hope a guy runs it up and learns about both bitcoin and selswithclubs.

Are you partying because the starfish finally got scammerified?
4332  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Very overlooked detail that could catch us off guard. on: November 19, 2012, 02:23:43 PM

Yeah and Atlas trolling was more on the "meta" level (the theoretical risks of this, the danger of that person being the lead developer, the conflict of interest in the Foundation, etc).   To his (small) credit Atlas showed enough technical knowledge to avoid mistakes like this.

No the OP is a "sub-Atlas troll".

I liked this incarnation of Atlas: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=124125.0

Always bearing the weight of the world on his shoulders, even if it means to win a Wikipedia edit war by thievery.

It has done its last trade. It's six figures under.

http://www.cryptoxchange.com/blog/21/crypto-x-change-suspending-trading-and-returning-client-funds

Aren't cryptoxchange and bitcoinpolice virtually identical? How is this going to play out when they eventually run like everyone runs? Are they gonna grab their own dicks and yell "You are arrested for being too sexy?"

full HTML5 poker engine with the server side (which costs 8k$, we are talking Zynga quality)

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Oh, boy. For 8000$ an auditor wouldn't even LOOK at your code.

I've gotta talk to Zynga and tell them I've found a fool willing to do their coding for a single percentile fraction of their cost.

Nah. Atlas uses periods.
4336  Economy / Securities / Re: NYAN/etc claims thread on: November 19, 2012, 01:07:21 PM
This happens all the time in real life. People buy a few shares of companies so they can join shareholder meetings and ask the questions people don't want them to ask. Anyone who's ever spent more than a minute in real business - not this cargo cult mimikry of a business environment - would know that.

You really believe anyone asking now when asic will come, like the OP, is not a troll? The hardware/custom hardware sections here are safe troll havens.

They are indeed, SLok, they are indeed. Only it's not the people asking questions who are the trolls.
