441  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PeerTrader - P2P Exchange Roadmap on: June 14, 2013, 06:45:46 AM
Thanks. Yes, crosslinking between fiat, and, better yet, precious metals, is an eventual goal.

I'm thinking of maybe an open source, publicly auditable vending machine design which can dispense gold and silver coins in exchange for digital warehouse receipts purchased with Bitcoin. The vending machines could be located in places like Dubai where such machines already exist. The digital receipts can circulate, be split, and combined as a cryptocurrency, backed and always exchangeable for physical metal at a vending machine.

The real obstacle to viability is unfortunately the fiat component.  Your idea nonetheless seems very sound.
442  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / PeerTrader - P2P Exchange Roadmap on: June 14, 2013, 06:33:12 AM
The following is an outline to develop a Free and Open Source, Unhosted, Serverless, P2P Trading System. Please let me know of any suggestions.

I am deciding on whether to offer a bounty or outsource the coding. I have reviewed everything I could find on the forum regarding decentralized p2p exchanges before posting, but may have missed something.

Marketcoin and Bitshares appear to be the closest to what I describe below.

Proposal for P2P Trading Platform Development

        e. returns currencies back to user wallets for cancelled orders

This is the minimum viable product to test market, build-measure-learn iteration 1

If accepted by users, next cycles:

    1. multiple platforms

Thanks for the info, http://coinchoose.com/ is a great resource. Is there a summary anywhere on the different coins, there properties, mining requirements, etc?

Thanks

Yes, see here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=134179.0

It's a great resource for quickly surveying the alt-coin landscape. Cheesy

Thanks. It's been a couple of years since I looked at it, a lot has changed.

447  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ASIC miners - frustrating? on: June 03, 2013, 11:23:06 PM
My guess is that the ASIC chip manufacturers stalled the delivery while mining themselves up to the end of the bubble in mid April. It's pretty coincidental that deliveries started trickling started shortly after. It could be the ASIC sellers were doing this but more likely, the suppliers to the sellers.
