If you cant mine at pool Scrypt altcoins and just convert to Bitcoin, today most profitable coin might be not most profitable coin tommorow, so better convert to Bitcoin fast
Or they might increase more than BTC. I'd say keep them as altcoins if you think it's worth the risk, however switching to Bitcoin (or even FIAT) is the safest way.

Hello and welcome! I suggest you read http://free-btc.net.tf/#!/whats_btc and https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=177133.0, I think it would be kinda what you were looking for. Also, beware that there are many scammers out there so you should be careful where you send your bitcoins. And don't use online wallets since they might get "hacked", you should instead host your own client like Bitcoin-Qt or Multibit.

The weird thing is that I guess there is a way to send the inputs only without paying a fee. Apparently though then there is a chance the transaction won't be processed/picked up byt he miners. I wonder what will happen when the transactions fee gets to be a lot of money (i.e. transaction fee is .0001 but that costs like $50 in US dollars). Seems like it will make it so people won't want to buy anything small with BTC because the transaction fee is so large.
If I understood correctly the transaction fee isn't set in stone, but rather determined by the community. Determined by the miners I would say. But most use Bitcoin-qt fee rules That was what I meant with community, but yeah, I guess I was a bit unclear.

Hello guys,
Isn't there a way to reply just from the beginning on bitcointalk.org? Can't we send someone BTC to unlock the reply button, otherwise it is just a waste of time waiting to post here.
Ciao
You have to wait like everyone else. If you don't like it, no one is forcing you to stay here.

Well seeing as this section only has two mods and from what I can tell accounts are upgraded 24/7 once they hit the four hour mark, there's no manual intervention in upgrading accounts - hence I don't understand the four hour wait ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Well, before they hit that four hour mark, they have to post. And even though the mods themselves don't check all posts, people are usually reporting those that are spamming resulting in them often getting banned before they can spam in other sections. So the newbie section acts like a sandbox, kinda.

Although some alt coins uses the computers for more useful stuff. For example, Primecoin uses their miners to find prime numbers or something like that.

Hello and welcome! I suggest you read the newbie readme to understand more about how this forum works (newbie restrictions etc). Thanks for the link ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) It's a weird restriction, what is the point of it? I admin a medium sized (20,000 members) computer component classifieds forum in South Africa and newbies have no restrictions (other than all accounts get manually approved as we keep an eye out for known banned scammers). I have a thought. I want to keep an online backup of my wallet files, but even though they're encrypted I'm paranoid about security. I was thinking of creating a spanned zip file broken up into three parts which are then uploaded to three different locations (maybe Dropbox, Google Drive and a third? All would use different usernames and passwords). It's just something I thought I'd share. I first got into BitCoin a long time ago (I sold coins for less than $0.02 each several years back, gave away dozens of coins... ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) ) but this is my first time on [Suspicious link removed]o... Hi ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) That's indeed sad Oj0, how many Bitcoins did you sell? Do you have any leftovers, or you sold em all? Far too many. I don't remember the exact figure, but today I'd have been a millionaire many times over ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) Probably, there aren't enough mods on this forum to manually approve the accounts.

Can the activity points go down ?
No, you get one activity point for every post. However, you cannot gain more than 14 points per two weeks.
|
|
|
you need 15 activity points, so just keep posting regularly and in 2 weeks you'll get there.
I guess the rules have recently been changed slightly. So it seems you just need to be active member and post on occasion to be recognized as a constructive user and your account wil be upgraded once the activity reaches 15 points. Welcome! Is there a thread where mods update latest rules for newbies? Check the link I posted, it's the official newbie readme.

The faucet owners mostly earn very little or nothing at all. I'd say most people running a faucet is doing it to promote Bitcoin. There's also some people in there for the profit (advertisement money), but they ain't earning much.

There are many, however, I really don't recommend gambling since you'll just statistically lose money, and you can get addicted resulting in more losses.

Welcome, both of you! I recommend all of you people new to the forum to read this thread since it explains a lot, including the newbie restrictions.
