441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: [ N O T I C E ] Cryptsy withdrawal and deposit holds master thread. on: February 07, 2014, 12:28:55 AM
Bump.

Had several issues with my NET deposits. Eventually all got resolved within 2 days (that's along time)

Had several issues with my DOGE deposits. Eventually all got resolved within 1 day.

Now I am missing 80+ CASH coins. Emailed them they want the TX ID, extremely hard to get from my stupid pool cash.minebig.com because I click on the TX ID a pop up opens up that doesnt allow copy/paste.

Cryptsy avg response time to my tickets is 3~4 hours. Response to emails is quicker.

Cryptsy definitely doing things manually. If I had not caught those by spending hours checking transactions on the pool back to tCryptsy then I would never had received my coins. I think there are many many more transactions missing that I just never caught because I mine directly to Cryptsy and have it on autosell and pools show a limited number of past transactions and I dont know how to use block explorer using only my receive account number.
442  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The big VTC Vertcoin settings thread on: February 07, 2014, 12:14:29 AM
vertminer 0.5.3 on windows 8.1, one thread because the card only has 2 GB. ~160 KH/s ~160 WU. Computer has 8 GB ram. At going rate, ~1 coin per day.

Only 160 kh/s?? That's like 1/3 of what i get mining scrypt with my 270x. I can't justify putting it on VTC if it takes that big of a hit. My 7950's were almost exactly 50% of their scrypt hashrate with no messing around, 33% is just not going to be worth it. I was able to get as high as 223 kh/s on the 270x but HW errors eventually appeared.

You are not taking any hits, everyone is getting 50% hashrate. Doesnt matter what your hashrate is, its an arbitrary number anyway. It onyl matters when you compare it with other's hashrates.
443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CASH] Get your Crypto CASH now! Utilizing Moore's Law (Traded on Cryptsy!) on: February 06, 2014, 10:53:30 PM
Hi Evryone,

Anyone else using http://cash.minebig.com/?

Cryptsy does not show my deposits from minebig.com for 24 hours. The transactions have been confirmed for OVER 24 hours. But this is typical of Cryptsy, they always wait to see if I catch the issue and contact them. So I opened a ticket and they want the TX ID so I can proove there were deposits made.

I go to http://cash.minebig.com/ and the TX ID links dont work.

I emailed minebig.com support and no answer for hours.

Anyone else having this issue? Anyone know who the admin is for minebig?

Thanks!!
444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Netcoin | Scrypt | **No Premine** on: February 06, 2014, 02:58:45 PM
Satoshi took that screw our children concept and created bitcoin. Now there is no way out because no one can write a single piece pf code to change anything here.

I'm not native English speaker so I don't get that sentence, what do you mean by that?

"Screw Our children" means basically stealing from future generation for the current elderly. Its a really bad phenomenon in human history here are a few examples of how older generation Fuck future generation:

American Retirement (Called Social Security) pays more than it earns, so basically its a pot of money where elderly are taking more than the young are now putting in. So when the current young generation get old, they wont be able to get retirement because the system will collapse.

Land Ownership: those who were born sooner have chopped up the planet, signed some paper and now "OWN" that piece of land. This should not be possible. If you buy a piece of land, you shouldnt be able to sell it. Once you die, it should go to a pool and be given to new generation of born kids. Dubai gives free land to their newborn kids. If you are a Dubai citizen and born there, you get free land from government, its yours.

Atmosphere: We are creating tons of monoxide carbon with our cars. Our kids are born to a world that is way more polluted that we are.

Landfills: We are filling the planet with trash and covering it and calling it landfills. Crazy big boxes of milk and water. Stupid. Our kids will be born with 1% of the planet already taken by trash. Whats going to happen after 2000 years? 20% of the planet will be landfills? Actually no, we will run out of resources to build new milk boxes and wars will erupt over natural resources.

We are cutting down trees to build houses, we pollute our waters, we use whatever silicon is here to make computers, phones and tablets that we through away in just a few years in landfills. right now it doesn't feel like a big problem because we just started but after 500 or 1000 years they will hate us for it.

Those were just a few examples of what we are doing now. Our previous generation did similar things and screwed things for us. This is a natural human phenomenon.

By the way I agree, its better for a coin to have many avg wealthy adopters like NET and DOGE than one or two gazillionaires like MOON who will dump and run.
445  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Netcoin | Scrypt | **No Premine** on: February 06, 2014, 04:56:49 AM
Any idea of coin distribution, how much do the 10 or 100 biggest wallets own? I suspect they own a lot, which would make people less likely to want to get involved at this stage anymore. Just look at quark, it's not moving anywhere until the early holders dump it to the bottom.

rewarding the early comers is a flaw in our fiat society, those who bought acres and acres of land 90 years ago (or simply took it over because no one was there) are now rewarded with billion times profit and now the new kids are born to a world where every square inch of land is chopped up and owned by some entity. Unfair advantage.

Satoshi took that screw our children concept and created bitcoin. Now there is no way out because no one can write a single piece pf code to change anything here.

When it comes to NET however, things are different. Its from the days when premining was not common so there is no instamine or premine. Yes there were early miners but they didnt have 600 million coins like MOON. And just like real money, it doesn't have a stupid "theme" so its not just to buy paint or buy gold or buy quark or whatever bullshit theme these coin copycats create (wtf is a theme for in a currency?). It also has a prestigious foundation backing it and promoting it and several websites accept it direct for purchases.

The main reason I think positively about NET is because historically it has been doubling when the halving comes so its a speculative option while pretty steady to own and keep with higher risk/reward than boring BTC and losing LTC. I do consider it the third coin (so do the Chinese lol check this out: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=397035.0 ).

Just in case you are not watching your NETCOIN value, I wanted to mention a big selloff in NETCOIN currently down to 1265 Sat. I am wondering if I should buy more or sell my stash of NET.
447  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: {BFL} Bitcoin miners sue Butterfly Labs on: February 06, 2014, 01:16:24 AM
The first sentence of the article is wrong. I stopped reading right there.

what do you mean ?(

"A local company considered to be one of the top producers of Bitcoin mining equipment is headed to court."

If the first sentence is BS, how can one trust anything else the article says? Wink

They shipped 45000 mining units and single handedly killed their own equipment after they sold them by shipping even more and exploding the difficulty.

Difficulty is a vicious cycle and must be avoided by switching to altcoins. A serious flaw Satoshi didnt anticipate or invested in.

Hello Everyone!

I am planning on purchasing 10 of these 290x cards, (right now Amazon is taking pre-orders for only $579 , usually 290x is in the $720 range, so I need to order these within the next 20 minutes!). I was hoping someone with more experience can help me understand if these are good option for moning Scrypt coins. I am planning on using 5 of these per motherboard with two 1000W + 850W PSUs per MB.

Hey Promoter, is this coin seriously on top of the charts on coinchoose? Or still no blocks found after 417,000?
450  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][MAX] MaxCoin on: February 05, 2014, 10:44:16 PM
Party is over. Coin proved to be a simple copy/paste clone.

Everyone back to mining DOGE now.
451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][MAX] MaxCoin on: February 05, 2014, 10:32:15 PM
The devs still haven't updated the first post in this thread to tell people what's going on, stale launch time, message hasn't been removed.

Probably British, its night time there, hanging out at a local Pub maxing his credit cards so he can pay them off the day after tomorrow.
452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][MAX] MaxCoin on: February 05, 2014, 10:31:11 PM
Why cant these amazingly talented programmers who built alt-coins add a single line of code that Orphans all blocks until 7.30pm GMT tomorrow? WTF this is all a show.

And about their website being down (bad cat) and bitcointalk going 502 thats another show. The developer could simply add a torrent link, problem solved. Let everyone install and run and dont let any blocks approve until a predetermined date.
453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people create new alt coins? on: February 05, 2014, 09:07:06 AM
The best part about these altcoins is that they consume miners hashing power. So please developers, make more coins and take all this new hashing power away on new junkcoins, take them away from DOGE network so I can make more coins here.

OP, your question was not real was it? One example: MOON was premined 600M coins, thats one coin I followed from supposed fake inception (no one could mine when they started the "fair" star except Mr. Developer). The 600M MOON was at one point worth over 200 BTC. Thats $200,000 USD. Not good enough reason?
454  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A philosophical question about Crypto, calculations, "math problems" and rewards on: February 05, 2014, 08:48:56 AM
Shame on you Satoshi for starting such a flawed system and wasting so much electricity and world computing power and making the earth 1 degree warmer every 15 years just from mining at an accelerated rate. There are people not too far from me who dont have or can afford electricity and here I am planning on buying 8 more GPUs and guzzle more. Shame on you for not coming back fast enough to correct its numerous other flaws. Shame on you for creating a system that rewards early comers more than late comers, just like the past 100 years humans split up the entire planet earth and "own" it using a piece of paper and every child is born having to work hard for years to "buy" a piece of it for himself. I use your system and I trust it but I don't have any respect for you. You created a system to fix fiat, but its as flawed as anything else before that. Some made 10,000 BTC in a day just 3 years ago and today some have to spend thousands of $$ and a month to create a mere 0.5 BTC. Just like in my town someone in 1920 bought ACRES of land for a few thousand bucks (still in few hundred thousand bucks when adjust for inflation) which is worth billions and billions of dollars now.
Are you seriously blaming Satoshi for "making the earth 1 degree warmer every 15 years just from mining". Maybe you should learn about thermodynamics a bit more.. Its easy to make accusations but rather difficult to come up with any meaningful ideas of your own.
Bitcoin system doesnt require the hashrate it has right now to function properly, a couple of asics would run the whole network just fine. The increasing energy consumption is caused by peoples greed, everyone wants a bigger piece of the pie. I bet bitcoin is and will be more energy efficient than current money transferring systems.

Lets do a little math here. DOGE network alone currently has 97 GIGAHASHes. Considering my tiny little 2.6MH RIG is burning 1250 including the fan next to it (no cooling fee as luckily its winter) then:

Total Watt Used = 97,000 MH  * 1250 / 2.6 MH = 46.6 MEGA WATTS

Now we have hundreds of altcoins. Litecoin alone has another 100 Giga hashes, thats another 47 GIGAWATTS. We are already up to 90 GIGAWATTS just with two coins. Say BTC is the same and all the other coins combines are 50GW so currently the power used to mine this crap is 200 GIGAWATTS.

How much heat does 200 GIGAWATT of power produce? Now multiply that exponentially in 15 years assuming the power usage will at least double every year. The results are staggering number that are unsustainable. The grid simply does not have this much spare power specially to waste doing nothing whatsoever.

Maybe Satoshi's fault was that he didn't anticipate his system becoming so incredibly popular and resulting in so much power usage so I give him credit for that. If he knew he could've factored in a couple of extra lines in the code to avoid rewards given based on power use so at min he could save the earth from overheating.

The fact however that creating cryptocoin using massive computing power contributes to nothing useful and is simply for creating lottery ticket system was just absurd to begin with.

He just recreated the same old human hierarchy system that elderly screw the young and human chop up the planet, use its resources and leave their crap for their kids to clean up. They also divided up the land among themselves and left an unfair playground for their kids to fight over.

Satoshi even failed to create a system that provides for instant payments, unlike fiat that you can pay instantly.

Heck, he didn't even provide privacy, any transaction can be traced back to its originator using the IP address. So for cops its a matter of submitting a standard judge signed request to the ISP and volla, they are at your doorsteps if they wanted to.

Why is it so popular? It baffles me, but meanwhile, just like all of you, I am burning my wallet on electricity bills and running the rat race making 0.020 BTC/day and I know I have to keep buying more hardware because just a month ago my avg daily was 0.024BTC/day. Time to upgrade my 1 month old rig or get a second one.
455  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MultiMiner Remoting & MobileMiner: Your rigs. Your coins. Your pools. Your way. on: February 05, 2014, 08:15:10 AM
nwoolls, here is a funny request, when the strategy kicks in to switch a coin, can you make the cards switch one at a time like on a 30 second stagger? Its a funny request but I think that way the noise change from the fans would be less noticeable. I had the rig running last night on 15min intervals and I was sleeping in the same room, I think I woke up a lot. I was so tired in the morning as if I had not slept much. During the day my wife was at home and she complained about the same noise issue. I know it doesnt happen when the same coin is still the best to be mined but still happens often.

Also an option to always mine the top two coins only would be great too. Here is why, coinchoose shows litecoin as #3 right now and that is so wrong, litecoin is like the 15th or lower rate coin on coinwarz all the time.

nwoolls, Here is my .bat file for my 1x6970 + 3x7970s, the first part to delete BIN was the best thing I discovered on my own. Perfecting these numbers took about a month. I get steady 724k/s per 7970 card with a few HW errors which is worth it IMO. I could lose 100kh/s trying to save that tiny bit of HW error, not worth it. I hope this helps:

Code:

458  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A philosophical question about Crypto, calculations, "math problems" and rewards on: February 05, 2014, 12:52:05 AM
Here are two examples that could be used to reward crypto coins instead of stupidly waste electricity (which I'm guilty of myself) and also are more interesting than some scanned old books:

1. Place a video cam in your car that records traffic and upload the video everytime if find free wifi. Place humans on the other end to decipher, draw a line around and name the objects in each say 20th frame and make recommendations on what to do if they were driving. Now you have millions of people drawing lines around humans, trees, buildings, curbs, etc in billions of photographs. You can feed the images + the human inputs TOGETHER into a massive database for self driving cars. This will propel humans tens of years forward in that technology. (NO Google autonomous driving doesn't do anything like that, its still an image processing algorithm subject to error specially in the dark, small objects and fast moving objects like a running kid). You reward those who work on these images with a new coin they can sell on Cryptsy. You put checks and balances so less accurate people (or those who corrupt the system with intentionally inaccurate data) are rewarded less or weed out by the next random person checking the first one's work like a peer to peer confirmation system before a piece of share enters the main database.

2. Every time a voice to text system (like Siri but open source) makes a mistake based on persons accent or background noise and types the incorrect word, you send the recording of the voice and the corrected text to a human who listens to these bits of audio and types what was actually said. The errors are easily found because the person normally touches the wrong word, deletes it and types a correct word. This corrected data can help the algorithm perfect itself just like a person learns how to listen to you in a loud rockconcert hall.

Examples in medicine and collective of symptoms and minor disease data where people dont visit the doctors office for them could be huge in tracking and preparing for pandemics and they could actually be done using a basic mobile phone app with little to no computing power.

459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / A philosophical question about Crypto, calculations, "math problems" and rewards on: February 04, 2014, 11:01:37 PM
Why are Cryptocurrencies based on calculating power of a computer?

Why do Cryptocurrencies contribute to massive amount of electricity wasted and billions of BTU in heat generated?

Why couldnt the Crytp algorythem reward blocks based on easier things like time spent or better yet some form of human input that solves an actual problem like CAPTCHAs fix old books being scanned?

Let's not fool ourselves, we don't SOLVE any mathematical problems, we just submit random lottery tickets (called shares) and one gets the reward randomly. Since these tickets are FREE but take GPU power to generate then its up to you to buy more and more GPUs and send more and more and more tickets in hopes of betting a bigger number of reward blocks per day. Maybe if each share cost 1 Satoshi and that would go towards the next block then we wouldn't have ASICs taking over or GPUs heating up and still had a fair playground.

Was Satoshi interested in getting earth warmer? Or Oceans hotter to kill the fish? Or did he invest in Global Foundries? Did he invest in electrical companies? Did he invest in energy?

This sort of waste of billinos of watts of energy will probably go down in history as the most idiotic thing humans have done in the 21st Century. A simple change of logic couldnt swapped the random lottery winning system to a different one that doesn't reward those who throw more money at hardware and waste more of their local power grid (and their cash).

Couldn't coins just get rewarded based on a different system?

Whats KGW?

And by the way, are they working on a Wallet with a more sophisticated virus that no one can find for a while this time? Because last time they were busted as they used a basic virus and the first person installing it caught it and let everyone know here.

Kimoto Gravity Well
originally in MegaCoin, by then adopted by 15 or so alt coins.

Anything sounding remotely Japanese is good for Crypto, like Satoshi, Kimoto, Mt.Gox etc. So me like.
