441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Crypti - XCR - Ͼ - 3 PoS algorithms - Ed25519 - Next Gen New Source - Launched! on: September 15, 2014, 04:42:07 AM
After reading Crypti with an ready-to-invest mindset and 6 BTC in hand, I was a bit dissapointed since a project that received a donation this big havn't exactly progressed that quickly. To be honest, it looks just like another other PoS coins out there with a few twists.

I'm sorry to hear after you read Crypti (not sure what part you read)... You are still having trouble seaperating a Node.js paltform with a reward system set up for lenght of time your Node has been hosted for network activity... As just a PoS coin with few twists... This is not some PoS clone of Bitcoin... It has been written from scratch bc it has to be... Bitcoin code wouldn't work for Crypti... Litecoin, Darkcoin or any other PoS or PoW coin out there just simply changes some lines of the code and launches... That is not at all what you are seeing here from Crypti...

And with all that said projects like this take time... We have a calculated well plained model we follow... We are not here to guess and throw around BTC.. Every move made must be done in the proper fashion... We are not here chasing our tails or the competition... nor are we putting on a fireworks show... We are here to Develop an innovative platform ran by our network of nodes running our wallet software...

It's a bit quite in the thread  Cry

Are you guys planning BOOM/WOW/YEAH thing ?

All needs time Smiley
Soon will be posted Windows wallet, blockexplorer, but i will not post ETA for it.
And i'm already working on 0.1.7, when i will add some new features.

Wheres the source code check you were in the process or arranging like 2 weeks ago. I'm smelling bullshit at this point.

Ok just so I can understand what your asking... What exactly are you looking for from a 3rd party code audit?
443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Crypti - XCR - Ͼ - 3 PoS algorithms - Ed25519 - Next Gen New Source - Launched! on: September 13, 2014, 02:36:23 PM
I also have been working on a "cold storage" write up... lets hear your feedback...

In First Gen crypto's such as bitcoin, there are wallets that holds the users private and public keys in the wallet. Your crypto can only be used on the computer that has the private/public key on it. So anyone able to get access to the computer could send the crypto anywhere they wanted. First Gen has a feature to help stop this, it's called encryption and uses a password/passphrase. For some users having a single passphrase to protect your crypto just isn't enough. There is also the fear that there computer could fail, wether from a corrupted drive, house fire or any unforeseen events. So for those users there is something called "cold storage". Cold storage is also used by exchanges that don't want to keep the crypto vulnerable to hackers. So what cold storage, is taking your private/public keys off your computer. This doesn't take them off the blockchain, this only takes them off your computer. What your doing when putting the crypto in cold storage is removing the private key using the "dumpprivkey" command. You see your private and can print it on to a paper wallet if you would like. In first gen crypto the "dumpprivkey" gives you your 58 character private key, which can later be used to import back in to any wallet out there (http://www.coinqa.org/import-paper-wallet-to-litecoin-qt/).

Now Crypti a 2nd gen crypto...

The best way to look at Crypti is that it's always in cold storage. What is meant by this is when you enter your passphrase in to the wallet interface, look at it like importing a private key. Your passphrase is like a private key, however can be 100 characters and use any ANSI character ( e.g.  @ # $ % ƒ ~ ¿ ‡ ). Now Crypti also has a second security feature called "second passphrase" This in a sense can be looked at like the "encryption" from the first gen crypto's wallet.

So in comparison Bitcoin to Crypti

import private key = passphrase
encrypted wallet = second passphrase

Would these terms make things easier to understand?

I look forward to an easy windows guide to forge. I'm on Win 8 and I am the guy who spent lots of time on net without knowing anything of PCs.

So make a guide once win wallet is out, to forge, dumbed down to the max  Grin

hahah No problem!!  Grin

It would be nice if there was a way to control multiple addresses from a single account.

Good Idea... I may be possible to implement this down the road..

once i get the windows wallet im taking all crypti out and forging. im a pc person but i also have a mac and i think mac is so much trouble to use, not friendly at all, the mac looks very deceiving though.

I just need to make sure that you fully understand a few things, which you may already know..

Ok when you say "taking all crypti out" maybe you just me transferring all your Crypti from the exchange to your own address... that could be done at any point... there is no need to wait for the windows wallet... the windows wallet is not holding anything... the windows wallet is just allowing you to run a Node on your windows system.. you can access your wallet/account from any node out there already...

The other thing to point out is that you only need 1000 Crypti to forge.. So there is no benefit to having 1000 or 1 million crypti on your single node...

Wallet needs to be a little more welcoming and shiny also, i'm not a big fan of grey/green, sober is good but not that sober  Smiley Wallet feels a little cheap/empty i don't know.

Not very important, just sayin', other priorities right now i know  Smiley

1. After 12 hours of the update node synchronized. Everything looks good.
The only one node is forged about 18 blocks (7.65 forged - for stats) and the other of about 3.
2. I do not like the current scheme of pale gray.
And do not have enough information content (for example, click on the number block opens detailed information about the time, the transaction list or even just additional columns in the Forged section: time block, forged amount).
But I understand that you have much more tasks. Just want all at once.
3. I remember discussed (possibly external users, not developers) that there are problems with the compilation ed25519 under Windows.
Maybe you have already decided the issue, but if you're interested, while I was writing vanish account generator, found a few projects:
1) https://github.com/floodyberry/ed25519-donna ;
2) https://github.com/nightcracker/ed25519 - this is the project I'm using to generate on Windows,
I get about 8,000 new public keys per second per 4 GHz core (using dll calls).

1) Thanks for the update.
2a) This will be changed during UX and re-branding work.
2b) The block explorer will provide the additional information.
3) The main problem is the node modules compiler (node-gyp), once we sort this out, we could compile or cross-compile Windows C++ versions.
There are guides, however they all seem to be more like attempts, rather then official / community ones.

STATUS UPDATE

I just wanted to take a second to let everyone know what we have been up to. It has been a little quiet here so I would like to give you a peak into why some of the guys haven't been as busy as usual.

SyRenity is currently in Moscow meeting with Boris and A.M. to work out some details of the roadmap and our plan face to face. They have been very busy and while we don't have any official announcements right now, a lot of progress is being made.

Some of the things they have been working on:

  • Interviewing the Developer Candidates
  • Interviewing candidate design teams
  • Interviewing teams for the Video productions
  • Discussing details of certain roadmap items
  • Interviewing candidate community Board members

These are just some of the things happening during their visit. We have also upgraded some of Boris' equipment to allow him to be even more effective and we are discussing office space options for the development team to make it easier for them to collaborate on the various components that will be in production.

SyRenity should be arriving back home in another day or two and then we should have some announcements in regards to several items.

On top of that, Boris has squashed the last few bugs we knew of for 0.1.6c and we are doing hopefully final testing to get it out to all of you.

NOTE: If you would like to help test new versions, I would recommend staying in the IRC channel (#CryptiTalk) for now. Boris will be looking for help from supporters there until we get a more organized tester program setup for new releases (which we are also working on).

The windows wallet is also with testers now and nearing completion. We know you are all eager and we are trying to launch it as soon as possible but we will not launch until we feel comfortable that there are no glaring bugs.

Also, on another note, we will have an official announcement soon in regards to the community based board members for the Crypti Foundation. We have already confirmed 2 members and have one more that we will be talking to in the next 1-2 days. We still have 2 more candidates to choose (assuming the 3rd works out) so keep making nominations and letting us know who you would like to see on the board of the Foundation.

We are still here working hard and trying to hash out the last few bugs in the initial network and wallets. As soon as we feel like the network is running solid and there are no major issues with syncing and the blockchain, we will get the block chain explorer and custom block chains out next.

We will start developing the mailing list as a regular means of communications in the very near future so be on the lookout for that as well. We want to have a better means for regular updates as well as a way to post some special community events (such as dev chats, etc). We know many of you have a lot of questions still and might not fully understand exactly what Crypti is, our vision, or what it will look like in 12 months, so we would like to sit down and answer some of those questions with you!

Please be patient and stick with us. There is a lot coming down the pipe and we will keep you updated as it happens! Thank you everyone for supporting us!

There is a lot of work being done right now... the 1-click windows wallet is in testing and will be ready soon.. once again it may be nice to look at the "1-click windows wallet " as a "1-click windows Node" running on your local system.. allowing you to forge right from your home windows computer...
449  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Crypti - XCR - Ͼ - 3 PoS algorithms - Ed25519 - Next Gen New Source - Launched! on: September 13, 2014, 11:02:46 AM
Windows wallet should have been ready at launch...Not to mention launch had been delayed lots of time.

And if you ask me, while windows wallet is indeed needed, simply be able to forge through web wallet via single "enable forging" button (like nxt and all...) would be enough for most people. And even that we can't right now.

Hopefully it will come soon enough.

It may be best to not even use the word wallet instead we use

Web Node
Local Node
Account (wallet)
Address

Here this is how it would read...
You can use the Web Node to access your Crypti account which can be accessed from any Node out there. Your account is secured with your passphrase and is used to send and receive Crypti. You may also choose to host your own Node and accsess your account info from your Local node. This Local Node has all the same info as every other Node out there. Every Node uses the Blockchain as a ledger or a recored of transactions, every Node is in sync with each other. The other thing you can do is Forge on your Local Node, if you have a min of 1000 Crypti in an account. All you must do is give your Local Node access to your account, this is done by providing your account passphrase to your Local Node.

To forge you need 2 things First you must be running your own Node, the Web wallet is a Node ran by the Crypti Foundation... Second you must have 1000 Crypti in an account

So using the Web wallet to set up forging wont be something available... You wont be able to access your account on someone else's Node and start forging... Forging is a reward structure designed for ppl running a Node that helps secure the network... This is not some PoS hoarding reward structure...

I would like to know more details on forging.
Is forging dependant on coin amount ?
What happens if someone creates a new wallet using my node, and deposits XCR there. Does it count towards node staking?

I will give you the basics...

Each node out there wether yours or someone else's simply reads the blockchian and shows the info in the blockchain in the form of a wallet...

If you have an address and have that address's passphrase you can access it's info from any node/wallet...

There is some wording that we may need to change...
The Web Wallet may be best called a Web Node

The word wallet is being double defined... we us it to refer to a hosting node that anyone can access and we use it to define ownership of an account...

So if you download and run the software... you are simply hosting a node that ppl can use to access their wallet..

It may be best to not even use the word wallet instead we use

About Bter.

We changed blockchain to 0.1.6c to fast sync, something wrong with previous versions (0.1.6b) in sync.
I sent version 0.1.6c to tests to our QA and yesterday guys from our IRC channel tested it too.

Soon will be release Windows/Linux/Mac OS 0.1.6c version.

Among all the features,
the one I concern the most is custom blockchain,
which makes crypti different from the left world of crypto currency.

Is it delayed?
Or we can expect it to be released in time as claimed before?

guys, projects always sounds perfit, but few coin devs has the ability to implement even a small step.

i have never bought any XCR.

as far as i know, only the NUD dev is the gennius dev.

I don't know why I'm even replying... Maybe this poor guy needs a little guides...

Is web wallet forging working?

Yes, It works, but not how you thought.

XCR forges PER NODE.  All the web wallets are on the same node, so all the web wallets are forging and the fees are going to the Foundation.

Right look at the Web wallet as a service that the Crypti Foundation Hosts for you...

However if you want to forge your own blocks and earn the fees within that block... then all you must do is set up your own Forging Node (wallet with 1000Ͼ)

To set one up follow the guide for the AWS or wait a little longer for the Windows wallet (which is in testing now)

The reason I ask is to look for trends from ppl dropping sync... not only in hardware but in could services...

Perhaps it could be in the way it is set up also. Do you do anything in your set up which somebody else might not do? For example, since you run multiple nodes do you add each of your nodes to the others' config files or anything like that?

I make sure to follow the guides to the "T" I want to know someone without cloud/linux experience can follow the guide and come out with a fully functioning cloud node

I think my node is on its own fork.

On the 'blockchain' page of the wallet all of the blocks shown are generated by me, and the balance is different from what I see if I log in to wallet.crypti.me.

How did I end up on a fork and what should I do?

I've noticed a similar behaviour. I've tried a couple of full resyncs with no success

I'm dealing with the same issue on both AWS and DO nodes. AWS seems to get to about 25gb's each time and then stops. 0.1.6 didn't have this problem and I synced in 1hr 45mins. After 0.16b they both stop. AWS at around 25GB's and DO at around 18GB's. Logs.log is up to the second. Testing now again, with another new clean instance.

When your talking about GB's what is this number referring to? Did you mean MB?
atm the blockchain.db is only 82mb and both my 1gb AWS node are only using 6% of the 1gb ram...

If your not seeing the same info on the web wallet then your local wallet is out of sync...

Are you on 0.1.6b?

Yes.

Hmm, the devs will have to check that out. It seems that the forking problems from the 0.1.4 version have risen again.

This is getting ridiculous. I've spent countless hours trying to get a working Crypti node, and however many days it is waiting for the next release, then the next release, and so on. And in all this time the longest I've had it working for is a few hours.

I have 5 nodes up and running 3 at AWS and 2 at Digital Ocean

(1) 512mb DO
(2) 1gb AWS
(1) 1gb DO
(1) 2gb AWS

The only one giving me a little trouble is the DO 512mb.. as soon as I see if I can get a stable node on a DO 512mb I will be releasing the DO guide...

At the moment
(3) 1gb nodes stable and syncing... (1) at DO and (2) at AWS
the 2gb node at AWS is also stable...I have it just to compare performance

In my opinion it has nothing or not directly to do with the hardware specs.
I use three dedicated servers ( 2, 4 and 8GB ) RAM and all of them are out of sync and resyncing is failing all the time

The reason I ask is to look for trends from ppl dropping sync... not only in hardware but in could services...

I added the command for the ppa repo and few other community suggestions... Let me know what you guys think
