I am basically grabbing the first one to release with an aftermarket design.
That's probably what I'll do, so my choice will surely be the 1060 given that's there's still no release date for the RX 470. I'll surely at final buy at least one aftermarket card of each brand of both cards so no need to choose which one is the best !

Just to come back on my thought. By re-reading the OP, I saw that the TDP was 120W, just as the RX 470. If that's not 80W as I thought, there's not a big deal here...
that's the tdp, you can tweak your power limit to have 80 at 20, hell i can do 140w at 20 with a 970, there is no reason to believe that a 1060 do only 20mh at 120w, would be very bad Well, but comparing it to the RX 470, 100$ cheaper for the same performances, led me to finally coming back to the AMD side after an afternoon at Greens' side .

Forget everything about the AMD cards, the 1060 will enter on July 19th in thr ring and will break everything ! I say that even if I'm an hard AMD defender, but what I saw a few minutes ago made me change my mind, at least until AMD do something better !

70W ?!! If what Amph says, more than 20 MH/s for only 80W (even 19 MH/s would make me really happy for that consumption), I'll reserve some money and maybe buy four of these nice little monsters !

I'd say that bigger the ICO is, bigger it is promising. Then, identify if developpers are known or not (in matter of notoriety and that you know their real identity). Finally, everything which is not a common altcoin (assets, smart-contracts...) is a plus.

I'm sorry for you : you can't. You can forget everything that is 1 Gb for mining Ethereum. Even 2 Gb is barely feasable, so you can totally forget about this. And that's not even a real graphic card... You should buy a RX 470 or a 1060. Just wait to see what's best and buy it.

Unfortunately, I have to pay 22 cents per kWh. I'm still in profit. Even if someday I'm in loss, I'll continue to mine, because I know that someday one bitcoin will be worth 10 000$ and because it will be a kind of way to convert fiat into bitcoins.

I get mine on Amazon. Did you wired molex cables to the motherboard ? Do your risers have a kind of aluminium paper on them ?
|
|
|
What are you trying to mine with it ? It will greatly change if you're mining common CPU-mined crypto-currencies or special ones (like Magi...).

if 27MHs is correct you should have something like 0.25 etheruem per day
I don't know where you got that. I'd rather say something like 0,2 ETH. I got 60 MH/s of hashpower, and I don't get 0,5 ETH/day ! i'm getting like 1.05 for 120MH using the stratum for dwarf, so with 27MH you should do 0.23 at the very least Maybe this come from the stratum thing. I'm using getwork, or at least I think. Any information regarding this ? yes use stratum version, it give you more, like 10% at least, i'm running my rig on dwarf but you can use stratum mode with cointron and ethermine.org or what is called I'll look at it. I run on Dwarfpool too, and get about 0,41 ETH/day with my little 60 MH/s. I should be close to your 0,5 ETH/day with it.

i presume those were without any 6 pin, just absorbing power from the pci-e
You are right. And without tdp mod. Everyone can google "melted atx connector", we are about to see more of these. You need the Asrock H61/81 pro btc and fill the two +12 V on the mother board or use powered risers now. He's right. In a mining usage, you need specifical hardware, to deliver more power than the cards actually consume.

it's rumored that 470 in July then 460 in August.
Not before end of july, even 480 with custom cooling would need 20-25 days to we see in shops, so don`t get your hopes up! Also 470 is bad binned of 480 GPU so with best of luck if you find any before august in shop, or the supply will be very low That's really bad news . I can't wait that long ! I'll see what I'll do, but anyway, thank you for the fast but unhappy news !

Okay, so now the RX 480 went out. Some people found that it was not good enough, so maybe these two will be. Do you know when it will be publicly released ?

From what I am observing there should be a LOT of supply. As in hundreds to thousands of cards at the major retailers.
Unfortunately, noone has released stock yet in NA...motherfuckers.
Oh yeah...since the 480 vs 470 specs:
480: 1266 MHZ GPU vs 470: 1206 MHZ GPU 480: 256-bit bus vs 470: 256-bit bus 480: 2000MHZ RAM vs 470: 1750 MHZ RAM 480: 256 GB/s vs 470: 224 GB/s 480: TDP: 150W vs 470: 110W
Release Date is stated as June for both.
I may just go with 470 cards.
That's what I'll do. I'm just waiting for someone to let me buy them to take a couple as a test, for maybe buy more later.

I think that we'll unfortunately see a 50$ premium for at least the two first weeks. I hope that it won't be that bad, but I doubt it will ...

False. I invested in Waves, and still have my coins. I just know that someday it will be worth more. You're a typical jealous guy who doesn't have enough money to enter in this ... Jealous of your coins that you are bagholding for a loss? I sold mine in the first minute for a 50% profit. You are the one who is in denial pal. You sold yours when there was nothing. Just imagine what it will be when something will be pushed to work...

i suggest to use dwarf it's the bets for me, the payout are very stable and accurate, very similar to that you get from a calculator, but you need to use their proxy to have that payout, it work best with the last genoil build, to avoid crash
I didnt realise superniva was shutting down, im just in the process of trying to setup dwarfpool but its not as straightforward as supernova was due to me already having an account with supernova. looks like i have to mine to my own wallet is that correct? Do you even get a decent wallet for eth other than the geth one which is really basic and command line. I've put my Bittrex address, and all is fine. It's really fast once you get use to it, hopefully for me, who had to reinstall everything not less than elevn times past month. Thanks, I've managed to get mining on dwarfpool now but the only thing im wondering is how do i tell that its actually mining in the pool? My miner shows my hashrate and looks like it's working fine but I'm not sure wherei go on Dwarfpool to see the hashrate? Or do i just wait until my wallet gets a payment? That's quite simple. Go to http://dwarfpool.com/eth/address?wallet=yourwalletaddresshere. You can also go on http://dwarfpool.com/eth and enter your payout address without the 0x1. You'll find very detailled statistics and have an hourly-updated result of what you mined the last 24 hours. This pool is the best !

in my crappy country rx 480 version with 8GB is 366$, fUc.K you distributors
In my it is about 400$ :s Here it is $330. I'm finding a website to purchase it from and get it through DHL. I'm pretty sure that I'd get it at a cheaper price this way. Any suggestions from where I can get this card? If Amazon is available in your country, that's what I would suggest. That's for me the best. It's available worldwide, so the prices shouldn't be too exagerated.

I would recommend you : Ethereum, Dash, Monero and Waves. That's for me the most interesting ones. Each of them has a really new tech technology that might make the difference. However, none will ever surpass Bitcoin, that is sure.
