441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: December 01, 2011, 06:26:16 PM
Now who was it who used that excuse for increasing the value of his coins before? ... ah that's right RealSolid ...

Even at 7 block reward, the inflation is still working on the SC price.  It was once 0.018 now it is 0.0095.  The economy can't really flourish, until you can save.  The owners of existing coins owe nothing to future miners, other than minimum fee to maintain the network.  Suppose you buy 1000 BTC for $1000 or sell a programming service for 100 BTC.  You don't want any future mining because it will dilute the value of the coins you worked or paid for.  If you go around the world and consider history, you will find the strongest economies and gdp growth always occur in countries with lowest inflation or deflation.

1) I agree that the person who wants 1 i0coin / block simply wants to make his coins scarce (worth more).

2) It's sounding like it may be possible to have both namecoin and i0coin merged with bitcoin?  Clearly that gives any new chain new hope to be much more secure in the event new chains are created with merged mining right off the bat.

And I think it would also increase bitcoin security, b/c everyone would be mining the "parent chain" (bitcoin)?

1. Disclosure I have about 30K ioc and 50K ixc, to come up with the idea I would like a little bounty.  In the "ixcoin merged mining thread", it is up to nasakioto to keep his baby the way he wants it.  However, I suggest something different than bitcoin.  Otherwise I may ask fcisashita to make goldcoin.  I want to create a true deflationary currency.

2. yes and no because they are probably pools mining bitcoin already.

443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Merged mining for Ixcoin on: December 01, 2011, 07:37:01 AM
sounds like a get rich quick scheme to me...

Quite the contrary.  It is meant for the long term the 1000 year long term.  A get rich scheme is to pre-mine 1,000,000 then sell them off.  Once they are sold, start a new chain.
444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Merged mining for Ixcoin on: December 01, 2011, 12:35:52 AM
I sent you doublec 1000 ioc.  However, if you read my post, the 5 btc and rewards were if you lowered the reward from 48 to 1 within the near future.  The reason to make a coin different than btc or nmc with merged mining.  I can't seem to mine with the new client, it crashes when I find a block.

Nasakioto wants someone to convert ixcoin into merged mining and has also offered a bounty for someone to do so.  I have a bounty for ixc too.  However, I would be extremely happy if one of these coins became a true low inflation cryptocurrency with a 1 block reward.

But I offer to you 15 BTC if you change the reward such that on or before block 300,000 for ioc or block 100,000 for ixc the reward drops to 1 permanently.  I would also prefer a mandatory automatic transaction fee to prevent attacks and control size.  Also there must be a pool that exists to merge mine btc, nmc, ixc, and ioc all at once before reward is paid and be pretty sure everyone switched and on the new block.

The ixc offered in my ixc reward will still exists, but the 5 BTC is now the new 15 BTC reward.

So either (96 to 1 for ixc) or (48 to 1 for ioc) with merged mining and a pool for 15 BTC.

Dilution is not the solution to pollution.

Yes, I saw your request for a drop to the reward. I won't be changing i0coin since this changes the value of existing held coins. It would mean i0coin would effectively be a new coin with a large 'premine' given to people who mined previously. My plan was to fix i0coin bugs, implement merged mining, but leave the generation rate, transaction fees, and values as they are since they are what gives a coin variant its identity. Plus I'd like to avoid the claims of arbitrary changing of values by a 'coin dictator'.

For ixcoin you should contact the coin creator with your idea of dropping the rate. If they agree I'd be willing to provide the patches, a pool, etc. I'd be interested in seeing what a slower generation coin does. Current coins seem to have more coins available than people need to use since their is very little non-trading usage of them. Since ixcoin already has a premine and a 'controller' it may not be so bad to change things.

Now that merge mining exists a possibly better approach for these "lets change a coin's features" requests is to create a new chain starting with no premine with the new features. Merge mine it with existing coins. Provide an exchange to trade between new coin and old coin, and see how they go.

1. The value of existing coins should increase. The owners of existing coins should be upset at all future mining as it dilutes the value of their coins.  I don't think you would be changing value, other than increasing the value to existing owners.  The only purpose of mining is to protect the network and possibly advertise it.

2. I now own 50K IXC, so I am a little selfish here.  As I would like to see my coin go up in value and everyone had and has the chance to mine ixc.  There is even a pool at coinotron.  Nasakioto would have to make the decision, and in an earlier post he claimed the reward was hardwired into the code.

3. I noticed ixcoin.org is now up after a month down with many spam posts.  Maybe Nasakioto is taking your code and fixing it already for ixcoin.

4. If nasakioto says no, I would be game to starting a new coin.  Where there is zero premine.  Maybe a 100 reward for the first 10,000 blocks, 1000 reward for the next 45,000 blocks, then a 1 reward forever.  With 1 block every 2 minutes.  Thus all coins out in about 2.54 months.  Difficulty change every 120 blocks with a 1 permanent transaction fee.  Maybe call the coin goldcoin - where inflation is less than gold.  The inflation rate would be 0.57% after 2 months. Maybe IXC should be renamed?

This looks great.  Have you tried to do merged mining?  There is a large bounty if you can get that working and there is source code at dot-bit to do it.
447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Merged mining for Ixcoin on: November 21, 2011, 07:14:09 AM
Namecoin has a purpose of domain name system.   Bitcoin is the main coin.  Ixcoin must seperate from the pack with merged mining to offer something the other coins don't.  That is why I strongly propose a 1 mining reward after block 40,000 or block 50,000.  Doing so will create the lowest inflation coin and the price will skyrocket.  Mostly likely past bitcoin to gold parity Smiley.   It will be the 1st true digital currency.
448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: coinotron ioc on: November 21, 2011, 06:48:08 AM
http://i0.digbtc.net/  You can get a client from this site, it might not be last one as it crashes when i start to mine.

coinotron: You double sent me 187.7316 coins when I closed out my account.  Maybe you have a bug in your code that double sends i0coins.
449  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Merged mining for Ixcoin on: November 17, 2011, 09:03:16 AM
I will add 5 BTC and 3000 IXC if the reward is dropped from 96 to 1 with merged mining.
450  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: i0coin hits block 100000 on: November 17, 2011, 09:00:50 AM
I will contribute 5 BTC, 1000 IXC, and 1000 IOC if the reward is lowered to 1 or less (instead of 48).
451  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Davinici in the News on: November 16, 2011, 04:10:28 AM

Davinchi is quite famous in the youtube world.  He got kicked out of the "silver" pumpers community for talking about bitcoin.  He basically gave up his 5000+ subscriber silver channel for bitcoin.
452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: coinotron ioc on: November 15, 2011, 06:19:27 PM
If bitcoind was fixed for merged mining (since it is 99.9% the same as ixcoin) I think somebody could fix it, if they have not done already and merge mine ixcoin.  The pools have such low use, you can mine yourself without a pool:

ixcoin.conf or iocoin.conf and place in Appdata->Roaming->iocoin (where the wallet and local files are located)
rpcuser=un
rpcpassword=pass
server=1

note: once you put this file in the directory run ixcoind or iocoind for stability.  Then you can start your miners.   You can create shortcut and drag to desktop and edit properties to save time. If you see hashes it is running correctly, when you see a hash and accepted you found a block (which might take 10 minutes with a gpu).

ioc
poclbm.exe --user=un --pass=pass -o 127.0.0.1 -p 7332 -d1 -v -f 0 -w 128

ixc
poclbm.exe --user=un --pass=pass -o 127.0.0.1 -p 8338 -d1 -v -f 0 -w 128
453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: coinotron ioc on: November 15, 2011, 12:07:26 PM
Something really screwy is happening with ioc.  The difficulty has been about 18-30 for a month, then it jump up to 200 and then coinotron stated having problems and it seems btc-e is having some problems as you can't deposit ixc anymore.  Hopefully the ioc client link I found is not for the old client?  However, I really like the 1 minute blocks of ioc.  I went of the sc irc channel and realsolid said he admired ioc and ixc because he learned a lot from them.  I wonder if ioc and or ixc have been recently attacked?  Now the difficultly of ioc might be going down to 11.
454  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Merged mining for Ixcoin on: November 15, 2011, 11:59:30 AM
If you can do merged mining with bitcoin, with no changes.  I would think you should be able to do merged mining with ixcoin with no changes?  However, I do wish they would drop the mining reward to 0.5 IXC for each block instead of 96.  A very generous reward when the price rises like SC and IXC reaches gold parity.
455  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: coinotron ioc on: November 15, 2011, 01:53:07 AM
Why did coinotron remove ioc from the menu.  It was really increasing in difficulty.  I noticed there were no miners on it, but that was due to the difficulty above 100.   Ioc is not dead and this was only pool.

We will introduce it again when someone fix client. During weekend it crashed twice. Two weeks ago pool "lost" 10000 i0coins. They were sent as standard payout from pool but they didn't make it to the addressee.

Thanks, yea the client crashes for me too.

458  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Congrats Solidcoin, 2nd most valuable cryptocurrency. on: November 10, 2011, 09:15:04 PM
ixc came before sc.  Here is the order as I remember btc nmc ixc ioc sc gg tbx fbx ltc sc2 ruc.  nmc started it all.  ixc was created with 500K premined casuing ioc to be created a couple days later.  SC was created then gg was created to take shorter block times to an extreme. sc1 was also criticized.  tbx was created to beat sc2 to cpu mining, fairbrix was created without the pre-mine and ltc was just done as a team to actually be a currency and compete with sc2.  ruc was just a coin started in Russia.
459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Congrats Solidcoin, 2nd most valuable cryptocurrency. on: November 10, 2011, 07:07:33 PM
Steelie-

This is becoming almost laughable! You continue to post the most fractured, inane fantasies about what you WANT or are TRYING TO HAVE HAPPEN. Merge two dead coins that were created as pump and dump satirical digs at shortbus coin? Reduce block rewards to 1? Why stop there? If 1 is good, .00000000000001 would be even better!! Let's have the entire network mine for one whole coin for the next decade!!

You want an altcoin that traditional merchants will accept- that's commendable. You want to do so by adopting the most toxic altcoin as you favorite, and then careen off on some twisted tangent about resurrecting necrocoins simply because you own a few thousand of them? Rational businesspeople would read your thoughts, and quietly dismiss you as one of those special people who they tend to prefer don't do business with them. You want to be a bazillionjillionaire because you mined tens of thousands of coins that were an intentional middle finger to the market? It isn't going to happen. Value is established by trading, necrocoins don't trade and altcoins in general are, with the possible exceptions of nmc and ltc, nothing more than elaborate jokes to test out theories about just how truly monumentally foolish some people are.

Dude- you wasted that electricity. No matter how passionate your pleading, you were baboozled, conned, swindled, taken to the cleaners, ripped off and had your gentle soul and good nature taken advantage of. You make yourself look a prize ass to continue to flog these silly schemes, and it is high time one of the adults took you aside and suggested you stop.

lol.  when ixc reaches gold parity you will see.
460  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Congrats Solidcoin, 2nd most valuable cryptocurrency. on: November 10, 2011, 07:55:49 AM
Besides this belongs in Trading Discussion.

Nonsense I am talking about solidcoin and other cryptocurrencies showing the relative value of each, no trading involved.  My motive is to get merged mining going on ixc and ioc with 1 coin permanent reward per block.

Why to pull off the same bait and switch ass-clownery as ScamCoin?

So early adopters got millions of coins and late adopters will get a "whole coin".   Grin

Yeah that has a future beyond a short lived pump and dump.

I got a small share of IXC and IOC about 20K each.  But you have to remember you can say the same thing about bitcoin.  As soon as the mining ends everytime a trade takes place the distribution will be more fair.  About 1.5 million BTC trade on MTGOX every month, if BTC mining slowed to 5 a block, the price would really skyrocket and businesses would take off.  Like they did when it was increasing in value before.
