4421  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We are having the difficult time, are you still a Bitcoin HODL? on: April 05, 2020, 02:19:11 PM
I have always favored the HODL line... but not anymore. I first got my coins in 2017 January and ever since that I have marked more than 80% of my coins for long-term storage. However, my patience is getting really thin now. I can't hold on to the coins indefinitely. I have also my own needs and future plans. I am planning to sell 10-20% of my stash during the next few months.

This topic is related to Bitcointalk PSL T20 Pool & discussions, so lets stick to this discussion and talk about the PSL. Maybe some one has some news about the upcoming PSL and for the current few matches left for PSL.  Will they be held someday ?

Well... its tragic. After a long time, there was a major tournament in Pak soil and it was going extremely well. And that was until the COVID 19 outbreak played spoilsport. Till now, we don't know whether the remaining three matches will be played at a later date, or cancelled altogether. We can keep this thread alive until the decision is made. If they are going to cancel it, then we can lock this thread until the start of the next edition (PSL 2021).
4423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin during pandemics on: April 05, 2020, 02:07:49 PM
The next few weeks are going to be crucial for Bitcoin. Because the COVID 19 outbreak has moved past countries such as Spain and Italy and now it is the United States which is reporting the maximum number of cases and moralities. And this is bad news for us. If there is a huge impact on the United States, then the global economy may get destroyed. And it can definitely have a huge impact on the exchange rates of Bitcoin.
The numbers of the people who got infected is keep rising and it is really a big problem, the crisis is still out there and we are not sure if it have still a bad effect in the market. If this pandemic will stay more months, then maybe the cryptocurrency market will still go down and it is a sad part for me.

I was expecting a spike from the upcoming block reward halving and all that hope is gone now. A few months back when the exchange rates spiked to $13,000 per coin, I was hoping that Bitcoin will hot a new ATH by the time of the next halving. And look where are we now. It has been terribly disappointing for the cryptocurrency users. After a very good year in 2019, we are in for a horrible 2020.
4424  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: COVID-19 and its effect in Gambling World on: April 05, 2020, 02:01:17 PM
In my opinion all Gambling services are hit by the crisis, no matter if its a regular casino, the lottery or a online gambling website. Especially the local casinos are facing a hard time sinces they were forced to close in almost every country. Since most sport events are postponed or canceled bookies online and offline also face a hard time. On the other hand niches like Online-Poker, Online-Roulette or Online-Dices games might have more players right now. I am currently betting a lot on e-sports, which is also great fun!

More than anything, the gambling activity will be in a good state only of the economy fares well. And look at the stock markets now. The Dow Jones has lost more than 40% of its value, with the other markets also losing similar amounts. Millions of people have become jobless across the globe and on top of that many companies are going bankrupt. All this will have an impact on the casinos, both online and offline.

4426  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: April 05, 2020, 01:16:19 PM
For few Pakistani viewers star sport will not angry rest of India. Indian ads are genrerating revenue for it to operate. That is not possible and by the way you can check youtube to watch cricket matches where India has lostt. There are tons of them uploaded their.

As such, almost all of these matches are copyrighted and even if they are available on YouTube, they may be the pirated version. Some matches may be made available on YouTube by the copyright holders, but it's their discretion. If you want access to all these matches, then I guess you need a premium subscription to some online streaming website, such as Hotstar.
4427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In times of turmoil, is Bitcoin really a safe-haven asset? on: April 04, 2020, 06:05:15 AM
If Bitcoin can be considered as a safe haven asset, then almost all the assets would come under this definition. Look at the charts for the past 3-4 months. The exchange rates have fallen by around 50%, and the altcoins have lost their value even more. But then, if you want an asset which is outside the control of the central banks, then Bitcoin is one of the best options out for you.
4428  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 💰 Summer Tokyo 2020 💰 Discussion and bet thread 💰 Summer Game 💰 Postponed 21 on: April 04, 2020, 05:54:51 AM
That's almost 1 year and 4 months time before we will be able to see the Olympics. I hope this will give players and countries to continue the preparation and those who were lacking in preparation can utilize this additional time and come strong after an year.

Because of the COVID 19 outbreak, sporting events are being cancelled and the athletes are not being able to train properly. Even if this situation comes under control within the next 2-3 months, it will be tough for many of the athletes to get back to their regular routine. It is going to be an irreversible damage, which may take a few years to reverse completely.

Regardless of when the situation become clear, players and athletes have to keep their fitness level up to date. Although they may not be able to go out and play freely but they would be exercising  and keeping their fitness level while remaining in lockdown in their homes. Athletes  should not remain idle and lose their form & fitness.

Well.. that's what I am saying. Training indoor may not be as effective as undergoing training in sports facilities. Also, due to the outbreak the coaches may not be able to interact with the athletes and there can be issues with procuring the equipment and supplements as well. For one or two months, it is going to be OK. But if the lockdown continues for a longer duration, then it will be difficult for the athletes to maintain their fitness level.

With all due respect, You don't need to play victim card for starters. BCCI didn't attack the SriLankan team in pakistan, Taliban did! that's why Pakistan didn't get the hosting rights and ICC kicked them out because no team wanted to tour Pakistan and if you want to blame India for this then you are free to do so..

Who gets the WC rights or not? its not upto BCCI per se but ICC voting committee and bidding. I am all up for BCCI bashing anytime but i suggest please use better argument and keep emotions on check.

I agree with the last paragraph of your post. Let the hosting rights be decided on the basis of voting. In case Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh could make a joint bid, then they may get 3 assured votes (out of a total of 14?). If they could persuade Afghanistan by giving them the rights to host one or two games, then it gets to 4 out of 14. 4 more are needed and I don't think that it will be very difficult for them. They can get support from countries such as Ireland, if they are generous enough to allow a bilateral tour.
4430  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk PSL T20 Pool and discussion. on: April 04, 2020, 05:32:39 AM
Oh you are suggesting that we hang up together and forget about the social distancing which everyone is talking about. It is not allowed to gather around or else the virus would spread more.

As the lockdown days are getting longer , the ideas of keeping ourself entertained are getting less & less.

He was probably asking us to set up an online gathering, where we could discuss cricket and gambling related matters (as per my understanding). He was referring to an online (or virtual) meeting rather than a physical meeting. If anyone is interested, then we could even gather together and engage ourselves in online games. There are a few multi-player computer games such as Cricket 19, in which we can all participate.

But personally, I prefer to avoid the online stuff as much as possible. For me, nothing comes close to the real game.
4431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Corona is spreading in many countries!! Bitcoin is a solution for transactions on: April 04, 2020, 05:23:11 AM
The COVID 19 outbreak has given a reason for the authorities to cut back on the use of physical cash. And I am not very happy about this. We should remember that one of the biggest advantages of physical cash is its anonymity and that's the main reason why the authorities want to eliminate its usage. If we use any of the digital forms of payment, the authorities will be able to track us, and our privacy will be lost.
4432  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: COVID-19 and its effect in Gambling World on: April 04, 2020, 05:17:08 AM
Okay, so we shouldn't rely on vaccinations but take your own precautions to prevent COVID-19 on yourself and your children. Don't ignore the government's order to fight back against this virus. This is a pandemic, which clearly means it is a large virus that can quickly spread across the globe.

The problem here is that the virus here is much more contagious than any other outbreak that we had to deal with in the past. As I said before, if everyone follows what the authorities say, then this problem can be contained in less than one month. But that is not the case. The situation here in India is horrible. We had people who were home quarantined roaming around and spreading the disease. And then there were passengers from Italy and Spain, who were hiding their travel history.
4433  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk PSL T20 Pool and discussion. on: April 04, 2020, 05:11:35 AM
None is going cool with me.
Not a fan of virtual sports. I never played any cricket game in phone or computer. It is boring LOL
Highlights are boring instead I am watching movies :-D

Same here... I watched the Belorussian Premier league for about 30 minutes, but didn't found it that exciting. It's getting really boring here (can't step out of the house because of the lockdown). I have been watching movies and web series during the past 2 weeks or so. There are a few good ones in Hotstar and Amazon Prime Videos.

I was thinking to do something entertaining so that we all can hang up together in here and make the forum experience interesting. Any idea from anyone?

What do you have in your mind? Everyone's getting bored and suggestions are welcome.
4434  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk PSL T20 Pool and discussion. on: April 03, 2020, 07:48:51 PM
It's boring without cricket, gambling and usual things I used to to in life. Someone come up with something so that we find some entertainment :-D
Nothing around?

First of all, there are no cricket matches ongoing in any part of the globe. Not even street cricket. Lockdowns are being imposed in every nook and corner of this planet and only one or two sports leagues are ongoing now (the ones that come to my mind are the Belarussian Premier League football competition and the Super Basketball League of Taiwan). So if you want live cricket, then unfortunately I can't help.

Secondly, if you want to do something related to cricket really badly, then you can try computer games such as Cricket 19 (PS 4) or World Cricket Championship (Android). I am not a big fan of virtual games, so I haven't tried them.

A third choice is to watch the highlights of past matches. Once again, I hate these telecasts. There is no fun in watching a cricket match, if you already know about the outcome.

These are the limited choices we have right now. Make yourself comfortable and feel free to make a selection.  Grin
4435  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi never used bitcointalk: Craig Wrigth on: April 03, 2020, 07:41:18 PM
You guys are getting emotional. Even Craig Wright knows that he'll never be able to prove that he is Satoshi Nakamoto (because he is not the real Satoshi, as simple as that). His real intention is to sow seeds of doubt in the mind of cryptocurrency users, so that he can promote his shitcoin (Bitcoin SV) and get rich by triggering a pump-and-dump cycle for the BSV. If you remember, he already managed one cycle almost a year ago.
4436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is KYC bad for crypto? on: April 03, 2020, 07:35:06 PM
In my own personal opinion, KYC isn't bad for cryptocurrency because the only reason why a project requires a KYC to avoid multiple accounts and for them to trust their participants. The bad thing about KYCs is if a project is a fraud or scam because they can steal your informations and used in their illegal activities.

KYC involves sending the scanned copy of your passport (or some other important national ID document) to relatively unknown people. And in today's world, this is one of the riskiest things to do. If you are investing $10 or $20 in a project, will you be willing to take this risk? If the real intention is to prevent multiple applications from the same individual, then some other method such as telephone verification can be used.

So where will this deduction in salary goes ?
Whether it will be deposited to any covid-19 relief funds or they will be the savings for the respective cricket boards ?  Also i believe players voluntarily gives their part of salary to gain the fame.

I really doubt whether the reduction in salary will be used anywhere else. First of all, there is a huge revenue loss for all of the major cricket boards as a result of cancellation and postponement of the tournaments. So there is a sharp decline in the revenue for starters. And this cut in revenue will be reflected in the salaries of the players as well. It's not like the boards are earning good amounts and not passing on the benefits to the players.
4438  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 03, 2020, 07:21:39 PM
I am not sure which world are you living in. In 2011, The world cup in 2011 was hosted by Bangladesh, India & Sri Lanka and they eliminated Pakistan. Now in 2023, they will alone host the World Cup, the Indians and they do not care if 3 others nearby cricketing nations wont get any matches and participation in it. How selfish would that be  Angry

Well.. I am aware of what happened in 2011, and at the same time I am aware of the changed scenario for 2023. And that's the reason why I was in favor of a combined bid by Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Since Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are no longer favored by India (the BCCI rather), they should make a deal with the PCB and look forward to making a joint bid. I don't think that any of these three nations will be better all alone.
4439  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk PSL T20 Pool and discussion. on: April 03, 2020, 07:13:01 PM
^^^^ I was talking about the revenues. With regards to crowd attendance and viewership, PSL may be one of the biggest leagues out there. But when you compare the broadcast revenues, sponsorship amounts, and involvement of major brands, then PSL lags behind BBL or the Natwest T20 Blast. And even in the near future, I can't foresee a scenario where the situation gets much better for PSL.
We can't talk about revenue much, when they were not even able to host PSL in Pakistan. It doesn't seem fair comparison IMO as everything is connected and its clearly dictate the success of any tournament.

Hmm.. I am still not agreeing with you 100%, but I have to admit that hosting the tournament in Pakistan can give a good boost to the PCB's coffers. After all, Pakistan is having a population of close to 200 million (compared to 25 million), and this gives them a strong revenue base. Also, cricket is the no.1 sport by quite some distance in Pakistan. I am not sure about Australia, but I don't think that cricket is the most popular sport there.
4440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Now Binance owns CMC! A Red alert for all the shit Exchanges! on: April 03, 2020, 06:48:26 PM
If CMC is worth this much now, why will the owners want to sell it? Won't it be worth more when cryptocurrency adoption gains more grounds? Let's see if this was an April fools prank or its a real deal.

LOL.. It's not a prank. And that is how the acquisitions work. Remember the acquisition of Whatsapp by Facebook? Facebook paid a total of $21.8 billion for acquiring Whatsapp, which a lot of experts thought was excessive. That was in 2014. But six years later, these same experts are of the opinion that the Whatsapp deal was a very profitable one for Facebook. The same may be the case with CMC.
