4442  Other / Off-topic / Re: I love to travel. What hotels do you like to stay in ? Share your preferences on: November 01, 2017, 07:40:29 PM
I like staying in Airbnb rooms rather than hotels. I like the idea of making friends with my host instead of feeling isolated in a hotel room, plus it is usually much cheaper. In my recent trip to Costa Rica, I scored a room for $9/night compared to the $40-50~ hotel rooms in the same area.

Yes, I get you, But I'm afraid you didn't get the point right in the very beginning of this topic.

I said I love travelling around a country to make friends and to learn from locals.
AND - to stay and get really 'relaxed' in a proper ***** [five-star] hotel.

Which are they (Hotels)  - and in which country?

I mean people sit and toil for a whole year or half a year - to do what?? To save another buck? Come on - it's rather weird to save money the whole year and to get crappy service in the end run.  Unless you mean to be mean to your Lady and  your kids - I don't get ya, sorrz!

:-(

To be fair, I get the appeal of spending less on accommodation. If money is a serious constraint, you can get a cheaper place and use the money on high-end food instead, which I would prefer over a high-end hotel if I had to choose between one of the two. In reality, I wouldn't really leave without being able to afford both though, since I don't like spending money if it's a significant amount of my total savings.

4444  Economy / Economics / Re: Does this mean Cash will be extinct? on: November 01, 2017, 07:35:09 PM
Obviously cash will be extinct if other countries will follow, they will only have value for collectors and museums. But for the possibility of that happening I don't think so relying fully on technology for payment in the future might not be best for all of us, I mean not all people are technically inclined to use gadgets let alone make our legal tender virtually exist. It would take years before people will fully adapt to the new system as many people will still prefer the use of Fiat currency.
Not really. First thing, you should be thinking how imbalance everything would be. Underdeveloped countries who are not advanced with technologies would not be able to cope with international countries, thus causing more problems to them. Secondly, even if people do know how to use the technology, there will always be trust issues. Anything stored digitally can somehow be hacked through or cause disruptions. So people would still prefer fiat over digital money.
Banks "store" everything digitally. And physical items are subject to theft and corrosion, so your argument doesn't really hold. It's also far simpler to swipe a card or smartphone than to use real cash for transactions.

The only bottleneck is a lack of technological progress in some developing countries, but that doesn't take very long and most people already have smartphones there.

And internet is going to be beamed to the entire planet within a couple of years by Alphabet and Facebook, who want to reach the billions of unconnected people to increase their ad revenue and influence.

"Bitcoin prepaid debit card operator Monaco’s token is plunging Wednesday after a code rewrite removed a key aspect from its roadmap.
At the same time it announced Visa as card issuing partner for its prepaid rollout, Monaco said its asset smart contract scheme would no longer feature in its future.
Holders of its MCO token, which launched via a 70,000 ETH ($2.1 mln) crowdsale earlier this year, reacted sharply. As of press time, its value was down over 37 percent in 24 hours."

Thanks for this. Woke up this morning to quite a surprise on the MCO front. Very disappointing for those who didn't have conditional sell stops in place. I had fun with this coin early, but when the devs change important aspects of this coin, it's no longer is an intelligent long term investment.
Yes, this and the way Kris talked about this issue as if it was irrelevant really put me off of MonaCo, which I was heavily looking forward to using initially. Not when the CEO claims that not sharing revenue is "absolutely pointless" though. That's either a massive lie or complete incompetence with regard to basic Mathematics.

Guys , this market is not regulated Roll Eyes . There may be some price manipulations and no one will class it criminal offence unlike of what is going on with the shares/stocks, because there is no laws really .So we never know what is going on really Undecided. The move from the dev could predict this impact .  I don't know what to think, I believe we have to be resilient here and not to get drifted by any panic . And never invest more of what you can loose . Those are high risk markets , it is not an gov backed saving program from 1970s . For that do not expect more than 2%/ year . If you get here , fast your sit-belt .
I'm not concerned about my investment. I've balanced my portfolio in a way that makes it impossible for me to lose any money.

I'm upset with the lack of honesty on the side of MonaCo and the shady attempts to appease investors with nonsensical disinformation.

I'm in the same boat. Not concerned about the loss. However, to say the market isn't regulated and we should expect to lose or make no more than 2% a year on our investment as an excuse for a poor business ethic driven announcement is wrong. The rewards for this coin were very much a large factor in holding these coins long term, and why many of us chose this coin to invest in in the first place.

It has caused TenX to make an announcement on rewards https://www.reddit.com/r/TenX/comments/7a0b6z/tenx_we_do_have_rewards/ and also caused many investors with Centra to laugh at this coin and it's investors.
I preferred MonaCo from the very start, and went 20-80 in TenX-MonaCo. I'm about to flip 100-0 into TenX-MonaCo due to this change... Feels like Kris thinks that his token holders are idiots based on his latest statements, and I guess that's true if the chats are anything to go by. Good for Kris, bad for every serious investor.

It looks like they saw the potential of the project in terms of how much this can bring but I still hope they will adjust this sharing system maybe next year.
If they need until next year to even announce that they are looking for a workaround for their investors I'll be out before Christmas and never come back. By the looks of it I'm far from being the only one to jump boats too. But in crypto only flippers seem to count anyways, so I doubt anyone will care about honest and serious projects that reward investors, even though the projects wouldn't exist without them in the first place. whether you're getting ready for WW3 or not, you should always have some food and water stocked up.
if you want things to trade, candles are good, so are batteries, whiskey/liquor, sugar, rice.  If you lose power for awhile, these are things people will want!
It seems to me that the Third World War will be completely different, What people perceive it, referring to the history of 41 and 45 years. Judging by the way countries are ready to fight, it seems to me that humanity has very few chances and all will only be bad and meaningless.
I really can't imagine another world war actually taking place precisely because of how ridiculously overgeared all leading military forces are. The third world war has probably already been going on behind the scenes for a very long time, with trades, currency and market manipulations instead of violence.

SNM price reach up to GNT price lately but now its almost obvious to see SNM is losing in the super computer technology. Even with the selling point of dividends, the urge to sell their SNM wins after seeing BTC price spikes. Won't SNM team release some thing new?
SONM is perfectly on point with delivering what they have promised so far. And dividends aren't even a thing here, the network fees for token holders won't be paid until a commercial version of the platform comes out either, which is still a while off. SONM is definitely not losing anything here.

4452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MonaCo's latest announcement - Visa confirmed, Asset Contract REMOVED on: November 01, 2017, 04:07:45 PM
Well, to me personally it Monaco has been one of those projects where there were big promises but they were a bit too big for me to really hope for them. As I see it now, the price is not going up despite the Visa news and people are being cautious or cutting losses.

However, one of the things that got my attention wasn't the proportion of the fees that will return to token holders but the ability to use the card, anywhere abroad, without paying the high fees (or bad exchange rates we are so used to.

It's unclear to me if that's still on the table as I haven't really watched them lately but that could be one of the things they bring forward to regain some traction.

The card itself is still on the table. And it's a decent card to have for sure. But that's the perks that any and every consumer/user of the card will have.

People don't invest to get the same perks as a user. People invest to participate in the generated profits, directly. And now with the latest news this will no longer happen. So investors basically got screwed out of one of the two reasons to even buy MCO tokens in the first place.

This approach with the fact that Kris stated that sharing revenue is "absolutely pointless" is reason enough for me to get out if he doesn't retract his statement. Even if the card is good. A lack of honesty like this shouldn't be supported, even if it means having to find another opportunity to turn a profit (of which there are plenty).

There is no good reason to support shady statements like those in the latest video.
4453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN [MCO] MONACO #1 Cryptocurrency Payments Card on: November 01, 2017, 04:01:21 PM
For sure this update is something unexpected for Monaco token holders, share was one of the most reason to which many investor wanted to hold them (like any other card project of course). Despite this, Monaco remain a interesting project so let's see what will happen
It's very interesting to see if Kris will retract his statement, which is either completely misinformed or a deliberate lie. I hope it's the former and not some shady attempt to manipulate public opinion.

I think ERC20 its good platform than Waves. So, I suggest you better create a token on the ERC20 platform. Waves is so easy to noob.
Think again..
Waves is still in development. They've got a new platform in the workings for their DEX and wallet, as well as smart contracts.

Welcome!

Well said. I also finally caved in and joined the forums for the bounties and learning more about ICOs... especially Blocklancer. This is one of the first ICOs I invested in several months ago.

If you're patient and rational with your investments, Blocklancer is unlikely to disappoint you. Most other ICOs are all about creating a buzz, hyping a coin and then being flipped. Blocklancer on the other hand is clearly here to stay, which can be seen by their extremely thorough analysis of the freelancing market as well as their proposed solutions to contemporary problems within it.

NVO's DEX is coming just at the right time considering regulators are starting to try and crack-down on cryptos. While regulation is needed, making dividend paying schemes illegal or unaccessible is not the right way to go about it. NVO to the rescue!
4459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN [MCO] MONACO #1 Cryptocurrency Payments Card on: November 01, 2017, 02:58:50 PM
Here's an example since you guys don't seem to be capable of Math.

Assume you own 10,000 MCO tokens. That is 0.001% of the total supply.

Now fast forward about a decade. MCO has become a giant and earns a yearly revenue of 1 Billion USD in platform fees (transactions, ATM withdrawals, conversions, etc.).

Since you own 0.001% of the tokens, you are entitled to a share of 1 Million USD.

This is what was promised and will no longer be delivered. And Kris says this is "pointless", which makes him either clueless, or dishonest. I hope it's the first and that he's going to find a workaround for this, like SONM already did, but I'm not having any hopes for this after his statement.

have to agree , this coin got me for $1,500 yesterday just in the time I took a walk with my kids... my fault for forgetting to set a stop. It wont burn me again
I'm probably ditching too, the new video is a massive disappointment.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjOL8rOC0o0

That example doesn't hold unless there's >100k new cards every year forever. Once the amount of new users starts stagnating the token value will dump. And that's ignoring long-term investors who were specifically waiting for Billions of annual revenue 5 to 10 years down the line.

It's simply not true that the new model (which is the old model minus sharing revenue with investors/token holders) is "mathematically proven" to be better. It's mathematically obvious that it's worse and such a gross misrepresentation of the Mathematics of this issue shows either a complete lack of competence, a lack of rigor, or a complete lack of honesty.

Everything else so far is just smooth talking aching to cold call insurance sellers.

And I didn't even get started about the massive risk for extreme market manipulation once the supply gets too small to fulfill orders. The amount of tokens required for reserving cards will have to be adjusted, which will have a massive impact on the price. And we all know whose interests centralized authorities usually satisfy in those situations: their own.

You're welcome, hope it'll be of help to you!

You can use the same approach for VC and stock market investments by the way. Or even for learning random things, asking questions is more than 50% of the learning process.

sorry, what is VC? is it mean video call (VC)? I just know VC that mean video call, ups sorry! sorry! sorry! friend, I dont know about this term  Grin Grin Grin
Venture Capital. It's the act of investing capital in risky startups or business, hence the name venture capital.

ups, sorry friends, i really do not know about this, only this time i know this. thanks for sharing their knowledge, this new science for me. thank you very much Dude
Don't worry about it, most people have never heard of it, because it takes a lot of money and/or the right connections to get into that scene. Which is why cryptocurrencies and ICOs are such a huge opportunity for people with less money. In the future ICOs could be VC that anyone has access to, regardless of their fortune or status.
