4441  Economy / Gambling / Re: Chips.gg |🎰 100k Event | Daily New Slots | on: April 20, 2021, 09:47:35 AM
I personally have never won anything good on Deadwood, but that's probably because I played less than 100 spins on it overall. Almost all of them were losing ones or with a small payout. On MT2, on the other hand, I was winning $24 and $18 from $0.10 bet(my highest wins so far), and was also hitting around 50x from time to time. Deadwood is not for me, because I can't stand not winning anything for a long time. Smiley
Most of the time if you really want to see what a real slot is like, and if you will like it or not, drop it to minimum you could gamble and play 10k rounds if you can, obviously sometimes it is too high and you can't play it, but if you can afford to you should do that because under 1k there is no way you could ever understand it, and over 10k you are nearly an expert on it and know every single detail about it, anywhere in between of 1k to 10k is where you go from "finally understand it" to "master" level and many things in between.

Of course I have seen (this was non-crypto) slots as high as 100$ bet, that was surreal to me, I probably do not even deposit 100$ in a month, and this was just one bet, that is crazy and if you face anything that is way above your bankroll, or even that might hurt your bankroll, just stay the hell away because they scare me so much like I may lose all I have in 10 rounds.

I agree, but you don't necessarily need a huge bankroll to understand how a slot works. You can play in demo mode, and, for example, on Deadwood, your initial balance is 10k "EURO", , and you have an option of betting with as little as €0.20, , so you can make a lot of spins, and then see how much your balance changed, one way or the other. You can even buy a bonus game in demo mode(that's my personal favourite). Here's, for example, my total win from a €150 buy:

And it's almost always like that, at least from my experience, you always lose some money with bonus buy. Btw, @arallmuus, that's why I never buy bonus game with real money. You said you were doing it, so what's your overall experience with bonus games?

In other news, has anyone checked the competition? That race is just gigantic, people are gambling insane, I am pretty sure Stake will keep the million dollar race going in the future as well, they will probably do it again, why? Because, they are getting so much wagering that I think they will earn more than a million dollars from it, and make it profitable, at first I imagined it would be Stake giving away money but now it looks like they might actually end up profiting from it.

That's true. Look how leaders are close to each other:

and the difference between prizes in the top 4 is huge.
The promo ends in 12 days. Will someone wager over $100 million in order to win the race? Now I think it's possible. Will it be the highest amount wagered by a single player in all competitions of all time? Probably.

I participated in the Multiplier Master #24, but my 177x wasn't enough to get in the top 4. But I remember one guy winning a prize with just 59x several rounds before, so it's always worth trying. I won $75 myself in the  Multiplier Master #23. You never know what you can hit until you try.  Wink Give it a try, guys!
True, this time I only get rather small one, so you guys can enter and have a good chance to win. Ignore roycilik and bitinity as they are insane Grin

I can only hope that my multiplier, which is not that big either, is still bigger than yours. Smiley Also, what if roycilik and bitinity hit smaller ones this time too? I like the way this contest is managed: you never know what multipliers others sent, so the suspense is always there. Smiley

Im sharing this story for everyone who doesn't believe in fixed games in sports.

Thanks for sharing! These guys should have made it a bit less obvious, I guess, but, on the other hand, what do we want from them?, they are not movie actors. Obviously, they were told to act like that by their managers, shame on them!, but I wouldn't blame the players themselves. I even think that they could intentionally made it look the way it looked, to draw attention to this shameful game. They obviously didn't enjoy participating in it.
4449  Economy / Economics / Re: Diversifying with REITs - buy a prison :) on: April 19, 2021, 08:52:38 AM
I like real estate as an asset class, and I have a lot of REIT investments because of the tax advantages of owning them. That said, I can't think of a more morally objectionable real estate class than prison REITs.  Private prisons shouldn't even be a thing.  Data centers are a growing and much more palatable REIT investment in my book.

It is objectionable indeed but then again the whole Government and the centralized system is corrupted and objectionable itself.

It’s a government’s job to police and run the penal system. It’s too important to delegate to a company whose main incentive is profit. We already know that private prison companies lobby for more restrictive laws because it increases inmates and and therefore profit. The only consideration when crafting laws should be what is good for society, not prison profits.

This is a horrible situation, which is definitely bad for regular citizens. However, there's a solution: government should pay the private prisons owners not for the number of inmates, but for the number of places that can be potentially occupied. ... I still think that private companies can provide better conditions for the inmates, if selected through tenders.
4450  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk poker series #2 hosted by Betnomi on: April 17, 2021, 08:13:38 AM
I spoke with the owner today and the magical number for us to have a 3rd series is 15 committed players. If we don't have that many interested who can and will play weekly it likely will not happen for us.
I think it would be fair if everyone invited two people .. At least I'll talk to Hhampuz, johhnyUA and SyGambler as they all said they would consider joining the next poker series (if time permits). I'll also try to talk to fillippone, maybe this Italian stallion knows some poker fans from the WO gang. I want to repeat that if each of us does not leave this matter to chance and writes literally to a few people, there will be more than fifteen of us.

I think it's a good idea. Let's do it.

I just sent the invitation to @webtricks, @Globb0 and @figmentofmyass, saying:

Hello, please consider joining. We need you!

and quoting this post by Yahoo.

I spoke with the owner today and the magical number for us to have a 3rd series is 15 committed players. If we don't have that many interested who can and will play weekly it likely will not happen for us.

I guess this means there is no 3rd series for us ~

Let's not give up just yet. Smiley

To have 15 committed players, we need 20+ participants, and I think it's doable.

EDIT:

I just realized that figmentofmyass will hardly get my message. Last Active:   January 29, 2021, 05:01:58 PM

Also, if you, like me, weren't aware of what happened, check out this thread, it's mind blowing in a bad way, to say the least.

4452  Economy / Economics / Re: I think Bitcoin is the biggest bubble and ponzi in the universe or it isn't? on: April 16, 2021, 11:06:14 AM
Have you seen a ponzi scheme that has last this long and remain sustainable?
~

Actually, there was one. Bernie Madoff, who died in prison 2 days ago, serving a 150-year sentence, ran a $65bn Ponzi scheme that lasted over 15 years, for sure, and maybe even much longer.

But the main difference between what happens with BTC and what happens with Ponzi schemes, is that no Ponzi scheme would ever recover from a disaster that was happening to Bitcoin in 2018, ever. And yet today, 2 years+ later, we are hitting one ATH after another.

So, I would rephrase the question to "Have you seen a ponzi scheme that has survived a crash?"

The prices have been resilient for quite some time now, but I'll reserve my judgement until the final week as we saw a price jump of 2K today Grin

Yeah, me too. Smiley It's interesting that despite of the all recent events, the odds haven't changed much over the last 3 days:

Many people, like me and you, are aslo waiting for the last day to bet.

@Betwrong honestly I feel Bitcoin is making a mockery of the terms called undervalued and expensive, because each time we say it’s expensive and it can’t rise further suddenly it rises upwards, and when we end up saying it’s undervalued suddenly it crashes. I also believe this is exactly what going in the mind of Freebitco users, because they’re unable to understand is it expensive or undervalued hence they have become bearish.

Haha, that's a good one! But in reality all of us here would prefer  the mockery of the term "expensive(overvalued)", right?  Wink

~
This is of course a proof that people wager on whatever price is at the time they wagered, and around those days too, price was under 60k for a very long time so people assumed it would stay like that as well, which obviously is not true because even if bitcoin spends 29 days being under 60k, on 30th day it could be over 70k directly skipping all of 60-70k range. I am not saying it will do that, do not take my word as suggestion, all I am saying is that it is possible for bitcoin to do something like that.

Yeah, Bitcoin is a funny guy. Smiley In December I placed good money(for me) on BTC being over $30k in the end of the month, and the multiplier for that range was good too(few people could predict that at the time), and, as we all know, it decided to end the year at $29k, and go further up only after January 1st.
4455  Economy / Gambling / Re: Chips.gg |🎰 100k Event | Daily New Slots | on: April 16, 2021, 08:39:38 AM
From what I know, on low volatility slots people are rewarded more frequently with smaller prizes, but they rarely get big ones(if ever).  50,000x is a very high multiplier, and if it pops up from time to time on MT2, this can be compensated only one way - by making it a high volatility slot, where smaller rewards happen less frequently. (cmiiw)

Exactly this but in this case Deadwood's volatility is extreme instead of just high volatility. In most high volatility slots, you will only gets a decent multi from the bonus round which is why its kinda hard to land a bonus round if you compare it with medium or low volatility slots.

I'd probably have rolled over 500 spins at on point for  MT2 but I didnt land 3 scatters. I probably will get around 5-8 bonus rounds in Big Bass Bonanza for 500 spins.

Mate you can't compare an exchange with a bookie. Exchanges are a service and of course they charge fees.
Obviously betting is also a "service" but they make SO MUCH money off losing players, ripping people off when they withdraw is just pathetic.
~

Please try to understand this simple thing: casinos don't make money off losing players. Some people are losing big amounts while others, at the same time, are winning big amounts. From 90%(some slots) up to 99.5%(Blackjack) of the money lost on a platform goes not to casino but to the winning players, and this is how it works, a casino makes money from the house edge, not from the losses on their platform.
No I disagree with you Betwrong, Maasdamer is not talking about casinos and gambling games, he's talking about bookies. And he's right, most of sportsbooks don't offer mutual betting, odds are set by bookmakers on the base of the probability of outcomes to occur and few other things. So when most of punters bet on the wrong outcome, the money doesn't go to the winners, they only receive the payment agreed upon at the time of the bet.

And I disagree with you, @Saint-loup. Smiley What I said applies not only to all casinos, but, to a large extent, to bookies as well.  Bookies aim to make stable income, they don't want to gamble, so they are adjusting the odds in accordance with how much money were placed on this or that outcome. I know that odds are fixed on Stake(and other bookies you are talking about), and they are not fixed in the case of pure pari-mutuel betting, but let me tell you this, if, for whatever reason, a big amount was placed on the underdog, the odds for the underdog would drop immediately on that platform, as well as they would rise for the opponent. This way bookies are trying to minimize the risk of losing big money. Bookies don't want to gamble themselves, they are business people, not gamblers after all.
