I'm going to link this article now every time somebody tells me paper money is safer than Bitcoins Tongue

Even here in the UK, we had a surge in Measels because some idiot decided to make public (and unfounded) claims about links between the MMR vaccine and autism.

Stupidity is an entirely human trait.

The issue here is public losing trust in government and institution.

No, it's ignoring basic science, governments have nothing to do with it.
Without proper education, you have no idea how "basic science" works.

I learned what I know by ignoring 'proper' education because it barely teaches anything Tongue nice try Smiley

Cows can have sub-clinical cases of tuberculosis.  Meaning that they are infected but not showing signs of infection.  Raw milk from these cows can then give people tuberculosis.  This was a very common problem before pasteurization became widespread.

That's exactly right, I was hoping some of the posters here would be able to pick up on it by themselves but it looks like they can't.
4443  Other / Off-topic / Re: Murphy's law { Who else gets owned by Murphy daily?} on: June 12, 2014, 11:38:54 AM
I think sometimes Murphy's law is observed in practice due to poor planning/knowledge and low confidence.
that wouldn't be murphy's law than just piss poor planning.

Yeah, that's right, Murphy's Law if I remember correctly is "Anything that can go wrong, will" some people no matter how much planning and thought they put into things just have everything go wrong, the only way to combat essentially what is bad luck is to eliminate it as a factor as much as possible as I said in my earlier post.

Murphy's law is an adage or epigram that is typically stated as: Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.

There we go lol

Climate problems wouldn't exist in the first place if we weren't so dependent on oil. In fact our cities, our whole society is structured to promote today's car culture, to depend on oil. All this also protects the power of the military-industrial complex.

Bullshit

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/8329612.stm -  It did not take me long to find evidence of this, looks like there have been plenty of studies, the amount of humans and cows on this planet producing methane would easily overtake fossil fuels, there's also an issue the article rightly points out that in order to make space for the farming industry they've had to clear away lots of woodland which of course means that there are less plants to take in the Carbon Dioxide and turn it into Oxygen.

Again, while fossil fuels certainly contribute to the problem, I don't believe they are the main cause of the problem as hysterical people would have you believe, in order to solve this problem we'll either have to kill off half the population ( which of course no one sane would agree with ) or develop space flight and find planets to spread the population out more so it causes less damage to the atmosphere of our home planet.

Edit: I almost forgot about this, there is also this option but it would take mass production on a global scale: http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/124383-bacteria-converts-carbon-dioxide-into-liquid-fuel

It's the same Battlefield engine but you play cops and robbers, yeah, it may be fun, but have you seen how much they're charging for the thing?
4446  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why do people deny the climate change? on: June 12, 2014, 10:37:27 AM
Climate Change is a fact for sure, but what's in open debate is whether it's really humans that are the cause for it and whether it's an unavoidable thing, for me, I've been convinced that it's simply because of the explosion in the human population and with that we've had an increase in all sorts of industries like the meat industries that produce carbon dioxide naturally, the earth simply isn't capable of holding this many people and it's showing.Even if you got rid of all the machines producing Carbon Dioxide you're still going to have the problem of global warming and climate change and again, while things like fossil fuels can certainly do damage to what I'll call the immediate environment with smog and things like that I don't think it will have as major impact as people like to believe.

Unfortunately lobbyists have completely ruined this particular scientific debate, I have no doubt of that, they keep constantly trying to mess with data and experiments for their own gains which makes it very difficult to get reliable information.

Battlefield 4 is still unplayable almost 1 year after it's release  Cheesy

After seeing the release of Star Citizen's arena commander I am now convinced that the big developers are extremely dishonest about their minimum requirements on the computer specs, with Star Citizen they say you need a quad core CPU to run it and on Battlefield 4 they claim you can run a duo core on it! That's of course a load of shit, as usual it's the indie developers that are the most honest and trustworthy in the games industry.
4449  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What happens in the government if Bitcoin takes over? on: June 12, 2014, 09:40:40 AM
You know what? There have already been coins being set up to make it so that the developers can take a percentage of transactions and block mining and use it for their own purposes, it would actually be incredibly easy and even eliminate the need for tax collectors etc. for governments to make their own coin and take a percentage of all the currency to fund anything they want. While yes, currencies like Bitcoin will remain tax free, it could actually be incredibly easy to set up a government backed cryptocurrency. They'd just have to make it appealing, hell because of the way the blockchain works, they wouldn't even need a tax revenue department anymore because it would all be done automatically.
4450  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Yes, it is possible to be this ignorant. on: June 12, 2014, 09:04:19 AM
Unfortunately, that's what happens sometimes when you act and think like an ostrich.

it's easy to say when you are living in a developed western country, where public education is something that nearly everyone has access to.
Its not even about education, i know of a religion whereby by its followers believe that one should not take any form of medicine to cure a disease they are suffering from(even if its life threatening) but instead one should just stay at home and pray to god and wait to get cured.  Sad

You only need to look at America to know this is true, hell even here in the UK we get some ignorant fuckers, it is basically all down to brainwashing from childhood, it's not that they're uneducated it's just that children sometimes quite literally have this bullshit beaten into them. Just on this forum we had awhile back a bunch of people who were ranting about raw milk and I was actually shaking my head in disbelief, seriously? There's a fucking reason that pasteurisation exists, it's fair enough if you get raw milk from a source you trust but would you drink raw milk from a supermarket that's been shipped from a place you've never heard of? I wouldn't.

You see it quite often in the nice and quite sane religious people, even though they're pretty decent, they still cling onto these beliefs they've had beaten into them from childhood and you can tell they're struggling with it all the time.

Bitcoin is mathematics, it's neither good or evil, that's up to the people who use it.

I have friends that are struggling to "make it" in entertainment -- music, acting. They say "don't quit your day job" for a reason. Tongue

If you have the option of getting your own paying job then I'd definitely agree with that, build your skills in your free time like over the weekend or something, that said, if you really enjoy what you do you can be far more productive. I could actually do a standard job fairly well and the employer would probably have few complaints but when I'm doing something like Jewellery or Artwork I'm on fire in comparison Cheesy and it's just because of the fact that I enjoy it.
4454  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Let's face it -- just because you CAN have children doesn't mean you SHOULD. on: June 12, 2014, 07:48:15 AM
And gay couples are 20 times likely to abuse their foster children, compared to the straight parents. More than one-third of all the child abuse is homosexual in nature, despite gays constituting to no more than 1-2% of the total population.

Citations, citations, citations.

Woop! There we go! That's the kind of brainwashed bullshit I was waiting for! Now note everybody how people like Bryant Coleman never provide convincing research and evidence to back up their claims but insist they're completely correct, in fact, I can guarantee that just because people will question him on it he's going to get into a several page long argument about it without citing any kind of historical data or the ones that he does will be heavily skewed or suffer from lack of even the most basic bits of mathematics like most politically biased polls do.
4455  Other / Off-topic / Re: Define Trolling. on: June 11, 2014, 11:04:41 PM
From Wikipedia: In Internet slang, a troll is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

This sense of the word troll and its associated verb trolling are associated with Internet discourse, but have been used more widely. Media attention in recent years has equated trolling with online harassment. For example, mass media has used troll to describe "a person who defaces Internet tribute sites with the aim of causing grief to families."

Well done I was going to add to that about the media perception of what trolling is but you beat me to it, yes, online harassment isn't trolling, many news journalists know nothing about the internet so they don't know the different, plus they're morons so that doesn't help things much.
4456  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Let's face it -- just because you CAN have children doesn't mean you SHOULD. on: June 11, 2014, 09:43:08 PM
Oh don't worry, you'll soon find out what the big deal with gay couples is once the religious maniacs come along that slink around this board, as usual, it's not the stories themselves that bother me anymore as much, it's the comments from other people.

Sun Tzu, for writing what is essentially a pocket book on how to build an army and conquer a country

Ron Paul, for being one of the only genuine human beings in politics, I disagree with him on various things but he's one of the few people who just says what he believes in rather than dance around it because it might make him unpopular with a certain group

Trolling is actually fairly sophisticated depending on who does it and I really mean that, it isn't just making fun of someone or something, it's provoking and sometimes the really good trolls can end up stirring up a shit storm.

..... I was about to say sure, if he actually wants to do all this then go for but then this caught my eye:
Quote
Yet, despite her children’s high intelligence, Abraham insists they are grounded. “They have friends their age and older from their classes, however we never let them forget that we are their parents,” she says. “While we learn from them, they have to respect us because they’re children.

These kind of people are control freaks and this is nothing more than emotional child abuse, parents repeatedly forget that respect is mutual, when you use force to make them do what you say then that is obedience, not respect and anybody who disagrees with this can go fuck themselves Tongue you can tell that the parents are going to be terrified of them when they're older because they know how smart they are.
4460  Other / Off-topic / Re: Let's talk about how hot Asian girls are. on: June 11, 2014, 09:11:56 AM
Pfft, thanks to fast food restaurants and and meat imports you can find asian girls with big boobs if you look hard enough Tongue

Yep. Apparently you can find Asian guys with big boobs as well but that is another thread.

lol fuck off, stop trying to troll the asian girls thread like a bunch of other people have >_<
