why use a class B that can accommodate 65000 hosts when you only need a few ips ? this is a very lazy workaround, putting a small subnets into a large subnet is not the best thing to do, he is better of using a single router and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

Why not?

It really doesn't matter, if they want to organize it better with it or something. They are private IPs, you are wasting nothing if you'd rather use a class A because 10.1.5.11 might mean area 1, isle 5, computer 11 or something like that.

Bitcoin is still at 4k, looks quite stable to me. When is this ETH fork event coming?
4443  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin holders will betray bitcoin one day on: January 09, 2019, 12:39:15 PM
I foresee it coming, it keeps on ringing in my ears with series of flashbacks. It will happen like a speed of light in a vacuum. Most bitcoin holders will betray bitcoin one day, they  will see no value in bitcoin again, they will dump bitcoin and call it all sort of name, with all these i know there will be holders who will follow bitcoin till death apart. They will hold on no matter how tough things will be for our mother coin.My question is which side will you be?. LONG LIVE CRYPTO, LONG LIVE BITCOIN.

That's hardly possible because, even if all holders suddenly decided to sell today, they price would go down enough to attract others who have been waiting to get in. Supply and demand is at work, as long as there is use for BTC, there would be demand and that in turn keeps it from "disappearing" from the market. Which is why I'm also not afraid of "whale dumps". Sure it will make the price fluctuate, which in turn makes it attractive. Same way as too fast a rise in price makes it unattractive and the price has to correct itself, quickly or slowly.

In the long run BTC should slowly (not quickly) gain value, because its limited in supply, and because more people know of it and want it.
4444  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if? on: January 09, 2019, 12:27:49 PM
I wonder what would have happened to bitcoin if satoshi nakamoto was an American and come to think of it will all what we've been denied of in cryptocurrency world come to past already? I'm talking about ETF ,bakkt ,regulations ? If America was bitcoin birth home what would have happened by now? Just a thought

Bitcoin can't have a nation. Is like trying to give a nation to internet. These kinds of global technologies get adopted by countries and each country decides what rules apply to it. As you can see internet have different rules and laws in each country (North Korea only allow a local network internet), and the same applies with bitcoin, some countries will allow it, others will block it, and others will try to take advantage from it.

Which is interesting because internet was born in USA, as a military project to keep data communications going in case of nuclear warfare. But its decentralized design made possible later for everyone to join and nobody to control, at least for the most part.

What north Korea has is not internet, its a single state network, not interconnected to anything. They do have people copying content they approve from the real internet hosted on their servers, but that's about it.

Bitcoin is decentralized, and that's what makes it strong. No single point of failure ensures no entity can easily shut it down.

And speaking of other interesting US developed projects, Tor was (is?) an US Navy project. There is also NSA's Selinux, among many other things. As long as it is free open source, where everyone can audit it to ensure it doesn't do hidden stuff on your back, its welcome. Yes, even if something was truly developed in North Korea (which so far I don't know of anything interesting shared to the world, aside from a leaked redhat/centos clone) it would be useful to everyone.

Just don't reuse BTC addresses after 1 transaction.
More improvements are on the way...
4446  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin & Banks on: January 09, 2019, 12:50:32 AM
I think Bitcoin is a competitor for banks and they will fight Bitcoin. I also think that they also buy Bitcoin because they want a plan B if Bitcoin hasadoption.

As with any disruptive technology, you can fight it until it overpowers you, or you can embrace it and figure how to keep doing business in a new world.

Banks could embrace bitcoin, but they can't treat it like fiat coins. They are forced to treat it like assets. They can't produce bitcoins out of thin air, like they do with fiat. Most likely the way they can embrace it is to act like exchanges. They can implement online wallets and earn fees in exchanging, and perhaps offer financial services, mutual funds and the like. Also lending (like a few exchanges let you do).

They also have their own altcoins for moving capital among themselves, but i don't think that would be very interesting to clients. We are in the transition period, but with time and maturing, things that seemed impossible 10 years ago would become everyday. Like, say, smartphones.
4447  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I GOT HACKED AND LOST 1 MILLION on: January 09, 2019, 12:28:56 AM
Thank you for all given infos, including @Artemis3.

On my side I set some rules :

- Permanent use of a keyboard input encryptor : however I do not know it's real efficiency, your opinions are therefore welcome.

- Each password used (and I use hundreds) is unique.

- All these passwords are printed on physical paper and stored in a folder. Of course in case of destruction of these documents (by fire, water etc ...) I could only blame myself. It should be noted that this solution suits me for the moment insofar as I do not have collossales sums in cryptos. In the case of op, I would secure even more it is obvious).

- I do not install special wallets (especially for airdrops)

There is so much more to say, but eveyone uses own method.I especially wanted to participate in this conversation to bring my humble point of view regarding the storage of passwords.

Good luck to all, especially op, you have strong nerves, well done! I wish you the best for 2019, wholeheartedly Smiley
Those are good ideas. You have to think ahead, because when you are handling money you WILL become a target, either directly (you managed to attract someone's attention) or indirectly (phishing, malware, random probing, etc).

As for the keyboard encryptor, I'm not entirely sure of the usefulness of that. I guess its a race of who captures the keystrokes first...
You should have those passwords backed up in someway, in case the physical location gets destroyed (in a fire, flood, or such). Could be digitally using an encrypted file or password manager, or copies in a different places. But securing (and making) the copies becomes tricky; which is why I like the digital encrypting method more.

Another possibility is to buy a tablet or something and run a wallet there. If you dedicate it you probably won't be running other stuff, the problem then becomes updates and such. Eventually you just get a HW wallet or cold wallets and be done with it.
Cold "paper" wallets are very good when handled properly and its always a good practice to learn how to make and use them.

And never mix your leisure computer with your money handling operations.
4448  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Braiins OS: open-source mining firmware [S9, T1]. New release includes AsicBoost on: January 08, 2019, 11:58:53 PM
Artemis3: Just reread your input. 82 THs/W is pretty good. What firmware are you using? Grin Grin Grin (I assume you menth dividing watts with hashrate and got 82 W/THs.)

Oops, sorry my mistake. Fixed it, thanks!

Excellent, the pool seems to have kept 170ish PH. Blocks (and thus payments) are coming more often.

4450  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Braiins OS: open-source mining firmware [S9, T1]. New release includes AsicBoost on: January 08, 2019, 07:25:37 PM
checking asic boost is reducing the hashrate by around 0.3-0.5T but also reducing the power draw. working well on all miners.
I have noticed with asic boost enabled it is difficult to overclock it.

Unless you have very cheap electricity, I think it is in your best interest to improve the efficiency, not the TH/s. Overclocking will do you no good if each TH consumes more watts. Its best to underclock if this makes every TH cost less, like philipma1957 just did by putting them into 500M@8.0~1 volts and achieving 82 watt per TH on the S9i.

Just divide your current watts with the hashrate to see if you are being more or less efficient than normal, or under-clocking.
4451  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Antminer Monitor on: January 08, 2019, 07:16:10 PM
Oh I just update the dB and now all is fine. But how I can add auto miner detect? Also all my miners is in all local are but all they have different wi if router so they have different ip range some have 192.169.88.... some 192.168.0.... and some 192.168.31.... so some miners can’t be added on the monitoring. How it can be fixed without modifying the network settings of local area. Thanks

The 192.169 sounds strange, but in case you meant 192.168.* ALL you have to do is change your network mask from 255.255.255.0 to 255.255.0.0

Actually, more like a F1 car against a 3-legged plow horse... Current ASIC-based miners are hundred's of thousands times faster than mining BTC using GPU's.

And its far more profitable to mine altcoins with the GPUs and then sell those for bitcoin than attempting to mine bitcoin directly with GPUs.
There are plenty of pools to choose from in the Pools (Altcoins) forum area, and some even automate the selling for BTC part!

Payouts each block are if your reward is over dust (0.0001 BTC)
A 14TH/s miner is well above dust but at the start of your 5Nd 'ramp' there might be a dust reward.

Dust gathers into dust bunnies under the bed and awaits the new accounting system completion.

Thank you for reminding us this. Have you considered writing about the dust in the Help -> Payouts page?
4454  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is Really Meant as a Peer to Peer System on: January 08, 2019, 03:24:41 AM
Thoughts everyone. In general we really should be focusing and promoting the original vision of Bitcoin and Crypto as a Peer to Peer system. Vs as a means to invest in to get more FIAT. The Fiat system is a failure, so why should be keep feeding the bear.

Don't you all want to get your economy back and become more independent from central control.

Why or why not you want this to happen? thoughts.

This will take time. Humanity is going to transition from government controlled money to independent (p2p) money. The concept and implications themselves are world changing, and people simply take time to adapt, even after learning about it (which is still far from done, even after 10 years of BTC).

Of course we want to quickly get rid of the State messing with the money anytime they want, and inflating it because they need people to be in eternal debt "to stimulate the economy"...
4455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Am a newbie for bitcoin. Friends please clear my doubts on: January 08, 2019, 03:18:07 AM
Friends all we know bitcoin is transaction is not allowed in india. only few indian companies are available that also require KYC. I dont want my details to get exposed. i have some doubt in purchasing bitcoins. I have listed my doubts below please clarify it.

1. If someone buys bitcoin from blockchain in another country, for example (US blockchain user). And if they send bitcoin to my wallet address(Indian block chain user). Can I able to receive bitcoin or not
2.If I receive the bitcoin from that user. can I able to send it to other wallet id such as zebpay or coinbase or localbitcoins etc..

1. Yes, it doesn't matter where you are, the blockchain is in "the cloud" (internet).
2. Yes of course.

You can make your wallet connect via TOR to obfuscate the use of it. Also make sure you use a new address every time, you can make as many as you want. Every time you expect to receive funds, use/give a new address.
4456  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best Profitable Places to mine Bitcoin right now on: January 08, 2019, 03:04:47 AM
1. Venezuela: At first Bitcoin mining was illegal but since January of this year the president Maduro declare it legal[2], this country have the cheapest electricity in the world, it cost $531 to mine 1 BTC so is very profitable. Most of the internet companies are not so good but there are a few good companies that provide satellite internet that can solve any internet connection issues for an incredibly low cost. The only disadvantage is that you have to bring your machines from United States, Canada or China and do not need to worry for the economic crisis since you can easily pay high qualified workers  100$ per month or even go to 5 start hotels for 20$ per night

It was never illegal, but police is very corrupt and can do things at random that has nothing to do with the rule of law. In theory, the gov welcomed it starting 2018, but some people were still seized equipment and put in prison after that, because... The corrupt cops would fabricate lies such as money laundering, funding "terrorism" (as in political opposition groups) or what not, to the victim that refused to pay whatever they were extorting.

As for sending machines, they were being seized for the major part of 2018. I'm not sure if you currently can or cannot bring them without risking seizure, I have read conflicting reports. Some bring them in parts hidden among unrelated goods, some just use DHL, I don't even know anymore...

Venezuela has frequent blackouts outside of Caracas, and in Caracas itself sometimes electricity fails. This is not due to lack of generation, its due to lack of maintenance (a by product of hyperinflation and price/currency exchange controls) The government officials stated that they would like large miners to set up operations at the southern State of Bolivar, close to the hydro generation, or in industrial areas in Carabobo or Monagas States iirc.

Crime is super high in this country so if you ever think of coming, you have to look and act as poor and plain as possible. Certainly NOT use 5 star hotels or bring luxury things such as any Apple products, jewels, gold, etc.
4457  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it Game Over for Bitcoin? on: January 08, 2019, 01:07:18 AM
Bitcoin Cash may experience huge mainstream adoption from businesses worldwide, due to its low fees and quick transaction confirmations. This is because, BCH has upgraded to a massive block size of 32MB which allows it to process more TPS than BTC itself. However, Bitcoin will also scale with its Lightning Network, which will make instant and cheap transactions a reality. This will also allow BTC to experience mainstream adoption from businesses worldwide.

In terms of flippening Bitcoin, it's nearly impossible unless another cryptocurrency becomes so successful and largely used by people around the world. Such cryptocurrency would need to address many of the issues inherent within the BTC blockchain (such as scalability, and fungibility) to have a chance of overcoming Bitcoin in the future. Other than that, Bitcoin will still be the winner while other altcoins stay behind in terms of market cap.

In the future, if BCH grows in popularity and adoption, it may very well become the second or third largest cryptocurrency by market cap. It'll become a fierce rival against Bitcoin in many ways, as it'll provide high transaction throughput and low fees in a different way than BTC.

Nonetheless, I believe that both Ethereum and Bitcoin Cash have a better chance of flippening Bitcoin in the future than any other cryptocurrency known to date. Just my opinion Smiley

The large blocks also makes it demand more bandwidth and storage (even it it can be pruned afterwards). Also BCH forked, which fork are business going to follow? I don't think BCH will get much adoption IMO. Other altcoins might have a better chance at 2nd place, but Bitcoin is here to stay leading, simply because it was made first and was made good enough AND is adapting to changing circumstances. With Segwit and LN there is no need for giant blocks and (true p2p) decentralized exchanging is now possible among other cryptos with similar capabilities.

Have you done any transactions with bitcoin lately? It is at the lowest fees, and its going to get even better with LN.

Currently all the altcoins together are moving less money than bitcoin alone. They have A LOT of catching to do to even think about a "flippening". But if it ever happens, BCH won't be it. Jihan Wu made Bitmain incur in too many losses from that pet project of his, and the late fork hurt it even more.
4458  Economy / Speculation / Re: January...The Next Few Weeks Will Be Crucial on: January 07, 2019, 11:55:53 PM
We are aware that the coin market is full of uncertainties but this is going to be a crucial year for Bitcoin, considering the upcoming decision on ETF. We are not even certain that prices have settled to rock bottom yet and folks been asking my views. To me, we really can't know for certain until regulators such as SEC make their stance known by this month. We're sure that a negative decision could have Bitcopin trade as low as below $3000, but that's really good news because it's going to be the very worst we experience thais year. https://cryptoinfowatch.com/bitcoin-news-today-the-obstacles-to-mainstream-adoption/

Delaying the inevitable, or perhaps by Streisand effect produce the exact opposite result? I see China, the worlds largest bitcoin user, with bitcoin banned, a poetic irony of where governments end with their insatiable appetite for "controlling" everything and everyone. Because free people are dangerous, or something.

But in the end, the genie is out of the bottle. I don't see 2019 crucial, maybe 2010 was, but not anymore. Bitcoin is a success and is only getting better.
Money will become separate from State. It is a new world, I guess it felt the same way when church and state also got separate, unthinkable until it happened...

Perhaps future generations will study this dark time where governments still controlled money, and did as they please causing poverty and misery with their foolish decisions. And among these dark times, the light of bitcoin that started it all...

Yes, I use the pool hash rate for the block (although for Kano it is estimated until someone uploads their rewards which most people are not doing - I did that this morning).  Also a key point of interest is that with the 400Ph rate, the 5nd ramp up time is WAYYY less than at 45Ph (around 5 days versus a month).  I had added 2 miners that were slowly building but they are pretty much fully there now!  Interestingly, the last 3 blocks in one 24 hour period were about the same as all of last month!
It would be nice if the "big guys" understood this and stayed put, instead of foolishly losing money "grasshopping" pools or "gambling" luck...

And your site clearly demonstrates here they would earn more in the long run.
